NC: NHRA wild crash: Carolina Nationals Finals Delayed, Moved to Texas

  1. Sonofa... I almost went to this, too... I didn't want to fight the fscking traffic to get through Concord to get in though.. heh

Why was it moved and the racing delayed? They couldn't' clean up from that in a timely fashion? Was there a union break called or something? That crash was tame...

I was at this race today. The race was not postponed because of rain. It rained for 20 minutes then stopped. I spoke with many of the drivers after V. Gaines accident (Thank God he walked away, hats off to you sir). The track's concrete was lifting causing very uneven spots across the entire track. The drivers had been concerned about the tracks condition all weekend. One of the drivers I spoke with said, "We've been waiting for an accident to occur all weekend so we could end this race and finish it elsewhere." Very disappointed in Zmax Dragway and the NHRA for putting these drivers lives at risk to make a few bucks. There is no way the track officials and inspectors were not aware of the tracks condition before the event began. Even spoke to a Pro Stock Motorcycle driver who stated that all the drivers on his side of the sport were refusing to race on this track due to safety concerns. You can keep my "non-refundable" $120, just use it toward making this track safe for these guys.

    2. Ahh track condition - makes sense now. I had thought the event was moved DUE to the crash. My mis-read I guess.
That's a shame the track is that shoddy - Zmax gets props as (the only?) 4 lane drag track. You'd think it'd also be the best maintained *shrug* Oh wait - the Panther's owner doesn't own this place, too, does he? That might explain everything *grin*
