Ex-NSA Director, US Intelligence Veterans Write Open Letter To Merkel To Avoid All-Out Ukraine War

Alarmed at the anti-Russian hysteria sweeping Washington, and the specter of a new Cold War, U.S. intelligence veterans one of whom is none other than William Binney, the former senior NSA crypto-mathematician who back in March 2012 blew the whistle on the NSA's spying programs more than a year before Edward Snowden, took the unusual step of sending the following memo dated August 30 to German Chancellor Merkel challenging the reliability of Ukrainian and U.S. media claims about a Russian "invasion."

Via AntiWar and ConsortiumNews, highlights ours

MEMORANDUM FOR: Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany

FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)

SUBJECT: Ukraine and NATO

We the undersigned are longtime veterans of U.S. intelligence. We take the unusual step of writing this open letter to you to ensure that you have an opportunity to be briefed on our views prior to the NATO summit on September 4-5.

You need to know, for example, that accusations of a major Russian "invasion" of Ukraine appear not to be supported by reliable intelligence. Rather, the "intelligence" seems to be of the same dubious, politically "fixed" kind used 12 years ago to "justify" the U.S.-led attack on Iraq. We saw no credible evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq then; we see no credible evidence of a Russian invasion now. Twelve years ago, former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, mindful of the flimsiness of the evidence on Iraqi WMD, refused to join in the attack on Iraq. In our view, you should be appropriately suspicions of charges made by the US State Department and NATO officials alleging a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

art-link-symbol-small-rev01.jpg Aspiring totalitarians ignore the law
The baffling concept that half of America will simply shrug their shoulders and submit to the dictatorship of the other half is as dangerous as it is misguided and foolish. When you toss out the law, bad things happen. Somehow they got the impression that the American people will accept whatever they do, whatever injustice they impose, whatever whims they choose to enforce. That is an unbelievably dangerous notion, says Kurt Schlichter in this article, Rejecting The Rule Of Law Means Inviting The Rule Of Guns, at Town Hall

art-link-symbol-small-rev01.jpg The Impending Catastrophe
There is no rule of law any more if you're a government employee—or one of those protected by same. The majority opinion appears to be that as long as you can get your little piece of the grift, whether it be Medicare, Food Stamps, Section 8 or a rising stock market it's all ok. Ask yourself—is that actually true or are you deluding yourself? Are you falling behind despite getting your little piece of the grift or are you getting ahead? What about your children? Are they able to get ahead?, says Karl Denninger in this article, The Impending Catastrophe, at Market Ticker.

A killer infectious disease is discovered nearby. You drive down to the big-box store to buy a dozen cans of spray. They are wiped out. It looks like a bomb hit the aisles of the pharmacy. You curse the social media that generated the panic and left you the last person in-the-know. But virus, in general, are not that hard to kill. Joe Mama has some proven alternatives for you in this article, Field Expedient Disinfectants, at Eaton Rapids Joe.

art-link-symbol-small-rev01.jpg Old school
What all these fellas had in common was morals, sense of community, honor, strength, the good old virtues. They vibed calm, deadly if necessary; do the right thing always, no bullshit, word is my bond. No showboating or colorful language tossed around just to hear themselves talk, no hey look at me how important I am sort of conduct. The Polack that ran the junkyard, he still dressed like a Polack even though he came home from the Pacific with a sack full of ears and a face full of shrapnel. "Wat? Wat? I went dere. I done some tings, I come home. Dat's it," says Chasmatic in this article, Father's Day, at Spillers of Soup

art-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only-rev01.gif Reality check - Both during slavery and as late as 1920, a teenage girl raising a child without a man present was rare among blacks. A study of 1880 family structure in Philadelphia found that three-quarters of black families were nuclear families (composed of two parents and children). What is significant, given today's arguments that slavery and discrimination decimated the black family structure, is the fact that years ago, there were only slight differences in family structure among racial groups.

Ferguson and the press - There’s no point in marching around and shaking your fists if no one is paying attention to you. The riots and looting will continue for as long as there are correspondents there to shove cameras into angry faces while asking them what it is that they are so angry about. And if they aren’t angry yet, they’ll find something to be angry about if they want to be on the evening news.

"Politically correct child rape"

art-link-symbol-small-rev01.jpg Politically correct child rape

The rich tapestry of Diversity

The sexual abuse of about 1,400 children at the hands of Asian [UK code for Pakistani Moslems] men went unreported for 16 years because staff feared they would be seen as racist. Children as young as 11 were trafficked, beaten, and raped by large numbers of men between 1997 and 2013 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. More than a third of the cases were already known to agencies. In two cases, fathers had tracked down their daughters and tried to remove them from houses where they were being abused—only to be arrested themselves when police were called to the scene, say De Graaf and Williams in this article at Daily Mail.

Remus says: If the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, This was their lowest hour. A people who won't protect their children, but instead knowingly protect their tormentors, doesn't deserve to survive. The Tommies who fell in Europe would use those Webleys secreted in your garden walls rather than allow this outrage to go unanswered. At this point "appearances" are sufficiently served with mops and pails. Unless the good people of Yorkshire redeem this unconscionable betrayal by bringing vigilante justice—meaning extrajudicial corporeal punishment of the graphic kind—to the Pakistanis, the police, the child welfare authorities and all others involved, by commission or omission; that former sceptered isle is truly lost, by its own hand, and merits no respect from decent men.
art-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only-rev01.gif Tony Woodlief af Instapundit says: A moral response to this behavior might involve those officials, among others, hanging from lampposts. The legal system is, ultimately, an ancient bargain: Renounce your mob violence and blood feuds and we will provide you with justice. It could be argued that such a default as this calls the whole bargain into question, and justifies self-help along ancient lines.
The best of European manhood almost died to a man on the battlefields of WWI, and that continent has experience a long, down-hill slide ever since with the bare few honorable men fighting a losing battle against the creeping, glacial crush of pathetic, simpering dullards and the culture-smashing pressure of unfettered immigration from the Third World. The thirst to be seen as civilized and un-bigoted is feeding this craven get-along/coexist stupidity. And it’s coming to America.

"American Women sure looked nice before feminism, fatness, and man-hatred became the norm in modern times."

What a trip. :)

Good golly miss molly! American women were so much cuter back then compared to today. I'm not saying they were angels but one cannot help but sense this overall wholesome impression about them; and their---- were real.

Awesome women outfits in this vid far sexier than tramp-stamp thong wearing girls today! :)

Before feminism, American women were pretty good

I kinda feel sorry for Americans. What the ---- have you Americans done with your females?

MSNBC warns: Obama scandal to return with 'vengeance'

 Christopher Stevens

Controversy surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, Benghazi attacks is poised to return with a “vengeance” this month, threatening political headaches for President Obama and Hillary Clinton, warns MSNBC.

The news network specifically fingered a new book by radio host and WND reporter Aaron Klein, entitled, “The REAL Benghazi Story: What the White House and Hillary Don’t Want You to Know,” as being in part responsible for the renewed Benghazi publicity.

Also blamed is the upcoming anniversary of the attacks as well as the jumpstart of the special House committee investigating Benghazi when Congress returns from its August recess.

MSNBC reports Klein’s book promises “to blow the lid off” of the issue and provide “shocking,” “devastating” and “mind-blowing” new details of the Benghazi attack.

Top 30 Counties in the U.S. that are Most Heavily Armed – One State is Surprisingly Absent

Top 30 Counties in the U.S. that are Most Heavily Armed - One State is Surprisingly Absent

A map that was posted to Reddit on Saturday by user Ramesses Deux shows U.S. counties with the highest rates of gun ownership, and some of the states might just surprise you.

The poster notes that the data on the map is based off of the City Data list of the top 101 counties by firearm ownership. However, the site doesn’t say where the information comes from.

According to City Data, Louisiana seems to have the most gun-loving counties out of all the states with six parishes out of the top 30, which is what the map posted by Ramesses Deux shows.

No charges for LASD deputy who fatally struck cyclist while typing on computer

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to press charges against a sheriff’s deputy who was apparently distracted by his mobile digital computer when he fatally struck cyclist Milton Olin Jr. in Calabasas in December, officials announced Wednesday.

Olin, a prominent entertainment attorney, was riding his bicycle in the 22400 block of Mulholland Highway when he was struck by L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Wood’s patrol car in the bicycle lane on the afternoon of Dec. 8. The former A&M Records and Napster executive reportedly landed on the windshield and shattered the glass before rolling off the patrol car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kearsarge Shows Its True Colors

The CSS Alabama under Captain Raphael Semmes was a commerce raider which helped deliver a fatal blow to Northern merchant shipping. In her illustrious two-year career she sailed continuously, never dropping anchor in a Southern port, and sinking 65 Northern ships.  The crews of her sea-going victims were never harmed.  Famed Capt. John Newland Maffitt’s son Eugene was serving aboard the Alabama as a midshipman when she was sunk off Cherbourg.

Kearsarge Shows Its True Colors

“The vessels were nearly evenly matched [though one] vessel was in perfect condition, and armed with two 11-inch Dahlgren guns against one eight-inch and one seven-inch gun.  The guns of the Alabama were old, the shells defective, the powder spoiled.

But above all, the Alabama, a wooden vessel, was fighting a vessel which concealed under her planks chain cables, which made her “in fact a partially-armored vessel.” The “gallant Winslow” allowed his former friend and comrade to offer him a challenge, knowing that Semmes believed the Kearsarge to be a wooden vessel.

Even as it was, with every advantage on the side of her chained-plated foe, it was by a very narrow margin that the Alabama lost the game.  In the old stern post of the Kearsarge – still preserved at Washington – lies [embedded] a seven-inch rifle shell, which, if it had exploded – and it would have exploded had its powder and fuse come from the magazine of the Kearsarge  instead of from that of the Alabama – then the Deerhound would have rescued

Capt. Winslow and his crew, and the boats of the Alabama would have rendered prompt assistance.”
It will be remembered that the “gallant Winslow” was so far from rendering “prompt assistance” that but for the Deerhound – the English steam yacht – Semmes and his officers and crew would most of them have been drowned. Had he known the Deerhound’s intentions, boasted this valiant and “gallant” officer, he would have pursued and sunk her.

And [US Secretary of State William] Seward “claimed it the right of the Kearsarge that “the pirates should drown.”  I quote from Percy Greg, who tells how Capt. Winslow tried to get the French authorities to send to him the prisoners the Alabama had captured. The United States government adds that Greg “had obliged every officer and man paroled by the Alabama to choose between the disgrace of breaking his parole and the extreme penalties of martial law.

This fact, not admitting excuse, is simply suppressed by Northern writers. If the United States government would inscribe on their “tablets” these truths of history, and may others of a like character, the [Grand Army of the Republic] GAR would put them in their schoolbooks, and then might come the real “reconciliation between the sections,” for the North, seeing their past in its true colors, must needs cry, “I have sinned,” until which time the South cannot say, “I forgive.”

Arizona Range Shuts Down After Employee Shooting; Family Empathizes With 9 Y/O Shooter

Charles Vacca and his family in happier times.

Phoenix, Arizona’s 92.3 FM KATR is reporting that Arizona Last Stop, the gun-themed amusement park (I hesitate to call it a range) is shutting down indefinitely following the death of employee Charles Vacca.
A gun range where an instructor was accidentally shot and killed by a child this week has closed indefinitely.
Charles Vacca, 39, died Monday after he was shot in the head when an Uzi automatic jerked out of the hands of a 9-year-old girl he was teaching at Arizona Last Stop’s range in White Hills, Mohave County.
The range closed after the shooting but customers were still showing up two days later, according to a local news report.
Manager Sam Scarmardo said the site’s policies of allowing children 8 and older to shoot under adult supervision were under review.
Gun safety instructor Craig Cox said it’s hard to know if the girl could have handled the weapon at her age.
I’m going to disagree with Mr. Cox.
