Only 44 Percent Of U.S. Adults Are Employed For 30 Or More Hours Per Week

 Jobs - Public Domain

Jim Clifton, the Chairman and CEO of Gallup, says that the percentage of Americans that are employed full-time has been hovering near record lows since the end of the last recession.  But most Americans don’t realize this because the official unemployment numbers are extremely misleading.

In fact, Clifton says that the official 5.6 percent unemployment rate is a “big lie”.  Gallup regularly tracks the percentage of U.S. adults that are employed for 30 or more hours per week, and it is currently at 44.2 percent.  It has been hovering between 42 percent and 45 percent since the end of 2009.  This is extremely low.

As I discussed the other day, there are 8.69 million Americans that are considered to be “officially unemployed” at this point.  But there are another 92.90 million Americans that are considered to be “not in the labor force”.  Millions upon millions of those Americans would work if they could.  Overall, there are 101 million U.S. adults that do not have a job right now.  But you won’t hear that number being discussed by the mainstream media, because it would make Barack Obama look really bad.

Well, it seems Minnesota’s largest school district is discussing screening high school students for depression and anxiety in the classroom.

“As part of a state grant to improve mental health services,” notes this CBS Minnesota, “Anoka-Hennepin schools could offer a screening as soon as next fall. Dr. Nita Kumar, a mental-health consultant for the district, said Friday that the idea is to get students to talk about something they may hide from their parents or not even understand what is happening.”

To assist in determining the potential for depression, 10th-graders will be given the PHQ9 form, the same form “many doctors’ offices provide.” The form can be seen here. It asks nine questions about the student’s emotional state for which answers can range from “not at all” to “nearly every day.”

“Over the last 2 weeks,” the questionnaire prompts, “how often have you been bothered by any of the following problems?” The listed problems include such vague and all-encompassing considerations as: “Little interest or pleasure in doing things.” “Feeling tired or having little energy.” “Poor appetite or overeating.” “Feeling bad about yourself – or that you are a failure or have let yourself or your family down.”

I’m sorry, am I missing something here? We’re talking teenagers, the most hormonally fluctuating demographic on the planet.

REVENGE: This Is How You Stop The Islamic State & Jordanian TV Airs Footage Of The Airstrikes On ISIS

 armory-Rifle_AK-47-small

As Islamic State terrorists and sympathizers have stepped up their highly publicized killings in recent months non-Muslims around the world have called for followers of Islam to step up against the extreme elements in their religion. To be sure, countries like Jordan have been fighting the terrorist group and it has even been rumored that King Abdullah II will soon be personally leading airstrikes after the brutal execution of a Jordanian pilot.

In general, however, it is widely perceived that the Muslim community has been too reserved in publicly denouncing the violence wrought by radical Islamic extremists.

But that may now be changing. After thousands of deaths and mass murders some Muslims have finally had enough and they are taking up arms to eliminate what many see as an affront to Islam. The father of Jordanian pilot Moath al-Kasabeh says that the Islamic state has “violated the rules of war in Islam” and “even humanity disowns them.” King Abdullah noted that his country will continue airstrikes and other operations against ISIS “until we eliminate them.”

The war in the middle east is real and up until this point there has not been any significant push-back from local populations. But people are now realizing that an extremist theocracy such as that being implemented under Islamic State laws is dangerous and they are starting to fight back.

4 Star Admiral Blasts Obama Administration over Muslim Brotherhood Infiltration

During a National Press Club address on how to combat Islamists, Admiral James A. "Ace" Lyons (U.S. Navy, Ret.), former Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet, said that under the administration of Barack Obama, the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated all of the National Security Agencies of the United States.

The 87-year-old, four star Admiral, who served the United States in the military branch of the Navy, told the National Press Club that "the transformation of America has been in full swing ever since 2008."

"President Obama's 'no show' was an embarrassment for all Americans," he continued. "But it also was a signal to the Islamic jihadis. It's one of many signals he sent over the years while he was in office."

Columbia: Attend Rape Workshops, Or NO DIPLOMA

Columbia University may be compelling students in the next month to complete a sexual assault education program or else lose the ability to register for classes or even receive their diploma, according to the Columbia Spectator.

The initiative will reportedly be announced next week, but has been leaked by several of the school’s undergraduate residential advisers, who have already been briefed on the program.

Students will have a host of options for how to complete the requirement, including attending an hour-long workshop, watching and discussing a series of short films on the matter or even crafting works of art and poetry to engage with the topic. They will be expected to have complied with the school’s demand by March 13, just one month following its announcement.

Middle School Reading Lists 100 Years Ago vs. Today Show How Far American Educational Standards Have Declined

There’s a delightful and true saying, often attributed to Joseph Sobran, that in a hundred years, we’ve gone from teaching Latin and Greek in high school to teaching remedial English in college.

Now comes even more evidence of the steady decline of American educational standards.

Last year, Annie Holmquist, a blogger for better-ed.org, discovered a 1908 curriculum manual in the Minnesota Historical Society archives that included detailed reading lists for various grade levels.

"The Crusades could more accurately be described as a limited, belated and, in the last analysis, ineffectual response to the jihad -- a failed attempt to recover by a Christian holy war what had been lost to a Muslim holy war," writes Bernard Lewis, the greatest living English-language historian of Islam.

"The telescopic sight.........scares them because, having unclean conscience, every prohibitionist considers himself worthy of assassination for cause".

Can we compromise with anti-gun activists?

Let’s look at one of the simplest, least powerful guns on the market, a Crickett Hunter. Manually cocked bolt action design dates back to 1820s, nearly two hundred years ago. Rimfire ammunition is uses postdates the action by only twenty years, and even the more modern .22 Long Rifle cartridge dates back to 1887. The telescopic sight on it is an equally old invention.

Tribe fighting Redskins to open casino honoring work of racist ‘Oz’ author

The Native American tribe leading the movement to change the name of the Washington Redskins plans to open a $20 million casino that pays homage to the work of L. Frank Baum, who was born in this village outside Syracuse and later wrote “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

Just one problem with the Oneida Indian Nation’s Yellow Brick Road Casino: A decade before Baum wrote one of this country’s most celebrated children’s tales, he campaigned for a Native American genocide.

Tom Brokaw Calls for Brian Williams to Be Fired over Stolen Valor Story

 AP Photo

The ground beneath NBC anchor Brian Williams’ feet grew more unstable on Thursday, as the New York Post reports NBC News icon Tom Brokaw is calling for Williams to be fired after he was forced to recant a phony story about taking fire in Iraq that he’s been telling for years.

NBC’s most revered journalist is furious that Brian Williams is still in the anchor chair after he sheepishly admitted he hadn’t traveled on a helicopter hit by enemy fire.
“Brokaw wants Williams’ head on a platter,” an NBC source said. “He is making a lot of noise at NBC that a lesser journalist or producer would have been immediately fired or suspended for a false report.”
Before you break out your pom-poms and start rooting for Brokaw as the champion of truth, however, consider that Brokaw has reportedly known Williams’ story was bunk for years but kept quiet until now, aside from a bit of behind-the-scenes grumbling:

Mountain Lion Attacks Canadian Pipeline Crew, Fought Off with Bare Fists

Stephen Campbell counts himself lucky after surviving a vicious mountain lion attack last week.

Perhaps nowhere else is the term “safety in numbers” more apt than in the wild. Very few animals, from the cunning coyote to the massive mound of muscle that is a grizzly bear, will attack groups of humans without provocation. However, a pipeline crew operating 55 miles south of Grande Prairie, Alberta found out that there are exceptions to that “rule.” According to the Edmonton Journal, a mountain lion stalked and ambushed a crew of pipeline workers in a forested area on Friday, inflicting serious but non-life threatening injuries upon two men.

Stephen Campbell, 31, one of the victims, told Global News that it was the most terrifying experience of his life.

“I felt a weight on my back and I thought, initially, one of the boys was coming around to horse around,” Campbell said. “Then I felt the cougar bite into my skull and sink its claws into the sides of my face.”

A Little Community Organizing in Charlottesville, Virginia

Via Billy

There has been a big flap recently in Charlottesville, Virginia over Confederate statues being taken down. It goes without saying that this is yet one more exercise in Marxist Cultural Genocide in the South, yet many of our people do not seem to be aware of what is being done to them and their culture. This is not just a happenstance occurrence, it is part of a planned agenda to strip the South of its culture, history, and heritage and to replace all these with some sort of Marxist monstrosity parading as “history” that almost no native Virginian would ever recognize. And if they manage to pull it off your grandchildren will not know from whence they came.

Well-known Western fiction writer Louis L’Amour made a prescient statement in one of his books To The Far Blue Mountains. He said: “We must not lose touch with what we were, or what we had been, nor must we allow the well of our history to dry up, for a child without tradition is a child crippled before the world.” Mr. L’Amour, without realizing it, was accurately describing what the Marxist mentalities in our day (and before) are trying to do to our children—to make them cripples before the entire world—a people with no real knowledge of our history, where we came from or what we should be doing or why. This is the agenda of Marxist Cultural Genocide in the American Southland—the crippling of future generations—and if we don’t begin to wake up and realize who is doing this and why, they may well be able to pull it off while we futilely oppose them for the wrong reasons and on the wrong track.
