The Land of Lincoln Bans Confederate Railroad

Illinois’ Governor J.B. Pritzer has banned the Southern rock band Confederate Railroad from the Illinois State Fair because of the band’s name and Confederate flag on their logo. He said that the administration bars using resources to promote symbols of racism. Well, kiss my grits. Let’s look at the state fair’s “Land of Lincoln.”

“The land of Lincoln” is the motto of Illinois. It is on numerous billboards across the state not to mention on all state license plates. Of course, this in reference to the 16th president who is claimed by Illinois as its son, though Lincoln was born in Kentucky not far from Jefferson Davis.

Washington Times editor, columnist Wesley Pruden dies at 83 after remarkable six-decade career

Washington Times Editor In Chief Wesley Pruden. ( Maya Alleruzzo / The Washington Times )

Wesley Pruden would have wanted to spend his final hours at his keyboard, deftly deflating the pompous, entitled and arrogant of the political establishment, and he came awfully close. The venerable Washington Times editor, columnist and journalism institution was found dead Wednesday morning at his home, after putting in a full day Tuesday at the newsroom on New York Avenue in Northeast D.C., where he had worked since 1982, four months after the newspaper’s founding. He was 83.

[Photos] The Two Sides of 1920s Hai Phong: Fancy Hotels and Seaside Shanties

Established in the late 19th century, Hai Phong is one of Vietnam's five municipalities and the second-largest city in northern Vietnam, after Hanoi.

The black-and-white shots in this album were created throughout the 1920s, with some shot later in 1930. During this period, Hai Phong was part of Tonkin, a French protectorate encompassing the Red River Delta and surrounding mountainous regions. While their subject is tourism, one of the city’s major economic contributors, the photos depict two different sides of the hospitality industry: one catering to rich travelers with grand accommodations and linen tablecloths, and another enjoyed by casual locals participating in cultural festivals.

How Democratic Socialists Are Gaining Control of the Democratic Party

The Democratic Party is fracturing, with some trying to retain the more centrist platform of liberalism, and with others pushing the party toward the hard left of socialism.

A major piece of this is the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which has gained heavy influence within the Democratic National Committee (DNC), according to author, filmmaker, and Epoch Times columnist Trevor Loudon.

“The DSA has basically made a major effort, working in conjunction with the Communist Party USA and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization—which are both pro-Chinese by the way. They are taking over the Democratic Party from the grassroots up.”

Things Haven't Always Been This Way: Here’s a suggestion. How about setting up some high school rifle clubs?

Via Billy

Students would bring their own rifles to school, store them with the team coach and, after classes, collect them for practice. You say: “Williams, you must be crazy! To prevent gun violence, we must do all we can to keep guns out of the hands of kids.”

There’s a problem with this reasoning. Prior to the 1960s, many public high schools had shooting clubs. In New York City, shooting clubs were started at Boys, Curtis, Commercial, Manual Training and Stuyvesant high schools. Students carried their rifles to school on the subway and turned them over to their homeroom or gym teacher. Rifles were retrieved after school for target practice. In some rural areas across the nation, there was a long tradition of high school students hunting before classes and storing their rifles in the trunks of their cars, parked on school grounds, during the school day.

The Squad & Immigrant GOP Businesswoman Is Coming for Ocasio-Cortez’s Seat

Via Billy

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who rocketed her way into the House of Representatives in 2018 with only token Republican opposition, will not have things quite so easy in 2020.

Jamaican-born Scherie Murray told Fox News that she is launching a campaign to unseat Ocasio-Cortez. The 38-year-old is the fifth Republican to announce a possible run against the freshman progressive.

“There is a crisis in Queens, and it’s called AOC,” Murray said.

“And instead of focusing on us, she’s focusing on being famous. Mainly rolling back progress and authoring the job-killing Green New Deal and killing the Amazon New York deal,” Murray, a former state Republican committee member, said.

Conspiracy Of Silence / The Franklin Cover-up

Dated

Conspiracy of Silence, a documentary listed for viewing in TV Guide Magazine was to be aired on the Discovery Channel, on May 3 1994. This documentary exposed a network of religious leaders and Washington politicians who flew children to Washington D.C. for sex orgies. Many children suffered the indignity of wearing nothing but their underwear and a number displayed on a piece of cardboard hanging from their necks when being auctioned off to foreigners in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Toronto, Canada.

At the last minute before airing, unknown congressmen threatened the TV Cable industry with restrictive legislation if this documentary was aired. Almost immediately, the rights to the documentary were purchased by unknown persons who ordered all copies destroyed.
A copy of this videotape was furnished anonymously to former Nebraska state senator and attorney John De Camp who made it available to retired FBI Agent Ted L. Gunderson. While the video quality is not top grade, this tape is a blockbuster in what is revealed by its participants involved.

Bowling Alone: How Washington Has Helped Destroy American Civil Society and Family Life

Church attendance in the United States is at an all-time low, according to a Gallup poll released in April 2019. This decline has not been a steady one. Indeed, over the last 20 years, church attendance has fallen by 20 percent. This might not sound like cause for concern off the bat. And if you’re not a person of faith, you might rightly wonder why you would care about such a thing.

Church attendance is simply a measure of something deeper: social cohesion. It’s worth noting that the religions with the highest rate of attendance according to Pew Forum have almost notoriously high levels of social cohesion: Latter-Day Saints, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Evangelical Protestants, Mormons and historically black churches top the list.

Rev. Asbury Visits My (G,G,G Grandfather In 1801)

Scientific research has shown that a great and fascinating -- perhaps even mysterious -- bond exists between dogs and human beings. They even understand human language.

The love story between dogs and humans goes back tens of thousands of years, the results of which can still be seen everywhere, every single day. Families going out with their dogs, which are carefully groomed, looking extremely healthy and happy. The pet is a real member of the family. His needs are as important to his owners as their own. Because of this close relationship, dogs have developed the ability to perfectly understand us.

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson said Wednesday he does not believe President Trump is a racist, nor did he find the president's tweets telling minority congresswomen to "go back" to other countries to be racist.

"I have an advantage of knowing the president very well, and he’s not a racist," Carson said on "America's Newsroom" on Fox News. "His comments are not racist, but he loves the country very much. And he has a feeling that those who represent the country should love it as well."
