George Washington

 Monroe Washington

An attentive examination of the whole subject, and of all that can contribute to the formation of a sound opinion, results in the belief that General Washington’s mental abilities illustrate the very highest type of greatness. His mind, probably, was one of the very greatest that was ever given to mortality. Yet it is impossible to establish that position by a direct analysis of his character, or conduct, or productions.

When we look at the incidents or the results of that great career—when we contemplate the qualities by which it is marked, from its beginning to its end—the foresight which never was surprised, the judgment which nothing could deceive, the wisdom whose resources were incapable of exhaustion—combined with a spirit as resolute in its official duties as it was moderate in its private pretensions, as indomitable in its public temper as it was gentle in its personal tone—we are left in wonder and reverence. But when we would enter into the recesses of that mind— when we would discriminate upon its construction, and reason upon its operations—when we would tell how it was composed, and why it excelled—we are entirely at fault.

A top U.S. Air Force general is upset that “America’s Ambassadors in Blue” are overwhelmingly white.

Brig. Gen. Christopher M. Short, commander of the 57th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, said last month in an email obtained by the website John Q. Public that pilots with the famous “Thunderbirds” should work harder to find women and minorities to helm the F-16 Flying Falcon.

NC: 28th Annual Confederate Flag Day, Saturday, March 5th

The North Carolina Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans is honored to host the 28th Annual Confederate Flag Day on March 5th 2016 at the Old North Carolina State Capitol in downtown Raleigh.

This event will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the House of Representatives chamber located on the second floor. This historic chamber is where on May 20, 1861 the representatives of the citizens of our State unanimously revoked the act of North Carolina of entering the federal union after Lincoln’s call for troops, and then associated with the Confederate States of America.

This year our keynote speaker will be Bernhard Thuersam, Director of the Cape Fear Historical Institute of Wilmington, and a long-time and constant friend of the SCV and our initiatives. Mr. Thuersam is well known to many of our members for his lectures on history that he gives around the State, his research which he also makes available online with his websites, and his years of strong support for Southern and Confederate heritage.

Flag Day always offers a majestic and moving ceremony, complete with a Color Guard and historic North Carolina flags displayed in the House chamber. And it is always a very special day, as it is the ONLY event sponsored by the North Carolina Division at the 1840 State Capitol where our flag flies atop the Capitol building for that day.

This is one of three days each year when our flag flies including Robert E. Lee Birthday Celebration in January and May on Confederate Memorial Day in State of North Carolina.

North Carolina is now the ONLY State in the United States where our flag is flown over the State Capitol.

We did not know if we would be able to secure the continuation of this tradition this year which began back when Jim Martin was governor. Thanks to the efforts of Representative Gary Pendleton who contacted Governor McCrory, the flag will fly once more . . . But compatriots, we MUST continue to show our support for this tradition. You can do that by SHOWING UP FOR CONFEDERATE FLAG DAY!

There is convenient free parking that day in a large parking lot catty-cornered across from the Capitol, and along the streets of downtown Raleigh. There is also a great Southern-cooking restaurant not too far away:

Watkins Grill, 1625 Wake Forest Road, which is operated by the wife of compatriot Ellis Selph.
The food is great and the atmosphere is excellent with the portraits of our Confederate heroes hanging on the wall. Eat your dinner there before you go to the Capitol.

Compatriots, we simply must preserve our heritage, and, in particular, the flying of our flags.

Please make plans now to attend our annual Confederate Flag Day 2016.

Jim Webb: I Won’t Vote for Clinton, But May Vote for Trump

Via Billy

Former Democratic presidential candidate Jim Webb won’t be voting for Hillary Clinton, but he hasn’t ruled out casting his ballot for Donald Trump.

Webb, who briefly flirted with an independent bid before deciding against it, said on Friday morning that the Democratic front-runner wasn’t inspirational.

“I would not vote for Hillary Clinton,” Webb said on MSBNC’s “Morning Joe.”

When asked whether he’d vote for Trump, Webb said he wasn’t closed to the idea. “I’m not sure yet.

I don’t know who I’m going to vote for,” he said.

An Open Letter & Open Report / Black History Month Part 8

On Monday morning, February 22, 2016, I would don the uniform of the Southern soldier , and post his Colors in the public easement at the entrances of Enka High , and Enka Middle School in Enka,North Carolina. So doing in continuing the commemoration of Black History Month.

As I stood there waving, posing for many snapshots, returning so many greetings of love and thanks continuously for over an hour as the traffic continued to enter both sides of the roads into the schools and up and down the busy highway; suddenly a rather large and muscular White man would exit his car at the red light and at a quick gait; run in my direction.

Oh Lord was my thought! Do I go into my Kung Fu stance? He threw his arms wide open, and with a big smile on his face: Mr. HK, I love you. I was compelled to get out my car and hug you, and say thanks!

And before he could get back into his car, a rather large Black woman, who had no shoes on , ran and snatched me up, and said I had to give you some love to . Thank you baby for representing.

And then some of my babies jump out of their cars and hugged me. Even as the long line of cars now had become a trickle. I was so overwhelmed by the display of love. AS I wiped away a tear, a nice White lady pulled up, and parked her car. It has been a long time since i've seen you HK. She would hand me a biscuit ,a cup of hot coffee ,and a twenty dollar bill to help with my gas. She threw in a big hug to boot, and asked God to bless me!

Just as I began to leave, a White man would pull beside me and ask. Are you'se  proud defending that Klan flag? I told him to go on down to the bottom of the hill, make a left at the light and go in one those stores and ask for a copy of the Honorable Mike Scruggs book titled :" The Un-Civil War". And try to read the whole book before tomorrow. However, if he could not, at least read the section on the Klan.

And that he could find me the next day at the entrance to Erwin High and Erwin Middle School's in the public easement on Tuesday morning if he wanted to continue the discussion about something that he had no knowledge of. I'll do just that was his reply, and he sped away. I hope you do. You are in for a rude awakening, my Yankee friend was my thoughts. God bless you!

Larry Kudlow: Trump Tax Plan Will Bring ‘Tremendous Movement of Capital and Labor Back to the United States’

Trump at His Hotel Reuters Russell Cheyne

Economist, radio host, and CNBC senior contributor Larry Kudlow appeared on Breitbart News Daily Friday morning to discuss economic issues in the presidential race, including his support for Donald Trump’s economic platform, with some disagreement about the best way to handle unfair Chinese trade practices.

Breitbart News executive chairman and host Stephen K. Bannon asked Kudlow to comment on the rise of “populist, nationalist” economics, as personified by Trump and his supporter Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), and the challenge this movement presents to free-trade orthodoxy, which Bannon described as a “fetish” in certain intellectual quarters..

“Well, I may be part of that fetish,” Kudlow said with a chuckle. “Free-market capitalism is the best path to prosperity.”

Kudlow said he found Trump’s platform very agreeable to free-market growth: “He has a very good corporate tax-cut plan, across the board, for large companies and small companies. He’s got a 15 percent rate — we’re about 35 to 40 percent now.”

Herschel Walker: SHUT UP ROMNEY! You are a Loser!

Herschel Walker defended Donald Trump from the GOP establishment onslaught yesterday on Twitter.

Walker tweeted out that Trump is not a racist.

Walker then went after Mitt Romney and John McCain.

** Earlier this week Arsenio Hall and Dennis Rodman defended Donald Trump.

TMZ reported:

Herschel Walker’s got his old boss’ back — ripping Mitt Romney for his anti-Trump speech this morning … essentially calling the guy a loser.

Walker has been an extremely vocal supporter of his ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ boss — previously telling TMZ Sports he believes Trump will “save America.”

Now, with Mitt Romney blasting Trump this morning as a “phoney” who is dangerous for the country — and John McCain also denouncing him — Walker went to bat for Donald with a new statement:

“McCain and Romney lost the playoffs years ago yet they want to talk about someone getting ready for the Super Bowl … Think about that.”

Brother of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers endorses Trump

Civil rights activist Charles Evers has endorsed Donald Trump for president, touting what Evers refers to as the current Republican front-runner's business acumen.

"I believe in him first of all because he's a businessman. I think jobs are badly needed in Mississippi," he said.

Evers is the brother of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers, who was assassinated in front of his Jackson home in 1963.

Asked about Trump's controversial remarks regarding immigration and an incident Tuesday in which 30 black students were reported to have been removed from the candidate's rally in Valdosta, Georgia, Evers responded, "I haven't seen any proof of him being a racist."

However he added, "all of us have some racism in us. Even me."

"Megyn Kelly asked about highly-skilled immigration. The H-1B program is neither high-skilled nor immigration: these are temporary foreign workers, imported from abroad, for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay. I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse and ending outrageous practices such as those that occurred at Disney in Florida when Americans were forced to train their foreign replacements. I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions."

There is no Paul Revere right now, yet daily we can see the encroachment of the kings’s men upon what remains of those who stand up for liberty.

I find it very telling, that the Federal Beast who rounded up and arrested more patriots yesterday says that those they sent SWAT teams to arrest:

Trump Pulls Out of CPAC – Foils Cruz Supporters Planned Walkout Protest!

Leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump abruptly canceled his scheduled speech at CPAC Saturday morning as his campaign announced an appearance in Wichita, Kansas the day of that state’s caucus.

Likely factoring into Trump’s decision was a planned protest walkout during his speech at CPAC and the need to have a campaign presence in Kansas.

The organizer of the walkout, William Temple, who parades around CPAC in colonial garb, told BizPacReview he expected one thousand CPAC attendees to participate in the Trump walkout.

Not To Be Missed: Manifesto of Old Men and Simple Preachers

 the fugitives

Over time a man, if he is perceptive, comes to certain conclusions.  The most startling is that the greatest truths were spoken to him throughout his life by ordinary men, simple preachers, old men sitting around drinking soda and eating peanuts, his father.  These men, if beneficiaries of a culture and community that embraces common-sense as a virtue, know truths that philosophers for centuries have tried in various ways to express.  Common-sense is something all men should know; common- sense informs us of certain natural laws, common-sense is God’s gift of understanding.

Amen and I miss you, Mr. Bowen.

We had a good time swilling beer and talking about ourselves, but I came away feeling like John the Savage in Brave New World. These were not my people. They could never be my people. I’m sure they felt the same way about me as they pretty much said it to me. The guy without a job said, “I have no idea how you make it out there. I never could do. I’d never want to do it.”

It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin’ on the porch with my family, singin’ and dancin’ down in Mississippi…

OK, OK. I’m kidding, of course. I was born into poverty and grew up in what is elegantly described as a white trash culture. There are a number of uninteresting reasons for it, but I was raised with decidedly lower class sensibilities. I still retain those sensibilities, despite a lifetime outside the world that created them. It’s why I live in the ghetto. It’s as close to home as I can get, even though I’m the minority.

The hillbillies have a saying, “don’t get above your raising” which means to never forget where you came from. The Irish like to say, “don’t outgrow your hat.” Those are the two that come to mind, but my guess is every culture has some pithy way of stating the obvious. While there is some random variation in all of us, we are products of the people and environment that made us.

A few years ago I was at Yale visiting with someone doing work there and I had the chance to spend a long weekend on campus.

Ronna Romney McDaniel, Michigan Republican State Chair

One of the key individuals involved with ticket allocation for Thursday’s Republican debate is Mitt Romney’s niece, Ronna Romney McDaniel.

McDaniel, the Michigan Republican state chair, was part of an elite group tasked with dispensing tickets to Fox News’ presidential debate in Detroit, Michigan. The Republican National Committee allocated 400 tickets to the state party, but only 50 of them will go to the public.
