Public vs. Private: Park Edition: Why on earth do people willingly wait in line to use a public bathroom at a park?

When Baltimore was “An Old Crab Town”

The Grandson Of Francis Scott Key Arrested By Lincoln

My shirt is ragged and my pants are tore.

I ain’t found nothin’ I’m a-looking for,

And I want to go back to Baltimore….

Good old Baltimore.”— lyrics from a country song recorded in 1954 by Sonny James

In 1910, when visitors would come to call on Confederate Veteran George Watts, he would “[rise] from a rickety chair” and receive them with a “sweeping” bow.[i]  “Old Man Watts, the [house] painter,” as he was known, was the embodiment of that Baltimore, that old Maryland, which Alabama native and wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda Fitzgerald, described as “very polite.” That Baltimore was regarded as a Southern city by most Americans.  And Baltimoreans themselves until more recently did not consider their city Mid-Atlantic or Northern. The Baltimore American advertised itself as The Daily Newspaper of the South; the Hotel Rennert, its bar and lounge the haunt of –some would say[ii]—Baltimore’s most famous resident, H. L. Mencken, boasted that it was The Palace of the South.  Still taking pride in its heritage in the late forties, Baltimore raised a monument to memorialize Lee and Jackson’s last meeting. And, as late as the era of hula hoops and rock n roll, the town had not completely lost its Southern ways and manners.  A buyer for a dress shop who traveled to the city frequently in the fifties recalled that it was charmingly rundown, slow-paced and “friendly.”   But that “amiable” and soft-spoken old port that Francis Beirne, a Virginian, wrote about in 1951 would soon be gone.

Putin to Biden: Finlandize Ukraine, or We Will

Neocons and Republican hawks such as the late John McCain sought to bring Ukraine and two other ex-Soviet republics, Georgia and Moldova, into NATO. Putin, who served in the KGB in the late Soviet era and calls the breakup of the USSR the “greatest geopolitical catastrophe” of the 20th century, is now saying: Enough is enough.

Either the U.S. and NATO provide us with “legal guarantees” that Ukraine will never join NATO or become a base for weapons that can threaten Russia — or we will go in and guarantee it ourselves.

The Covid Pandemic is ‘Over’: US is About to Hit ‘Herd Immunity’ According to Experts’ Analysis

Via Billy

Meanwhile, Florida has no mask mandate and does not enforce any vaccine mandates. Vaccine passports are banned. It currently has among both the lowest Covid case rates and positivity rates in the United States.

The Wildfire Newsletter can exclusively confirm that the United States is about to hit a key benchmark for attaining “herd immunity,” based on CDC data and expert assessments.

Natural immunity is one of the most often overlooked factors in the fight against the Covid pandemic. Until the SARS-CoV-2 virus began spreading internationally from Wuhan, China in October 2019, it was a widely recognized component of the public health goal of acquiring herd immunity.

AN IRISH grandmother has been jailed for 90 days for repeatedly refusing to wear a face mask.

66-year-old Margaret Buttimer, from Bandon in County Cork, has appeared in court several times over her continued refusal to wear a face mask in a shop, which is mandatory to slow the spread of Covid-19.

In May of this year, Ms Buttimer was jailed for a weekend for continuously refusing to wear a mask, and also refused to wear one when she appeared before the judge, leading to her being jailed for contempt of court.

Why War Over Ukraine (Probably) Won’t Happen.

 Via 4Branch

The fourth is the most unlikely scenario: A full scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia all the way to Kiev.  This is the nightmare NATO is considering.  And this is what is prompting all those scary warnings from Western governments. Russia knows NATO would have to respond in the event of a full-scale invasion.

The news media is beginning to catch up to what a lot of people know already: Tensions are getting hot over there in the Ukraine region.

Russia has built up its forces along the Russian/Ukraine border.  Ukraine is worried about an invasion or possibly a coup.  NATO is worried that Ukraine could fall and put Russian forces on the border of a NATO country.

All this against a backdrop of a weak United States that lost Afghanistan and can’t/won’t stand up to China.
