“Ten generations of women will transmit, in whispers to their daughters, traditions of unspeakable things.”

A very popular book in the North, Sherman’s (1875) Memoirs went far to further exacerbate sectional hatred as he condemned the South and “took an almost lustful pride in describing the tremendous power his hand had wielded in spreading terror and destruction.”

North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission

A Bitter Road to Forced Reunion

“If the [Southern] prisons constituted a Northern grievance the South likewise had its hurtful memories.  While Northerners blamed the evil genius of slavery for the war, Southerners [like Major T.G. Barker speaking in Charleston in 1870:] pointed the finger of responsibility to “those men who preached the irrepressible conflict to the Northern people” and “helped to bring on that unlawful and unholy invasion of the South.”

The South felt that it had been betrayed.  [The Southern Review in 1867 said:] “Assuredly the subjected portions of this imperial republic (so called), with the bitter experience they have of outraged honour, justice, and humanity, on the part of those once their associates and friends, can never again by any possibility trust that vast engine of tyranny, a consolidated popular Union, nor derive from it one ray of hope for their own welfare, or for the happiness of mankind.”

It was to this “deep spirit of hate and oppression toward the Southern people,” and not to the necessities of war, that the South attributed the vast destruction of its property.

The ineradicable sense of injury felt by the South took concrete form in condemning the ravages committed by General Sherman’s army in Georgia and South Carolina.  “No tongue will ever tell, no pen can record the horrors of that march,” wrote an intimate associate of General Joseph E. Johnston whose surrender to Sherman is sometimes pictured as a love feast.

“Ten generations of women will transmit, in whispers to their daughters, traditions of unspeakable things.” The hurt was accentuated by Northern pride in the achievement.  The South resented the arrogant and jeering tone of the song, “Marching Through Georgia,” and bridled when Northern orators described Sherman’s army going through the conquered land “like a plow of God.”  Sherman personified all that the South had suffered.

The most contentious bone . . . was the destruction of Columbia.  Sherman’s own defense was to blame General Wade Hampton . . . [and] the charge was made deliberately in Sherman’s official report.  “I did it,” he later wrote, “to shake the faith of his people in him, for he was, in my opinion, a braggart, and professed to be the special champion of South Carolina.”

[The South] cherished a hateful image of the martyred Lincoln . . . who carried out in action his prophesy of war and destruction. He and his Cabinet, wrote the Southern Review, had a “perfect comprehension of the passions, prejudices, susceptibilities, vices and virtues . . . of the people upon whom they had to practice.  They knew every quiver of the popular pulse . . . They were masters of every artifice that could mystify and mislead, and of every trick that could excite hope, or confidence, or rage . . . They filled their armies, established their financial system, controlled the press, and silenced opposition, by the same ingenious and bold imposture.”

The South sneered at a North which observed the Fourth of July and “at the same time denounced as damnable heresy the doctrines of the Declaration of Independence.” When Chicago was destroyed by fire in 1871 it was considered . . . [a] demonstration of Divine vengeance,” because it had been in Chicago that “the rowdy Lincoln, the prime agent of our woes, was nominated.” [After the death of] General Custer in the massacre of 1876,  it was remembered in Virginia that the gallant martyr of the Little Big Horn was also the Custer who had executed seven captured Confederates of Mosby’s command without treating them as prisoners of war.”

Left-Of-Lenin liberals and 'assault weapons'

Comment by Ray on Blogger demands justification for NOT banning so-called 'assault weapons'

The problem y'all miss is that she truly and honestly believes that the "gun nuts" will line up and passively turn in firearms ammunition and freedom. From what I understand of this breed of cat, they also believe that the few "gun crazy's" who refuse to submit to "reasonable restrictions" will be quickly hunted down by the people's law forces and "detained and disarmed". For their own good of course. They genuinely do not and cannot understand why or how anyone could resist or WANT to resist.

They cannot commit violence even to save themselves or their children. The concept of someone who would or COULD engage in armed violence over something as tenuous as a right is beyond their ability to understand or even conceive of. War is something that will only exist as a cartoon in her mind until it happens in her front yard. At that point she and all those like her will simply curl up in a helpless ball and cry. OUR problem is that since modern civilization stopped letting Darwin weed them out, they number in the millions and now wish to force us to be them.

Freshwater striper record falls on Hudson

Eric Lester’s 60-pound Hudson River striped bass established a new state record, topping the previous mark of 55 pounds, 6 ounces. Photo courtesy of DEC

Like most anglers who tie into big fish, Eric Lester had the kinds of things happen that allow big fish to escape.

But a funny thing happened when the Campbell Hall (Orange County) man battled a behemoth striped bass last month on the Hudson River. Despite his reel separating from his rod, and despite the line becoming entangled in his boat’s propeller, the big fish didn’t get away.

And now Lester is the holder of the new state record striped bass in the freshwater category, a 60-pounder that easily leapfrogged the previous standard, a 55-pound, 6-ounce fish also caught in the Hudson back in 2007.

The saltwater record stands at 76 pounds, caught in 1981 off Long Island.

America's Covert Re-Invasion of Iraq

Via Susan

Heavily armed, well funded, and organized as a professional, standing army, the forces of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) swept southward into Iraq from Turkey and northeastern Syria, taking the cities of Mosul and Tikrit, and now threaten the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad itself. The United States was sure to prop up two unfounded narratives - the first being that US intelligence agencies, despite assets in Iraq and above it in the form of surveillance drones, failed to give warning of the invasion, and that ISIS is some sort of self-sustaining terror organization carving out a "state" by "robbing banks" and collecting "donations" on Twitter.

The Wall Street Journal in its report, "Iraqi Drama Catches U.S. Off Guard," stated:

The quickly unfolding drama prompted a White House meeting Wednesday of top policy makers and military leaders who were caught off guard by the swift collapse of Iraqi security forces, officials acknowledged.
In another WSJ post, "U.S. Secretly Flying Drones Over Iraq," it claimed:
A senior U.S. official said the intelligence collected under the small [secret US drone] program was shared with Iraqi forces, but added: "It's not like it did any good." The rapid territorial gains by the Islamist forces loyal to Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, or ISIS, an al Qaeda offshoot, caught the U.S. by surprise, the officials said.
Despite drone flights collecting intelligence, and a 3-year ongoing CIA program (here, here, and here) all along the Turkish-Syrian border to "monitor" and "arm" "moderate" militants fighting the Syrian government, the US claims it was caught "by surprise." If drones and CIA operatives operating in ISIS territory weren't enough to detect the impending invasion, perhaps the CIA should have just picked up a newspaper.

Pennsylvania mom of 7 dies in jail over unpaid school-related fines

Via Jeffery

A growing number of Americans are expressing outrage that a Pennsylvania mother of seven died in jail last weekend while serving a 48-hour sentence over unpaid, school truancy-related fines.

Eileen DiNino, 55, was found dead last Saturday in her jail cell. Authorities don’t know the cause of death yet, they have ruled out suspicious behavior.

DiNino was being penalized because several of her children routinely missed school. According to the Associated Press, “She had racked up $2,000 in fines, fees and court costs since 1999 as the Reading School District tried to keep her children in class, most recently at a vocational high school.”

All told, DiNino “faced fines from nine active truancy cases, which spawned 55 citations,” the AP adds.

The fines related to school truancy are quite small – perhaps $20 – but it’s the court-related costs that are most expensive, sometimes reaching $150. Such costs add up quickly and make it nigh impossible for low-income parents to pay.

“In recent years, the government has found all sorts of interesting ways to extract money from people,” said Richard Guida, a lawyer who is experienced in handling truancy cases.

Establishing The Next Generation of Overlords

It was reported today that Chelsea Clinton "earned" and annual salary of $600,000.00 as a "journalist" at NBC.  Sorry but this inexperienced little spoiled brat didn't "earn" anything.  What she was GIVEN was a massive bribe to guarantee NBC News access to the Hildabeast during her upcoming run for the Presidency.  Corruption and cronyism writ large for all to see.  Anyone who would suggest otherwise is an idiot, a liar or an employee of the Clinton's.

Half of working Americans (those that actually work) struggle to get by on less than $37,000.00 a year.  They watch as their savings, if thy have any left, are destroyed by inflation and outright theft by the very banks that finance the Clinton's campaigns.

Meanwhile these same Democrats and media outlets preach to us about the great evils of "income inequality" and Hillary bemoans how poor she and Bill were at the end of his term.  Sadly yes, all to many Americans are just stupid enough to eat this crap sandwich and actually think it's caviar on toast points.

200 U.S. contractors surrounded by jihadists in Iraq. No help from military as escape routes cut off

About 200 Americans under contract with the Department of Defense at Balad Air Force Base in Iraq are trapped by the al-Qaida-inspired jihadists who have seized control of two cities and are now threatening Baghdad, according to WND sources.

The sources, private contractors who have recently returned to the U.S. from Iraq, said Friday their former colleagues effectively have been abandoned by the U.S. military and are fighting for their lives against an army of jihadists surrounding the base who belong to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

The U.S. contractors are at Balad to help the Pentagon prepare the facilities for the delivery of the F-16 aircraft the Obama administration has agreed to provide the Iraqi government.

The surrounded Americans said they currently are under ISIS fire from small arms, AK47s, and rocket propelled grenades, or RPGs.

Blogger demands justification for NOT banning so-called 'assault weapons'

Love it! :)

Writing for the "Old Single Mom" blog, Chicago area blogger J.A. demands that gun rights advocates show her "evidence that guns, and more specifically, that military-style assault weapons are a benefit to society." Failure to come up with an answer she deems satisfactory is presumably all the reason she would need to justify banning them (and perhaps confiscating them, as Obama would so dearly love to do). She challenges gun rights advocates:
Where are all the stories about where a semi-automatic weapon was the difference between tragedy and "happily ever after?"
I've got to warn you: I'm a tough sell. I've seen the Defensive Gun Use (#DGU) Reddit thread, and thwarting off a home invasion here and there is not enough to balance out hundreds of unexpected funerals for small children. You're going to have to give me more than that to win me over.
The residents who fought off the "home invasion here and there" might be forgiven for looking askance at the notion of their successful defense of their homes being so summarily dismissed. So might the Korean shopkeepers whose "assault weapons" were vital for the defense of their lives and livelihoods during the Rodney King riots in L.A.

Good News: One of Obama's GITMO Five Releases Helped With Lead-Up to 9/11

Again, what could possibly go wrong with the recent release of five high-level Taliban commanders in exchange for Sgt. Private Bowe Bergdahl? Just about everything.

Writing in the Weekly Standard, Foundation for the Defense of Democracies Senior Fellow Thomas Joscelyn writes that the "Taliban 5" are worse "than we've heard." In fact one of them, Mohammad Fazl, played a key roll in the lead-up to the 2001 9/11 terror attacks.

U.S. ambassador flies 'gay' flag in Tel Aviv

No end of conflict in the Middle East. Palestinians who hate Israel. Jews who don’t trust their neighbors. Al-Qaida members who hate the West. Shariah that designates homosexuals for execution.

Terrorists who seem to hate and want to blow up everybody.

And the message on Thursday from Dan Shapiro, the U.S. Ambassador at the embassy in Tel Aviv?

Happy “gay” week.

With the rainbow flag on the flagpole, right there just below Old Glory.

“For the first time in history, the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv has raised the Pride flag together with our American flag,” he posted on Facebook, accompanied by a photo of the embassy, and the flag.

“We are proud to join with the municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo and its residents in celebrating LGBT Pride Week.”

William J. Murray, chairman of Religious Freedom Coalition, said, “How nice. While Obama is suppressing religious liberty at home and abroad – and openly aiding Islamic terrorist groups in Syria, he’s embracing sodomy and celebrating the practice of sodomy at our embassy in Israel.”

He continued, “Why is a flag celebrating anal intercourse being flown just below the American flag?

This is an abomination and shows just how depraved Obama really is.”

Health Care and the Free Market

Since its inception, Dr. Dan’s Freedom Forum has been an advocate for the Free Market as a basis for economic growth and upward personal mobility.  Individual freedom, the absence of coercion, is derived from combining the ability to choose one’s future course of action with accepting personal responsibility for the outcome of one’s decisions.

Competition is the tool of the Free Market, leading to increased quality and opportunity . . . the engine of upward mobility. Inevitably, competition leads either to success or failure. Both are part of the process of the Free Market, and the lessons learned from failure are part of every future success.

The Free Market, by providing multiple options, is the nemesis of tyrannical governments. Freedom of Choice is the antagonist of control, and control is what the government desires most of all. To defeat choice, government intervenes in the Free Market to skew the competitive process by preventing failure and creating dependency . . . That’s basic Free Market economic philosophy, Milton Friedman style.

Time magazine's Tyrants of the Year: BHO compared to other 'honorees' of periodical

“It has been in every age that it has been the tyrant, the oppressor and the exploiter, who has wrapped himself in the cloak of patriotism, or religion, or both, to deceive and overawe the People.”
– Unknown (2 Corinthians 11:14)

Evil men have been, since day one, attempting to deceive the masses into believing that they are good and upright, when the fruit they produce through their works are nothing short of evil and destructive. I want you to see that this method of deceiving the people is still alive and well among those who have not learned from the past – and Time magazine is just the propaganda resource to prove my point.

Time has labeled the following people “Man of the Year”:

Fly, Kill ‘Em & Eat ‘Em

Roundabout via Cousin Colby

Fly Kill Em & Eat Em1 Fly Kill Em & Eat Em2

This came from a gentleman who runs a 2,000-acre corn farm up around Barron, WI, not far from Oshkosh. He used to fly F-4Es and F-16s for the Guard and participated in the first Gulf War.

His story:

I went out to plant corn for a bit, to finish a field before tomorrow morning and witnessed The Great Battle. A golden eagle — big, with about a six-foot wingspan – flew right in front of the tractor. It was being chased by three crows that were continually dive bombing it and pecking at it. The crows do this because the eagles rob their nests when they find them.
