NC: Can the South Rise Again?

Lee In The Mountains, By Donald Davidson

Growing up in mostly-rural North Carolina, most of my friends and especially their parents could go on a bit about their family backgrounds, about their familial histories. Most of my friends—like me—had great-grandfathers or great-great-grandfathers who had served in Confederate ranks back in 1861-1865. Pride in family and in our ancestors was taken for granted, a devout appreciation we all shared.

Especially during the centennial commemorations of the early 1960s, most of us youngsters took an intense interest in all the various events, the re-enactments on a large scale and the ceremonies attending the anniversary. Our imaginations were filled with stories of heroism, sacrifice, honor, tragic defeat and attendant suffering, unrealized dreams, and legends and traditions passed down to us. Public schools back then actually encouraged this fascination and interest in history and the characters and personalities in it who seemed, almost like magic, to come alive once again.

America Last: Biden Will Not Prioritize Americans Over Afghans in Afghanistan Evacuation

GettyImages-117079750

President Joe Biden is not planning to prioritize thousands of American citizens stranded in evacuations from Afghanistan, as the country falls similar to that of the Fall of Saigon in 1975, over Afghan nationals applying for visas to the United States.

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby confirmed to Fox News on Sunday evening that the administration will not give priority evacuation to Americans in Afghanistan over Afghans applying for visas.

As Breitbart News reported, the State Department and Defense Department have said there are “thousands” of Americans left in Afghanistan.

“Once we get more airlift out of Kabul, we’re going to put as many people on those planes as we can,” Kirby told Fox News:

Biden’s Presidency Collapsed with Afghanistan & Worse Than Saigon + Pompeo Responds to Biden Trying to Blame Trump for Afghanistan Debacle

What we are witnessing today is the end of Joe Biden’s presidency… Afghanistan was merely the last straw…

  1. Joe Biden Lost Entire Country in a Single Day

After 20 years, thousands of American lives, and trillions of dollars, Afghanistan collapsed in a single day. Think about the extent of that failure. All those years, all that treasure, all those precious lives, and in one day, it’s all over.

America's Taliban

Afghanistan: why the Taliban can't be defeated | The Economist - YouTube

It starts, peacefully, by demanding an accounting and rectification of the 2020 election in all states; by demanding the release of political prisoners held in Washington DC; by demanding a retraction of executive orders issued by Joe Biden and the annulment of any and all laws signed by him. This is what can still be done peacefully. Beyond that, it’s a new day, not experienced on this continent since 1776.

We are a nation captured from within. We are, in essence, taken over by America's Taliban, the communists, a small group of aggressive and angry people opposed to every freedom, every ounce of liberty once held in such reverence in America. With bluster and violence, they achieve their goals, because, those of us who believe in the republic, in the rule of law, in the sanctity of elections, are, like the Afghan soldiers, melting before the onslaught.

BOMBSHELL REPORT: Biden Refused to Listen to Top Generals’ Warnings, Pulled Out of Afghanistan Anyways

Speed of Taliban's conquest of Afghanistan stuns Biden administration - Axios

Speed of Taliban's conquest of Afghanistan stuns Biden administration

President Joe Biden is quickly proving that he is not only a threat to the safety of Americans, but he is also a threat to people throughout the world.

According to a bombshell report, Biden refused to listen to the advice of his top military officials and decided to move ahead with the disastrous US pullout in Afghanistan.

Biden allegedly overruled his generals who advised that he should keep 2,500 servicemen on the ground in Afghanistan to help with negotiations between Afghanistan and the Taliban. Instead, Biden decided to conduct a complete withdraw which led to a quick Taliban takeover who now control many US assets including weaponry, helicopters and other vehicles.

Afghans Tell of Executions, Forced 'Marriages' in Taliban-Held Areas - WSJ

I began thinking about this post yesterday, when news came in that Taliban forces had re-taken Mazar-i-Sherif, the city in Balkh province that was the site of their first defeat after U.S. special forces units entered the country in October 2001. In the hours since, what was already a growing disaster has accelerated into catastrophe, and the remaining American units in Kabul are digging in for what may be a days-long siege as Afghan and foreign refugees are airlifted out of country. At this point, the last thing anyone needs is another opinion about what should have been done. But I will weigh in anyway, on one narrow point: the blame for this historic and worsening disaster falls, not just on the current administration, but on every administration since 2001. Are we watching the worst imaginable implementation of a withdrawal “plan”? Sure seems that way. But that can’t blind us to the fact that U.S. involvement in Afghanistan was /designed/ to be impossible to withdraw from.]

Ex-Obama White House Doctor To Biden: ‘Do Your Damn Job,’ Address Nation Now Or ‘Resign Immediately’ & Trump's Response

WASHINGTON, DC - AUGUST 06: U.S. President Joe Biden speaks during an event on the July jobs numbers in the East Room of the White House August 6, 2021 in Washington, DC. The U.S. economy added 943,000 jobs in the month of July.

Former White House physician Ronny Jackson, who served in the role under both Presidents Obama and Trump, called out President Joe Biden on Sunday as Biden avoided the public amid the collapse of Afghanistan.

Jackson responded to Biden’s absence from the public eye by tweeting: “OUTRAGEOUS! Biden needs to address the nation TONIGHT.”

“If he’s not mentally capable of handling this crisis, he needs to resign IMMEDIATELY,” Jackson continued. “America deserves better than this – OUR VETERANS DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS! Come out of hiding at Camp David and do your damn job!”

Our Military Is A Woke Joke

Ignore those pictures of the Afghan army that our military senior leader geniuses spent 20 years and zillions of dollars on disintegrating in the face of a pack of glorified mountain banditos from the Seventh Century – the real story is that, finally, America’s fighting men and women are fully aware of the urgency of accepting and validating the trans experience. And it's even better if said trans people are BIPOC. Plus differently abled.

One thing that makes the looming fall of Kabul so much worse than the fall of Saigon is that being closer to the ocean had its advantages, Chamber said.

“We had a huge amphibious force sitting off Saigon,” he said. “We don’t have a huge amphibious force sitting off Kabul.”

For the Midway, the rescue operation began with the arrival by helicopter of South Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Cao Ky, the former chief of the air force who had also served as prime minister, and Lt.

Chambers, now 92 and living in Sun City Center, Florida, has a unique perspective.

Sally Vinyard, the Last American Lady to Leave Vietnam and My Friend for 51 Years

Vietnam Babylift, My Story

Pictures above, Laura and Sally Vinyard. Laura was the daughter of Mr. An and Sally was the last American woman to leave Vietnam and my friend for 51 years. Sally is holding her picture from about the time we worked together at OICC/RVN. She and her son were in Vietnam the same time together but he was in the Army. I remember seeing her in the elevator for the first time since she had come back from Japan and had a facelift, and wow what a difference!  When I mentioned this some years later she said, "Brock, even my son doesn't know about that". :) She was born and lives in Fallbrook.
