A marvelous five days and for some reason I didn't take a picture of the large turnout on Saturday.  It increases each time and this was our largest ever.

A plan to assassinate Pope Pius XII? Exclusive: Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa makes compelling case that Stalin tried to kill pontiff

http://www.whatsonxiamen.com/news_images/b6b34e6940a8d63f058f5766_Georgian-museum-Stalin.jpg

Pacepa’s latest book, co-authored by historian Ronald Rychlak, is “Disinformation: Former Spy Chief Reveals Secret Strategies for Undermining Freedom, Attacking Religion, and Promoting Terrorism.”

One of the major Soviet disinformation campaigns the book exposes is the elaborate and maniacal effort to “frame” Pope Pius XII as a collaborator with Hitler – when the truth was just the opposite.

Winston Churchill called Pius “the greatest man of our time,” and Albert Einstein wrote, “Only the Church protested against the Hitlerian onslaught on liberty. Up till then I had not been interested in the Church, but today I felt a great admiration for the Church, which alone has had the courage to struggle for spiritual truth and moral liberty.” In fact, the chief rabbi of Rome and his wife, Israel and Emma Zolli, converted to Catholicism, with Zolli adopting the Christian name Eugenio, to honor the man who, according to him, had done so much to protect the Jews during the war: Pope Pius XII, born Eugenio Pacelli.

Did Iosif Stalin try to assassinate Pope Pius XII?

There is now strong evidence that he did. And from the Russian tyrant’s point of view, why not? The outcome of World War II opened Stalin’s horizon to the great game of international politics and gave him the confidence that, with a little ingenuity, he and Russia could become No. 1 in the world. He saw Pope Pius XII as his only rival for world domination.

Stalin knew he could not control the pope and his enormous sphere of influence the way he could control the Orthodox Church – by having the Russian patriarch in his vest pocket. Since time immemorial it has been a Russian tradition simply to assassinate your rivals if you cannot win them over. For Stalin, the obvious way to neutralize the powerful and far-flung Catholic Church was to cut off its head.

Just as Peter III was assassinated so his wife could become the tsarina Catherine the Great, so did Stalin arrange for the assassination of all other members of Lenin’s Politburo so he could become the leader of the Soviet Union. Furthermore, Stalin firmly believed that in politics, if you eliminated the head, the body would wither away. He had seen this conviction vindicated with the assassination of Leon Trotsky in 1940, after which the whole Trotskyite movement simply melted away, contrary to what his advisers had been predicting. Why wouldn’t the same tactic work against the Catholic Church?

Suggestion on gnats for the Spring 2014 PATCON

Do we have a volunteer with a leaf blower? :)

Brock,

As I tell you after everyone of these events, I wish I had been there. Some day I'll make it if the flag doesn't go up first.

I have a suggestion for you on the gnats.   Next year right before the event take a leaf blower, get some garden dust like Sevin dust.  Start the blower, turn it upside down and trickle the dust into the air intake of the blower. You can blow that dust all up into the tree canopy and all over the yard in
just a matter of minutes.  Look for a product that will get the gnats. I don't know if Sevin will do it or not but I think it might. Make sure to wear protective clothing.  Maybe with your health issues
someone else could do it for you.

My point is that a leaf blower is the best garden dust applicator I've ever seen.  It's like the old hand crank blowers on turbocharged steroids.  Maybe not good to use if you have neighbors close by or around bee hives, etc. but it works well.

HSLDA Alert: CRPD Ruling Proves Threat to Sovereignty

statue

A September 9 “ruling” by its committee has proven what opponents of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD, or Convention) have claimed all along: that the United States cannot both ratify the Convention and preserve American sovereignty.

According to an October 2 release from Human Rights Watch, an internationalist organization which supports the treaty, “A landmark ruling by a United Nations body found that Hungary’s voting laws are disenfranchising people with disabilities…. These governments are required to review their laws and practices to eliminate any provisions that [conflict with the ruling].”

This proves the point that has concerned constitutional lawyer Michael Farris of ParentalRights.org and the Home School Legal Defense Association all along: the CRPD-created committee is issuing rulings on the meaning of the treaty, and the international community and non-government organizations (NGOs) are recognizing these rulings as legally enforceable under international law.

Secretary of State John Kerry and the State Department have persistently denied that the committee has any such power, assuring senators and concerned voters that ratification of the CRPD would not affect American sovereignty. Next to this recent CRPD committee decision, Human Rights Watch’s release, and the warnings of treaty opponents, however, it is clear that the State Department’s view is the outlier.

“We don’t buy [Department of State’s] attempts to mislead the Senate on the meaning and application of international law,” Farris, who holds a degree in Public International Law, declared in a statement. “We as a nation must interpret a treaty as the international community looks at it.”

The ruling, according to Human Rights Watch, “applies to all 137 countries that have adopted the [CRPD]” – not only the 78 who have agreed to be bound by the optional protocol regarding a complaint procedure.

Two lessons from the biker attack on a family in NY

We now learn That Were cops among the bikers WHO Attacked A Family traveling in New York and Took an active role in the Beating . Two lessons jump out at me:

1. Given a choice, try to avoid jurisdictions like New York, New Jersey, DC and California. Places where Armed Self-Defense is restricted or Illegal Also are locations where "Law enforcement" tends to act in Criminal ways .

2. Make sure that all adults and teenagers in your family can use weapons. Practice using small arms from a vehicle (which is quite difficult to do effective and safely), so that the driver can concentrate on escaping the threats while another family member can shoot down boarders if necessary.

Sam Zell: News Media Treats Tea Party 'Like A Disease'

 http://b-i.forbesimg.com/morganbrennan/files/2013/09/0916_forbes-cover-100713-zell_768x1008.jpg

The tea party movement gets consistently biased negative coverage in the news media while the White House receives a free pass for similar stubbornness, says billionaire entrepreneur Sam Zell.

"The tea party is a reaction to an imperial White House," Zell, chairman of Equity Group Investments, told CNBC. "The idea that they are treated as though they are crazy is ridiculous, and not very representative of a democratic society."

Zell knows something about the news media courtesy of his short and unhappy ownership of the Tribune Co., which ended in bankruptcy.

By refusing to negotiate in the escalating government standoff with Congressional Republicans, President Obama should be called to task for not seeking to unify the nation, he noted.

"The way in which this is being postured is as though the president sits on high and says, 'I will not negotiate.' And everybody is expected to lay down. I don't understand that."

"What makes this man different than anyone else? The president is elected to negotiate."

The Little Eichmanns of the Government Shutdown

Via Terry

 jarvis

I anyone had any doubt about the vicious and petty character of Barack Obama and his administration the past week should have put those doubts to rest. Not even Nixon’s “enemies list” can compete with Obama. Nixon’s list was focused on not inviting certain pustulent bags of crap, like Daniel Schorr, to White House function. Obama and his minions have effectively declared all Americans the enemy in an attempt to make the impact of the government shutdown artificially painful.

This could not succeed without the assistance of a corps of facilitators, Little Eichmanns, if you will, who are willing to abuse their fellow citizens in order to better serve their master. The most prominent of these is a yob named Jonathan Jarvis who runs the National Park Service.

Since the shutdown began last week the National Park Service has lived up to its reputation as a churlish, imperious, and unreasonable steward of the nation’s parks and monuments.

VA Asked to Explain Blowing Half a Million Bucks on Art

Some lawmakers are outraged that as part of federal departments’ use-it-or-lose-it spending sprees before the end of the fiscal year on Oct. 1 the Department of Veterans Affairs blew more than half a million dollars on artwork.

Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, today called on VA Secretary Eric Shinseki to justify the purchase that carried a $562,000 price tag.

“At a time when the nation’s crushing debt threatens the well-being of our veterans and all Americans, and when spending across the government is being reduced, I fail to comprehend the reason why this purchase was authorized,” Moran wrote.

“If the overall fiscal stability of our country is not of sufficient concern, then the VA should have at least prioritized service to veterans who continue to wait inordinate lengths of time to receive decisions on benefit claims,” the letter continued.

The Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health has suspended its dog therapy program because of the government shutdown, according to John Burklow, spokesperson for NIH.

Burklow said the dogs, which pay visits to patients in the hospital, including children with cancer, have to seen by veterinarians, and a “team” on staff made the decision to suspend program.

Common Core assignment makes sixth-graders SCRAP Bill of Rights amendments

Well, America: if you thought the people behind the Common Core couldn’t possibly be any more moronic or tone deaf, you were wrong.

A Common Core worksheet handed out this year in a sixth-grade history class in Bryant, Ark. required students to ditch two amendments from the Bill of Rights, reports EAGnews.org. Students were also told to plug their rights eliminations by creating “a visual aid that could act as a clear representation of your proposal.”

EAGnews says the assignment is part of the Common Core State Standards Initiative, an attempt by educrats to standardize various K-12 curricula across the country. This fall, 45 states and the District of Columbia have begun implementing the curriculum.

The assignment’s instructions, which include hideous grammatical errors such as the use of the plural pronouns “they” and “their” to refer to the singular noun “government,” tell students that “the government of United States is currently revisiting” the first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

Unknown federal officials “have determined” that the Bill of Rights “is outdated and may not remain in its current form any longer,” the instructions say.
