Mecklenburg County health officials said they are asking multiple people who traveled to Charlotte from Ebola hot zones to avoid public transportation.

Health officials announced Tuesday they are continuing to monitor multiple people who have been in three African countries stricken by Ebola, but assured the public none of the people had any exposure to those infected with Ebola.

Forrest Gump Quotes

Jenny Curran: His name's Forrest.
Forrest Gump: Like me.
Jenny Curran: I named him after his daddy.
Forrest Gump: He got a daddy named Forrest, too?
Jenny Curran: You're his daddy, Forrest.

Forrest Gump: You died on a Saturday morning. And I had you placed here under our tree. And I had that house of your father's bulldozed to the ground. Momma always said dyin' was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn't. Little Forrest, he's doing just fine. About to start school again soon. I make his breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. I make sure he combs his hair and brushes his teeth every day.

Teaching him how to play ping-pong. He's really good. We fish a lot. And every night, we read a book. He's so smart, Jenny. You'd be so proud of him. I am. He, uh, wrote a letter, and he says I can't read it. I'm not supposed to, so I'll just leave it here for you. Jenny, I don't know if Momma was right or if, if it's Lieutenant Dan. I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time. I miss you, Jenny. If there's anything you need, I won't be far away.

Has a libertarian society ever existed?

Via Ryan

Screen Shot 2013-06-04 at 3.20.30 PM

It’s sometimes suggested that libertarian ideas are hazardous because they lack precedent.

Functioning decentralized societies, it’s implied, are absent from humanity’s past.

Yet throughout recorded history, nations have survived and thrived without the overarching authority that President Obama assures us is necessary for prosperity.

My observation is nothing new. Each of the systems I’ll name here has been the subject of at least one lengthy examination by a libertarian scholar.  I have yet to come across, however, a reference sheet that briefly reviews a few of them. I’ll attempt to provide one below.

Italian WWII Pilot Found Buried -- Still On His Seat

Via Jeffery

More pictures HERE.

The remains of an Italian WWII pilot who died in a dogfight with U.S. pilots 70 years ago have finally been unearthed -- still sitting on the parachute in the cockpit.

Found 13 feet underground with the wreckage of his crashed plane, a Macchi C.205 Veltro, the pilot was identified as being Lieutenant Guerrino Bortolani. His plane literately disappeared in the Padua countryside in northern Italy, planting itself deep in the bank of a ditch as it crashed on March 11, 1944.

BLUE ON BLUE: New Mexico Sheriff’s Deputy Gunned Down By Another After Alcohol-Fueled Argument

There is horrible news out of New Mexico today.  Two sheriff’s deputies who stopped to spend the night at a Las Cruces hotel after transporting a prisoner to Arizona got into a dispute that resulted in the unnamed 27-year-old deputy apparently murdering Deputy Jeremy Martin:

Las Cruces Police investigators have learned that the deputies were passing through Las Cruces after transporting a prisoner to a detention facility in Arizona. As the two were on their return trip to Santa Fe they rented a room just before 4 p.m. Monday at Hotel Encanto, 705 S. Telshor Blvd. Sometime Monday evening the two deputies went to Dublin’s Street Pub, at 1745 E. University Ave., where it’s believed they consumed alcohol and got into an argument.

Man Calls a Suicide Prevention Hotline, SWAT Team Shows Up and Kills Him

CSI and Roy officers at the scene of an officer-involved shooting that happened Tuesday morning. The original call to 911 of a disturbance came at 4 a.m. in the area of 3570 W. 5300 South, Roy, said Roy Police Detective Matthew Gwynn.

A Roy, Utah man, Jose Calzada, 35, placed a call to a suicide prevention hotline at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and threatened to kill himself, seven hour later he was shot and killed by police, according to law enforcement.

According to ABC 4, neighbors described Calzada as a quiet, friendly man, who was divorced and now lived in the home with his girlfriend and her children.

The first tragic mistake in this case was made when the Weber County Consolidated Dispatch Center sent officers to the residence rather than some type of crisis response team trained to deal with suicidal individuals.

From previous cases, such as that of Jason Turk, who was shot twice in the face after a suicide call to 9-1-1 by his wife, or that of Christian Alberto Sierra, who was suffering from depression and had attempted suicide when police showed up and shot him four times, killing him, most know all too well what happens when you send officers to “assist” people threatening suicide.

Subsequently, a SWAT team came to the residence and “negotiated” with Calzada for more than seven hours before taking his life.
“At some point those negotiations failed and unfortunately the SWAT team was involved in a shooting, and the subject is now deceased,” said Roy PD spokesman Matt Gwynn.

Pope Francis declares evolution and Big Bang theory are right and God isn't 'a magician with a magic wand'

The theories of evolution and the Big Bang are real and God is not “a magician with a magic wand”, Pope Francis has declared.

Speaking at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the Pope made comments which experts said put an end to the “pseudo theories” of creationism and intelligent design that some argue were encouraged by his predecessor, Benedict XVI.

Francis explained that both scientific theories were not incompatible with the existence of a creator – arguing instead that they “require it”.

NC: State Fair Left Two Men Defenseless Against Armed Robbers

The North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, NC (image via Wikipedia)

Two men leaving the North Carolina State Fair were robbed at gunpoint last night as they left the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, NC.
Police say the victims were walking to their vehicles after returning from the North Carolina State Fair around 11:30 p.m. when the armed men approached them and stole their wallets. No one was injured.
The two robbers then drove off in a tan or cream-colored Lincoln.
Because of the arbitrary actions of North Carolina Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler these men had no other options than to hand over their wallets to the armed robbers.

Troxler denied citizens the right to carry concealed weapons at the North Carolina State Fair despite lacking the legal authority to do so.

NC: Hagan's husband claims son worked 76 hours/week as electrician

U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan’s husband Charles “Chip” Hagan, a Greensboro attorney, certified to the North Carolina licensing board for electrical contractors that their son Tilden Hagan worked 3,500 hours installing electrical wiring and equipment over a period of 324 days in 2012 — requiring Tilden to work consecutive 76-hour weeks over that period.

Carolina Journal calculated the hours by comparing claims the Hagans made on applications Tilden Hagan filed for North Carolina contracting licenses in the “limited” and “unlimited” categories. On both applications, only one person attested to Tilden’s experience as an electrical installer: Chip Hagan, Tilden’s father. On the application for an unlimited license, a second person attested to Tilden’s experience: William Stewart, Tilden’s brother-in-law.

The executive director of the state board that issues electrical contracting licenses told CJ the board is obliged to investigate credible information challenging any license application, though he would not comment specifically on the Hagan applications.

School's Nation of Islam Handout Paints Founding Fathers as Racists

The mother of an eight-year-old wants to know why a Tennessee school teacher gave her child a handout from the Nation of Islam that portrayed the presidents on Mount Rushmore as being racists.

Sommer Bauer tells me her son was given The Nation of Islam handout at Harold McCormick Elementary School in Elizabethton. The handout asked “What does it take to be on Mount Rushmore?"

The handout then explains that George Washington hailed from Virginia, a “prime breeder of black people.” Of Theodore Roosevelt, it was alleged he called Africans “ape-like.” There were also disparaging remarks made of Thomas Jefferson (he enslaved 200 Africans) and Abraham Lincoln.

Medal Of Honor Roll Call: Gary G. Wetzel

 wetzel 98

This week’s Medal of Honor hero, Gary G. Wetzel, one day in 1968 lost an arm and consciousness twice as he relentlessly brought fire upon the enemy and struggled to save his fellow soldiers in Vietnam. Please check out my interview with this humble giant here.

Citation: Sp4c. Wetzel, 173d Assault Helicopter Company, distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life. above and beyond the call of duty. Sp4c. Wetzel was serving as door gunner aboard a helicopter which was part of an insertion force trapped in a landing zone by intense and deadly hostile fire. Sp4c. Wetzel was going to the aid of his aircraft commander when he was blown into a rice paddy and critically wounded by 2 enemy rockets that exploded just inches from his location. Although bleeding profusely due to the loss of his left arm and severe wounds in his right arm, chest, and left leg, Sp4c. Wetzel staggered back to his original position in his gun-well and took the enemy forces under fire.

His machinegun was the only weapon placing effective fire on the enemy at that time. Through a resolve that overcame the shock and intolerable pain of his injuries, Sp4c. Wetzel remained at his position until he had eliminated the automatic weapons emplacement that had been inflicting heavy casualties on the American troops and preventing them from moving against this strong enemy force. Refusing to attend his own extensive wounds, he attempted to return to the aid of his aircraft commander but passed out from loss of blood. Regaining consciousness, he persisted in his efforts to drag himself to the aid of his fellow crewman.

After an agonizing effort, he came to the side of the crew chief who was attempting to drag the wounded aircraft commander to the safety of a nearby dike. Unswerving in his devotion to his fellow man, Sp4c. Wetzel assisted his crew chief even though he lost consciousness once again during this action. Sp4c. Wetzel displayed extraordinary heroism in his efforts to aid his fellow crewmen. His gallant actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Army and reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of his country.

NC: All Over the State and a Moms Demand Run-in In Charlotte

Via WiscoDave

Well, I traveled from Greenville to RDU this weekend for church business; we had a called meeting of our presbytery in Raleigh this weekend, and since I never get to OC in South Carolina, I took the opportunity to OC every waking moment while in the great Tar Heel state. I open carried all over Raleigh and Durham with nary a sideways glance, including several restaurants and gas stations. I had a great interaction with two folks at the Comfort Inn on Glenwood Avenue. One employee (a young, nominally Muslim Pakistani gentleman) was interested in learning more about open carry, which morphed into a good conversation in which I was able to share the gospel with him. I also had a good interaction with a fellow guest at the hotel, and was able to point her toward OCDO. All in all, my stay in Durham was very pleasant, not least of which was due to the pleasant interactions with the folks there.

However, I had a very ironic interaction while passing through Charlotte:

I made it a point to stop and meet my parents for lunch in Pineville while I was passing through town, and after I left, I stopped at the QT on Woodlawn Road (right off I-77 where Woodlawn turns into Billy Graham Parkway) to gas up the Blue Bullet. This QT is in a somewhat sketchy part of town, so I was already on high alert when I pulled up to the pump. About the time I got the Bullet in park, I noticed three young men walking through the islands towards the store. One of the three was a younger white guy (about 6'1", 175 lbs, and all tatted up) was shirtless, loud, high as a Georgia pine, and clearly acting aggressively. I took note of him, and strolled inside to pre-pay for my gas. Lo and behold, when I got inside, some yuppie soccer Mom type wear a "Moms Demand Action" t-shirt spotted me and the sidearm on my hip and immediately started ranting about how I was dangerous and scary, that my big, bad SigSauer made her nervous, how did she know I wasn't going to shoot everybody in the joint, etc. I did my best to ignore her, hit the latrine, and came back out and paid for my gas.

While I was walking to the door, I noticed the doped up potential troublemaker was waving his arms around, beating on his chest and flinching at people like he was going to throw a punch while yelling, "I'ma f* you up! Y'all don't want none!" and so on.

I walked out the door to head to the car, and when I did, the Mom's Demand nutjob approached from my right and quietly asked, "Would you walk me to my car?"

My response: "I'm sure that loud mouth of yours will keep you safe."

The shocked look on her face was completely worth it.

Released Ebola Nurse Kaci Hickox Works For CDC…Her Lawyer Is A White House Visitor

Via comment by Sioux on Quarantined Ebola Worker, Kaci Hickox, Speaks To M...
Ebola health care worker Kaci Hickox, who was released from quarantine with the support of the White House, is a Centers For Disease Control and Prevention employee, records reveal. The lawyer who helped earn her release is a recent White House state dinner guest.

Hickox was released from Ebola quarantine in Newark, N.J., Monday afternoon after the White House pressured New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to release the nurse that was working in Sierra Leone with Doctors Without Borders. Hickox’s case for release was also bolstered by New York civil rights attorney Norman Siegel, who took on Hickox’s case.

“I feel like my basic human rights have been violated,” Hickox said before she was evaluated by CDC and transported back to her home in Maine.

A Patriotic Warning To Islamic/Anti-Americans In The U.S. :”Stand Down” – Or Else

22 Jihad Training Camps in the US - FBI Refuses to Take Action

THERE comes a fork in the road, so to speak, whereby rational folks finally say: enough!

ENOUGH toying with the patience, generosity, resolve and fortitude of patriotic Americans. No more testing whether Islamic adherence (to Shariah law) will become the “law of the land”, as opposed to the Constitution. After all, who the hell do they think they are?

BESIDES, whether Muslim (and leftist) leaders get it or not; or Islamic mouthpieces can't take no for an answer; well, they would do well to “stand down”, especially when millions of loyal Americans are riled up and completely fed up.

Yet another "calibration" issue in Maryland voting machines..........

Via Bill

 AP file photo
Oh, dear me those pesty machines............

Voting machines that switch Republican votes to Democrats are being reported in Maryland.

“When I first selected my candidate on the electronic machine, it would not put the ‘x’ on the candidate I chose — a Republican — but it would put the ‘x’ on the Democrat candidate above it,” Donna Hamilton said.

“This happened multiple times with multiple selections. Every time my choice flipped from Republican to Democrat. Sometimes it required four or five tries to get the ‘x’ to stay on my real selection,” the Frederick, Md., resident said last week.

Queen Anne County Sheriff Gary Hofmann said he encountered the problem, too, personally.
