Remembering the Armenian Genocide: Islam’s Holy War Against Christianity

"Sorry, these dead babies don't matter as much as invisible Jew ashes because they weren't chosen by God to rule the earth." -European Judge

Turkey 1894-1923

Part 1 of a Series

Mike Scruggs

In nations governed by Islamic Law (Sharia), non-Muslims have the status of dhimmis (“protected people”). They are protected from slaughter or expulsion so long as they remain subservient and pay a special poll tax, called the Jizya, to their Muslim masters. Under the rules of dhimmitude the “protected people” must show deference at all times to Muslims and wear special clothing to distinguish themselves from Muslims. They are allowed only limited religious freedoms and have no political or civil rights outside the Sharia, which regulates their mandated status of degradation and humiliation. Usually, besides the Jizya, they must also pay a large part of their income to the Muslim community. Their continued status as dhimmis is strictly at the pleasure of the dominant Muslim population. They are subject to have their properties confiscated or their lives forfeited at any time.

Muhammad instituted this practice as a source of Muslim income, which resulted in the umma (Muslim people) becoming somewhat dependent on the dhimmi class for various technical skills.

The Armenians are an ethnic group whose original homeland was the highlands surrounding Mount Ararat (Genesis 8:4). They have been an identifiable people for at least 4,000 years. The modern Republic of Armenia, formerly part of the Soviet Union, borders Turkey on the west, the Republic of Georgia on the north, Azerbaijan on the east, and Iran on the south. The Kingdom of Armenia, established about 500 BC, also now referred to as Greater Armenia, encompassed large parts of Eastern Turkey. Armenia was the first nation to declare itself a Christian nation about 301 AD. Most Armenians belong to the Armenian Apostolic Church, but about ten percent belong to the Armenian Catholic Church and about two percent to the Armenian Evangelical Church. There were once large Armenian populations in Istanbul, Izmir (formerly known as Smyrna, Revelation 2:8), and other metropolitan areas. Only a remnant now remain in Turkey.

Near the beginning of the twentieth century, the 4.5 million Armenian and Greek Christians in Ottoman Turkey were of the subjugated dhimmi class. In Christian Europe and especially Britain, however, such Muslim practices were being viewed with alarm. Consequently, the Armenians began to appeal to Britain and other European powers to put pressure on Turkey to relax the Sharia rules pertaining to non-Muslims. There had been some relaxation late in the nineteenth century, but the Turks began to resent the Armenian overtures to European powers and became uncertain of their loyalty to Turkey. They considered these Armenian pleas for help to have violated their constraints as protected people under Sharia.

In 1894, fearing increasing unrest, the Ottoman government persuaded Muslim religious leaders to undertake a major crack-down on any dissent by Armenian dhimmis regarding their subjugated status. In an 1896 dispatch, Henry Barnham, a British Consulate official, gave his personal description of events:

“The butchers and tanners, with sleeves tucked up to the shoulders, armed with clubs and cleavers, cut down the Christians with cries of ‘Allahu akbar!’ (Allah is great!) (and) broke down the doors of their houses with pickaxes and levers, or scaled the walls with ladders. Then when mid-day came they knelt down and said their prayers, and then jumped up and resumed the dreadful work, carrying it on far into the night. Whenever they were unable to beat down the doors they fired the houses with petroleum…”

One survivor recounted the destruction of two churches in the town of Severek in December of 1896:

“The mob had plundered the Gregorian (Armenian) church, desecrated it, murdered all who had sought shelter there, and as a sacrifice beheaded the sexton on the stone threshold. Now it (the mob) filled our yard. The blows of an axe crashed in the church doors.”

This survivor described the scene as this mob rushed into the second church and ripped apart Bibles and hymnbooks, blasphemed the cross as a sign of victory, and chanted their prayer (“There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His prophet.”) He then related:

“The leader of the mob cried: ‘Believe in Muhammad and deny your religion.’ No one answered…The leader gave the order to massacre. The first attack was on our pastor. The blow of an axe decapitated him. His blood spurting in all directions, spattered the walls and ceiling”

The British Consul intercepted a letter from a Turkish soldier giving this account to his family:

“My brother, if you want news from here we have killed 1,200 Armenians, all of them food for the dogs...Mother I am safe and sound. Father, 20 days ago we made war on the Armenian unbelievers. Through Allah’s grace no harm befell us…May Allah bless you.”

Another intercepted letter, evidently from an Armenian survivor, described the slaughter of refugees at a church in ancient Edessa. After breaking down the door, Turkish troops mockingly called for Christ to prove himself a greater prophet than Muhammad. Then according to the survivor:

“They began killing everyone on the floor of the church by hand or with pistols. From the altar they gunned down women and children in the gallery. Finally the Turks gathered bedding and straw, on which they poured some thirty cans of kerosene and set the church ablaze.”

This 1894-1896 Jihad against Christians in Eastern Turkey claimed 250,000 lives. Many Armenian women were forced into harems, and many women and children were sold as slaves. Rape, considered one of the rights of “booty” in Muslim Jihad, was routine. Some under duress converted to Islam, but others escaped to the West and reported the massacre. This enormous suffering inflicted upon Armenian Christians in Turkey was only a shadow of what was to come. In 1915, the Turkish government would order a far more organized genocide of Armenian and Greek Christians.

A public library is a practical place, stocked with reference materials, maps, computers and magazines.

So it’s no surprise that a library event on gun violence Saturday has a practical air – what are the facts and how can people reduce deaths and injuries?

“Firearm injuries and deaths are not a political issue,” said Tamera Coyne-Beasley, a pediatrician at UNC Health Care. “This is a public health issue.”

Coyne-Beasley said the community should tackle gun violence the same way as tobacco-related illnesses and automobile accidents: look for many ways, sometimes small ways, to reduce harm.

“There’s no silver bullet,” she said. “We just have to act incrementally, bit by bit.”

China Halts Bank Cash Transfers

Via Ryan
The People’s Bank of China , the central bank, has just ordered commercial banks to halt cash transfers.

This notice, for instance, appears on the online portal for Citigroup's C -2.74% Citibank unit for its China customers:
    Important Notice:

    1. Due to the system maintenance of People’s Bank of China, Domestic RMB Fund Transfer through Citibank (China) Online and Citi Mobile will be delayed during January 30th 2014, 16:00pm to February 2nd 2014, 18:30pm. As to the fund availability at the receiving bank, it depends on the processing requirements and turnaround time of the receiving bank. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

    2. During Spring Festival, Foreign Currency Transfer Transaction through Citibank (China) Online and Citi Mobile will be temporally not available from January 30, 2014 18:00pm to February 7, 2014 09:00am. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

If you have any enquiries, please reach us via our 24-hour banking hotline at 800-830-1880 or credit card hotline at 400-821-1880. If you are calling from other parts of the world, please reach us at 86-20-38801267 for banking services or 86-21-38969500 for credit card services.
In short, there will be a three-day suspension of domestic renminbi transfers.  There will also be a suspension, spanning nine calendar days, of conversions of renminbi to foreign currency.
The specific reason given—“system maintenance” at the central bank—is preposterous.  It is not credible that during the highest usage period in the year—the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday beginning January 31—the central bank would schedule an upgrade and shut down cash transfers.
A better explanation is that the country’s banking system is running dry.

As my friend said, I'll believe it when I see it. :) Would be fun though.

You may ask  .."how often does Eastern North Carolina see a foot of snow? ..."   And statistically it's happens very rarely. But statistically hurricane  Sandy never makes a sharp left hand turn  into the New Jersey Coast.  In fact that had never happened before.  Until it did.   Statistically Katrina never happens in New  Orleans.  Statistically Moore  OK should  NOT  see 2 EF5 tornadoes  in  the same  season. But it did.  Statistically Washington, DC and Baltimore should not  see  two back to back blizzards five days apart in the winter of 2009-10 . But it did   My  Point here is that  if one simply simply hides behind statistics you will   always get the easy forecast correct .  It's easy to predict sunny and 75 in the month of MAY  and it's really hard to get that wrong.

But  if you base your forecast or perspective on  statistics and probabilities you will also always ...and I mean always  screw up the serious weather forecast forecast whether it's a blizzard or an ice storm ... a heat wave or a major hurricane making landfall .

Cop to Kelly Thomas Murder Protesters: “There is a pack of 12 cops waiting to smash your f***ing faces in.”

kelly thomas protesters 2011

After being involved with the Kelly Thomas murder case for the last 2 1/2 years, protesting, attending council meetings, fundraiser involvement, writing letters and articles, videotaping and taking pictures, attending court dates, listening to the specifics of the murder by the DA (before the video was released), hearing dozens of witnesses to the murder…. all of which culminated in a televised murder (which clearly showed MURDER) and the acquittal of two of the cop murderers and no charges for the other four cops who also participated, I attended last night’s Fullerton city council meeting to add my support. I wanted to share some of the highlights…

Lest Darkness Fall

53rd North Carolina, Fort Mahone/ "Fort Damnation" Petersburg, Virginia
Requiem Aeternam - Eternal Rest Grant unto Them

My great grandfather and great uncle knew all these men as they were part of the 53rd NC which was the sole unit in Fort Mahone. Handpicked men of the 53rd (My great grandfather was one of these) made the final, night assault at Petersburg in an attempt to break Grant's line. This was against Fort Stedman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Steadman which was immediately in front of Fort Mahone. They initially succeeded, but reinforcements drove them back. This video is made from photographs which were taken the day after the 53rd evacuated the lines the night before to begin the retreat to Appomattox. (Only 83 were left at the surrender, of whom two were black.)

Starvation, literal starvation, was doing its deadly work. So depleted and poisoned was the blood of many of Lee's men from insufficient and unsound food that a slight wound, which would probably not have been reported at the beginning of the war, would often cause blood-poison, gangrene and death, yet the spirits of these brave men seemed to rise as their condition grew more desperate.'

Lest Darkness Fall

This article, Lest Darkness Fall, does not reference Fort Mahone occupied by the 53rd NC which is where the assault began.
"While walking along Harrison Creek, where the advance from Ft. Stedman stalled in the face of overwhelming numbers, my thoughts turned to what we have lost. American Liberty, the very founding principles of the United States were following the advance and retreat of this battle. The results are very sad. When this line of Grey crumpled and began retreating, I am sure sadness was felt by men such as Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and George Mason, for their great sacrifices and wisdom was what was at stake. Looking down upon the ebb and tide of this battle, they would have known that their creation, American Liberty, had lost.

Today there are US flags fluttering in the wind, gloating over the blood and defeat of the defenders of American Liberty, our Confederate forefathers. No where to be seen, was even one token Flag in memory of the men who died in their effort to preserve American Liberty for us, their future generations. Mind you, not a single Flag in their honour, not one single Flag in honour of our country. Not a single Flag to remind us of what our forefathers fought for and to show respect.

I am very proud to state that before the end of the day, our Flag of Honour and Distinction was very obvious on the National Park Service Petersburg Battlefield. All around the “Keep Off” signs at Fort Stedman, where one last effort was made against overwhelming odds, flew our Battleflag. Across the very ground tread in the desperate effort to break the line of the invaders of our country, around The Crater, in the homestead of residents burned out in typical yankee style, along the breastworks where our Confederate forefathers gallantly made their stand. Briefly, perhaps very briefly, Confederate Flags greatly outnumbered the US flag. Yes for a brief time our Flag honoured the men who fought for our Liberty. Despite the glares, threats and protests of current day suppressors of American Liberty one gross of 4 inch Flags covered this hallowed ground.

Walking along the march taken in the advance on Fort Stedman, counting the 228 paces, I could not help but wonder what was going through the minds of these men. Surely by this late in the War they were aware of the odds they were facing. They knew they were outnumbered, out gunned. But on they came, pace by pace. Taking Fort Stedman, they marched on, facing even greater numbers, then slowly falling back. The odds had just been too great to overcome. Walking along the Confederate breastworks, where the retreat from Ft. Stedman would have been visible, I could imagine how the soldiers felt standing there, watching the failure of the attempted breakthrough and knowing what it meant."

Is The Coming Week Going To Be The One We Have Been Warning About?

Well I won't stick my neck out that far just yet but every indication is that it's going to be highly volatile week at the very least.  If the last few years have taught us anything it is to not underestimate the central bank's ability to print even more vast quantities of monopoly money to cover up the failures of fiat policy.

After closing out last week on the DJIA with two down days in a row and Friday alone down 318 points; the DJIA futures are showing an opening position down a further 335 points as of 3:00 PM EDLST.  If fact all of the markets (those covered on Bloomberg at least) with the exception of China's smaller CSI index, are showing in the red across the board.

Tennessee Governor Welcomes Confederate Veteran Reunion in 1904

The Attack On Fort Stedman

Following Gov. Frazier’s remarks below, Mayor Williams of Nashville said “I can recall no period or occasion in the past history of my life among the good people of Nashville fraught with so much pleasure as the distinguished privilege . . . to stand in the august presence of an assemblage of soldiers and patriots such as now confront me . . . [and] welcome every one of you to every home and fireside in grand old Nashville.”  Many North Carolina veterans traveled to Nashville to represent The Old North State.

Tennessee Governor Welcomes Confederate Veteran Reunion in 1904

“We extend to you a hearty greeting because you are the remnant of the greatest army of individual fighters that ever went to battle.  The personnel of that army was the most magnificent the world had ever seen. They were the descendants of the men who suffered at Valley Forge with Washington, the greatest of rebels. Those men sprang from noble sires.

Up to the war the South had played a conspicuous part in the government of this republic. A Southern man had written the Declaration of Independence, Southern men had dominated the Constitutional Convention, and a Southern man had written the organic law of the nation.

It was a Southern man that planted the flag of the nation on the palaces of the Montezumas. Men who sprang from such an ancestry could not deliberately conspire and fight for the destruction of the government they had created.  The Confederate army fought for the great and inalienable right of local government.  If you had had equal resources with our brothers across the line, to-day the Stars and Bars would float as the national emblem.

I welcome you to the grand old hospitable State of Tennessee.  I welcome you to the warmth of her sunshine, and if that ain’t warm enough, I welcome you to some of her moonshine.”

The band played Dixie and the convention went wild.  Gen. [G.W.] Gordon then appropriately introduced Mayor Williams [of Nashville], saying that “if any get too much of that moonshine to which the Governor so kindly referred in his speech, he will take care of you.”

In 1971, the Southern Poverty Law Center was incorporated by Alabama lawyers Morris Dees and Joseph Levin as a tax-exempt, charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code—making all contributions to SPLC tax deductible. According to its website, the Southern Poverty Law Center claims to be a watchdog over “hate groups and racial extremists throughout the United States.” There is substantial evidence, documented in this issue of The Social Contract, that SPLC is a radical left-wing organization with an extremist agenda of its own.

Judge's laptop ruling challenges the Constitution - and your privacy

It's pretty obvious that we as a society are now made up of two groups. There are those who, for better or worse, have moved their lives into the digital realm, and those who haven't.

I would like to introduce you to someone in the latter category. His name is Edward Korman and he is a federal judge in New York state. He had a case before him involving a U.S. citizen – a Ph.D.
student at McGill University in Montreal – who had his computer confiscated while returning to the States. The judge ruled, sweepingly, that, yes, the federal government had a right to confiscate laptops at the border without probable cause.

Public Schooling Battle Map

 http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/images/of-special-note/2013_edmap.jpg

Americans are diverse – ethnically, religiously, ideologically – but all must pay for public schools.

The intention behind this arrangement is largely good: to bring people together and foster social harmony. But rather than build bonds, public schooling often forces people into conflict. Be they over budgets, math curricula, school start times, or myriad other matters, everyone is probably familiar with divisive public schooling battles.

This map aggregates a relatively small, but especially painful, subset of such battles: those pitting educational effectiveness, basic rights, moral values, or individual identities against each other. Think creationism versus evolution, or assigned readings containing racial slurs. They are often intensely personal, and guarantee if one fundamental value wins, another loses.

It is hoped that this site will begin an open and honest discussion about the social effects of public schools. It will also, hopefully, become a tool for people in communities embroiled in values-based controversies to find others who have suffered similar bouts. Finally, it should illustrate that such controversies are often not just one side against another, but are symptomatic of a system that forces conflict between good, but different, people.

Michael's Obamacare story

My company's health insurance broker is basically in chaos. They are struggling with current staff to deal with the mess from Obama care. From what I have been told our company insurance which we locked in until end of September 2014 with only a 3% increase will go up between 60 and 80% beginning October 1st 2014. Welcome to Amerkia. There is no way the company can afford to pay the increase. We currently pay 85% of our employee's cost and neither the company or our employees can afford to take on the extra cost even if we pass on more of the increase to the employee.

The end result is we are going to be forced to drop our health care and put our employees on the exchange. We will pay a monthly loyalty bonus to all employees who have more than 90 days with the company to help them with the cost of health care if they choose to purchase it but will no longer be able to provide it.

There is no doubt that this is the exact result they wanted from this legislation. They are pushing us all to dependency on biggov.com. It sucks so embrace the suck and resist...

NC: Research supports conservative case against unemployment benefit extensions

Via NC Renegade

http://www.lighthousefriends.com/images/nc_state.jpg

New academic research released last week showing that extending unemployment benefits is a net economic drag could strengthen the conservative case against extending those benefits at the federal level.

Congress allowed benefits for the long-term unemployed to expire at the end of 2013 as part of a larger budget deal. Democrats have offered proposals to extend the benefits.

The latest legislation, a 10-month extension with budget offsets, was held up in the Senate on Thursday after Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) blocked Republicans from offering amendments.

The liberal case for an extension of benefits for the long-term unemployed rests on the supposed simulative effect of greater disposable income for the unemployed.

The new study, conducted by economists at the University of Pennsylvania and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, contends that any such stimulus is dwarfed by the economic damage done by extending jobless benefits.

The study examines policies enacted by North Carolina that reduced the length and generosity of unemployment benefits from the state. The reforms have been presented as a test case on the likely effects of allowing federal benefits to expire.

The study found that the state’s reforms were an economic positive. After the reforms were implemented the unemployment rate and the number of unemployed workers both declined, even as it saw “a strong increase in the labor force.”
