Obama and America's end

First, let’s get one thing out of the way. My prediction that Mitt Romney would win the election was absolutely incorrect. I assumed from the beginning of the Republican primary campaign that Romney would win both the nomination and the election, but I failed to keep three things in mind.
  1. The state polls, with their seemingly absurd +11 and +7 Democrat weightings, were nevertheless correct.
  2. The Hispanic vote continues to grow at the rate of one percent of the electorate every four years and is increasingly inclined toward the Democratic Party.
  3. The libertarian element that once voted Republican and now rightly refuses to support moderate Republicans of the Dole/Bush/McCain/Romney variety has grown considerably.
Eight years ago, I wrote a column about “the continued stink of an extinct republic as it decomposes into dictatorial empire” titled, “You can’t fix a corpse.” It was readily apparent, even then, that the constitutional nation, founded upon the revolutionary tradition of the rights of Englishmen, was already dead. So why does it feel as if something important has changed as a result of the recent presidential election? Why is there a sense of significant and lasting change for the worse in the political wind due to the re-election of Barack Obama?

The reason is that the re-election of Obama – combined with the manner in which it occurred – has finally extinguished the last embers of hope in the hearts of millions of true Americans. Even many of those who refused to vote for Romney on principle because of his proven liberal track record nevertheless saw him as operating within the limits of traditional American political ideology. They might have seen him as a potentially disastrous president, and been skeptical that he would even begin to address the cataclysmic problems facing the nation, but they saw him as someone who was genuinely concerned about the fate of the United States and the American population within it.
Americans don’t despair now because the president is a Democrat or because blacks disproportionately supported him. That was equally true when Clinton ran for office. The reason they are reeling with shock and horror is that they have finally come to understand that the melting pot is a myth, that the grand story of immigration they swallowed as children is a monstrous falsehood, and that there are now two very different nations living within the boundaries of what they had previously believed was a single country.

FBI Agents Reportedly Raid Petraeus Mistress Paula Broadwells Home

FBI agents on Monday night raided the home of Paula Broadwell, the alleged mistress of former CIA director David Petraeus, WCNC reporter Dianne Gallagher reported via her official Twitter account.
Gallagher said “two men with briefcases just showed up to the Broadwell home… ran inside.” The reporter also said later “dozens of people” showed up to the home, carrying bags and boxes inside, possibly to gather evidence.

“FBI agents have been inside Paula Broadwell’s Dilworth home for about an hour now. About a dozen there, with bags/boxes, taking pics,” Gallagher added.

She estimated the first two agents arriving at 8:40 p.m. EST. And as of 10 p.m. EST, the agents, which had since multiplied, were reportedly still inside presumably collecting evidence of some sort.

Should Only Those Who Pay Taxes Should be Allowed to Vote?

Via Cousin John

Our republic, in its current form, cannot continue forever. The old adage that once the peasants learn that they can vote themselves bread is rapidly proving itself to be true. Any but a fool can see that no government can continually spend more than it takes in can last. We can see it… the fools can’t. The point is that we must desperately attempt to educate them before they run the entire American experiment into the ground. Otherwise we will go the way of Greece, into insolvency, massive inflation and turmoil.

Whenever enlightened people gain control of our government or in the next republic, if it comes to that, the vote must be restricted to those who pay taxes (which will be most people) and the government should be required to balance its budget except in time of declared war. The idea that all men are created equal and should therefore be able to vote is baloney. All men should be treated fairly and with compassion, but only those who pay some amount of tax, regardless how small, actually have some skin in the game and should be able to decide how much they are willing to spend.

An email to Remus from a long time reader and friend of Woodpile Report.

In Port Ludlow, Washington, in a community comprised of 66% liberals, progressives, democrats.
There are some very distraught people who were hoping the US would not go down the path now chosen. The dispondency has resulted in a spreading show of mourning for the Nation. Many have resorted to wearing all black, some are wearing a US flag, the small fabric kind, upside down or with a black ribbon diagnolly across the flag, or are wearing a US flag pin upside down. More than one has said that they are mourning the death of our democracy, capitalism, and our Nation as they grew up knowing it. The mood is palpable and the liberals have become snide, sarcastic, rude, even "in their face" with chuckles and comments that are designed to wilt and shatter those who did not support Obama.

Port Ludlow is a small community of about 3,000 mostly retired people with an average age of about 70. Meanwhile, many of it's citizens who have retired on their bond (fixed) interest income have seen their incomes cut in half, homes forclosed upon, and their financial reserves evaporate. The impact has been on both liberals and conservatives, yet the liberals celebrate the policies that are destroying the community. Truely this community, of mostly middle income people, is slipping backwards. Homes can't be sold, the few businesses are all suffering, and some have abandoned their lovely homes to relocate elsewhere. The golf course in the village has closed 9 of their holes, 2 of 5 restaurants have closed, a small health clinic closed, among other economic deterioration.

Think about it. Many senior citizens now feel all is lost, at least in what remains of their life times.
Once was a time when folks would remark about a human shark like personality as one who would "eat their young." Now the liberals are being seen as people who steal from and would "eat the old."

To go along with endorsing a never-ending policy of bailouts, "stimulus packages," and foreign military adventurism, the establishment of neither major party questions the assaults on Americans' liberties... the American people are fed up. Many realized heading into Tuesday that regardless of who won the presidential election, the status quo would be the real victor.

VERBATIM

This election year Mitt Romney, a committed and practicing northeast progressive, lost the presidential election to Barack Obama, a committed and practicing international Marxist. When an admitted left-liberal fronts the opposition, it means the regime is running the opposition. Comparison shopping is useless when they own both stores and the products within. Some are rightly enraged the votes and the counts were rigged, at least at the margins, but this has more to do with entertaining the believers than affecting the outcome. The fix was in before the first vote was cast. It's all Chicago now. There's no losing an election the regime wants won.

The statist hardliners win elections because they know Americans are timid. When frightened—and Americans are frightened of everything—they back away and the statists advance once again. It's said Americans imagine themselves the descendents of hardy pioneers. Pioneers were admirable folks in an admirable era, but truth is they'd have failed without the textile mills of Burlington or the nail factories of Wheeling or the rifle makers of Lancaster. In the end pioneers were settlers, and settlers require industrial support and lots of it. So did the colonists before them. Colonist to pioneer to condo committeeman, there's the real story, a devolution embarrassing to pioneers and stay-at-home yeomen alike.

The schools would be doing the nation a service if they produced more bullies. Americans are astonishingly faint-hearted, terrified of the least unpleasantness, which is why they want everybody to like them and "just get along." And like the proper hausfrau it aspires to be, America believes the real world is antiseptic and tidy by nature, merely in need of a diligent housekeeper. Men who knew better lie on the battlefields of Europe and Asia while their descendents are suspended from school for pointing their finger and saying "bang." Perhaps we need to rethink who goes to the noisy part of future wars.

The regime will likely face a televised revolt complete with stirring events that will live forever in the annals of human liberty. But they'll lose and be destroyed in detail because it will be a sting, an in-house enterprise. They know Americans want an opposition with a cafeteria and a Rebel of the Month parking space. Only the regime can provide such a thing, and provide one it will. It's almost a rule, anything that appears to be as the regime declares it to be is bogus at a deeper level. It won't be pointless however. People deluded enough to confuse Mitt Romney with "Seldom Seen" Smith will be thrilled with a well-produced scam telecast in HD, the better to press the cautionary tale deeply into their minds. The part where common sense used to be.

However, the regime is not like gravity, something that 'just is'. It can be opposed for real and may well be. You'll know it's the real thing when you don't see it. Example: during the Korean War of the early 1950s Russian pilots were taking on the US Air Force. The US government knew it. The Soviet government knew it. The American people didn't know it. Both sides kept the secret from them, with cooperation by the news media—deeply captured toadies even then. So it would be with a real opposition. That's how it works.

A real opposition would likely be a resistance movement, ultraorthodox and non-confrontational. Imagine the Zealots informed by 4GW rather than ghost dancers. Just as no one rang a bell and announced the economic collapse had begun, so there would be no declaration a genuine resistance was underway, in fact, its existence would be in doubt until the era was over, by intent all around. Their doings would be put down as terrorism, not without cause, just as the Zealots had the Sicarii. If it materializes, a genuine resistance would eventually dominate substantial territory and conduct themselves as a parallel, legitimate government functioning as state agencies and public utilities do now, all but forcing the regime into the role of an invading or occupation force.

The press is an appendage to the permanent government. Accept it as such. Nonetheless, should a resistance arise assume there is covert understanding to be had from their reportage. Weigh carefully: deaths or disappearances of key figures, catastrophic failures of infrastructure, implausible 'routine' military exercises, unlikely retirements and sudden resignations at high levels of government, weird prohibitions and outlier regulations, serial transportation mishaps or any similar occurence that happens over and over, headline news recast or retracted or abandoned in the days following the event, shortages of common items, or the like.

Life will be all the more unpleasant because panicky politicians direct the response of the police and military, and do it badly. This plays into the hands of a resistance. Asymmetrical warfare relies on big, bureaucratic opponents grossly overreacting and expending itself in the doing. Think of this when you see video of high-dollar helicopters firing $70,000 Hellfire anti-armor missiles at single riflemen in Afghanistan. Add the cost of flying and maintaining a helicopter, supporting the air crew, supporting and equipping the ground crew, and the bill for transporting all this to Afghanistan. Compare it to the cost of putting an Afghan rifleman in the field and you have the logic of asymmetrical warfare. The rifleman bleeds on the battlefield, the other bleeds figuratively but massively, continuously and uncontrollably.

The manic excesses of the "war on terrorism" would be intensified, tipping ever more Americans into true rebellion. They know it, it's an accepted side effect. This is usually talked about in political terms but the practical downside is significant. Americans are a well armed people even aside from firearms. For instance, critical nodes are known most intimately by those who install and maintain them, and it's easier to get thermite or microcircuitry in Minneapolis than in Mogadishu. If much of the populace were to participate in small ways the cumulative effect would unhinge the establishment. DC would go full retard if countermeasures produced no lasting results. Imagine a thermostat where the "on" and "off" setting is the same. The furnace it controls cycles itself to destruction while accomplishing nothing. So says 4GW theory anyway.

On the other side, it's always a stretch to believe random violence and willful destruction of wealth is an honorable thing, it diminishes the perpetrator as well as his opponent. Resistance outfits also have a history of making unsupportable demands on the populace. Often they devolve into criminal enterprises of the basest kind. It's been said as far back as Plato there are no good crowds, at the least not good for long. Recall the Mafia had respectable origins.

Take special care when partisan fervor is afoot, the life of the mind is fully capable of destroying the life of the body. Recall it was the Zealots who destroyed the food stores of Jerusalem* to stiffen the people's resolve during the Roman siege of the year 70. A much reduced Jerusalem surrendered when the last rat was eaten. Duh. Core Zealots fell at Masada years later, well fed. Secular zealots are already among us and their numbers aren't getting smaller.

It's foolish to turn your back on a bear, if it's in sight at all it's too close. That said, all this is improbable. It takes an industrial grade tinfoil hat to entertain such notions. But history is a good predictor, if pretty much the only predictor, and there are parallels to times past. The so-called Business Plot of 1933 art-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only-rev01.gif comes to mind. The venerable formula still applies: risk equals severity times probability. The severity is about as high as it gets, the probability is not nothing and appears to be rising. And consider this: the tinfoil hats may be underestimating what's coming. Now is the time to think about these things. The prudent have already achieved something approaching self sufficiency, well away from crowds. There are no do-overs.

A hero betrayed: Wife's fury over SAS husband jailed for 'trophy' gun

Unbelievable.  As if we need more truth that the country is doomed.

Sgt Danny Nightingale was sentenced to 18 months by a court martial for illegally possessing the 9mm Glock – given to him by the Iraqi army
A furious military wife whose SAS hero husband has been jailed for possessing a war trophy pistol said the Army “hung him out to dry”.

Sgt Danny Nightingale, who has served his country for 17 years, was sentenced to 18 months by a court martial last week for illegally possessing the 9mm Glock – given to him by the Iraqi army for outstanding service.

Now the special forces sniper’s devastated wife Sally claims he was betrayed and that the family face losing their home after his pay was stopped.

She said yesterday: “I  had to tell my two daughters – Mara, who is five and Alys, who’s just two and a half – that daddy wasn’t coming home.

“I cannot bear to tell them that he’s in prison and will not be home for a long time.

“Danny has been hung out to dry. He is a hero who has been betrayed by the Army and the Government.”

Danny will be discharged from the Army and get a criminal record. Even his former commanding officer in Iraq blasted the sentence.

Lt Col Richard Williams said: “His military career has been ruined and his wife and children face being evicted – this is a total betrayal of a man who dedicated his life to the service of his country.”
Danny had planned to fight the charge but pleaded guilty after he was warned he could face five years in prison if he lost.

He was given the Glock in 2007 after serving in Iraq fighting al-Qaeda and  planned to donate it to his regiment as a war trophy.

But he came home in a hurry when two friends were killed there, leaving colleagues to pack up his equipment – including the pistol.

And when he collapsed during an SAS fundraising trek in 2009, experts said he suffered severe memory loss.

Last year, he was living in a house with another soldier whose estranged wife claimed he kept ammo there and police found Danny’s Glock in a raid.

Sally added: “Two expert witnesses said it was completely possible that his brain injury meant that he never knew the gun existed.”

Danny’s legal team aims to appeal. His lawyer Simon McKay said: “I consider the sentence to be excessive and the basis of the guilty plea unsafe.”

America’s Enemies Abound Domestically

VERBATIM
“How can we account for our present situation unless we believe that men high in this Government are concerting to deliver us to disaster? This must be the product of a great conspiracy, a conspiracy on a scale so immense as to dwarf any previous such venture in the history of man. A conspiracy of infamy so black that, when it is finally exposed, its principals shall be forever deserving of the maledictions of all honest men."
 –Joseph McCarthy
After years of the left and the media demonizing Senator Joseph McCarthy, time has proven that McCarthy was correct in his allegations against the Communist threat infiltrating the American government. This actually was proven a few years ago, so Hollywood launched a movie on the spot, starring George Clooney, to once again smear McCarthy and undermine the truth. For more info Google search “Venona Secrets.”

The oath taken by government officials in current times to “protect America from enemies both foreign and domestic” has become nothing more than a joke because of Socialist corruption in our government. So many of them are “domestic” enemies, that they might as well be swearing on a stack of comic books. In that light, I want to say I admire Joseph McCarthy and his courage to expose the Communist plotters who wanted to take down the United States.

Why am I concerned with this now? You know the saying…those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. As I’ve said previously, I am not usually prone to jump onto “conspiracy” theories. I don’t like walking around the earth paranoid. It isn’t comfortable and not my usual nature. But I also can’t just sit here and watch my country get lied to day after day and watch my children’s futures just get sucked down the tubes.

There are “card carrying” Socialists in our government. Is a Socialist a Communist? Well….what do you think? Ask Marx!

When Communism got slapped down in the 1930′s the ideology did not go away. It morphed. The very insidious enemy of the United States decided to change it’s vocabulary to make it more palatable. (put a whole lotta ketchup on that cardboard sandwich.) They realized they weren’t going to subvert America in one generation. They took the “death by inches” (also known as “death by a thousand cuts) approach. They decided they would hide the “Communist” moniker and go for the “Socialist” nomenclature. They have co-opted the word Democracy, making you think that Democracy means a guaranteed result of wealth for everyone. Now, instead of calling themselves “Liberals” they call themselves “Progressives.” So clever they are. What person is going to say they don’t want “Progress?” If you don’t want “Progress,” why, you must be an old fuddy duddy stick in the mud who is passe…..think “Bitter Clinger.” One of their most effective strategies is to redefine the language. And they are succeeding…unless you recognize it and call them exactly what they are: lying Communist traitors.

There are enemies of freedom afoot in our government. They don’t believe in freedom. They believe in Communism, totalitarian government rule over all of us. They don’t believe in free enterprise. They believe in “Nationalizing” every business / industry in the country. They are doing it by way of “a thousand cuts.” The “Stimulus Bill,” “auto bailout,” or “TARP” of today might as well be incorporated into the “Communist Manifesto.” That is exactly what it is, in its original form.

If the public would or could wise up to the vocabulary tricks of the Socialists who are taking over our country…then maybe we would have a chance to save ourselves. But as long as Hollywood, the media, and the politicians are going to lie, cheat, steal, subvert freedom, pervert the language we speak, and all the while….call it “Progress” (Hope and Change, see my definitions in previous post)…the air is filled with the stench of a dying corpse of what used to be America.

If you are reading this and you have any courage at all, use your voice to speak out against them. They are showing themselves brashly and with arrogance. You can make a difference by telling them exactly what you think of their Communist / Socialist language.

Deadly Indiana blast puzzles officials and residents

Via walfred

With no hint of a problem in advance, in particular no tell-tale smell of a gas leak, authorities and residents in a southern Indianapolis neighborhood are trying to make sense of an enormous blast that obliterated two homes and made dozens more uninhabitable. Fire officials expressed amazement that only two people died in the late Saturday explosion so powerful that the devastation spread for blocks from its epicenter. Hundreds of residents were forced to evacuate their Richmond Hill homes, some never to return. Windows and doors were blown in. The blast rocked several houses entirely from their foundations and was so loud it awoke people three miles away.
A fire burned for hours, engulfing dozens of homes. Early Monday, Indianapolis public safety director Troy Riggs said forensic investigators were talking with utility companies and others as they tried to determine the cause. “We need to make sure that we get some of the forensics back and that we follow where the evidence takes us,” Riggs told WISH-TV. U.S. Rep. Andre Carson, who represents the area, has said he had been told a bomb or meth lab explosion had been ruled out.

Vandals graffiti "Beef Cake" on Lee Monument

For the second time this year, somebody vandalized the famous Robert E. Lee statue on Monument Avenue. Neighbors tell NBC12, they're tired of vandals targeting a piece of Richmond's history.
Hundreds of cars travel around the Lee Monument every day and on this holiday weekend, the words "Beef Cake" stood out for all to see. A Capitol police officer saw the message while on patrol Sunday morning.

As word spread of the vandalism, the group Virginia Flaggers gathered. Group members say they want to honor their ancestors who fought during the civil war.

"It's sad to see any monument representing a confederate or a union veteran defaced. In fact Robert E. Lee spent 47 years in the United States Army," said Barry Isenhour, a flagger.

Aaron Goldberg says graffiti is something he sometimes sees along the famous avenue.
"It's one thing to tag a street sign in an alley, or a garbage can, but that's a treasure of the city," he said.

No Red Tape? Non-Union FEMA Crews, Water and Other Supplies Sit Idle Thanks To Unions & Red Tape

Via TSP

It’s been two weeks since Hurricane Sandy killed 113 people, wiped out portions of towns, and knocked out power to millions. It has also been two weeks since Barack Obama pledged, “No bureaucracy. No red tape.”

However, according to multiple public and private sources, unions and union-related red tape are causing workers from out of state to be turned back, as well as workers contracted by FEMA, as well as tons of supplies, already in New York and New Jersey to sit idle—at a cost of millions to taxpayers.

It has already been well publicized though the Daily Caller how the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers demanded unionization of out-of-state utility workers in order for them to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Long Island’s Newsday reported over the weekend that the union’s demands cost New York 125 extra workers to help with restoring electricity to those in the dark.
Barry Moline, executive director of the Florida Municipal Electric Association, said Long Island could have received 125 additional workers from utilities across Florida as soon as two days after the storm if a dispute about the letters had been resolved sooner. He said most of the crews from Florida who were available were nonunion and refused to join Local 1049 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, even if only temporarily.[snip]
Crews that could have come to Long Island went instead to Pennsylvania, Moline said. “We could have been there on Wednesday, and instead we arrived on Sunday,” he said, after the union rescinded the requirement. [Emphasis added.]

It gets worse.

Senate Intelligence Committee to Probe FBI Handling of Petraeus E-mail Affair

Ridiculous.  The WH most certainly knew and covered it up until after the election.  Par for the course in this administration.

The Senate Intelligence Committee will investigate why the FBI failed to immediately notify the White House and Congress when it discovered that ex-CIA Director David H. Petraeus was involved in an extramarital affair.

The FBI began investigating after a woman, a friend of Petraeus and his wife Holly complained to law enforcement about receiving harassing e-mails, according to two officials briefed on the probe.
California Senator Dianne Feinstein, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said she hasn’t been told the second woman had an affair with Petraeus. “She was frightened and went to the FBI,” said Feinstein, a Democrat, appearing yesterday on “Fox News Sunday.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation traced the threatening e-mails to Paula Broadwell, 40, the author of a Petraeus biography. Broadwell’s messages warned the woman to stay away from Petraeus, said the officials briefed on the probe, who asked for anonymity to discuss information that hasn’t been released. The probe also found e-mails that showed an affair between Broadwell and Petraeus, they said.

A senior U.S. military official identified the woman who reported the e-mail threats as Jill Kelley, 37, who lives in Tampa, Florida and serves as an unpaid social liaison to MacDill Air Force Base, site of the military’s Central Command and Special Operations Command, the Associated Press reported.

TSA Officers Granted Higher Uniform Allowance Than Combat Marines

Via Don

After ratifying its first collective bargaining agreement with the union American Federation of Government Employees last week, the Transportation Security Administration is being criticized by some for focusing on “workplace grievances” instead of improving security.

Among the agreements made, as noted by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-FL) in a press release is that TSA officers’ uniform allowances will double, leading them to have more allocated for their attire than some in the military:
Under the labor agreement, TSA employees will see their uniform allowances nearly double to $446 per year. By comparison, a combat Marine Lieutenant receives a one-time uniform allowance of $400. The cost of the increase in TSA uniform allowance is an estimated $9.63 million annually.

Military timeline from night of Benghazi attack begs more questions

After more than nine weeks of trying to reconcile their story line with that of the State Department and the CIA, the Pentagon finally released its timeline of the Libya terror attack during a Friday afternoon, off-camera briefing with an official who could only be quoted anonymously.

The news was overtaken almost immediately by the announcement that Gen. David Petraeus had resigned, due to an extramarital affair. He was slated to testify in closed-door hearings on Capitol Hill this coming week before the Senate and House intelligence committees. Petraeus no longer plans to testify.

Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, told "Fox News Sunday" that she "absolutely" thinks Petraeus' resignation has no connection to the Libya matter but he could be called to testify before Congress at a later date.

"We may well ask," the California senator told Fox.

However, while the Petraeus resignation has since dominated attention in Washington, an examination of the military’s version of events reveals a number of discrepancies and gaps worth closer scrutiny.

Foodstamps Surge By Most In One Year To New All Time Record Of 47.1 Million People, Report Delayed Until After Election

While there had been speculation that the BLS may delay the release of its October nonfarm payroll number until after the election, it turned out there was no reason to worry. Perhaps this is because the number, while at stall speed, was not quite as horrible as some had expected (even if the change in average hourly earnings did tumble to new all time lows) and so boosted Obama's reelection chances. There was, however, another closely tracked number which perhaps is far more indicative of the economic "growth" in the past 4 years, which certainly had a delayed release.

The number of course is that showing how many Americans are on foodstamps, and usually is released at the end of the month, or the first day or two of the next month. This time the USDA delayed its release nine days past the semi-official deadline, far past the election, and until Friday night to report August foodstamp data. One glance at the number reveals why: at 47.1 million, this was not only a new all time record, but the monthly increase of 420,947 from July was the biggest monthly increase in one year. One can see why a reported surge in foodstamps ahead of the elections is something the USDA, and the administration may not have been too keen on disclosing.

How to Bounce Back From a Blackout that Lasts

 Toronto ON 2003 Blackout

Sandy the third major blackout in the northeastern US in less than two years.  Unfortunately, it’s a sign of things to come.

We can expect many more in the future as environmental and economic conditions worsen.

Fortunately, we have a great community building here, willing to ask the right questions and share insights and experience.

Here’s two reader letters that address how to bounce back from a blackout that lasts a week or more.

Reader Question

Hi John,

I am one of those New Yorkers that’s been without power for 11 days now. It’s still going to take a while to get back online b/c a utility pole on our property went down and the power company would not deal with just one customer until the whole grid is back. So even though our neighborhood may be back soon we will still be in the dark (and cold).

I am looking to get the Generac whole house generator you recommended b/c we have natural gas. I do not want to go through this experience again of having no power for so long. We have a 2-year-old girl and it’s been tough to keep her cozy and warm.

Someone told me that the cost of installing an NG generator is astronomical. Since I am looking at purchasing the same 20,000 watt one you have could you tell me what a fair installation price would be?

Oh, we already have NG in the house for our oven, hot water heat and clothes dryer so no cost to run the pipe to the house.

Thanks for teaching me so many interesting and useful things!

P

Dear P,

Installation and equipment on a generator of that size will likely run you 50% of the purchase cost.  That’s likely to be about $3,000 in the New York area.

CEO of Papa John's says employees' hours will likely be cut due to ObamaCare

The CEO of popular pizza chain Papa John's says his employees may face reduced hours and he expects his business costs to rise because President Obama's re-election most likely insures the president's health care reform law will be implemented in full.

NaplesNews.com reports John Schnatter made the remarks to a small group at Edison State College's Collier County campus the day after the election.

Schnatter, who supported Mitt Romney in the election, said all Americans having health insurance under ObamaCare is a good, but estimates the change will cost Papa John's $5 million to $8 million annually.
Schnatter estimated that these rising costs could adversely affect his workers. Since only full-time employees working 30 hours or more must be covered under the new law, he said he expects franchise owners will be forced to cut employees' hours because they can't afford the costs of health insurance plans.
"That's probably what's going to happen," he said according to NaplesNews.com. "It's common sense. That's what I call lose-lose."

The comments were not Schnatter's first statements on ObamaCare. He made headlines in August for telling shareholders the law may lead to increases in the price of his pizza.

In addition, the Applebee’s family restaurant chain is under public attack, including the threat of boycotts after New York-area franchisee Zane Tankel told Fox Business Network that cost increases related to implementing ObamaCare might result in no expansion or additional hiring. Critics appear to have interpreted Tankel’s comments to mean he will layoff customers as a result of ObamaCare.

Former CIA Officer: White House 'Lying' Over Petreaus Investigation & Several Cover ups Going On

"They had to have known and for them to say they were intercepting e-mails and reading the CIA Director emails and not reporting that to the White House is bull... what the DNI should have done should have done is call him and say 'What is this? What is this? What is going on here?' instead of waiting... They are not telling the truth. They get pants on fire award. The White House is not telling the truth. It is politically engineered by all of you would not be reading the doing the investigation in the diameter of the justice without informing the white house. They are lying."

Ron Kessler on Petraeus Resignation: There Are Several Cover-ups Going On

onald Kessler, Chief Washington Correspondent for Newsmax “There are several cover-ups going on here. One is the claim that the President Obama was not aware of what was going on with the FBI investigation… Simply look at the facts. Is there any way the FBI would launch an investigation on the CIA Director without telling the president? The second cover-up was the fact that the FBI was told to hold off on this until after the election. I was told in early October that the FBI was outraged about this… It started in a very strange way. The FBI came across emails on his military email account in which he referred to doing something under the desk. And there was a misinterpretation that that meant corruption, something under the table. It actually meant sex under the desk.“

Obama Likely Won Re-Election Through Election Fraud

So how did Romney lose a race that numerous reputable polls and pundits predicted would be an easy win, based on historical patterns? The most realistic explanation is voter fraud in a few swing states. According to the Columbus Dispatch, one out of every five registered voters in Ohio is ineligible to vote. In at least two counties in Ohio, the number of registered voters exceeded the number of eligible adults who are of voting age. In northwestern Ohio's Wood County, there are 109 registered voters for every 100 people eligible to vote. An additional 31 of Ohio's 88 counties have voter registration rates over 90%, which most voting experts regard as suspicious. Obama miraculously won 100% of the vote in 21 districts in Cleveland, and received over 99% of the vote where GOP inspectors were illegally removed.

The inflated numbers can't just reflect voters who have moved, because the average voting registration level nationwide is only 70%. The vast majority of voters over the 70% level are not voting because they want to, they are voting because someone is getting them to cast a vote, one way or another. Those 31 counties are most likely the largest counties in Ohio, representing a majority of Ohio voters. This means the number of votes cast above the 70% typical voter registration level easily tops 100,000, the margin Obama won Ohio by.

Voting fraud, censorship, group preferences - three ways the Left wrongfoots the Right

Via comment by anon2 on When the Optics no longer matter...

Charlton Teaching

VERBATIM

Voting is a Leftist process. The outcome of a vote has zero intrinsic validity because it has zero personal responsibility.

Therefore when the Left engages in voting fraud, as it increasingly does at every level from mass immigration, mass generation of dependency, rigging of electoral districts, down to manipulation of voting procedures, intimidation, fake votes, open and public ballots, false counting and the rest of it - then the Right cannot complain.

Because if the Right does complain, it unavoidably puts itself into the position of arguing for something it ought to be against - voting.

For the Right it is voting which is the problem, not whether voting is done fairly or foully.

The Left recognizes that the process of voting is meaningless - what matters is getting the 'correct' answer.

The Right ought to agree - the difference being that the Right knows the Left has the wrong answer.

It is the Left's ideology which is evil, not the mechanism by which they impose it.

[Having said that - to lie is evil; the Left's voting fraud is itself evil, because it is dishonest: doubly-dishonest in its operating covertly behind lyingly idealistic justifications, and dishonest in its denial that it is happening - its covering-up.]

The Left is engaged in wholesale censorship of material in the public domain - from school textbooks right through to the cover-up of massive government evil-doing.

It is tempting for the Right to argue against this
as censorship and argue instead for freedom of speech, freedom to publish oppositional views, or a 'balance' of views, or whatever...

But the Left is correct to use censorship - censorship is necessary and desirable. The Right should not attack the Left for using censorship.

However, the Left censors Good: excludes
God from the agora; from schools, administration, newspapers, movies and the television.

The Right should be clear that it wants and needs to control the public discourse, just as the Left now does; but for the opposite purpose.

The Left uses affirmative action, quotas and preferential policies to appoint members of favoured groups to desirable positions, to allocate resources, and to propagandize their status; and it is temping for the Right to oppose these on grounds of functionality or merit, and instead to advocate group-blind policies, or objective and impartial hiring and promotions.

But the Left is correct to perceive that partiality and prejudice are inevitable and instruments of social improvement.

The problem is that the Left is evil, and so deploys preferences and quotas to exclude those who most deserve them, and to destroy society rather than to sustain it.

The Right needs to embrace the partiality and prejudice which the Left has imposed; but reverse its valence.

In general, the Right should be distinguished from the Left primarily in terms of its purpose, not its procedures.

The Left wants an atheist, nihilist and hedonic society of existentially-isolated individuals; the Right wants a religious society.

The main methodological difference is that the Left is free to lie and cheat and deny and fabricate - since that is consistent with its own demonic motivations; while the Right must be realistic and truthful, since from a transcendental perspective the means cannot be dissociated from the ends.

For the Right, the means are, indeed, very much part of the end.

Raleigh: Nullify Now!

Via NC Renegade

 \

Thomas Jefferson: “Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers….a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy.”

But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it’s been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

We’ve been asked by some people to bring this tour to Raleigh, and we’re excited about the prospects! Putting this event together takes a lot of dedication, numerous local groups supporting and helping promote, and generating the start-up funding to get it off the ground. Bottom line? WE NEED YOUR HELP! Here’s the process:

FBI Suppressed Petraeus Scandal to Protect President

Criminals occupy the WH.

Ronald Kessler reporting from Washington, D.C. — FBI agents investigating CIA Director David Petraeus's affair were shocked when told by bureau officials that despite the national security implications, no action would be taken on their findings until after the presidential election: Only then would President Obama ask for Petraeus’ resignation.

The White House claims President Obama and his national security advisors were first informed of the Petraeus' affair on Thursday, two days after the election.

But the  official timeline strains credulity. Senior FBI officials suppressed disclosure of the highly sensitive case, apparently to avoid embarrassment to Obama during his re-election campaign.

On Oct. 10, I was contacted by a longtime FBI source who told me that a bureau investigation had uncovered Petraeus’ affair with a journalist and that it could potentially jeopardize national security.

The veteran agent related to me that FBI agents assigned to the case were outraged by what were they were told by senior officials: The FBI was going to hold in limbo their findings until after the election.

“The decision was made to delay the resignation apparently to avoid potential embarrassment to the president before the election,” an FBI source told me. “To leave him in such a sensitive position where he was vulnerable to potential blackmail for months compromised our security and is inexcusable.”

Hiding Objects Within the Home

Most people have something to hide regardless if the object is valuable, sensitive, dangerous, illegal, or subject to confiscation. Storing objects in a safe under key or combination lock can be a good security measure, but not everyone wants a large, heavy, and expensive safe and a small safe bolted to the floor can only contain a limited number of items.

A safe of any size also commands attention from thieves and police as something which is virtually guaranteed to hold something special. Depending on size and weight, thieves sometimes take the entire safe without knowing what is inside.

If the homeowner is present then a burglar with a gun or police with a warrant can persuade them to open the safe immediately. Again, a safe can provide a high level of security, but sometimes it can also make sense to hide things in other locations around the home.

Most people also tend to hide things in places which can be found quite easily by burglars and police. For example, objects which have been hidden in a typical home can usually be found in a drawer or closet located in the master bedroom. Burglars and police know this to be true so they often begin their search in that part of the house.

Regardless if the home invader is a burglar or police, the amount of time they can invest in a search is limited. To be productive home invaders tend to follow the same basic three-part rule when conducting a search: 1) Look for interesting items which are openly-displayed, 2) shift attention to the most interesting containers, and 3) inspect other containers which are likely to hold something interesting. If you haven’t guessed already, they are looking for interesting things.
