House Postpones Vote Against Libya War Over Fear It Might Pass

Antiwar.com

Boehner Concerned Vote Demanding End to War Might 'Adversely Effect' War

For a nation in a state of perpetual war, antiwar votes are a time honored tradition giving the antiwar Congressmen a chance to act like they’re accomplishing something and their more jingoistic brethren a chance to give flag-waving speeches denouncing the resolution as treason. All that changed last week when one of those run-of-the-mill Afghan votes came within 9 members of passing.

The House had also been promising a vote sometime this week on a resolution demanding the end of the Libya War. Today, however, the Republican leadership announced it is postponing the vote indefinitely because of growing concern that it might actually pass.

'Schalit's kidnappers are 'dying in unfortunate accidents''

"Hamas knows that Israel will do everything to release Gilad Schalit. [Hamas Prime Minister Ismail] Haniyeh and the Hamas chief of staff don't know where Gilad is being held. A group is holding him, and it knows," he said.
"Many of them are no longer with us. [They are] unfortunate ones, all sorts of accidents [are befalling them]," Vilnai added.
"Everyone who was involved in the kidnapping won't need to worry about an old age home. They won't get there."

The Sack Of Athens AL

Via The Battle of Atlanta

A Russian brought turmoil to Athens in 1862. Union Col. John Basil Turchin, born Ivan Vasilovitch Turchinov in 1820 near St. Petersburg, Russia, invaded the town May 2 and told his men, "I see nothing for two hours."

This historic marker ensures the town will never forget that Union Col. Basil Turchin let his men plunder Athens.

This historic marker ensures the town will never forget that Union Col. Basil Turchin let his men plunder Athens.
During those two hours, his men raped a black woman, scared a pregnant white woman who miscarried and died, and took or destroyed more than $54,000 in property, including about 200 Bibles, which soldiers trampled.

"Not during the remainder of the war was such wanton destruction of property seen by those men," wrote participant Sgt. George H. Putenney of the 37th Indiana.

A once pro-Union town became an enraged town, forcing Turchin's court-martial and delighting in his death in a mental institution. (Though the Tyrant Lincoln pardoned him after the court martial, true to his Marxist thinking.)

Sisters pen book on Davie County, NC Confederate Soldiers

Via Southern Nationalist Network

Davie County sisters, Mary Alice Hasty and Hazel Winfree, spent years compiling and preparing a book that lists all of the 1,147 Davie County men that served in the Civil War. Photo by Jon C. Lakey, Salisbury Post.

For five years, sisters Mary Alice Hasty and Hazel Winfree relied on John Spillman to supply the ham biscuits and coffee for breakfast or the tomato soup and grilled sandwiches for lunch.

Meanwhile, they sat at Spillman’s dining room table — piled high with their research — and wrote out in long-hand the manuscript for a state award-winning book, “The Civil War Roster for Davie County, North Carolina.”

“I was a referee,” Spillman says, laughing. “I kept them from clawing and biting each other. I kept the momentum going and gave them the praise they needed.”

The sisters called him their business manager. His pay in the end: a free book.

Published in 2009, the women’s book gives short biographies of 1,147 Davie County Confederate soldiers before, during and after the war.

It’s filled with photographs and includes invaluable extras such as the company and regiment rosters for Davie County soldiers, townships covered by the census information they used, cemeteries in Davie County where Confederate soldiers are buried, the names of the Davie men who died in the Civil War and a complete bibliography and index.

“It would make a movie,” Spillman says of the sisters’ devotion to the project. “Not ‘Gone With the Wind,’ but ...

“The sequel,” Winfree says, finishing the thought.

National Police Misconduct NewsFeed Daily Recap 05-31-11

First I wanted to mention an article from Tulsa OK by This Land Press which discusses an excessive force incident that happened in 2000 but appeared to have slipped under the radar even though it resulted in the officer being disciplined with a 2-day suspension. The article cites our statistics in regard to Tulsa and is very well written so I do recommend reading it… but it also highlights the problems we face trying to track and document police misconduct… this incident took years to come to light, who knows how many others never do. Still, we try to do the best we can to track what we do find, someone has to.

The case cited, by the way, resulted in disciplinary action against an officer who was shown on dashcam video kicking a passenger in a car after he surrendered following a high-speed chase. I’m checking to see when the disciplinary action occurred to determine if it belongs in our database.

Now, here are the 17 reports of police misconduct tracked in our National Police Misconduct News Feed for this Tuesday, May 31, 2011:

Criminal complaint charges Obama birth record 'forged'

This is the first of three articles on the criminal complaint that scanner-expert Doug Vogt filed last week with the FBI.

An international expert on scanners and document-imaging software filed a 22-page criminal complaint with the FBI, charging that the long-form birth certificate released by the White House is criminally fraudulent.

"What the Obama administration released is a PDF image that they are trying to pass off as a Certificate of Live Birth Long Form printed on green security paper by the Hawaiian Health Department," Doug Vogt writes, "but this form is a created forgery."

Vogt's criminal complaint asserts: "I have irrefutably proven that the Certificate of Live Birth that President Obama presented to the world on April 27, 2011, is a fraudulently created document put together using the Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator programs, and the creation of this forgery of a public document constitutes a class B felony in Hawaii and multiple violations under U.S. Code section Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 47, Sec.1028, and therefore an impeachable offense."

When the Obama birth certificate "forgery" comes to the public's attention, Vogt continues, "It will surpass all previous scandals including the Watergate scandal of the Nixon administration."

Since 1993, Vogt has owned Archive Index Systems Inc., in Bellevue, Wash., a company that sells a wide variety of document scanners worldwide and develops document imaging software.

Before that, Vogt owned Nova Typesetting for 11 years.

LOOMING ECONOMIC DISASTER

Via Causatpatet

It’s a fundamental principal of economics that if one person knows far more than another about a job and will work for much less, that first person will be awarded the job. Currently, relatively few American high school students are taking such subjects as both physics and calculus. However, according to Bob Compton (producer of the DVD “2 Million Minutes”), there are in China and India about 50 million high school students who are taking four years of each of the following: biology, chemistry and physics, with the senior year integrating all three subjects. Moreover, they take four years each of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus, with the subjects integrated every year!

Other nations are serious about education and we are not. At least one high school in China with 10,000 students begins at 6 A.M. with calisthenics, and students don’t leave until 10 P.M. This is while American youth seem more interested in playing video games.

What is actually happening is a global transformation to a techno-feudal Socialist future, depicted by this photo taken recently in China showing a modern skyscraper occupied by a technical or business elite while two women cut the building’s grass with scissors. On the one hand, a Chinese company, BYD, after making cars only five years beat Detroit with the first mass-produced electric car and at only about half the cost. While at the same time another Chinese factory making baby clothes for an American company maximizes productivity by incentivizing workers to remain at their work stations even when they need to go to the restroom (there were no restrooms on site and the place reeked of urine).

Just as American companies have specialized divisions within them, in China entire towns have specialized.

BARACK OBAMA AND GEORGE BUSH KILL HOUSTON POLICE OFFICER

COP KILLER JOHOAN RODRIGUEZ - TWICE DEPORTED!
COP KILLER JOHOAN RODRIGUEZ - TWICE DEPORTED

Another police officer has lost his life because the government refuses to enforce federal immigration laws. The past two presidents have shown zero interest in halting the massive flow of illegal immigrants who prey on innocent Americans while living off of welfare! Barack Obama even joined Mexico in suing Arizona when it passed SB1070 to enforce federal law themselves! Obama clearly has no intention of enforcing immigration law! George Bush had the audacity to call anyone who opposed his amnesty plan ‘racist.’ Both are disgusting to me.

This past Sunday in Houston, police officer Kevin Will was killed by a drunk illegal alien (surprise!) while making a traffic stop. Honduran Johoan Rodriguez was drunk when he ran over Officer Will who had pulled over another driver. Officer Will actually pushed the other driver out of the way and saved his life while sacrificing his own. The illegal alien Rodriguez had been deported twice but, of course, made his way back into the country. You see, contrary to the lies of Hussein Hopenchange, America does not have border walls. We have wide open borders for illegals, drugs and terrorists! Officer Will leaves behind two children and a pregnant wife. President Bush would probably call them racists.

The past six police officers killed in Houston have all been killed at the hands of illegal invaders! How long do we suffer this? A recent report in the Houston Chronicle stated that 70% of all illegal aliens in Texas are utilizing at least one form of taxpayer funded welfare! In Dallas alone, over $1 billion is spent every year educating, medicating and incarcerating illegal aliens who do not belong here!

Yet politicians, even Texas politicians, show NO interest in stopping the flood of illegals and/or deporting them. Libtards say, “it’s impossible to deport them all.” Really? How does anyone know? We should heavily fine every business that hires illegals like they do in Arizona and see how many stay. We must elect federal lawmakers who will insist immigration laws are finally upheld and illegals deported. Of course, we build an impenetrable border wall that will keep them on their side. Provide Americans tax breaks or other compensation for turning in illegals for deportation. Whatever it takes to remove these dangerous leeches from America! What we spend deporting them would pale in comparison to the hundreds of billions we spend on them each year and the suffering caused by them being here!

The blood of Officer Wills and the previous five Houston police officers stains the incompetent hands of Barack Obama and George Bush. While they sleep soundly in their comfortable homes tonight, the lives of two children and one wife are destroyed! Maybe that will give Obama something to think about before he tees off tomorrow!

I don’t know about you but
