Banished! Historic 'Don't Tread On Me' flag

Via NC Renegade

Tread

The city of New Rochelle, N.Y., has removed the historic Gadsden “Don’t Tread On Me” flag from a military armory, deeming the flag “too partisan” because it often is used by the tea party movement.

And in response, veterans groups have tapped the Thomas More Law Center to take up the fight.

It was after an official ceremony on March 21 at the New Rochelle Armory that a new American flag was unfurled to replace the previous weathered flag that flew at the location. Beneath the new American flag, the yellow Gadsden Flag was flown, as is common tradition on many military sites.

However, within a week of the ceremony, City Manager Chuck Strome ordered the Gadsden flag be taken down because of “unidentified complaints” that the flag was a symbol of the tea party movement.

Peter Parente, president of the United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association of New Rochelle, sent Strome links to the history of the flag so he decided to allow it to remain.

But the city council then stepped in, voting 5-2 to order the flag to be removed.

The five members who voted to uphold its removal were Democrats, while the two voting to reinstate the flag were Republicans.

That same day, the public works department removed the flag.

Now the flag fight is headed to court.

“Their outrageous decision to confiscate a cherished symbol of our War for Independence smacks of pure partisan politics,” Richard Thompson, chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, stated.

AZ Sheriff Arpaio targeted with mailbomb

Via Angry  Mike

It looks like “America’s toughest sheriff” was the intended victim of a mailbomb attack:

Authorities are investigating an explosive device addressed to Arizona’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the self-proclaimed “toughest sheriff in America” known for his tough treatment of jail inmates and cracking down on illegal immigrants.

The device intercepted in Flagstaff late Thursday was in a package addressed to Arpaio at his downtown Phoenix office, Arpaio’s office said in a statement.

It appeared suspicious, so it was X-rayed and the device was detected. A bomb squad team neutralized the explosive, the statement said.

Arpaio’s chief deputy, Jerry Sheridan, told The Arizona Republic that investigators believe the package was picked up on Thursday at a rural Post Office box. Flagstaff is about 140 miles north of Phoenix.

April 17 Trial To Determine Fate Of America

Via Angry  Mike

A startling report prepared by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) is today warning that the case known as United States v. Kebodeaux, and due to be heard by the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) on 17 April, will be the most important ruling in all of American history as should it be lost, the Obama regime, and all of those to follow, will have gained total power to rule the lives of US citizens “from cradle to grave”.

Important to understand, this report says, is that under the United States Constitution, the “general power of governing,” commonly known as the “police power,” belongs to the 50 individual American States— not to their Federal Government.

Because the US Congress has limited powers granted in the Constitution, the Federal government does not have a general police power, as the States do. The exceptions are laws regarding Federal property and the military; the Federal government was also granted broad police powers by the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887.

The main effect of this “balance of power” between the States and the Federal government, this report continues, are the different laws seen among the many States, the most contentious of them being abortion, health care, gun rights and homosexual marriage.

Not being understood by the majority of Americans, this report says, are that States are “free and able” to ignore Federal laws almost at will, but fail to do so because of the Federal governments “carrot and stick” relationship with them. For example, this report cites the mandatory seat belt laws adopted by the States after their being enticed to enact them by the Federal government offering tens of millions of dollars in funding bribes, but should they have failed to make them law they would have lost billions in matching highway funds.

So dependant upon Federal government “bribes to enact laws” have the States become over the past century, MOJ experts say in this report, the percentage of State budgets dependant upon these monies range from the lowest of North Dakota’s 25.99% to Mississippi being the highest at 49.01%, with the average being nearly 40%.

An adverse ruling in United States v. Kebodeaux, however, this report says, would forever change the current relationship between the States and Federal government giving to the latter the police power they have so long coveted, yet been denied by the US Constitution.

The case being pushed by the Obama regime to enable the Federal government to gain police power over the States has at its center a 34-year old Texas man named Anthony Kebodeaux.

Eric Holder’s Repeated Violation Of The Law & Why He Should Be Impeached

 20130412-093732.jpg

Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.”
– Harry Truman, in a speech opposing communism

Attorney General Eric Holder has again shown his true colors – his disdain for America and her laws.

Recently, he took action against the German Romeike family, which is seeking asylum in the United States after being forced to flee the country or risk losing their five children to the German government. Germany was attempting to force the Romeikes to put their children in public school against their religious beliefs in a terrifying repeat of history.

Holder said that asylum should not be granted to homeschoolers because, according to him (not the law), homeschooling is not protected under religious freedom.

Regarding education, let me set the record straight: The federal government does not have the right to break the law by implementing any type of educational curriculum. Parents are responsible for training their children in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6), not the federal government (Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution).

The fallout of federal education is stupefying. More than 700,000 students who graduate high school each year cannot even read their own diplomas. Bill Bennett, the secretary of education under Reagan, said, “The longer you stay in school in America, the dumber you get.”

Eric Holder, whose position is as a public servant, doesn’t have a right to break the law; his job is to ensure the rights of the people, not to strip them away.

Holder, who is appointed to magnify the law against crime, has instead repeatedly magnified crime against the law.

For extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy on 6 September 1944 in the vicinity of Toul, France. During the attack on a heavily fortified enemy position, Lieutenant Moore, a platoon leader, displayed great personal bravery. The main enemy fortification, a concrete and steel pillbox, was located on the crest of a hill supported by excellent fields of fire. As the attack progressed, Lieutenant Moore’s platoon was momentarily halted by enemy heavy machine-gun fire. Realizing that his platoon in its exposed position would be annihilated, Lieutenant Moore, displaying excellent leadership and total disregard for his personal safety, advanced to the vicinity of the machine-gun and silenced it with hand grenades. Although seriously wounded, Lieutenant Moore gallantry continued to lead his platoon and so inspired his men that they overran and destroyed the entire enemy position. The bravery, resourcefulness, and devotion to duty displayed by this officer are in keeping with the finest traditions of the armed forces of the United States.

Tony Perkins: ‘Don’t Give a Dime to GOP’ Until It Clarifies Positions

Image: Tony Perkins: ‘Don’t Give a Dime to GOP’ Until It Clarifies Positions

Religious conservatives should cut off all contributions to the Republican Party — until it grows a "backbone" and stops waffling on social issues like gay marriage, a leading conservative Christian group says.

In an email to supporters obtained by CNN, Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, slammed the Republican National Committee for its suggestion that the GOP should reconsider its take on same-sex marriage to attract younger voters.

"Until the RNC and the other national Republican organizations grow a backbone and start defending core principles, don’t send them a dime of your hard-earned money," Perkins said.

"If you want to invest in the political process, and I encourage you to do so, give directly to candidates who reflect your values and organizations you trust — like FRC Action."

Obama-backed Gun Control Bill Unlikely to Pass

 http://ww4.hdnux.com/photos/20/71/16/4428703/3/628x471.jpg

President Barack Obama’s bid to enact even a scaled-back version of his gun-safety agenda needs support from many of the 16 Senate Republicans who showed they’re at least willing to debate it.

He also must hold onto almost all of the 52 Democrats and independents who joined yesterday’s 68-31 vote to advance the measure for debate.

The White House already may be losing Democratic Senator Max Baucus, who voted yes for debate though said in an interview later that he has trouble with the legislation.

“I oppose the bill, I just cannot support it,” said Baucus of Montana, who faces re-election in 2014. “I’m just not going to block debate on it.”

Several Republicans said they voted yes for the same reason -- to allow the measure to advance -- though they probably won’t back it in a final vote.

“It’s a debate we ought to have,” said Republican Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia. “I don’t think I am going to support the legislation.”

The Senate agreed yesterday to move to debate on the legislation, S. 649, which would expand background checks of gun purchasers, increase funding for school safety and set new penalties for gun trafficking.

The bill, should it clear the Senate, faces an uncertain fate in the House, where Speaker John Boehner, an Ohio Republican, said he won’t make a “blanket” commitment to bring a gun measure to the floor.

Everything We've Come to Expect from Years of Amnesty Talks

Via Mike

We still don't have an amnesty bill to examine — maybe today, maybe next week, like a contractor telling you when he'll be done remodeling the bathroom. But based on Katrina Trinko's post over at National Review Online and the New York Times story, a few thoughts:

Amnesty comes first, enforcement promises second. Everyone should know this by now, but I spoke with a reporter yesterday who had been fooled, which did little to raise the MSM in my estimation. So, just as a refresher from Chuck Schumer:

"First, people will be legalized . . . then we will make sure the border is secure."

The border-security "triggers" that would move the amnestied aliens from green-card-lite to normal green cards are phony. As the Times put it: "the bill does not impose any specific measurements of border enforcement results that, if they were not met, would stop the immigrants from proceeding toward citizenship."

Here's some more from the Times, highlighting how the triggers are nothing but fig leaves to dupe gullible Republicans (apparently including Rubio):
The senators' compromise allows Republican lawmakers, including Senators John McCain of Arizona and Marco Rubio of Florida, to say that they achieved border enforcement advances in the bill as a condition before any illegal immigrants can apply for permanent-resident green cards, the first step toward citizenship.
But it also allows Democrats to describe the border measures as goals that can be achieved with the resources provided, so they will not become roadblocks that could stop the immigrants from reaching the final stage of citizenship.
This bit from Katrina's post is especially rich:
DHS will be given six months to come up with a plan to accomplish this [apprehension of 90% of border infiltrators], and then must issue a notice of commencement that they have begun to implement the enforcement policies. When five years have passed, DHS must be meeting these goals; if not, a commission will then devise additional policies that DHS will have to implement.

Police, ‘anti-gun’ prosecutor clash with soldiers in area around Fort Hood [VIDEO]

Via avordvet

The conflict between law enforcement and armed military personnel in the community around Fort Hood, one of America’s largest military bases, has recently and repeatedly involved the issue of gun control — and the tension has been exacerbated in part by an Obama-supporting prosecutor described as a “bandleader” of anti-gun efforts in the heavily conservative community.

The conflict reached a fever pitch last month, when Texas police arrested an active-duty Army sergeant for “rudely displaying” a hunting rifle. The sergeant, C.J. Grisham, established an online legal defense fund after he was, in his words, “illegally arrested and disarmed” for carrying the firearm.

“While out hiking with my son through backcountry roads to help him earn his Eagle Scout rank, I was illegally arrested and disarmed without cause. I was thrown in jail and my lawfully owned weapons were confiscated without receipt or notice,” Grisham wrote on the website for the defense fund.

Gun Owners of America Director: Boot Toomey Out of Office

The Gun Owners of America is planning a campaign to boot Sen. Pat Toomey out of office, charging the Pennsylvania lawmaker betrayed his conservative base by supporting expanded background checks.

“We have exactly 3½ years to do this and we’re going to take it very seriously. We’re going to try to hold him accountable,’’ Larry Pratt, executive director of the advocacy group, told Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.’’

NRA scoring on ‘anti-gun amendments’ may be too little too late

Via avordvet
NRA top lobbyist Chris Cox invokes political ratings to discourage defections.

Following the announcement of a compromise deal on background checks by Senators Pat Toomey and Joe Manchin that it calls “misguided,” the National Rifle Association sent a letter yesterday to members of the Senate disapproving the move, and stating such actions will affect the way it scores candidate grades.

“S. 649, the ‘Safe Communities, Safe Schools Act of 2013’ … would criminalize the private transfer of firearms by honest citizens, requiring friends, neighbors and many family members to get government permission to exercise a fundamental right or face prosecution,” Institute for Legislative Action Executive Director Chris Cox wrote. “The NRA is unequivocally opposed to S. 649.

Boehner: I Don't Need GOP to Pass Gun Law

On Thursday, in the midst of ongoing national debate over prospective gun control and comprehensive immigration legislation, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that he didn’t need the approval of a majority of his own party to move forward with legislation. Referring to the so-called Hastert Rule, named after former House Speaker Denny Hastert (R-IL), which dictated that House leadership not bring up any bill for a vote without the support of a majority of the majority party, Boehner said, “Listen: It was never a rule to begin with

Then, realizing the gravity of admitting that he could move without a majority of his own party, Boehner added, “And certainly my prerogative – my intention is to always pass bills with strong Republican support.”

1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Unrestored with One Owner Since New 16,770 miles

S144 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Unrestored with One Owner Since New Photo 1

Plymouth created an all-time legendary muscle car in 1970 in the almighty Hemi ‘Cuda. Only 652 hard tops and 14 convertibles were built, making them exceptionally rare today. Today the rarest of Hemi Cudas are ones that remain unrestored and original, a phrase that perfectly describes this amazing one-owner, genuine R-code coupe.

Offered for sale by the original owner for the very first time, it was bought new in Kentucky after the owner returned from military service. After starting a family, he moved the car to his mother’s garage across town in favor of more family-oriented transportation; it has been kept there away from the elements for 43 years, during which time it has been driven a grand total of just 16,770 miles.

The power train is the stuff of automotive lore: the venerated 426/425 HP Hemi engine with high-duration hydraulic-lifter cam, 10.28:1 compression ratio, forged rotating assembly and dual inline Carter 4-barrel carburetors, in this case topped with the optional Shaker Hood Fresh Air Package and backed by an A727 Torqueflite automatic transmission and a 4.11 rear end.

Exterior options include hood pins, chromed outside racing mirrors. The Rallye Road wheels and White-letter Goodyear Polyglas GT tires are correct new replacement items along with new factory shocks, brakes and ignition wires. Finished in the original Jamaica Blue paint with Gold body side pinstriping and Blue vinyl body side trim, the car retains its original Black interior with vinyl bucket seats, center console with Slap Stik shifter, Rallye gauges and AM/FM sound. This original, unrestored low-mileage 1970 Hemi Cuda is truly an amazing find that will instantly elevate the status of any collection.

Teen daughters lift 3,000-pound tractor to save dad

An Oregon man says his teenage daughters saved his life last weekend after they somehow lifted a 3,000-pound tractor off him after his boot slipped off the tractor's clutch and flipped.

Jeff Smith, who was tending his yard at the time, was pinned to the ground by the steering wheel. He could not breathe. He told The Democrat Herald, "I was losing more and more breath every time I screamed.

He grew more and more desperate. Smith said he pleaded to God with whatever air he still had left.
His two daughters, Hannah and Haylee, 16 and 14 respectively, had just come home from school in the town of Lebanon, which is northwest of Eugene. They were out walking the family's dog when they heard the cries. The teens ran to their father's side.

The teens say they called 911, but decided they couldn't wait for emergency crews. They each grabbed a side of the tractor and started lifting. They made headway around the seventh try.

New York State Police Confiscate Guns..From the Wrong Guy

So, about that "we'll never come take your guns thing." From The Blaze:
On April 1st, a legal gun owner in upstate New York reportedly received an official notice from the state ordering him to surrender any and all weapons to his local police department. The note said that the person’s permit to own a gun in New York was being suspended as well. The gun owner contacted attorney Jim Tresmond (a specialist in gun laws in New York) and the two visited the local police precinct.

Mr. Tresmond reportedly went into the precinct and informed the officers that his client, waiting in the parking lot, was coming in to voluntarily surrender his weapons as requested. The local police were aware of the letter because they had already been contacted by the State Police. Apparently, if people do not respond to the initial mailing, local law enforcement is authorized to visit the gun owner at their home and demand the surrender of the firearms. In this case, the gun owner followed the request as written. The guns and permits were handed over and a receipt given to the client.

After the guns were turned over, a request for a local hearing was filed and the gun owner is expecting to have his Second Amendment rights restored. But there is more to this story.

In our conversation with lawyer Jim Tresmond, we learned that this client, who has never had a problem with the law — no criminal record and or violent incidents on record — did have a temporary, short term health issue that required medication. But how were his client’s private medical information accessed by the government? This appears to be a violation of HIPAA and Health Information Privacy policies at HHS.gov. If it is declared a violation, this becomes a civil rights issue.

Banning crossbows

In Medieval Europe, Several Countries Banned crossbows and arbalests for Civilian use. The reason was transparent: protecting the monopoly of armored knights and soldiers on effective violence.

Crossbows were far easier to learn than longbows and quite effective against armor at close to medium range. In our days, crossbows are still banned in quite a few places.

American government hasn't banned the modern equivalent of the crossbow, the rifle, yet. But they did quietly ban bullets that are relatively effective against armor last year. Used primarily for dangerous game hunting, lathed brass bullets are no longer legal for civilian ownership. Even the hollow point bullets designed for controlled expansion such as shown above are considered AP based on the alloy used.

GRNC Alert: Burr LIED to NC voters

 http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/gop-senators-filibuster-gun-laws-2.jpg

Misguided US Senate gun control proposals could have been quickly killed during Thursday's vote to proceed, if not for 13 “sell-out” Republicans who cut unknown deals with Harry Reid (D-AZ). Both of our Senators voted to subject our Second Amendment rights to infringement. This is unacceptable, and they both must pay.

It was perhaps expected from Hagan given her GRNC 0-star rating, but Burr's betrayal is unforgivable. As late as Wednesday, April 10th he had pledged to join patriots like Senators Paul and Cruz in filibustering the motion to proceed. The fact the very next day he voted in favor MAKES IT CLEAR Burr has LIED to NC voters and cannot be trusted to defend our fundamental liberties.

They both may claim they “want debate” and that they don't intend to vote for the bill, and that there are opportunities to filibuster later. Don't buy it. There is nothing good that can come from this bad bill remaining alive a second longer than it has to. It is now possible to use this bill as a “vehicle” for unknown amendments that will be introduced – including Feinstein's modern rifle ban. The entire federal gun control effort could have been over today and the threat behind us. Instead, now we must watch the Senate's every move as “must pass before we know what's in it” amendments are introduced.

Both Burr and Hagan need to understand that IF ANY gun control restrictions are passed as a result of their betrayal THEY WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE!

Florida 4th Grader Brings Home Paper That Says, I Am Willing to Give Up Some of My Constitutional Rights in Order to Be Safer...
Editor’s note: This post has been updated. See below.

The words are written in crayon, in the haphazard bumpiness of a child’s scrawl.

“I am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure.”

They’re the words that Florida father Aaron Harvey was stunned to find his fourth-grade son had written, after a lesson in school about the Constitution.

Harvey’s son attends Cedar Hills Elementary in Jacksonville, Fla. Back in January, a local attorney came in to teach the students about the Bill of Rights. But after the attorney left, fourth-grade teacher Cheryl Sabb dictated the sentence to part of the class and had them copy it down, he said.

NRA Board Member Joaquin Jackson: Against civilians owning guns that hold more than five rounds

Guns America: Last Call - Vote for NRA Board Members

This Monday is the cut-off for NRA voting on members of the board. If you are eligible to vote, you got a ballot in your March magazine from the NRA. This could be First Freedom, American Rifleman or American Hunter. From what I gather, you have to be a consecutive NRA member for five years, or a Life Member, to vote for the board. There are some famous people on the board, and not just Ted Nugent. The NRA Board includes Tom Selleck, Richard Childress, Oliver North, Karl Malone, and Lee Ermy, "Gunny," as well as a lot of judges and former Congress members.

Some people on the board may represent your interests, but surprisingly others may not. For instance, if you watch this video of NRA Board Member Joaquin Jackson, around 1:14 he says he is against civilians owning guns that hold more than five rounds. A retired Texas Ranger, Mr. Jackson is so detached from American gun owners he should be voted out as soon as possible. Even though everyone at NRA is a Life or Endowment member of the NRA, we are certainly not getting into NRA politics here, but especially if you are familiar with some of the members on your ballot, send it in TODAY, Friday, so it gets there by Monday.

Brief profiles of the current NRA Board Members can be found at:

http://nra.org/board/

 http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Tom+King+NRA+President+Leads+Second+Amendment+Ih_TiMMaOXHx.jpg
Tom King, a current NRA board member who is up for re-election, gave us the heads up about the Monday deadline for NRA voting. We can't officially endorse him, but he seems like a passionate 2nd Amendment supporter in touch with the values of today's NRA members.

We were asked to send this reminder by a current NRA board member Tom King, who is up for re-election. He is one of the non-celebrity, non-industry-executive board members, but you may have seen him as a talking head on Fox & Friends, Lou Dobbs, the Lehrer Report, and a lot of local and regional newscasts, as well as a bunch of the NRA video stuff. Tom is the president of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association and is the only board member from New York, one of the states that was hit early with devastating legislation from the anti-gunners. This is a message from Tom about the board election. If you haven't sent in your ballot, LAST CALL.

April 11, 2013

Ladies and Gentlemen,

During the course of the past year membership in the NRA has grown tremendously due to the changing political situation and the re election of the President. As an NRA Board Member it is gratifying to see the gun owners of the United States choosing the NRA as their organization to defend the 2 nd Amendment but with membership comes responsibility.

The NRA is a member driven Association that is managed through the elected board of Directors. In the March issue of your magazine you should have received a ballot for the 2013 election of members to the NRA Board. It is your responsibility to vote for the Board members of your choice and you have two days left to accomplish that task. If you haven’t already submitted your ballot please mail it today or Friday at the latest so your voice is heard.

Thank you,

Tom King
NRA Board Member and a 2013 candidate for re election to the Board of Directors.

No such thing for the antis as "safe enough gun"

The Technology Behind this carbine is 1860s. The design is 1870s. This one is in .44 Mag, but they are also available in .45 Colt - again, 1870s technology that can work even with black powder and cast lead bullets. As we have seen with the recent drive to make more and more people outright ineligible for legal gun ownership, the anti freedom forces have dropped the pretense of being concerned with modern weapons alone.

States like New Jersey regulate air guns as firearms without as much as an exemption for very low power models. Anything not under their direct control that can throw an aimed projectile is anathema to them. Air guns and .22 s are useful for training and, in a pinch, they are better than nothing for defense.
