Colin Powell rips NC elections law

Via Cousin John

F. face

Get out of our state, it is none of your damn, prejudiced business.  The Democrats would love to have you, race baiter.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell blasted North Carolina's new elections law on Thursday, telling Gov. Pat McCrory point blank it was wrong for him to sign it.

Powell was the keynote speaker at the CEO Forum in Raleigh, and his comments came shortly after McCrory delivered the opening address to the gathering of business executives from across the state.

Aristocrats of the Old South

 http://photos1.blogger.com/img/200/3608/640/BRK8.jpg
Great Aunt Dixie would have been 44 and Mammy was probably between 62 and 66.

***********************************************

Southern planters wondered at how educated men and women of the North, former slaveholders and slave traders themselves, could believe that they would willingly injure black men and women under their care, or allow them to be beaten.  The sheer cruelty of New England’s slave trade and its infamous middle passage could never be surpassed by the plantations of the Old South.
Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman

"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Aristocrats of the Old South

“It is true the aristocrat of the Old South did not go into his blacksmith shop to shoe his horse nor his wife into the kitchen to cook, or to the wash tub to wash, but it was not because they were ashamed or scorned to do it, but because there was no need for them to do these things.

History has greatly maligned the old aristocrat of the South. He was not “haughty,” he was not “purse proud,” and he did not consider himself “of finer clay” than any one else, as history has unfairly represented him.

Aristocracy was then gauged by manners and morals, and not by the size of the bank account, as I fear is too much the case today.  Far more time was spent in cultivating the graces and charms of life than in amassing fortunes.  They realized that “Manners are of more importance than money and laws” – for manners give form and color to our lives.  They felt, as Tennyson said, “Manners are the fruit of lofty natures and noble minds.”

It will take us a long time to undo the falsehoods of history about the civilization of the Old South.
Who was the head of the plantation? Why, “ole Miss,”. . . Her life was a long life of devotion – devotion to her God, devotion to her church . . . devotion to her husband, to her children, to her kinfolks, to her neighbors and friends and to her servants. She could not be idle for she must ever be busy.

“Ole Marster” could delegate many of his duties to the overseer, while he entertained his guests.  He would rise early in the morning, eat his breakfast . . . Broiled chicken, stuffed sausage, spareribs, broiled ham and eggs, egg bread, corn muffins, hot rolls, beaten biscuits, batter cakes or waffles with melted butter, syrup or honey, and the half not told.

Then, after smoking his Havana cigar, he would mount his saddle and ride over the plantation to see if the orders given the day before had been fully carried out.  Then give the next day’s orders, ride to a neighboring plantation and return in time for an early dinner.  Dinner was always midday on the old plantation.  If it were summer . . . [he would] lie down on the wide verandah . . . while he took his noon-day nap.  If it were winter, he would go into his library, and, before a large, open fireplace with whole logs of wood, he would discourse upon the topics of the day with visitors.

There was no subject with which “Ole Marster” was not at home – whether politics, philosophy, religion, literature, poetry or art.  “Ole Marster’s” sons for generations had been well-educated and had a perfect familiarity with the classics – they could read Greek and Latin better than some of us can read English today.  The best magazines of the day were upon his library table, and the latest books upon his library shelves.

Time [on the plantation] was measured to Christmas, and three weeks before Christmas Day the wagons would go to the nearest city or town to lay in the Christmas supplies.  Every Negro man had to have a complete outfit, from hat to shoes; every Negro woman had to have the same from head handkerchief to shoes; each Negro child every article of clothing needed.; and warm shawls, and soft shoes, or some special gifts had to be bought for the old Negroes too feeble to work.

How happy all were, white and black, as the cry of “Christmas Gif” rang from one end to the other of the plantation, beginning early in the morning at the Big House and reaching every Negro cabin – Christmas can never be the same again.”

Gallup Unemployment Rate Spikes from 7.9% to 8.9% in 20 Days! Sampling Error or Seasonal Effect?

Inquiring minds note the steady rise all month in Gallup’s Daily Employment Survey.

7.9% August 1-2
8.0% August 3-6
8.1% August 8-8
8.2% August 9-11
8.3% August 12
8.4% August 13-16
8.6% August 17-18
8.8% August 19
8.9% August 20

Is This a Seasonal Effect? That’s quite a trend. The unemployment rate steadily rose a full percentage point in a mere 20 days.

Gallup notes “Because results are not seasonally adjusted, they are not directly comparable to numbers reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which are based on workers 16 and older. Margin of error is ±1 percentage point.“ My first inclination was the rise was part of a seasonal trend.
However, “each result is based on a 30-day rolling average; not seasonally adjusted“. To see if this was part of a normal seasonal trend, I downloaded the data which dates back to 2010. Let’s take a look at an apples-to-apples comparison of August 2013 vs. August in prior years to eliminate any seasonal bias.

Ike Boutwell owns MoviePalace and Showtime Cinemas in Elizabethtown. He tells The News-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/16QB9Er) he won't show the popular flick about a butler who served eight U.S. presidents because it has Fonda starring as former first lady Nancy Reagan.

The Burning of Lawrence

Via Adam and Maggie

 Quantrill.jpg

“Come all you bold robbers and open your ears,
Of Quantrell the Lion heart you quickly shall hear.
With his band of bold raiders in double quick time,
He came to lay Lawrence low, over the line.
Oh, Quantrell’s a fighter, a bold-hearted boy,
A brave man or woman he’d never annoy.
He’d take from the wealthy and give to the poor
For brave men there’s never a bolt to his door.

It was 147 years ago today that Captain William Quantrill led nearly 400 Missourians from Missouri over the Kansas line to Lawrence , Ks. Although potrayed in the media at the time as an inhumane act, the fact of the matter is that it was no more inhumane than the crimes that had been committed against Missourians for nearly three years prior to Quantrill’s raid on Lawrence.

Information posted by author Paul R. Peterson at www.quantrillsguerrilas.com  states:

“Lawrence citizens have always emphatically insisted that the only victims during the Lawrence raid were “peaceable, unarmed citizens.” History proves them wrong.

Chromatography in Public Schools

In an Aug. 1958 photograph, Tennessee National Guardsmen confront agitators in downtown Clinton shortly after marshal law is imposed in response to unrest sparked by the first court-ordered integration of a public school in the South. 08/01/1956 (KNS Archive)

The racial integration of American schools was achieved through the judicial activism of Supreme Court justices who have no authority under the United States Constitution to create laws.  Only Congress can legislate, though it has no authority over education in States.   Bernhard Thuersam

Chromatography in Public Schools:

No one has yet constructively and pragmatically defined what “integration” in the schools requires.

Enough survey work has been done to show that Negro parents, like white parents, are more interested in the quality of education than in the chromatic proportions of the classroom. Yet in every city so much emotion is spent weighing the numbers, the percentages, the admixture of black and white, that Negro leaders have convinced far too many of their own people that Negroes sitting together in one classroom retard each other’s education.

In cities like Washington DC, where 80% of children in public schools are Negro, or areas like Manhattan, where 69% are Negro and Puerto Rican, “integration” could be achieved only by the most mechanical and arbitrary importation of white children from distant areas.

So in the name of “integration” some Negro leaders, notable in Los Angeles and New York, are demanding that white children be transported into Negro slums to achieve proper chromatography.

Few Negro leaders in New York dare denounce the idea publicly for fear they will be blasted by others of their race for being against “integration.”  Meanwhile white parents can be tormented by a magnificently emotional appeal: “Integration means your kids will be forced on buses and shipped to Harlem with all those illegitimate and backward kids.”

The kind of confusion set up by the word “integration” as applied to education is best reflected in a conversation with a bitter young Negro student leader in Chicago who began by listing as his No. 1 demand of American society” separate but superior education for Negroes – if we could get it.”

Then, after increasingly emotional talk for an hour, he took up the matter of cross-busing white children into Negro districts and said: “The white kids got to pay for what their parents did to us.

Even at the age of 6, they got to pay – because they’re going to pay one way or the other. Besides, it will be good for them.”

NC: Gun control extremists plan Saturday attack

Irritated by Starbucks' decision to remain neutral and not ban lawful carry, anti-Second Amendment organizations have developed plans to boycott the chain this Saturday. Dubbing their misguided effort “Skip Starbuck's Saturday” antis hope to punish the brand nationwide.

As HB 937 is implemented, it will become increasingly important for us to clearly stand behind restaurants who do not interfere with expanded carry under state law.

No support is more clear than doing business with those who cooperate with us. We need to demonstrate, in a practical way, that standing behind North Carolina's gun owners is a winning proposition for restaurants. Inducing failure of this anti-Second Amendment boycott will provide initial momentum for when HB 937 becomes effective in October.

Support Starbucks Saturday

As you make weekend plans be sure to include a Saturday stop at your local Starbucks for a beverage and snack. Make sure to let your barrista know that you appreciate their respect for carry laws. Drive this message home by printing-out and handing your server the message below.

Daniel Ellsberg: US on Verge of Becoming Police State Under Obama

Daniel Ellsberg, the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers in 1971, says the United States is on the verge of becoming a police state as evidenced by the National Security Agency's data collection programs and the treatment of secret document leakers Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning.

"We have not only the capability of a police state, but certain beginnings of it right now," Ellsberg told The Huffington Post Wednesday. "And I absolutely agree with Edward Snowden. It's worth a person's life, prospect of assassination, or life in prison or life in exile — it's worth that to try to restore our liberties and make this a democratic country."

White House 'Not Familiar' With Lane Murder

Image: Jesse Jackson, White House Tepid Responses on Lane Murder Spur Race Debate

The murder of Australian Christopher Lane by three "bored" Oklahoma teens last week has set off a firestorm of controversy about what role race played in the shooting, and now the White House and Rev. Jesse Jackson are taking heat for their treatment of the crime.

Prosecutors say the teen suspects shot and killed Lane "for fun" Friday while he was out for a jog in Duncan, Okla. Lane, 22, of Melbourne, Australia, was in the U.S. attending Oklahoma's East Central University on a baseball scholarship.

"They saw Christopher go by, and one of them said: 'There's our target,'" Police Chief Danny Ford told reporters Monday. "The boy who has talked to us said, 'We were bored and didn't have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody.'"

Chancey Allen Luna, 16, and 15-year-old James Francis Edwards Jr. were charged with first-degree murder, while 17-year-old Michael Dewayne Jones, who police say drove the getaway car, was charged with using a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon and with accessory to first-degree murder after the fact.

James Johnson, the man who called police on the alleged shooters, spoke out this week, saying he believes the crime was not "for fun," as reported, but a gang initiation. He says the three youths once tried to recruit his own 17-year-old son to join, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Supposed racist tweets from one of the suspects, Edwards, were also revealed this week.

"90% of white ppl are nasty. #HATE THEM," one posting read, according to the Daily Caller.

"Ayeee I knocced out 5 woods since Zimmerman court!:)" another said.

"Woods" is reportedly a derogatory slang term for white people.

White House 'Not Familiar' With Lane Murder

Meanwhile, White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Wednesday he was "not familiar" with the Oklahoma teens' thrill kill.

Fox News' Ed Henry questioned Earnest about the murder and President Barack Obama's opinion on it during a press briefing Wednesday, but Earnest said he had not heard about the shooting.

"I'm not familiar with that actually," he said before Henry explained it to him. "This sounds like a pretty tragic case. I wouldn’t want to get ahead of the legal process here and it’s clear that law enforcement officials are involved and are investigating."

Henry then pressed him on why Obama chose to comment on the Trayvon Martin case but not the Oklahoma one.

Earnest's comments sparked outrage from Twitter users and conservative pundits alike.

John Boehner Is Scared Conservatives Are Gaining Momentum

John Boehner is scared conservatives are beginning to gain traction on the issue of defunding Obamacare. How do I know?

David Winston is rigging a poll to get some desired results.

Winston is a John Boehner adviser and his preferred pollster. In fact, internally, some Republicans grouse that Beohner uses Winston to direct his lead on issues instead of just . . . well, you know. . . leading.

Check out David Winston’s poll question.
In a national survey of 1,000 registered voters done July 31 and August 1, the question, from pollster David Winston, said, “Some members of Congress have proposed shutting down the government as a way to defund the president’s health care law” and asked respondents whether they favored or opposed that plan.
Ted Cruz has not proposed shutting down the government.

Former Georgia candidate for governor Ray McBerry Wins Settlement in Libel Suit

SWGAPOLITICS.com was formerly a successful political blog following and reporting on Georgia politics until early 2010 when the owners made the decision to publish libelous statements about businessman and then-Republican candidate for governor, Ray McBerry.  Because of Ray’s strong conservative stand for States’ Rights and the Constitution, one of the former owners took it upon himself to publish libelous reports in an attempt to tarnish Mr. McBerry’s character and to prevent his growing support in the 2010 GOP gubernatorial primary.  Although the owners received orders from Mr. McBerry’s attorney to “cease and desist” with the libel, they chose not to do so.

On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, after more than two and a half years of legal proceedings, the domain SWGAPOLITICS.com officially became the property of Ray McBerry as part of a settlement awarded in Mr. McBerry’s libel suit against the former owners — the former owners Jeff Sexton and Tom Knighton (current publisher of The Albany Journal) choosing to settle out of court rather than have a jury of their peers decide the case and the amount of award.

In addition to a cash payment and ownership of this domain, defendant Jeff Sexton also signed a confession and apology to Mr. McBerry in satisfaction of the settlement agreement as ordered by the Court.
The first cash payment has already been made to Mr. McBerry.

Kansas and Arizona file suit to change voting laws

http://media.sanluisobispo.com/smedia/2013/08/21/15/53/980-Lbakm.AuSt.55.jpeg

Kansas and Arizona filed a joint lawsuit against the federal government Wednesday over requirements needed to register to vote.

The lawsuit demands that the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission modify the federal voter registration form in both states so it would allow for proof of citizenship when people sign up to vote.

The federal form doesn’t require proof of citizenship. It only requires prospective voters to declare that they are citizens.

“A mere oath without concrete evidence of citizenship, as allowed for by the current version of the Federal Form, does not suffice to effectuate the State laws of Plaintiffs or enable Plaintiffs to obtain information Plaintiffs deem necessary to assess the eligibility of voter registration applicants and to enforce their voter qualifications,” the lawsuit reads.

Another Senseless Murder You’re Not Hearing About — and Some in the Family Wonder If It Could Be a Trayvon Martin Revenge Murder

Via Roger

 Murder suspects

It’s a senseless murder you aren’t hearing about.

A young white male was walking to his car on a city street late at night on August 12 when he was confronted by a trio of black individuals. They shot him dead. Police have arrested three people and charged them with first degree murder. But some in the victim’s family can’t understand why the shooting is being called a failed robbery when they say the evidence suggests something possibly more sinister: a hate crime.

David Santucci, 27, had just started his new job as a nurse. According to his family, “he was an awesome guy…he wanted to be a missionary…he wanted to help people.”

Convince Congress to Defund ObamaCare

http://a4cgr.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/john_birch.jpg

Back in late July Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, and a few other conservative senators started a new initiative to defund ObamaCare with a continuing resolution. Now, a month later, Senator Lee is definitely staying the course and continuing to promote the defunding of ObamaCare.

Since Congress hasn’t gotten its annual appropriations bills for fiscal 2014 passed, and since the new fiscal year begins on October 1, it’s highly likely that the federal government will be funded for the time being with a continuing resolution, as has become routine in recent years. Senator Lee’s idea is to get the House to introduce a continuing resolution that funds the government at the same level as 2013, but with a provision (that’s either in the original bill or added by amendment) that completely defunds any spending on ObamaCare in 2014.

If the House would pass such a continuing resolution, then the Senate would have the choice of passing the same bill that would defund ObamaCare, or refuse to pass it and thereby potentially force a government shutdown.

Senator Lee’s proposal, as stated in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, was initially supported by 17 senators, but after several establishment Republicans lashed out at Lee’s proposal, five senators dropped their support. At about the same time in late July, more than 60 Republicans in the House signed a letter urging Speaker John Boehner "to defund the implementation and enforcement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in any relevant appropriations bill brought to the House floor in the 113th Congress, including any continuing appropriations bill."

Two bills that would defund ObamaCare had already been introduced on July 11. Senator Ted Cruz had introduced S. 1292, "a bill to prohibit the funding of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act." It now has 29 cosponsors. Rep. Tom Graves had introduced H.R. 2682, "Defund Obamacare Act of 2013." It now has 138 cosponsors. However, remember that just because one of your congressmen is listed as a cosponsor of one of these bills doesn't mean that he or she supports the "defunding ObamaCare with a continuing resolution" strategy.

The Republican naysayers regarding Lee’s proposal falsely characterize it as an attempt to force a government shutdown and maintain that this attempt would harm the Republicans’ chances of holding the House and gaining seats in the Senate in 2014. They also point out that there are not enough votes in the House and Senate to make this defunding strategy work anyway.

Lee and others acknowledge that as of now there are not enough votes to make their plan work, but that since ObamaCare is so unpopular and since it will be harder and harder to repeal it later, now is the time to take the defunding proposal to the American people. If a massive grassroots outpouring of support for defunding via a continuing resolution develops, then there just might be enough votes to get a continuing resolution that defunds ObamaCare passed in both House and Senate.

Whether or not this would actually lead to the defunding of ObamaCare, such a grassroots outpouring would prepare the way for a referendum on ObamaCare in the 2014 congressional elections.

Oh yes, President Obama would probably veto such a defunding bill; however, we could leave it to President Obama and Democrat leaders in Congress to calculate the political consequences of a veto at that point.

Please contact your representative and senators and urge them to support Senator Lee’s proposal to get a continuing resolution that defunds ObamaCare passed by both House and Senate. Contact them by early September because the vote will occur sometime in September.

Thanks.

Judge warns Obama on 'worthless' race complaints

     http://www.wnd.com/files/2012/02/ImpeachNow32.jpg

A federal judge has described Obama administration claims that corporations use background checks to target blacks “worthless,” describing the allegations from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as a “theory in search of facts” as he granted a motion for summary judgment, which is an immediate dismissal of the case.

“There are simply no facts here to support a theory of disparate impact resulting from any identified, specific practice of the defendant,” wrote Judge Roger W. Titus in the case brought by the Obama administration against Freeman Inc., a company that provides services for expositions, conventions, corporate events, meetings and programs.

Its revenues exceed $1.3 billion annually and it employs 3,500 fulltime workers and tens of thousands of part-time workers.

The EEOC alleged that the company, by checking the backgrounds of prospective employees, was illegally discriminating against blacks. But the Obama administration failed to provide any evidence of that, the judge ruled.

Don’t Ignore Race in Christopher Lane’s Murder: The association of young black men with violence doesn't come out of thin air

    EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY / HANDOUT
    Christopher Lane

Australian Christopher Lane was killed on Monday in Oklahoma by three teens, one of whom has said they were just “bored.” The right is complaining that the media is making nothing of the fact that two of the teens were black whereas Lane was white, as opposed to the massive alarm sounded in cases such as white (or white-ish) George Zimmerman killing black Trayvon Martin. And again the cry was heard that there is more “black-on-black” or “black-on-white” crime than “white-on-black,” and that young black men are in fact more of a problem than people like Zimmerman.

The numbers don’t lie: young black men do commit about 50% of the murders in the U.S. We don’t yet know whether the attack on Lane was racially motivated, nor can we know whether the three black boys who attacked a white boy on a Florida school bus recently would not have done the same to a black kid.

(Critics took Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to task for not condemning the violence.) But hardly uncommon are cases such as the two black guys who doused a white 13-year-old with gasoline and lit him on fire, saying “You get what you deserve, white boy” (Kansas City, Mo.) or 20 black kids who beat up white Matthew Owens on his porch “for Trayvon” (Mobile, Ala.).

Administrivia: I’ve posted dates for the next ICAC on the Training page.  We have a few seats left for those so inclined.

Poor Operations Security (OPSEC) leads to mission failure.  We cover OPSEC in pretty good detail in the ICAC, and this is a decent recap.  Because good OPSEC is going to be critical to any mission set or activities, I feel the need to cover it here.  Also, keep in mind that when I say “post-SHTF” I mean it in both the prepper and resistance sense.

    Compartmentalization.

Cleaning supplies go under the sink.  Canned goods go into the pantry.  Cups and dishes go into the cupboard.  All these items reside in the kitchen, but each type of product has its place.  Alternatively, we’ve all heard the idiom, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”  This is compartmentalization.

Similarly, if pieces of information are our kitchen products then we put them, too, in their proper places.  All the information resides within the ACE (or maybe within the members of the ACE team), but not every individual knows everything.  In the military and intelligence communities, it’s called “need to know.”  If you don’t ‘need to know’ then you don’t know (or shouldn’t know).

The average American household is earning less than when the Great Recession ended four years ago, according to a new report.

U.S. median household income, once adjusted for inflation, has fallen 4.4 percent in that time, according to the report from Sentier Research, an Annapolis data-analysis firm headed by two former Census Bureau officials.

The report is based on an analysis of Census Bureau data. Economists view median, or midpoint, income as a key marker for the well-being of the nation’s middle class.

Although U.S. average income has been recovering from its recent low point in August 2011, it remains 6.1 percent below where it stood when the country plunged into recession in December 2007, The Washington Post reported.

Meet Ayo Kimathi, a.k.a. “the Irritated Genie," who told his bosses at the DHS that his anti-white, anti-gay site, "War is on the Horizon," was just an entertainment site that sells concert and lecture videos.

You see, DHS employees, even those with office jobs like Kimathi's, have to get outside activities approved by their supervisors, according to the SPLC. Kimathi's former supervisor told the watchdog group, which tracks hate speech and groups in the U.S., that despite her former employee's banal description of his extracurricular activities, the actual content of the site left her "stunned." She continued: “To see the hate, to know that he is a federal employee, it bothered me." She added that had Kimathi's site been accurately described to the agency, there's no way the DHS would have signed off on it. Possibly to keep his bosses from looking up his work, Kimathi used only the site's acronym, WOH, in his permission request. In addition to his involvement in the purchase of ICE supplies, Kimathi also had a public profile for the agency, speaking at vendor events. As "Irritated Genie," Kimathi also has a public profile as a black supremacist advocate.
