New this year from
Century Arms is
the latest iterations of the C39, and its stamped receiver brother the
RAS 47. Yes this recipe has been attempted before, but not to such a
high standard. These look like they’ll be much more rugged, and still
affordable. That’s a strong selling point for an AK that’s made in the
United States.
The C39V2 is an AKM pattern rifle built exclusively from U.S. made
parts. It is built around a milled 4140 steel receiver and dressed with
premium wood furniture. The rifle isn’t just your standard AK. The
safety lever has a bolt hold open cut out that can hold the chamber
open. The trigger is now upgraded to the RAK-1 enhanced trigger system
which gives the user an unbelievably clean trigger pull. The magazine
release has been upgraded to an over-sized T-shaped lever which makes
reloads even easier. And lastly, the barrel is threaded and then paired
with a Century Arms muzzle break. The enhancements made to the rifle
make this gun a true bargain at its $740 price tag.
The RAS 47 is also 100% U.S. made but is instead built around a stamped
steel receiver. It is also upgraded with RAK-1 trigger system, the T
shaped magazine release, and threaded barrel but this time utilizing an
AK style slant break. What sets this rifle apart from the C39V2 is the
addition of a receiver mounted optics rail, the stamped receiver, and
less expensive wood. Coming in at $640, this rifle is truly a bargain.
