Coming hot on the heels of the renewed controversy over Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, this is more disturbing news that could fuel further concerns over the state of the U.S. military under Commander-in-Chief Barack Obama.
A soldier in the Army National Guard was arrested as he waited to board a flight from Chicago to Cairo with the alleged intent of taking up arms against his own countrymen and fighting alongside ISIS terrorists in Iraq and Syria.
According to the Chicago Sun Times, 22-year-old Hasan Edmonds has just been nabbed at Midway Airport following a lengthy FBI investigation in which an undercover operative met with the Guardsman and a cousin who was also arrested.
Jonas Edmonds, 29, was picked up by authorities at his home in Aurora, just outside of Chicago. The Sun Times reports:
