Praise the Lord for creating West Virginia even if it was a Yankee stronghold in the 19th century.

A bill introduced in the West Virginia House of Delegates this week would block unconstitutional foreign deployments of the state’s national guard troops, effectively restoring the Founders’ framework for state-federal balance on the Guard.

House Bill 2168 (HB2168), the Defend the Guard Act, was introduced by Del. Pat McGeehan (R-Hancock, 1), a former Air Force intelligence officer who did tours in Afghanistan and the Middle East, and cosponsored by ten other delegates. If passed, the bill would block the federal government from deploying West Virginia Guard troops overseas unless there is a declaration of war from Congress, as required by the Constitution.

“This bill essentially says, ‘If you don’t follow the highest law of the land, then we will withhold our Guard troops.’ The language and intent of the Constitution is so clear on this one issue,” McGeehan told the Wheeling News-Register.

The siege of Leyden

VERBATIM

A romantic depiction of the mayor of Leiden offering his arms as food to the starving inhabitants of Leiden during the siege by the Spanish in the Fall of 1574.

On 23 January 1579 the Union of Utrecht was signed, creating the Dutch Republic. They fought the Spanish 80 years (1568-1648) to make good their independence. What a people! Tiny country, mighty hearts. At the siege of Leyden (1573/4) one of the leaders addressed the starving people and said, "Starvation is preferable to dishonored death. . . my life is at your disposal; here is my sword, plunge it into my breast, & divide my flesh among you. Take my body to appease your hunger, but expect no surrender, so long as I remain alive."

Encouraged, the defenders returned to the walls & hurled renewed defiance at their enemies. "Ye call us rat- eaters and dog-eaters, and it it true. So long, then, as ye hear dog bark or cat mew within the walls, ye may know that the city holds out. And when all has perished save ourselves, be sure that we will each devour our left arms, retaining our right to defend our women, our liberty, and our religion against the foreign tryant. The siege of Leyden Giants say such things; giants do them.

Obama’s bloody Yemen disaster

When President Obama declares something a “success story,” you know it has “TOTAL FAILURE” embedded in its DNA.

Four months ago, America’s King Midas in Reverse crowed about the fruits of his triumphant foreign policy in jihad-infested Yemen. A “light footprint” approach to counterterrorism operations, he claimed, was the most effective path to stability. In addition, Obama has shoveled nearly $1 billion in American tax-subsidized foreign aid to Yemen.
Four months later, Iran-backed Shia rebels seized a Yemeni presidential palace. The president and his entire cabinet tendered their resignations on Thursday, creating a vacuum that al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula is ready and eager to fill. ISIS is gaining its own Sunni foothold in the Muslim terror-breeding ground. And while the JV team at the State Department dithers with hashtag games and selfies, adults at the Pentagon want to evacuate U.S. embassy personnel and other Americans before it’s too late.

White professor teaches 'problem of whiteness' course at Arizona State

 Dorkhead.

At Arizona State University (ASU), students can now learn about the “problem of whiteness” in America.

The public university is offering an English class to its students this semester called “Studies in American Literature/Culture: U.S. Race Theory & the Problem of Whiteness.”

According to the class description on ASU’s website, students will be reading The Possessive Investment in Whiteness, Critical Race Theory, Everyday Language of White Racism, Playing in the Dark, and The Alchemy of Race and Rights.

At time of publication, 18 students were enrolled in the course offered at ASU’s Tempe campus. Students can receive three credits for successfully completing the course.

The class syllabus is not available online.

"I think it shows the significant double standard of higher education institutions," James Malone, a junior economics major, told Campus Reform. "They would never allow a class talking about the problem of 'blackness.' And if they did, there would be an uproar about it. But you can certainly harass people for their apparent whiteness."

Federal judge strikes down Alabama’s gay marriage ban

Gay-Marriage

A federal judge on Friday evening issued a ruling striking down Alabama’s constitutional ban on gay marriage on the grounds that it violates the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment.

The plaintiffs in the case, Cari Searcy and Kimberly McKeand, have been a same-sex couple since 2000. They’ve lived in Mobile, Ala., since 2001, but traveled to California in 2008 to get legally married after winning a San Diego Convention Bureau contest, according to the Associated Press.

A central issue in the case was McKeand’s 8-year-old child.

Mississippi’s Chris McDaniel Launches New PAC Designed To Crack GOP Establishment

Via comment by Sioux on Sarah Palin on New GOP Majority: ‘It’s Not Just th...

Chris McDaniel promises a victory against Sen. Thad Cochran to a late night audience Tuesday at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg, Miss.

If they can't be cracked, then form another party.

The GOP establishment can’t make Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel go away.

On Friday, McDaniel will be announcing—he told Breitbart News exclusively—a new Political Action Committee (PAC) designed to help conservatives across Mississippi, and the nation, get elected to political office, replacing GOP establishment politicians.

The PAC, titled the United Conservatives Fund will focus on “electing conservatives and holding Republicans accountable while messaging conservatism in a way that secures conservatives get a chance to be elected even over some of those in the establishment,” McDaniel  tells Breitbart.
What we’re focused on here is a couple of things: The first is we’re creating an organization that speaks directly to conservatism, not to party. Second, we want an organization that will focus on outreach. We do outreach based on logical and intricate messaging. And lastly, we’ve got to be able to hold our officials accountable because despite the grassroots complaining and despite our wishes, so far the Republican leadership in the establishment has ignored us. This fund will be used to make them listen to us once and for all.
McDaniel is the man for the job.

NC: Is Renee Ellmers Worthy Of Life?

Is Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC), Heritage Action Score card 51%, House Republican Average 61%, worthy of life?

No, really, I see no reason why I shouldn’t expect an answer. Ellmers, and the others who conspired against a bill to restrict abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy that had 60% public support, should come out and justify her existence. Tell me why you are worthy of this life you have been given, Representative.

Sarah Palin on New GOP Majority: ‘It’s Not Just the New England Patriots Who Are Dealing with Deflated Balls’

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (Credit: TheBlaze/Mike Opelka)

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin declined to speculate on a potential 2016 run Thursday at the 2015 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, but she did offer the GOP some free political advice. We caught up with Palin as she was promoting the second season of her show, “Amazing America,” which airs on the Sportsman Channel Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.

“I’m not going to talk politics except to say the GOP had better go on offense. Man, they are not going to win any game on defense,” she told TheBlaze. “Being in the majority there in D.C. — we’re blowing it if we just bend our back.”

She added, “That GOP leadership, that establishment, they’ve got to get their stuff together. I love what they believe in, I believe in it too. But they’ve got to get tough, man. You know what? It’s not just the New England Patriots who are dealing with deflated balls right now.”

Immigration agents rip GOP border bill

 http://media.washtimes.com/media/image/2014/06/23/immigration-overload-numbers-gamesjpeg-04801.jpg

The National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council, a group representing 12,000 immigration agents, is criticizing a new House GOP border security bill that it says does not do enough to combat illegal border crossings.

The group released a statement Thursday raising concerns about legislation drafted by Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) that is due on the House floor next week.
Kenneth Palinkas, the council’s president, said the 72-page bill does nothing to stop illegal border crossers from turning themselves into the authorities and gaining asylum.

“Almost anyone at all can call themselves an asylum-seeker and get in; it’s a global joke. It’s not border security if anyone can recite the magic words and get waved right on in,” Palinkas said in a statement.

American Made AKs from Century–SHOT Show 2015

New this year from Century Arms is the latest iterations of the C39, and its stamped receiver brother the RAS 47. Yes this recipe has been attempted before, but not to such a high standard. These look like they’ll be much more rugged, and still affordable. That’s a strong selling point for an AK that’s made in the United States.

The C39V2 is an AKM pattern rifle built exclusively from U.S. made parts. It is built around a milled 4140 steel receiver and dressed with premium wood furniture. The rifle isn’t just your standard AK. The safety lever has a bolt hold open cut out that can hold the chamber open. The trigger is now upgraded to the RAK-1 enhanced trigger system which gives the user an unbelievably clean trigger pull. The magazine release has been upgraded to an over-sized T-shaped lever which makes reloads even easier. And lastly, the barrel is threaded and then paired with a Century Arms muzzle break. The enhancements made to the rifle make this gun a true bargain at its $740 price tag.

The RAS 47 is also 100% U.S. made but is instead built around a stamped steel receiver. It is also upgraded with RAK-1 trigger system, the T shaped magazine release, and threaded barrel but this time utilizing an AK style slant break. What sets this rifle apart from the C39V2 is the addition of a receiver mounted optics rail, the stamped receiver, and less expensive wood. Coming in at $640, this rifle is truly a bargain.

NC: Not even babies’ screams stop politicians from allowing late pregnancy abortions

They ought to rename the Republican Party that gained majority control of both the House and Senate in November’s midterm elections only to turn around and renege on campaign promises immediately after being sworn in, the Pontius Pilate Party, PPP for short.

No other name better suits a party that staged an 11th-hour revolt against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the 20-week abortion ban that had already got a green light in the last Congress with overwhelming GOP support.

Strikingly shameful,  it was mostly women Repubs who ended forcing the cancellation of a vote scheduled to coincide with yesterday’s March for Life and the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision.  Namely, Representative Marsha, Blackburn (R., Tenn.), Rep. Renee Ellmers of North Carolina and Rep. Jackie Walorski of Indiana.

In some circles, Blackburn, Ellmers and Walorski,  quaking in fear of Dem attack ads, coveting womens’ votes for GOP and wanting the approval of millennials, the same ones looting and torching in Ferguson, MO,  could be called ‘Agents of Death’.

Army Lieutenant Clint Lorance Gets 19 Years at Ft. Leavenworth because He defended his Troops against Islamic Jihadists

Via Iver

First Lieutenant Clint Lorance never imagined that following the rule of engagement to save not only his life, but the lives of his fellow soldiers against Islamic enemies would result in him spending nearly two decades in prison. But it did.

Lorance, 30, had been trained to make split-second decisions and his training culminated in a real-life scenario in July 2012 when he and his squad were on a foot patrol in southern Afghanistan. He had just been made Platoon Leader after his predecessor had been severely wounded.

At that time, Lorance led his troops into a Taliban-infested territory, where their air support had indicated that there were enemy personnel in the vicinity.

NC: Help Save the Name of Governor Charles B Aycock

Via Cousin John

http://ncpedia.org/sites/default/files//images_bio/Aycock_Charles_Brantley_statue_Flickr_6001022627_8a35472b7c_o.jpg

Chancellor Ballard,

I am writing this in defense of Govonor Charles B Aycock, a great Statesman and a champion for Blacks in the State of NC. There are misguided people in NC wrapped with hate that would like to destroy all Southern History and are going to do so unless you and I stand up to them. I understand the University may drop the name of Aycock from your campus. I am writing this statement in defense of Gov. Aycock and wish you to consider the History behind it. I also understand that you and the Trustees are to take up the matter this coming week.

The defense for Gov. Aycock is the context of his times and how he stood up for blacks against universal popular opinion in North Carolina and the whole country to keep them down.

In 1900, white supremacy was the reigning ideology in all of America. This was especially so in the North and Midwest. The intellectual bastion of white supremacy was Harvard, with its School of Scientific Racism. The U.S. Supreme Court had rendered in 1892 its decision in Plessy v. Ferguson allowing racial segregation in the public realm. All the states then started implementing racial segregation. This was the key issue for Progressives to support.

Both the Democratic and Republican parties in every state and at the national level were expelling blacks from public office and from any influence. With much pride and acclaim, the Democrats called it "Jim Crow" and the Republicans called it being "Lily White."

Josephus Daniels as Editor of the Raleigh News & Observer was the most vocal and the leading proponent fin N.C. for white supremacy and attempted to use Aycock as his tool.

In this context, Gov. Aycock defied Daniels and asked the state legislature for equal funding for black schools. It refused and wanted no funding for black schools. Gov. Aycock then threatened to resign from office unless there was equal funding. The state legislature then caved to Gov. Aycock and voted close to equal funding. Daniels turned against Gov. Aycock (although they were childhood friends).

The most notable quote from Gov. Aycock is the "equal right of every person for the opportunity to burgeon out all that is within him." He further said before he died that "equality" is what he wants to be known for.

This is the sentiment of a true egalitarian, and not that of a white supremacist.

Gov. Aycock was an egalitarian during the heyday of racial inequality.

I urge you and your colleagues to reconsider the thought that Aycock was racist and consider the facts of a man that cared for all and allow the memory of Aycock to stand on your campus.

Yours truly,

John L Pippin, Jr.
President of the Fremont Historical Museum and Preservation Society

Abdullah is Dead. ISIS has an opportunity to flip the Kingdom. Here's how.

Last week I wrote that ISIS would attack Saudi Arabia this spring.  This week the opportunity to attack with a high likelihood of success arrived: The King of Saudi Arabia died today.  Unfortunately for the Saudi's, King Abdulla died before his Kingdom's gambit to gain control of ISIS paid off.

The rapid trauma assessment – part I

hurricane-katrina

The hurricane came in off the Atlantic and slammed into the Carolina coasts at 2am on Thursday. For once, the weather forecasters were right, and it did not weaken to a Category 4 from a Category 5 as it got closer to shore. In the inky blackness of night, the hellstorm tore its way inland from Myrtle Beach and carved a path of total destruction as it howled all the way up to Asheville before it transmogrified into a tropical storm that flooded 18 inches of rain on the wreckage it sowed.

Regardless of the preparation taken by the local, state, and federal emergency management agencies, millions were now without shelter, water, electricity, or help. The country had not seen anything like this, ever. It was the Galveston Hurricane of 1900, the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, and Hurricane Katrina combined into one. Whole towns – gone. Contact with the coasts – lost. Staged preparations – missing. As the sun rose from the east, the horrors of what nature had wrought would make the most hardened man tremble.
