Mitch McConnell is Steve Bannon's top priority: 'I'm going to light him up'

You're a good man, Charlie Brown.

President Trump's recently removed chief strategist Steve Bannon has vowed to paint a target on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, according to a report Friday evening.

"Mitch McConnell, I'm going to light him up," Bannon told the Economist.

While Trump has been unsuccessfully trying to motivate the senator from Kentucky to take action on his policy agenda, the chairman of Breitbart News is taking a different approach to getting McConnell to cooperate with the White House.

"In the White House I had influence ... At Breitbart, I had power," Bannon repeatedly told the Economist reporter.

Bannon left his West Wing job earlier this month and promised he would fight for his former boss.
"We will never turn on him. But we are never going to let him take a decision that hurts him," Bannon said.

Virginia Flaggers Respond to AG Mark Herring's Opinion on Monuments Law

Via Susan

The Virginia Flaggers were saddened, but not surprised to learn of Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring's "hail Mary" announcement that he thinks Virginia's monuments and memorials protection law does not, in fact, protect all Confederate monuments and memorials from removal.

http://www.nbc12.com/story/36219499/ag-herring-issues-opinion-saying-localities-can-remove-relocate-war-statues

The timing of his announcement is not coincidental.  Since Governor McAuliffe did an about face on his previous and numerous promises to protect all war memorials, chose to exploit the tragedy in Charlottesville for political gain, and  called for their removal across the Commonwealth, the political backlash has been swift and severe.  In poll after poll, conducted after the rioting in Charlottesville earlier this month, citizens overwhelmingly voiced their beliefs that monuments should remain and not be removed or destroyed.  The outrage in watching memorial stones dragged out of cemeteries and off of pedestals at county courthouses, all in the name of political correctness and to appease howling and violent mobs, has led to a massive backlash as angry citizens call for swift action to prevent the destruction of America's history and heritage.

Republican Gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie finally found an issue to excite his base.  His announcement that he would protect our monuments has boosted his support and his numbers in the polls as undecided voters get behind him to save our monuments.  The Republican controlled General Assembly is not likely to do anything to change the existing law, something that has McAuliffe and other Democrats grasping at straws to find a way to implement their monument destruction plans.

We are confident that the citizens of Virginia will see this announcement for exactly what it is:  Political Grandstanding at its worst.  His opinion, which is all this is,  mirrors that of his political party and is not grounded in law nor binding in any court of law.  The law is clear and needs no partisan interpretation.  We are confident that we will have victory in court next week in regards to the Charlottesville LEE Monument, and that the issue of monument protection in Virginia will be settled and put to rest once and for all.

We are prepared to fight for each and every monument and memorial, and the memory and honor of every soldier they represent.

Earlier this week, Charlottesville City Council carried out their plans to cover the Lee and Jackson monuments in black tarp, claiming they were shrouding the monuments as a symbol of mourning. The citizens aren't buying it. No one mourns their dead by covering monuments with a tarp.   City Council seems bound and determined to continue to divide and inflame tensions in  the community.

This was done in direct violation of state law and against the will of the overwhelming majority of citizens

Haphazardly secured, it looks like it would not take much wind to unveil them, and we understand folks are lining up to volunteer to help facilitate Mother Nature.

Defacing a monument in Virginia is a misdemeanor offense.  We feel certain City Council failed to mention that to the men who did their dirty work.

In the meantime, the monuments are actually protected from vandals and we can look forward to the grand re-unveiling soon.

#KeepTheStatues #RemoveCityCouncil

This made our day!  Overnight Thursday, someone cut down part of the tarp placed over the Lee Monument in Lee Park. This was the second attempt by patriots to remove the tarps, which were placed in violation of Virginia state law.  We doubt it will be the last...

VA RESIDENTS!  URGENT CALL TO ACTION

Governor McAuliffe has threatened to call a special session of the General Assembly for the purpose of getting legislative permission to remove the magnificent Robert E Lee monument on Richmond's Monument Avenue.  Democratic legislators  have promised to introduce legislation to repeal our monument protection law, and several localities have expressed the intention to ask for special permission to move or remove their monuments. Regardless of the decision in Charlottesville next week, our real fight will be in the legislature, and it's one we can win. ACT NOW. Call and email your delegate and state senator. Tell them you want them to vote no on any blill that would allow for monument removal, and to help sponsor and suppport any legislation that strengthens existing laws. Tell them that monument protection is a top priority in the coming election. Phone calls are most effective. Call often and let your voice be heard. Use this tool to find your legislator:

Please act now and call early and often, right up to Election Day this fall, and share this information far and wide.

Charlottesville Was a Massive 4GW Failure

Via Tom

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51V9fZCMeZL._SY346_.jpg

I’m sure that a lot of folks in the alt-Right, of whatever stripe, are feeling pretty black-pilled right at this moment. As well they should, because the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville was a disaster.

There’s no way to get around that. Don’t take what I’m about to say in the post below as “punching right”. Rather, understand it as me giving some well-meaning, and I believe much needed, counsel.

What everyone who is interested in this needs to understand is that the reason the Unite the Right (UTR) rally was a failure was because it completely neglected to take into account 4GW (Fourth-Generation Warfare) principles which can very easily be applied to civilian situations remaining at conflict levels below outright armed conflict.  In fact the leadership at UTR and during the subsequent chain of events once the rally got started broke just about every rule of 4GW that could have been broken.

My advice for any serious alt-Righter of any stripe who wishes to avoid future debacles like UTR would be to first, firstFIRST read Victoria by William Lind, and then familiarize yourself with Lind’s other materials on this subject.  If you haven’t done this yet, then stop what you’re doing, alt-Right involvement-wise.  You’re only going to hurt, not help your cause.

.........they don't want to be reminded of their years of slavery............:)

......Then they need to be reminded that if they are living on welfare/EBT/or other government social services for their survival. If they have generations of children who have known only that. If they vote without question for the politician with the big letter D after the name; They are still living in a soft form of slavery (without the chains and "masta" whipping them). They also need to be reminded, there are many who need to keep the old wounds of the past, still fresh as if happened recently, lest the professional grievance pushers lose the job, money and status. What would the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, et. al. do, if they had to hold an honest job for a living? The Party of Evil (aka Democrats) do not like racial harmony, since if there was they would be out of a job. They need an ongoing racial tense, for the votes to keep them in office. I would also like to remind them, you can not move forward if you continue to look into the rearview mirror. Being offended or what ever is a choice. They also need to keep in mind that every single one of theirs, the other guys and my ancestors are all, without exception equally dead. They being dead are in no position to appreciate any thing one does on their behalf. My contribution for a more civil society is to use the address of sir or ma'am said a respectful tone of voice to my fellow American who just happens to be black (or any thing else for that matter). I would also like to point out that the social problems that plague blacks in America, especially those in living major inner cities, are a direct result of the government programs, that destroyed the two parent black family, encouraged out of wedlock birth rates, drug and alcohol abuse, high abortion rates. As I see it, it is children growing up without the benefit of a real involved father (and not a "baby daddy") that is at the core of the problem. It is impossible to have a stable society where young males do not know how to act like a man and young females do not know how that same young male should treat them.

Of all the black Americans alive today not a single one of the was a cotton picking slave. Zero. Neither I, parents or any of my ancestors starting with the very first one, who stepped off THE Mayflower as an indentured servant owned slaves. So those with the chip on their shoulders ought to get over themselves. Their ancestors were slaves, but they are not. Reality check here, black Americans still enjoy a standard of living that the majority of blacks living in Africa will NEVER have. Never. Blacks were not the only ones who got the shaft. There was a time when it was common to see this sign: Help wanted. Irish need not apply. Are there whites who are racist against blacks? Absolutely. However they are a very small minority of population and in the case of the skin heads, neo(wannabe)Nazis and the ever unpopular KKK are view as being the idiots, low class losers and thugs that they are. The rest of the white population does not have the time or the energy to be racist as we are too busy working, and minding our own business for such nonsense.

Defending the Confederacy

The South has always had to defend itself, first in the halls of Congress, then militarily on the battlefield, but since 1865 in the annals of history. For surely today we are seen as the most defensive region in the country but that’s because we are the most attacked and maligned region in the country. The smears and denigrations have greatly increased in recent months with the latest campaign to erase our past with the destruction of Confederate monuments and memorials.

It’s unfortunate that we’ve been forced to defend ourselves, our region, our history, and most particularly the “Lost Cause” against attacks from without but, sadly, also from assaults by those who might be in sympathy with us. Clearly I’m talking about conservatives and right-leaning Republicans but now that emotions have been greatly ratcheted up with the Charlottesville rally and its aftermath, almost no one will defend the South and the cause of the Confederacy. These days they are running from it like the plague.

Last week on “Hannity,” Newt Gingrich, who holds a Ph.D. in history and who might be seen as one who understands the true history of the South, said that the Confederate flag represented those who “defended slavery and slave trading.” I was stunned, to say the least. Obviously one could make a halfway acceptable argument on the slavery issue, but slave trading?

Imagining a Lost Cause

http://www.carolana.com/NC/Revolution/Images/NC_Revolution_Battles_Skirmishes_1781_2.jpg

Let us imagine for a moment that the French army and fleet were not present at Yorktown to augment Washington’s army, and that the British prevailed in their war to suppress the rebellion of their subjects populating the American colonies below Canada. As the victorious redcoats swarmed through those colonies they arrested and imprisoned rebel leadership including Jefferson, Washington, Franklin, Hamilton, Madison, et al. All were sure they would swing from sturdy tree limbs for their part in a Lost Cause.

Though the outcry from American Loyalists demanded the execution of rebel leaders, the King decided to not create martyrs and mercifully allowed them to lead peaceful lives after taking a new oath of fealty to the Crown. They would be treated as second-class subjects and forever viewed with suspicion as former rebels.

The official history of that civil war was then written which proclaimed that the rebels fought in defense of African slavery — in short, that the American Revolution was fought to perpetuate slavery and the King fought for the freedom of the black race. Willing court historians suppressed Britain’s deep involvement in the slave trade, and later gate keepers of orthodoxy maintained the fiction to avoid official censure and loss of position.

It is remembered that on November 7, 1775, Royal Governor of Virginia, Lord Dunmore (John Murray), issued his emancipation proclamation in Norfolk announcing that all able-bodied, male slaves in Virginia who abandoned their masters and took up arms for the King would be free . . . “Negroes and others (appertaining to Rebels) free, that are able to bear arms, they joining his Majesty’s Troops as soon as may be, for the more speedily reducing this Colony to a proper sense of duty to His Majesty’s crown and dignity . . .”

A rebel newspaper correspondent wrote: “Hell itself could not have vomited anything more black than this design of emancipating our slaves.” The proclamation deemed anyone opposing the proclamation as “defending slavery.”

Lord Dunmore afterward was hailed throughout the world as the Great Emancipator and savior of the black race, and that had he not freed the bondsmen from the slave holding colonies from Massachusetts to Georgia, chattel slavery would have continued forever.

The irony of this official history was not lost on those who had witnessed the populating of the American colonies and how the official Royal African Company (RAC) brought slave ship after slave ship to work the plantations that enriched the British Empire. The RAC was established in 1660 by the Stuart family and London merchants, for the purpose of trading along the west coast of Africa – especially for slaves. It was led by the Duke of York (for whom New York City is named), the brother of Charles II.

Additionally, the maritime colonies of Rhode Island and Massachusetts surreptitiously engaged in slaving, with the former colony surpassing Liverpool in 1750 as the center of the lucrative transatlantic slave trade. Thus New England’s maritime ventures and its competition with England was greatly to blame for sparking the rebellion.

Although the British were certainly responsible (along with the Portuguese, French and Spanish) for the presence of African slaves in North America, they were victorious in that civil war and wrote the official histories of the rebellion. Subsequently, all British universities, newspapers and books were in unison denouncing the American rebels as racist white supremacists who refused the black man equality, and any monuments to their dead were simply evidence of glorifying and romanticizing a Lost Cause. Imagine.

Did a wealthy GOP donor start the infamous Trump dossier?

Via Billy

http://canadafreepress.com/images/uploads/cover030717l.jpg

On Wednesday, not long after I posted the story, "Republicans skeptical about origin of Trump dossier," I got a note from a friend who had been thinking about the claim that a wealthy GOP donor started the infamous Trump dossier.

I had reported that the Republican operatives who ran against Donald Trump — the managers of the Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, and John Kasich campaigns — had not only not heard of any GOP-funded oppo project but did not believe one existed. Neither did some of the NeverTrump activists working outside the campaigns to try to stop the GOP front-runner.

"The reason it is not at all believable that a Republican was behind it is, nobody used [any information] from it," Rubio campaign manager Terry Sullivan told me. "Everybody was pretty damn desperate at the end. If someone had a kitchen sink, they would have thrown it."

My friend thought there might be some semantics involved. "The phrase 'wealthy Republican donor' doesn't necessarily have to denote a Republican," he wrote in an email exchange. "It could refer to a Democrat who has also made occasional donations to Republicans, especially if the source of the info is trying to mislead without technically lying."

Sebastian Gorka Quits White House, Is Furious About Afghanistan

Friday night has been a busy news night in the Trump White House. First, it was the pardon of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Now, President Trump’s deputy assistant, Sebastian Gorka, who has largely shaped Trump’s foreign policy agenda until now, has resigned.

Stunningly, his resignation letter is anything but polite. In fact, the conservative Gorka is not happy with the recent announcement about Afgahanistan, and he’s taking a stand:
In a blunt resignation letter, the national security and counterterrorism expert expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the Trump administration. “[G]iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are – for now – ascendant within the White House,” Gorka wrote. “As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the People’s House.”
Gorka’s letter expressed unhappiness with the direction the Trump administration’s foreign policy has taken, as signaled by the president’s recent speech on Afghanistan:
“Regrettably, outside of yourself, the individuals who most embodied and represented the policies that will ‘Make America Great Again,’ have been internally countered, systematically removed, or undermined in recent months. This was made patently obvious as I read the text of your speech on Afghanistan this week…
“The fact that those who drafted and approved the speech removed any mention of Radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism proves that a crucial element of your presidential campaign has been lost…
“Just as worrying, when discussing our future actions in the region, the speech listed operational objectives without ever defining the strategic victory conditions we are fighting for. This omission should seriously disturb any national security professional, and any American who is unsatisfied with the last 16 years of disastrous policy decisions which have led to thousands of Americans killed and trillions of taxpayer dollars spent in ways that have not brought security or victory.”

Donald Trump Pardons Sheriff Joe Arpaio

When President Donald Trump makes a promise, he keeps it.

Now, we know why Trump said at his Arizona rally that Sheriff Joe Arpaio, after his conviction would be OK. He has officially pardoned Arpaio!

After years of harassment from the Obama administration, this is incredible:

167 Year Old California Catholic School Removes Statues of Mary and Jesus to be More Inclusive

Via Carl

Removal of a number of statues and other smaller Catholic icons from the campus of San Domenico School in San Anselmo has raised concerns among some parents.

In an email to the school’s board of directors, Dominican Sisters of San Rafael and the head of school, Shannon Fitzpatrick objected to the removal of the statues and other steps the school has taken in an effort to make the school more inclusive.

“Articulating an inclusive foundation appears to mean letting go of San Domenico’s 167-year tradition as a Dominican Catholic school and being both afraid and ashamed to celebrate one’s heritage and beliefs,” wrote Fitzpatrick, whose 8-year-old son attends the school.

Lindsey Graham says Trump's fights with Congress are a 'thought-out strategy' and 'there's nothing crazy about it'

Via Billy

Graham said of Trump's wild campaign rally Tuesday night that 'he won giving these kinds of speeches' and its was a chance for Trump 'to go back to his base and fire them up and put pressure on the Senate and the House to do things he wants'

Sen. Lindsey Graham suggested Thursday that Donald Trump's bare-knuckle feuding with Republicans in Congress is a conscious 'political strategy,' and 'there's nothing crazy about it.'

Institutional Washington has watched with a mixture of shock and horror as the president picks fights with leaders of his own party, but Graham – who has been on the receiving end of many Trump barbs – told radio host Hugh Hewitt that there's a method to the apparent madness of cannibalizing fellow Republicans in public.

The South Carolina GOP senator pointed to his own conference's failure to muster enough votes to fund the border wall that won Trump a groundswell of support from Republican voters last year.

South Carolina's Republican Gov. Henry McMaster on Friday cut off all state and local funding to the state's three abortion clinics, according to a report.

McMaster not only cut off all funding but also called for the state's Medicaid agency to ask the federal government to exclude abortion clinics from its Medicaid provider network, according to the Post and Courier. It was not immediately clear how much money that involved.

ACLU Will No Longer Defend Armed ‘Hate Groups’

The American Civil Liberties Union is putting its foot down when it comes to providing legal representation for those who would seek to exercise their First and Second Amendment rights simultaneously. It will no longer defend armed demonstrators!

The ACLU is qualifying this policy change by saying it doesn’t want to defend armed “hate groups,” but one wonders if this is a slippery slope for an organization that has worked to protect and preserve the Constitutional rights of individuals for the past 100 years.

For example, some on the Left would argue that the NRA is a hate group. Of course, it’s not. But you can see how this opens up a can of worms in that it leaves it open to interpretation. Then, there’s the other side of the coin: armed hate groups on the Left. Would the ACLU also decline to defend the new Black Panther party just as it now won’t defend the KKK?

Cinna, the poet: I am not Cinna the conspirator.
Fourth Citizen: It is no matter, his name's Cinna; pluck but his name out of his heart, and turn him going.
From William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.

As I noted recently, President Trump was correct to warn that the anti-statue brigade would soon turn their sights on Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. At the time, most derided Trump's words as that of an idiot.

Well, now he's being proved right. Salon editor and Baltimore professor, D. Watkins claims statues of Washington and Jefferson "actually" make his "skin crawl." At CNN, Angela Rye is angry that purging the two presidents isn't universally accepted. A BBC commentator says the presidential downfall is "exactly what is needed." NBC News describes the issue as "complicated."

This mob stupidity, because that's what it is, reminded me of Cinna the poet, as rendered in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Awaiting Caesar's funeral, a crowd of his supporters confuses Cinna the poet for another Cinna they hold responsible for the dictator's killing. Cinna convinces the crowd that he is not the conspirator, but they murder him regardless. Shakespeare's point: individual rationality is quite easily subsumed by the self-replicating irrationality of the mob.

League of the South statement on Charlottesville

It soon became clear to us that everything had been a set up. The local and State authorities had obviously ordered law enforcement to “stand down,” thus allowing the violent protestors to start a riot and shut us down before the actual rally ever got underway. By doing so, they created an extremely dangerous situation for people who had come to attend a legal gathering in a public venue.
The League of the South went to Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday, 12 August 2017, for two main reasons: to spread our nearly quarter-century old message of Southern nationalism and independence and to stand with our allies on the right in defense of the memory of one of our heroes: General Robert E. Lee. It was to Lee Park (renamed Emancipation Park by the city’s leftist government) we went to protest the removal of Lee’s statue.

I received an invitation to speak at this event and for The League to be one of the participating organizations from the man who organized what was called the Unite the Right! rally, Jason Kessler of Charlottesville. Kessler, as organizer, had secured a permit from the city to have the event at Lee Park.

ANTIFA confront White Nationalists in Charlottesville

“Let’s put the RED back in redneck,” is the slogan of Redneck Revolt, a rapidly expanding nationwide network of gun-toting leftists who confront White Nationalists at public demonstrations.
“The Left is getting armed again and I am honored to be a part of that,” said Mitchell Lewis of the Silver Valley chapter of Redneck Revolt in Davidson County, North Carolina who was in Charlottesville, Virginia carrying an AR-15 rifle against White Nationalist protestors.

At least five chapters of Redneck Revolt, heavily armed with AR-15 semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and other weapons, were at the “Unite the Right” demonstration last weekend in Charlottesville.

Hard Truths and The Biggest Duty You Have

Via Don

In 1978, Sir John Glubb wrote a paper entitled The Fate of Empires and Search for Survival. While many in the so-called ‘patriot movement’ have read it, far more have not — and that’s a shame, because reading it will show you something that will affect your entire mindset. Well, if you’re open to things like truth, it will.  And it’s freely available, so you don’t really have an excuse.

Fate of Empires shows a very disturbing truth about what happens to the great empires (or superpowers, if the term ’empire’ somehow offends you if applied to the US).  While I know some of you have read it, I’m going to assume that some of you haven’t, so I’ll recap.  From the introduction:

Salt's mostly gone from The CSS Stono's 20 Enfield rifles, but intensive conservation awaits

Dated

Twenty Enfield rifles recovered from Charleston (S.C.) Harbor and on display in a freshwater tank at a Georgia state park remain in a “holding situation” until funding is procured for complete conservation.

“At this point, the crate of rifles is pretty well desalinated,” said Josh Headlee, curator with the Historic Preservation Division. “The conservation is a process that will take a good while to complete and the cost could be considerable. Furthermore, once that process is started, it can’t be stopped without irreversible damage to the rifles.”

The British-made weapons, which have been on display for three years at Sweetwater State Park west of Atlanta, were intended for the hands of Confederate soldiers.

The Washington National Cathedral is debating whether to remove two stained glass windows that depict Confederate generals amid debate around the country about the removal of Confederate monuments.

NBC 4 reported that the cathedral is considering removing the pair of 8-by-4-foot stained glass windows, which were installed in the 1950s to memorialize Confederate Gens. Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.

The pieces were sponsored by the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the church previously planned to decide on them next summer, but will reportedly make an announcement soon.
