A couple of years ago, Prof. Michael Vlahos, who teaches strategy and war at Johns Hopkins, published an essay here in TAC talking about how America has often been a place of cold civil war, despite the official story of national unity (minus the Late Unpleasantness of 1861-65). He wrote in the piece that we were headed for a new civil war, and explained his thinking. In talking about the stages of a country headed to civil war, he mentioned this:

Othering. Here, the barren and inhospitable new civic space is dominated along looming, fortified lines. Warring identities have concluded that the only solution is the complete submission of the enemy party, and both sides are beginning to prepare for an ultimate showdown. Othering is a transforming process, through which former kin are reimagined as evil, an American inner-enemy, who once defeated must be punished. The most familiar metaphor of American othering was the 1770s practice of tarring and feathering. This less-than-lethal mob punishment corresponds—in shaming power and severity—to mob vengeance pervasive today on social media outlets such as Twitter.

THEODORE O’HARA (1820-1867) of Kentucky. “The Bivouac of the Dead” is often thought of as related to The War of 1861-1865. Like the “Star-Spangled Banner” it was confiscated for the North.

Theodore O’Hara was a Confederate officer. (He was with Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston when he was fatally wounded.) He wrote the poem about 1850 in commemoration of his comrades, the Kentucky volunteers who had lost their lives in the war with Mexico.

Aberdeen, SD. Making a bit of news in June was the small town of Moundsville, West Virginia, population roughly 9,000. The news was the receipt by the Moundsville police of a surplus U.S. Army vehicle known as a “mine resistance ambush protection vehicle,” or MRAP. Why would a small town such as Moundsville need a military style armored vehicle? The police chief vaguely stated it could be used for “lots of things.” No doubt. I imagine there might be some tough characters in rural West Virginia, but it’s hard to imagine they are laying landmines. This is precisely the kind of militarization of the American police that has long worried observers of law enforcement. In 1960s Mayberry Barney Fife was trusted with only one bullet. Now he’d have an assault rifle and an armored attack vehicle. In urban settings the stereotype of the neighborhood flatfoot charming the local urchins armed with his billy club and revolver has been replaced with scenes of police more suited for an assault on Fallujah than the streets of the Bronx.

 Model suggests NC will need to reapply coronavirus restrictions in October 

Yeah, modeling reminiscent of the criminal Global Warming BS, and way too many are swallowing it whole. Fauci said 2 million would die if we didn't self-quarantine. So far, about 150,000 have died, but amazingly other major causes of death have been "miraculously declining."

We won't know until until next year whether these deaths were truly from a new cause, or premature deaths through medical culling.

Having lived through the Swine Flu scamdemic, I have been researching this situation since it began. We were told here in Michigan 100,000 people would die from Covid19 - so far it's around 5,000 using the highly liberal CDC guidelines. Here's what I found out:

1) Absolutely Zero Proof of a New Virus, killer or otherwise, isolated under an electron microscope in controlled studies and photographed -- just scary Cootie cgi photos created on the computer (computer graphic image). Same symptoms as SARS from early 2000s with severe shortness of breath and low blood oxygen and people were put on ventilators and most of them died then and now.

2) There is No Diagnostic Test for Covid19 (see #1 above) - just the old PCR test for the 'presence' of coronavirus (common cold) - the PCR inventor has stated this test was never intended to diagnose anything. These so-called anti-body tests mean Zilch. So just what are these test swabs showing with their extremely high false-positive results?

3) Paw paw fruit, your pet dog, are testing covid19 positive - unused swabs that were sent right back to the lab with a fake patient name are coming back positive as revealed by some whistleblower nurses. What's on these swabs? Maybe you are getting infected with something you didn't have before you were swabbed. PLease stop getting swabbed if you are healthy and have a choice. You are just adding to the bogus "case" count and the continued lockdown.

4) CDC's Dr. Birx stated that there would never be a reliable test or a vaccine because Covid19 is "multi-strained, rapidly mutating with varied levels of lethality" --yet Fauci, Gates, Rockefeller Foundation are all telling us that this worldwide spread is from a human eating a bat shishkabob. These guys stand to make billions from convincing you they are telling the truth...for the first time ever?!
Meanwhile the Hysteria Mongers on TV tell us "We are all in this together!" Stay Scared until your Jab is Ready (even though there is a cheap effective cure that is banned in many states)! ONce I could see where this was going in an Epic Psyop, we stopped watching tv news. Sorry to say Trump is right there with FAuci and Birx with EO Operation Warp Speed to test, trace, report, and vax everybody...if you refuse, it will be your fault if more people die and the Economy crashes. GUILT & SHAME!

Answer to the State or else! No thank you.

OPINION Defeat COVID-19 by requiring vaccination for all. It's not un-American, it's patriotic.

Via MolonLabe2012 Which Amendment was it that overrides all the others based on "statistical models" from a tiny handful of unelected, unaccountable academics? Like the three doctors from a single University in Ohio who are advocating for mandatory vaccinations, personal Rights be damned. Shocker, none of these Op-eds have a comment section. Gotta keep those echo chambers nice and clean.

Make vaccines free, don't allow religious or personal objections, and punish those who won't be vaccinated. They are threatening the lives of others.

To win the war against the novel coronavirus that has now killed over 158,000 people in this country, the only answer is compulsory vaccination — for all of us.

And while the measures that will be necessary to defeat the coronavirus will seem draconian, even anti-American to some, we believe that there is no alternative. Simply put, getting vaccinated is going to be our patriotic duty.

The reason: When an effective vaccine is available for COVID-19, it will only defeat the pandemic if it is widely used, creating “herd immunity.” It is important to note that, during an epidemic, there is no threshold above which the protection conferred by “herd immunity” cannot be improved. Thus, the more people who are immunized, the lower the risk for all of us, including those who are not vaccinated.

On Monday July 21, Joe Biden, the presumed presidential nominee of the Democrat Party, spoke at the online Million Muslim Voters Summit, sponsored by the Muslim American Political Action Committee (MAPAC) and orchestrated by their subsidiary Emgage Action. Approximately 3,000 people registered for the event.

Also speaking were U.S. House Representative Ilhan Omar (D, MN) and Linda Sarsour, anti-Semitic radical activist and leader of the Women’s March in 2018. Omar and Sarsour are strongly connected to such ideas as abolishing the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and defunding police departments.

Emgage Action had previously endorsed Bernie Sanders for President but changed their endorsement to Biden in April.

North Carolina Sheriff Sued Over Delayed Pistol Permit Applications

If you’re looking for an example of how pistol permitting schemes can be manipulated to indefinitely suspend Second Amendment rights, look no further than Wake County, North Carolina.

Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker is facing a new lawsuit alleging that the sheriff is unconstitutionally delaying pistol permits beyond the 14-day time frame required by law. In some instances, residents are being forced to wait 30-45 days to obtain their permits.

The suit is being brought by the gun-rights group Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC) on behalf of several plaintiffs, some of whom hope to become first-time gun owners to defend themselves against recent civil unrest.

The Long, Hot Summer of 1967: A Forgotten Season of Riots and Urban Unrest Across America

The Book of Ecclesiastes says that there is nothing new under the sun. And while many have spoken of the “unprecedented” nature of the rioting in the early summer of 2020, it is actually quite precedented. 

The Long, Hot Summer of 1967 was the peak of urban unrest and rioting in the United States in the lead up to the 1968 election. While there are certainly a number of key differences, there are also a number of striking parallels that make the topic worthy of discussion and examination.

The long-term impact of the urban unrest of the summer of 2020 is unclear, but the long-term impact of the Long, Hot Summer of 1967 and related urban rioting was a victory for Richard Nixon in 1968, and a landslide re-election in 1972. One must resist the temptation to make mechanistic comparisons between the two, and we will refrain from doing so here. But the reader is encouraged to look for connections between these events and more recent ones.

In any crisis, we generally get to see the best and the worst of human behavior.  Some people are able to overcome the challenges by devising effective strategies and taking appropriate action.  Others either surrender to failure or use the crisis for nefarious purposes and personal gain.  On the local level, the majority of folks will recognize the need to find a reasonable solution and move forward, as long as the outcome is generally favorable.

In our severely divided nation, however, every crisis becomes a tool to advance a political agenda.

The Licensed Battlefield Guides at Gettysburg are raising the alarm over a recent vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to have all Confederate monuments, statues and “commemorative placards” removed from Gettysburg National Military Park as well as all other federal parks nationwide. “We urge the U.S. Senate to strip out this provision that would destroy the unequaled collection of monuments, Union and Confederate, that set Gettysburg apart as a great battlefield park and a top visitor destination,” said Les Fowler, president of the Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides. Fowler said the legislation in question – HR-7608 – recently passed the full House. It would direct the National Park Service to remove all Confederate monuments, memorials, placards and statues at Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Antietam, Chickamauga, Manassas, Petersburg, Fredericksburg and 18 other battlefields and historic sites within six months. These Civil War battlefields and their monuments and interpretive plaques have been preserved to help Americans and foreign guests visualize and understand the terrible ordeal that forged this nation. The monuments at Gettysburg from both sides allow us to interpret this national struggle for freedom as it continues today.

Gettysburg is the largest Civil War battlefield commemorating the bloodiest battle ever fought in North America. Licensed Battlefield Guides have provided tours of the battlefield since 1915 and today are the nation’s oldest professional guide service, providing interpretation and context for the battlefield and more than 1,300 monuments and markers. “The monuments representing all of the soldiers who fought here are a critical component of interpreting these sacred grounds,” Fowler said.

Veteran battlefield guide Deb Novotny said, “The monuments serve as tools for us to tell the story not only of this battle but of the struggle of our nation to heal itself after the war.” Decorated combat veteran Elliott Ackerman, a columnist for the New York Times, recently wrote: “An area of our complex past that should be left untouched are battlefields... Blood consecrates a battlefield, and it is never the blood of only one side.” The provision to remove Confederate monuments and markers was buried deep within a 727-page bill that also funds the State department, Agriculture department and the EPA. Despite the House’s action, there is still an opportunity to save the important story told at these Civil War parks by urging the Senate to remove this provision from the final funding legislation. “We will do what we can to convince all members of Congress to address and to oppose this removal provision. A new model from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington’s School of Medicine suggests North Carolina may need to reimpose restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19 in October.

The model suggests North Carolina will need to reimpose mandates such as non-essential business closures and stay-at-home orders, when the daily death rate reaches 8 per million.
