I was a teenager before I realized "Damn Yankee" was two words. It was the one phrase I didn't get threatened with washing my mouth out with soap when I was a child.
I live next door to a Yankee couple. But they are from the Michigan Upper Peminsula, like it here in Tennessee and think like us. The man was even wearing a Confederate Flag tee shirt one day. --Ron W

Young son to momma - momma can a southerner become a Yankee? Momma reples, Why hell no child. No true southerner can become a Yankee and why would they ever want to ?
