Necessity Forced Separation

The State of Mississippi withdrew from the American Union on January 9, 1861 and notified its United States Senator, Jefferson Davis, that he no longer had business to conduct in Washington. Notified of this, on January 24, Davis delivered his farewell address to the Senate and proceeded to his home State and a position as commander in chief of Mississippi’s armed forces with the rank of major-general. Shortly afterward he found himself called the presidency of a more perfect union.

The War Between the States Sesquicentennial:

Necessity Forced Separation:

“On February 9 [1861, Davis] was elected President of the Provisional Government of the Confederate States, at Montgomery, Ala., and on the 18th day of the same month he was inaugurated as such President. He delivered an inaugural address that day, which he said was deliberately prepared and uttered as written, and, in connection with his farewell speech to the Senate, presented a clear and authentic statement of the principles and purposes which actuated him in assuming the duties of the high office to which he had been called.

In this inaugural address, among other things, he said: “Our present political position has been achieved in a manner unprecedented in the history of nations. It illustrates the American idea that government rests upon the consent of the governed, and that it is the right of the people to alter or abolish them at will whenever they become destructive of the ends for which they were established. The declared purpose of the compact of the Union from which we have withdrawn was to “establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity;” and when, in the judgment of the sovereign States composing this Confederacy, it has been perverted from the purposes for which it was ordained, and ceased to answer the ends for which it was established, a peaceful appeal to the ballot box declared that, so far as they are concerned, the government created by that compact should cease to exist.

In this they merely asserted the right which the Declaration of Independence of July 4, 1776, defined to be “inalienable.” Of the time and occasion of its exercise they as sovereigns were the final judges, each for itself. The impartial and enlightened verdict of mankind will vindicate the rectitude of our conduct; and He who knows the hearts of men will judge of the sincerity with which we have labored to preserve the government of our fathers in its spirit.

The right solemnly proclaimed at the birth of the United States, and which has been solemnly affirmed and reaffirmed in the Bills of Rights of the States subsequently admitted into the Union of 1789, undeniably recognizes in the people the power to resume the authority delegated for the purposes of government. Thus the sovereign States here represented have proceeded to form this Confederacy; and it is by abuse of language that their act has been denominated a revolution.

They formed a new alliance, but within each State its government has remained; so that the rights of person and property have not been disturbed. The agent through which they communicated with foreign nations is changed, but this does not necessarily interrupt their international relations.

We have entered upon the career of independence, and it must be inflexibly pursued. Through many years of controversy with our late associates of the Northern States we have vainly endeavored to secure tranquility and obtain respect for the rights to which we were entitled. As a necessity, not a choice, we have resorted to the remedy of separation, and henceforth our energies must be directed to the conduct of our own affairs, and the perpetuity of the Confederacy which we have formed. If a just perception of mutual interest shall permit us peaceably to pursue our separate political career, my most earnest desire will have been fulfilled.

But if this is denied to us, and the integrity of our territory and jurisdiction assailed, it will but remain for us with firm resolve to appeal to arms and invoke the blessings of Providence on a just cause. With a Constitution differing only from that of our fathers in so far as it is explanatory of their well-known intent, freed from sectional conflicts, which have interfered with the pursuit of the general welfare, it is not unreasonable to expect that the States from which we have recently parted may seek to unite their fortunes to ours under a government which we have instituted.”

EGYPT AND THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD

View Image

Part 1 of a Series

Mike Scruggs

According to the earliest Christian traditions, the author of the Gospel of Mark brought Christianity to Egypt in the first century, probably between 41 and 44 AD. There the Coptic Christian Church formed and grew despite culturally entrenched polytheism and vicious persecution by Nero and several later Roman emperors. Yet Alexandria, the great center of Egyptian learning, eventually became one of the four great centers of Christianity. In 639, all but a remnant of Christianity was swept away by the Muslim Arab conquest of Egypt.

Today, Egypt’s nearly 80 million people are 94 percent Sunni Muslim, but about 5 percent belong to the Orthodox Coptic Christian Church. Coptic Christians still suffer persecution and sometimes deadly violence in Egypt.

Much of the population of Egypt could be described as secular or cultural Muslims. They are not especially strict adherents to all the teachings of the Koran, Muhammad, or Sharia Law, but they identify with Islamic culture and religion generally, so long as they are compatible with their own personal prosperity and security. A significant minority identify with the mystical but heretical (to mainstream Islam) Sufi teachings emphasizing deeper spirituality. Sufism is generally, but by no means always, associated with a more peaceful practice of Islam. It is probably most common among Muslim intellectuals.

However, Egypt is the birthplace and home of the Muslim Brotherhood, the original Muslim terrorist organization of the last century. Founded in 1928 by Islamic scholar and Sufi schoolteacher Hassan al-Banna, the Muslim Brotherhood had over 500,000 members by 1938. Although it is essentially a Muslim revivalist organization, it has become the most influential Muslim political organization in the world. It is powerfully influential in Egypt. The Brotherhood’s stated goal is to make the Koran and the teachings of Muhammad “the sole reference point” for ordering the Muslim life, family, community, and state. Hence they are strong advocates of Sharia Law and holy war against all who oppose or compromise the dominance of Islam.

In December 1948, fearing the growing strength of the Muslim Brotherhood and believing they were plotting a coup, Egyptian Prime Minister Mahmoud an-Nukrashi Pasha outlawed and disbanded the Brotherhood. He was assassinated less than three weeks later. Shortly thereafter, on February 12, al-Banna and his brother-in-law were gunned down in front of a government office building in Cairo.

Al-Banna’s legacy still lives, and it is, unfortunately, a frightening legacy to Christians and Jews. He once wrote, “In Muslim tradition, there is a clear indication of the obligation to fight the People of the Book [Christians and Jews] and of the fact that Allah doubles the reward of those who fight them. Jihad is not against polytheists alone, but against all who do not embrace Islam.”

Al-Banna’s Islam was not a new version of Islam. It was a revival of the Islam of the Koran and the teachings of Muhammad that would not abide accommodation to colonialism, secularism, Western religion, culture, or democracy.

Al-Banna’s intellectual and spiritual heir was Egyptian educator Sayyid Qutb. Qutb once attended college in the United States and became thoroughly disgusted with its “gaudy secularism.” He opposed both Capitalism and Marxism. Like many Muslim imams, he despised democracy because he believed that the laws of Allah were not a matter of majority vote. He stood clearly for imposing Sharia Law by Jihad. In his view, the Muslim Brotherhood should use… “the method of preaching and persuasion for reforming ideas and beliefs and…physical power and Jihad for abolishing the organizations and authorities…which prevent people from reforming their ideas and beliefs…” according to the teachings of Allah. Qutb also said that if anyone rejects Islam, “then it is the duty of Islam to fight him until either he is killed or until he declares his submission.”

The Egyptian government cracked down on the Muslim Brotherhood in 1954 after the attempted assassination of Pan-Arabist nationalist President Gamal Abdel Nasser. Qutb was arrested and imprisoned. He was released at the end of 1964 but arrested again in August 1965. Nasser had him hanged in August 1966 for planning another assassination attempt.

Al-Banna and Qutb are still much revered in the Muslim world. Qutb’s teaching and books were highly influential in the establishment of the Islamic Jihad, al-Qaeda, and Hamas terrorist groups. Sayyid Qutb’s brother, Muhammad, mentored Ayman Zwahiri who became the leader of Islamic Jihad and is now a high-ranking member of al-Qaeda and mentor to Osama bin Laden.

On October 6, 1981, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, was assassinated by six Egyptian soldiers, members of the Muslim Brotherhood and its offshoot, Islamic Jihad. The issue was Sadat’s peaceful accommodation of Israel. Sadat was succeeded by Hosni Mubarak, the current president.

The Muslim Brotherhood has been keeping its head down for many years, even claiming a new philosophy of peace. This is because Mubarak’s security forces have kept them under close and sometimes harsh surveillance.

The Muslim Brotherhood is now the largest political opposition force in Egypt. They do not want stability. Political chaos would be a more suitable environment for taking control of the Egyptian government and suppressing any democratic opposition. Their only formidable opposition is the Egyptian Army. If the Muslim Brotherhood gains power in Egypt, it will severely endanger the peace of Israel, the United States, and the world.

To be continued.

Agent Terry’s Family May Sue The ATF Under The Federal Tort Claims Act

http://immigrationclearinghouse.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Brian-Terry.jpg

"Brian Terry, a Border Patrol agent and U.S. Marine veteran, was murdered on American soil by foreign nationals using rifles that were illegally purchased a year ago by straw-man buyers at an Arizona gun store. We also know that ATF has been instructing U.S. dealers to proceed with the sale of guns to illegal straw purchasers, even after the dealers had specifically warned them that they appeared to be illegal. We know that two of these ‘monitored’ guns were recovered at the scene of Agent Terry’s murder."

Secession Is The Hope For Mankind. Who Will Be First?

Secession Proclamation Draft, June 14th, 1861, drafted by the governor of Virginia

"For most of recorded human history, people have organized their lives into tribes. The most recent forms of tyrannical governance around the world seek to either subjugate or destroy tribes. But those tyrannies don’t seem to understand tribes fully, even though tribalism is sprinkled throughout their lives.

I’m writing this to explain why you should care about tribes, and how your everyday life is affected by tribalism."

"U. S. acting president, Muslim Barry Soetoro seems pleased to see it all happen. The Muslim word knows he is a complete failure, he is a weak ‘nothing’ in office, and they know now is the time to make their move. The world is wide open to the ravages of Islam. And it’s Israel in the crosshairs."

Pitt v. Edgecombe

Around the turn of the century Pitt County was very poor while Edgecombe was prosperous with Tarboro having a much larger population than Rocky Mount. The populations have now been reversed. As such, the women in Edgecombe only had to attend to household endeavors while the men were farmers. My Cousin Bill Bass tells a story of his grandfather being driven from Tarboro to Rocky Mount in his horse and buggy accompanied by Bob, a black servant. At any rate, after they had pranced along for awhile Bob said to Mr. Bass, "We're in Pitt County now" to which Mr. Bass replied "How do you know that, Bob?"which was answered with "There's a woman plowing over there!

15 Surprising Previous Careers Of Our Presidents

"What is to be the consequence, in case the Congress shall misconstrue this part [the necessary and proper clause] of the Constitution and exercise powers not warranted by its true meaning, I answer the same as if they should misconstrue or enlarge any other power vested in them...the success of the usurpation will depend on the executive and judiciary departments, which are to expound and give effect to the legislative acts; and in a last resort a remedy must be obtained from the people, who can by the elections of more faithful representatives, annul the acts of the usurpers."

"With so many presidents having had a previous career as lawyers and legal professionals (a whopping 24 out of 44) or military leaders before they entered the political realm, it can be easy to forget that others have held a wide range of careers before entering the White House. From working in fields to entertaining audiences at the movies, the variety of careers held by these leaders just goes to show that anyone with the ambition, intelligence and charisma can be President if they set their mind to it– no matter where they started out in life."

The Real Life Civilization-Building Kit

"Saturday was indescribable. Nothing that I write can describe the utter state of lawlessness that prevailed. Every Egyptian prison was attacked by organized groups trying to free the prisoners inside. In the case of the prisons holding regular criminals this was done by their families and friends. In the case of the prisons with the political prisoners this was done by the Islamists. Bulldozers were used in those attacks and the weapons available from the looting of police stations were available.

Nearly all the prisons fell. The prison forces simply could not deal with such an onslaught and no reinforcements were available. Nearly every terrorist held in the Egyptian prisons from those that bombed the Alexandria Church less than a month ago to the Murderer of Anwar El Sadat was freed, the later reportedly being arrested again tonight. On the streets of Cairo it was the scene of a jungle. With no law enforcement in town and the army at a loss at how to deal with it, it was the golden opportunity for everyone. In a city that is surrounded with slums, thousands of thieves fell on their neighboring richer districts. People were robbed in broad daylight, houses were invaded, and stores looted and burned.

Egypt had suddenly fallen back to the State of Nature. Panicking, people started grabbing whatever weapon they could find and forming groups to protect their houses. As the day progressed the street defense committees became more organized. Every building had its men standing in front of it with everything they could find from personal guns, knives to sticks. Women started preparing Molotov bombs using alcohol bottles. Street committees started coordinating themselves. Every major crossroad had now groups of citizens stopping all passing cars checking their ID cards and searching the cars for weapons. Machine guns were in high demand and were sold in the streets."
