Cook Political Report shifts three Senate races toward Republicans
The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan election handicapper, shifted three Senate races in favor of Republicans as well as one Senate race toward Democrats less than five weeks out from the midterm elections.
Cook moved Senate races in Montana, Nebraska and New Jersey all in favor of Republicans. Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) faces one of the most competitive race this cycle, which was shifted from "lean Democratic" to "toss-up." Tester is running against state auditor Matt Rosendale (R) in a state where President Trump won by double-digits in 2016.

The Left Edge of Insanity: A Short Story of a Dystopian America

Standard Manufacturing Releases SKO Mini, a Semi-Auto, 12GA ‘Firearm’
It looks like a shotgun, shoots like a shotgun, and accepts 12GA shot shells, but according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the Standard Manufacturing SKO Mini isn’t a shotgun.
And if it isn’t a shotgun, it can’t be a short-barreled shotgun either, no matter the barrel length.
Using the same legal principle applied to the Remington TAC-14 and the Mossberg Shockwave, the semi-automatic SKO Mini can be purchased with a 14.75-inch barrel without the additional $200 tax stamp usually required to purchase a shotgun with a barrel longer than 18 inches.

Eight-year-old Swedish-American girl pulls pre-Viking era sword from lake
Via Billy
An eight-year-old Swedish-American girl came across an exciting find swimming at her local lake, when she pulled an ancient sword from its depths.
"It's not every day that one steps on a sword in the lake!" Mikael Nordström from Jönköpings Läns Museum said when explaining the significance of the find.
But that's exactly what happened to Saga Vanecek, who found the relic at the Vidöstern lake in Tånnö, Småland earlier this summer.
"I was outside in the water, throwing sticks and stones and stuff to see how far they skip, and then I found some kind of stick," Saga told The Local.

Grassley asks Ford's legal team for records of contacts with Feinstein and Hirono 'in light of recently uncovered information'
Via Billy
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote a letter to Christine Blasey Ford's lawyers Thursday asking for records and descriptions of communications with the offices of Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Mazie Hirono "in light of recently uncovered information."
The new request, revealed in a late-Thursday press release sent hours after senators got a chance to read the FBI's report on its investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations levied against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, was coupled with Grassley's third attempt to ask Ford's attorneys Debra Katz, Michael Bromwich, and Lisa Banks to share evidence cited as part of their client's claim she was sexually assaulted by the judge when they were teenagers.
"I urge you once again, now for the third time in writing, to turn over the therapy notes, polygraph materials, and communications with The Washington Post that Dr. Ford has relied upon as evidence," Grassley wrote at the end of his letter.

Graham Unleashes On Dems: ‘What Y’all Have Done Is Bullsh-t’ & “Hatred is their only platform."
Senator Lindsey Graham unleashed on Democrats in an Thursday night interview, declaring that the attempts to block the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh are “bullshit”.
Appearing on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News broadcast, Graham responded to comments made by Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, who said that the FBI investigation into claims of sexual harassment had been useless to Democrats.
Menendez and other Democrats described the report as a ‘sham’ and a ‘cover up’.
“That report — if that’s an investigation, it’s a bullshit investigation.” Graham urged.
“Let me tell it to my friend, Bob: What y’all have done is bullshit,” Graham added.
“If they ever write a book about overplaying your hands in politics, this is it. It’s in the first chapter.” he continued.
