Trump

On Friday, over 600 American companies signed off on a letter that expresses support for President Donald Trump’s ongoing tariff fight with China.

This letter will be presented during a hearing at the Office of the United States Trade Representative, where discussions have taken place regarding Trump’s recent proposal to hit China with $300 billion in new tariffs, according to the Daily Caller.

This letter comes as a direct counter to large companies like Apple, who have recently pressed for Trump to drop the tariffs, according to Reuters.

Make America States Again

I am honored to speak at the graduation from high school of these young men and women who were once my students and who are now my friends.

We’ve grown so close, in fact, I’ve decided to graduate with them!

Over the last few weeks, as the day of my departure grew near, many of these dear friends have thanked me for the lasting impression I’ve made on their lives. Now, while anyone of them can tell you that being unable to take a compliment is my fatal flaw, I responded honestly when I told them that they have had as lasting effect on my life as I have had on theirs.

A judge decided to appoint a special prosecutor Friday to investigate the decision by Cook County prosecutors to dismiss all charges against actor Jussie Smollett, who was accused of lying to the police by claiming he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in downtown Chicago in January.

Cook County Judge Michael Toomin suggested that the county’s state’s attorney, Kim Foxx, mishandled the Smollett case by appointing a top aide to oversee it after she recused herself.

A dirty, rotten, double crossing (true) story of what happened to the Italian American mob

Everyone knows the tales. In the crucible of modernity that was 20th-century America, no one commanded more attention from writers, filmmakers and law makers than the Sicilian mafia. Sure, crimes change – rackets, extortion and hit men fell from the headlines, replaced by hackers, dark web drug runners and data fraud – but the goodfellas stuck around. With the death of Francesco ‘Franky Boy’ Cali in March said to be the first killing of a Five Families boss since 1985, GQ flew to New York to find out what they’ve been doing in the shadows.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered 1,000 National Guard Troops to the Mexican border Friday. The troops are tasked with supplemental staffing for new detention facilities being built by the Department of Homeland Security to free up Border Patrol agents.

“The crisis at our southern border is unlike anything we’ve witnessed before and has put an enormous strain on the existing resources we have in place,” Governor Abbott. “With the deployment of these troops, we are taking action to confront the crisis at the border and keep potentially dangerous criminals and illegal activity out of our communities.  said in a press conference in the Texas Capitol. “By working together with our federal partners, we will continue to pursue a strong and comprehensive strategy to secure our border.”

Robert Lewis Dabney: A Forgotten Visionary

“Government is not the creator but the creature of human society.  The Government has no mission from God to make the community, on the contrary the community is determined by Providence, where it is happily determined for us by far other causes than the meddling of governments – by historical causes in the distant past, by vital ideas, propagated by great individual minds – especially by the church and its doctrines.  The only communities which have had their characters manufactured for them by governments have had a villainously bad character.  Noble races make their governments.  Ignoble ones are made by them.”
Rev. Robert Lewis Dabney, Stonewall Jackson’s chief of staff, several years following the War

Congress has a far greater number of wealthy people than the general population.  Consequently, the bureaucrats that Congress has created by their legislation also have brought unto themselves great wealth.

Much of their wealth comes prior to serving in Congress it can be said. But much more from assets to the immediate temptation of graft and corruption euphemistically referred to as lobbying and appropriate legislation.

Lobbying, for the most part, is the influencing by former congressmen and senators of current congressmen and senators. “Appropriate” legislation is, for the most part, that which aids those businesses in which congressmen and senators have investments or want to invest.

‘Gun-Free’ Policy Disarmed Virginia Beach Victim, Family Calls for Investigation

On May 31st a gunman killed 12 coworkers at the Virginia Beach, VA, Municipal Center. One of the victims’ family is calling for an immediate investigation into the events surrounding the tragedy.

Kate Nixon was one of the victims, and her family is calling for the investigation. They note that there were significant events leading up to the shooting, including an altercation with the shooter on city property, and Nixon had expressed specific concerns to her husband about the shooter.

The night before the shooting, Nixon had been so concerned that she and her husband discussed her bringing a handgun with her to work. Ultimately, they decided against it because of the city’s policy that employees can’t bring weapons to work, even if they are licensed to carry a concealed firearm.

Border Patrol Chief: If Illegal Aliens Don't Have To Face Consequences, Then Why Am I Here?

Carla L. Provost, chief of the United States Border Patrol, testified before Congress on Thursday to discuss the ongoing illegal immigration crisis and humanitarian efforts conducted by US Border Patrol agents. While on the Hill, Provost told Congress that the Border Patrol is short on manpower, sacrificing time with their families, and is being stretched thin which leads to narcotics and other national security risks due to unchecked illegal aliens crossing over the Southern border into the country. As for what to do about this, the Border Patrol chief urged the government to enforce the law and have consequences for those who break it.

But for an American supporter of the Islamic State group living in western South Carolina, that was exactly the point.

And apparently, he was directly targeting children.
