Yes Virginia, Monuments DO Matter - The Elephant in the Polling Booth

Three Virginia localities had monument relocation/removal referendums on their ballot yesterday.  In all three localities, the citizens sent a strong clear message that they do not want their memorials removed.  Each locality  voted overwhelmingly AGAINST monument removal.

In Mathews County, the mandate was a landslide 80% AGAINST removing the Confederate Memorial located at the historic courthouse there. This after a valiant and courageous effort by the Lane-Armistead Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #1772 to inform and mobilize local citizens.

In addition, Governor Northam’s pals from his monument destroying administration have all been defeated, with the Democratic candidates for Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General losing to Republicans, and Republicans have even taken back the Virginia House of Delegates with a new majority.

Medal of Honor Roll Call: Michael E. Thornton

The Giant Killer

Medal of Honor recepient Navy Seal Michael Thorton was born in Greenville, South Carolina and raised on the family farm near Spartanburg. Thornton joined the Navy upon graduating from high school in 1967 and completed the rigorous training to join the SEALs, the Navy’s elite sea-air-land special operations force. As overall American conventional forces were gradually withdrawn from Vietnam in the early 1970s, the “unconventional warfare” role of Navy SEALs grew. In the spring of 1972, Petty Officer Thornton was assigned to a mission under the command of Lt. Thomas Norris. Michael Thornton’s Medal of Honor citation reads:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while participating in a daring operation against enemy forces.

“PO Thornton, as Assistant U.S. Navy Advisor, along with a U.S. Navy lieutenant serving as Senior Advisor, accompanied a three-man Vietnamese Navy SEAL patrol on an intelligence gathering and prisoner capture operation against an enemy-occupied naval river base. Launched from a Vietnamese Navy junk in a rubber boat, the patrol reached land and was continuing on foot toward its objective when it suddenly came under heavy fire from a numerically superior force.

“The patrol called in naval gunfire support and then engaged the enemy in a fierce firefight, accounting for many enemy casualties before moving back to the waterline to prevent encirclement.

“Upon learning that the Senior Advisor had been hit by enemy fire and was believed to be dead, PO Thornton returned through a hail of fire to the lieutenant’s last position; quickly disposed of two enemy soldiers about to overrun the position, and succeeded in removing the seriously wounded and unconscious Senior Naval Advisor to the water’s edge. He then inflated the lieutenant’s lifejacket and towed him seaward for approximately two hours until picked up by support craft.

“By his extraordinary courage and perseverance, PO Thornton was directly responsible for saving the life of his superior officer and enabling the safe extraction of all patrol members, thereby upholding the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service.”

Collier provides more detail of the engagement and rescue:

“During the five-hour firefight, Thornton was wounded in his back. Norris ordered Thornton and two of the South Vietnamese SEALs to fall back to a sand dune to the north and provide covering fire. Not long after, the Vietnamese SEAL who had stayed behind arrived at Thornton’s position and told him that Norris had been killed. Thornton charged back over 500 yards of open terrain to Norris. When he got there, he killed two enemy soldiers standing over the lieutenant’s body. He lifted Norris, barely alive and with a shattered skull, and began to run back toward the beach, enemy fire kicking up all around him.

“The blast from an incoming round fired by the USS Newport News blew both men into the air. Thornton picked up Norris again and raced for a sand dune and then retreated 300 yards to the water. As he plunged into the surf, Thornton lashed his life vest to the unconscious officer’s body. When another SEAL was hit in the hip and couldn’t swim, Thornton grabbed him and slowly and painfully swam both men out to sea. Despite his wounds, Thornton swam for more than two hours. All three wounded men were rescued by the same junk that had dropped them off 16 hours earlier.

The Giant Killer book & page honors these incredible war heroes making sure their stories of valor and sacrifice are never forgotten. God Bless our Vets!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression is a 1997 book by Stéphane Courtois, Andrzej Paczkowski, Nicolas Werth, and several other European academics[note 1] documenting a history of political repression by Communist states, including genocides, extrajudicial executions, deportations, and killing populations in labor camps and artificially created famines. The book was originally published in France as Le Livre noir du communisme: Crimes, terreur, répression by Éditions Robert Laffont. In the United States, it was published by Harvard University Press,[1]: 217  with a foreword by Martin Malia. The German edition, published by Piper Verlag, includes a chapter written by Joachim Gauck. The introduction was written by Courtois. Historian François Furet was originally slated to write the introduction, but he died before being able to do so.[2]: 51  The introduction emphasizes that the number of people killed by Communist governments during the 20th century amounts to more than 94 million.

Anti-CRT Parents Win School Board Victories Throughout America

People talk before the start of a rally against "critical race theory" (CRT) being taught in schools at the Loudoun County Government center in Leesburg, Virginia on June 12, 2021. - "Are you ready to take back our schools?" Republican activist Patti Menders shouted at a rally opposing anti-racism teaching …

 Loudoun as I remember.

The victory of Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin (R) over former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) has spurred excitement for future Republican wins, but the triumphs in local school board races hold special significance for those parents who fought big battles against leftist tyranny and Marxist-based Critical Race Theory (CRT) right in their own communities.

Ryan James Girdusky’s 1776 Project PAC has helped a number of candidates for local school boards win their elections. He and the PAC tweeted out the victories.

'Equity' in the exam room: CRT-inspired language

Dr. Jeff Barrows of Christian Medical & Dental Associations appeared yesterday on the "Washington Watch with Tony Perkins" program and responded to the AMA's plan to advance racial and social justice. The AMA, he argued, is increasingly ideologic in all of its public statement." "They clearly have bought into the LGBTQ agenda in so many ways; and now with this, they are clearly buying into CRT – and they're not hiding it," said Barrows.

A new document from American Medical Association wants doctors to use language inspired by critical race theory, a Marxist-based theory that claims white people are oppressors and black people are oppressed.

In an article posted to the AMA's website, Gerald E. Harmon, MD – the AMA's president – says the language physicians use when counseling patients "must change and evolve" based on new revelations and a "deeper understanding":

"The dominant narratives in American medicine and society reflect the values and interests of the historically more privileged socioeconomic groups – white, heterosexual, able-bodied, cisgendered, male, wealthy, English-speaking, Christian, U.S.-born.

Army Silenced Physician Who Reported Pilot Vaccine Injuries

 Via Billy

“The most physically fit female soldier I have seen in over 20 years in the Army, go from collegiate level athlete training for Ranger School, to being physically debilitated with cardiac problems, newly diagnosed pituitary brain tumor, thyroid dysfunction within weeks of getting vaccinated.”

An Army physician said she was removed from treating acute patients after reporting that three pilots had suffered injuries from the Covid vaccination.

Lt. Col. Theresa Long told a panel hosted by Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson on Tuesday that “in one morning I had to ground 3 out of 3 pilots due to vaccine injuries.”

“The third pilot had been vaccinated and felt like he was drunk, chronically fatigued within 24 hours after vaccination,” Long said. “The pilot told me he didn’t know what to do so he drank a lot of coffee to ‘wake himself up’ and continue to fly until he realized it wasn’t going away.”

Election Edition

It's important to keep elections in perspective. The Youngkin win in Virginia was a backlash against wokeness and willful societal destruction in the name of not being a horrible person. The old saying "nice guys finish last" reflects the rough and tumble world of politics. For those who would rather maintain civility, decency and self respect, it's sometimes better to lose than to get into the gutter with one's opponent just to win, depending on what one stands to win. When it comes to a bonus, or a raise, one might opt to remain decent and faithful to the virtues one promotes to his children. When it comes to the survival of the nation or the culture, there are no depths that should not be plumbed in order to win that fight, because no virtue is taught by starvation or execution.

Nine reasons Republicans swept Virginia elections

I Spied Black Horse Cavalry, So I Run Like A Deer...........
Youngkin gets more than 65% of county votes
Republican running mates also rack up big margins here on way to sweep of statewide offices

Democrats who are staring in disbelief at the election returns underscore exactly why they lost: They did not fully understand the state they’ve been governing.

Parties often understand why they’re about to lose. That does not appear to be the case here. I hesitate to say a party deserves to lose but the fact that so many Democrats are astonished by Glenn Youngkin’s victory in the governor’s race suggests they were out of touch with the Virginia electorate and might benefit from being chastened.
