North Carolina’s Memorial to Her Confederate Dead

“One of the most outstanding projects of the North Carolina Division, UDC, for the next two years, will be the erection of a (stone or marble) pavilion in the Confederate Cemetery of Raleigh as a memorial to more than twenty-five hundred soldiers of the Confederate army and navy who lie buried there. While this great project is being sponsored by the North Carolina Division, the Johnston Pettigrew Chapter, of Raleigh, of which Mrs. Alfred Williams is President, has undertaken to restore the cemetery to something like its original beauty.

Around this historic spot is woven much of the tragedy and beauty of the history of Raleigh and North Carolina during the days of the War Between the States. Among those buried there are Col. W.H.S. Burgwyn, Gen. George B. Anderson, Josiah Turner, and others whose names are linked with the Confederacy.

The pavilion will be 36x22 feet, and a frieze of tablets will be placed inside the cornice – one tablet for every war in which North Carolina has had a part – Revolutionary, Indian, War of 1812, Mexican, War Between the States, Spanish-American, and the World War. One tablet for the 124 dead removed from Gettysburg in 1871; one tablet for the 106 unknown dead [“We care not whence they came / Dear in their lifeless clay / whether unknown or known to fame / Their cause and country sill the same / They died—and wore the Gray”]; one tablet for the 108 dead removed from Arlington in 1883; and a tablet each for the eleven Southern States and the Confederate navy whose dead are buried there.

There are nearly 2,000 from North Carolina; 44 from Georgia; Alabama, 8; Mississippi, 8; Virginia, 8; Florida, 2; Arkansas, 1; Tennessee, 2; Texas, 1; Louisiana, 1, and three from the Confederate navy.  Kentucky is the only Southern State that has no soldier buried there, but Kentucky will be honored by a tablet, so that for all time to come Kentucky will be represented there as a Southern State. There will be a tablet for every county in the State of North Carolina, giving the number of soldiers who enlisted from that county, and the number of those killed, thereby making a record for future generations.

In one gable will be the seal of the Confederacy, together with the flags of the Confederacy, all in colors; while in the other gable will be the seal of the State of North Carolina and the North Carolina flag, together with the United States flag.

The architecture of the contemplated pavilion with the same as that of our State Capitol building, which is nationally-known as one of the most beautiful State Capitol buildings of Colonial architecture.  North Carolina is proud to erect such a wonderful memorial to her Confederate dead.”

A World War of Community Organizers

 Via Sioux

War is what Obama does best.

The War on Women. War on Poverty. Class War. Race War.

Walk up to a union member snoozing on a bus, a Latino man crossing the street, a gay cowboy poet earning minimum wage, and community organize him along with a few hundred thousand others into the latest battle in the social justice war that never ends.

"Fight for card check, for birth control, for gay marriage and illegal alien amnesty." Every time a battle is won and an election ends, a new source of social conflict is dug up and deployed for war.

As a domestic radical, divisiveness is his natural weapon. Obama isn't out to unite Americans. He isn't even out for tolerance. His game is divide and conquer, playing on fragmented identities, assembling coalitions to wage war against some phantom white heteronormative patriarchy consisting of a middle class barely able to pay its bills.

It's governing by terrorism. The bombs are ideological. The objective is a constant state of war.

Connecticut politicians warned over gun laws

Via avordvet

Millions of gun owners across the country have been training to defend their liberties.

Politicians in Connecticut and other states that have either threatened to approve or have already passed new restrictive gun laws have received a fair warning from gun rights activists.

Perhaps the sentiments of gun owners are best expressed by T.L. Davis, who stated,
Those in possession of firearms are not asking the several governments if it is legal for them to have such weapons, they are telling these governments that they are legal and any attempt to confiscate them will be forcefully resisted.
Upon what does Davis base his declaration that the firearms possessed by citizens are legal no matter what the federal or state governments say? The answer is simple. The Constitution that created this nation of freedom says that firearms possession is an unalienable right. How do we know that?

Because it is the second of the citizens' rights specifically protected by the Constitution in the Bill of Rights, second only to the First Amendment right to free speech, free assembly, free press, and free religious expression.

 Animals.
Once they saw that she was a Christian [because of the cross hanging on her rear view mirror], they jumped on top of the car, to the point that the vehicle was no longer visible.
The roof of the car collapsed in. When they realized that she was starting to die, they pulled her out of the car and started pounding on her and pulling her hair—to the point that portions of her hair and scalp came off. They kept beating her, kicking her, stabbing her with any object or weapon they could find…. Throughout [her ordeal] she tried to protect her face, giving her back to the attackers, till one of them came and stabbed her right in the back, near the heart, finishing her off. Then another came and grabbed her by the hair, shaking her head, and with the other hand slit her throat. Another pulled her pants off, to the point that she was totally naked.

Obama dismissed by Saudi King Abdullah?

 Barack Obama, King Abdullah

Obama was scheduled to have what was described as an “intimate” dinner with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia over the weekend, and stay the night in the Kingdom. Howvever the dinner abruptly ended, and Obama left Saudi Arabia after only two hours.

Was there a national emergency in Obama’s Final Four bracket?

The objective of the visit was to  mend fences, and get the relationship between America and the Saudi’s back on track, so why the abrupt end?

Although the White House denies there was  dinner scheduled, apparently scrubbing all references to the soiree; there is some evidence still out there. It is rumored that........

When Jeremiah Denton met God

Jeremiah Denton walks free in Subic Bay

“My principle battle with the North Vietnamese was a moral one, and prayer was my prime source of strength,” he wrote.

Though happy and relieved to be free, when he finally arrived back in the United States, Denton was shocked by what he beheld.

“I saw the appearance of X-rated movies, adult magazines, massage parlors, the proliferation of drugs, promiscuity, premarital sex, and unwed mothers.”

This scenario, he wrote, was coupled with “the tumultuous post-war Vietnam political events, starting with Congress forfeiting our military victory, thus betraying our victorious American and allied servicemen and women, who had won the war at great cost of blood and sacrifice.”

Jeremiah Denton walks free in Subic Bay

Indeed, Denton was convinced the United States won the Vietnam War, only to throw away the victory for political reasons.

“The victory was insanely handed back to the enemy by congressional actions, motivated by political catering to the media, academic, and public antiwar activities, which tragically comprised a loud, violent, ignorant minority of our people who were swept along in the days of national dissolution,” he said in “When Hell Was In Session.”

*********************************************

In his book “When Hell Was In Session,” Adm. Jeremiah Denton – who passed away Friday at age 89 – described a life-changing personal encounter he had with God while being tortured in a rodent-infested North Vietnamese prison cell:

Our resistance remained resolute, and in the middle of October, Lump [a senior prison official] demanded information from me on camp communications. He told me they knew I was inciting others to resist, and he lost his composure for the first time, threatening me with torture if I didn’t cooperate.

I refused, and a special rig was devised for me in my cell. I was placed in a sitting position on a pallet, with my hands tightly cuffed behind my back and my feet flat against the wall. Shackles were put on my ankles, with the open ends down, and an iron bar was pushed through the eyelets of the shackles. The iron bar was tied to the pallet and the shackles in such a way that when the rope was drawn over a pulley arrangement, the bar would cut into the backs of my legs, gradually turning them into a swollen, bloody mess.

I couldn’t move my legs; I couldn’t turn my ankles; I had to remain in a sitting position at all times with my legs absolutely straight. The pulley was used daily to increase the pressure, and the iron bar began to eat through the Achilles tendons on the backs of my ankles.

After five days and nights in the rig, I decided to give them something harmless, hoping that the gesture would allow them to save face and release me. I wrote that we had talked to other prisoners while pretending to talk to the guards, and had also shouted under the doors. Lump shrugged and ordered me back into the rig. He was angered by my attempt to deceive him and determined to break me.

CSA Colonel Isaac E. Avery’s Last Note To His Father

Via WiscoDave

The battle of Gettysburg, with 50,000 casualties across both sides, was the deadliest and most important in the American Civil War. The address of Abraham Lincoln that came afterward is perhaps the most iconic speech ever made by a US president

Isaac E. Avery was a colonel in the Confederate States Army. During the battle, he was shot in the neck and was partially paralyzed, unable to move his right arm. When the mortally wounded Avery was dragged from the battlefield, he was clutching a small piece of paper.

He’d been knocked from his horse and had taken a piece of pencil lead from his pocket. Though right-handed, he’d used his left hand to scribble a note that read: “Major, tell my father that I died with my face to the enemy. IE Avery.”

He died the following day in the hospital. The note is preserved in the treasures collection of the North Carolina State Archives

Air Force removes Bible from POW-MIA display

Via WiscoDave

http://www.christianfighterpilot.com/images/powtable.jpg

On March 14 Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh told members of the House Armed Services committee that there was no war on religious liberty.

“The single biggest frustration I’ve had in this job is the perception that somehow there is religious persecution inside the United States Air Force,” the general told lawmakers. “It is not true.”
Rep. John Fleming (R-La.) told me the Air Force seems to be the worst offender when it comes to attacks on religious liberty.
If that’s true, perhaps Gen. Welsh could explain why a Bible was removed from a POW/MIA Missing Man Table at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida. The removal of the Good Book was first reported by the Gannett-owned newspaper Florida Today.

Base officials confirmed to Fox News Monday that the entire Missing Man Table display had been removed from a dining hall because of the Bible. A press statement said the inclusion of the Bible ignited “controversy and division.”

Albuquerque Erupts Over Police Shootings

Via Jonathan

What started as a peaceful protest yesterday in Albuquerque ended up with at least six protesters arrested, one officer injured, and more than two dozen canisters of tear gas thrown into the hundreds-strong crowd. Demonstrators started rallying downtown at noon, protesting against officer-involved shootings in the city, particularly the March 16 fatal shooting of homeless man James M. Boyd. The tear gas was used after 9pm, when protesters ignored commands to disperse, the Albuquerque Journal reports. Demonstrators also blocked traffic and caused "mayhem," the mayor said, as they tried to get onto freeways, the AP reports.

Protesters were accused of vandalism, fighting, throwing rocks, and trying to break the windows of a police cruiser with an officer trapped inside. "We respected their rights to protest, obviously," said the mayor, but "they’ve taken it far beyond a normal protest."(I've got a sterling idea, why don't y'all stop killing innocent people?  I know that would be a novel thought for you though. Michelle Obama Proudly And Wildly Waves Commie Rags

michelle-obama-waves-communist-flag-china

Both Barack and Michelle Obama have a “flag problem” that has followed them around the entire time they have been campaigning for and serving in the White House. You will remember back in 2008 when Barack Obama adamantly refused to wear the American flag pin on his lapel like every other candidate.

Remember this one? The Obama’s would rather you forget it…

Or how about this image from the campaign trail when Barack Obama was the only one with their hand not over their heart during the playing of the National Anthem? Even back then, the Obama’s were telling us who they where and what they believed…but America wouldn’t listen.

Now flash-forward to Michelle Obama’s 2014 trip to Communist Red China. Land of the deplorable human rights, persecution of Christians, and the demonic One Child Policy that kills girl babies.

Ron Brown's House of Cards

Via Sioux

Former congressman Barney Frank does not much like the wickedly cynical series on Netflix, House of Cards. He has particular trouble believing that a charming Southern Democrat and his ice-queen wife could cheat and lie and murder their way to the White House.

“Preposterous” is how Frank describes the series’ lead character, Frank Underwood. “He has no political principles, either substantive or procedural,” whines Frank. “There is no issue about which he cares; no tactic he will not employ, no matter how unfair it is to others; and he is thoroughly dishonest.”

Frank would seem to have forgotten about Bill and Hillary Clinton, their 1995-1996 re-election campaign, and its ultimate victim, Clinton Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, who died on a Croatian hillside eighteen years ago this Thursday.
