The Price of a Koran

What does a Koran cost? You can get a full color one for the Kindle for only 99 cents, just don't expect it to feature any pictures of old Mo. If you want to go deluxe, you can get a hardcover edition that runs three different translations side by side for around 40 bucks. But if you want to be more practical about it, the price of a Koran is the lives of six American soldiers.

That butcher's bill doesn't count the soldiers who burned the Korans, who despite following procedure will be penalized on orders of the White House which thinks that punishing American soldiers will somehow satisfy the Koran fueled bloodlust of men who aren't satisfied with their corpses.

The nature of the marketplace of human affairs is that a thing is worth what we will pay for it. Once upon a time Americans decided to pay any price for freedom. The price was high, but they got what they paid for... at least for a season or two. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were works of freedom written in blood. They made a free nation possible because that nation was willing to pay the price for them.

Muslims are equally willing to pay the price in blood for slavery, their own slavery and ours, for a book of slavery, written by an owner and abuser of slaves, who created a religion of slaves, where the optimal position was to stand on as many people as possible while reaching for heaven.

The men who fought to make us free placed value on their lives. The men who fight to enslave us place little value on their own. Whatever material pleasures they enjoy in this life, little girls, hashish and wealth, will be vastly improved upon in the afterlife. And they buy their way into that afterlife by killing us, as they have been doing for over a thousand years.

Keep Your Ovaries Out of Our Wallets

The wombs of America’s women are in the spotlight once again.

At a mock hearing arranged by DC Democrats in February, a lantern-jawed 30-year-old law student named Sandra Fluke (pronounced “Fluck”) predicted a looming Ovarian Holocaust among her sob sisters at school because the Catholic college’s healthcare plan did not include free contraception:

Forty percent of the female students at Georgetown Law reported to us that they struggled financially as a result of this policy….Without insurance coverage, contraception, as you know, can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school.

With the flinty resoluteness of a young Sam Waterston, Miss Fluke told the committee that $3,000 could suck up a student’s entire summer wages, which I suppose is true if you work at Burger King.

Fluke’s lips flapped about women’s emotions, about women’s needs, and how women were suffering and terrified and resentful because of society’s “barriers” and “burdens.” She said women are not being “taken seriously”—you know, the typical women’s-activist stuff. Unless it was a joke, she seriously claimed that the university was cruelly forcing the Wombs of Georgetown to “pick between a quality education and our health.”

She spoke of how a female friend—a gay one, naturally—had ovarian cysts that required birth-control medicine, but she also let it slip that even her Jesuit college’s healthcare plan covered such prescriptions in cases of medical necessity—as do most healthcare plans. Fluke claimed her Sapphic fellow traveler is “struggling to pay for her medication” and may even lose an ovary or die of cancer unless the feds pry open the Catholic Church’s doors with a tire iron and force them to tolerate contraceptive methods that go against their beliefs.

Camouflage and Concealment 101

The ability to conceal one's self and equipment from enemy observation, during daylight or night-time operations, is an obvious, basic critical tactical task for the resistance/guerrilla fighter. Camouflage is one of the most basic historical weapons of small-unit warfare. For irregular forces, the ability to effectively apply camouflage techniques may very well mean the difference between life and death on the battlefield. For lightly-armed, poorly-equipped irregular forces, camouflage is critical since the team cannot afford to be detected at any time while infiltrating an objective area, or while operating from an assault position/MSS/hide site. Just as marksmanship training teaches the guerrilla how to kill the enemy, knowing how and when to apply camouflage teaches the guerrilla how to avoid being killed by the enemy. The guerrilla element must remain camouflage-conscious from the time he departs the guerrilla base or underground safe-house, until he returns. Detailed attention to the fundamentals of camouflage and concealment is one mark of a well-trained guerrilla band.

Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site, in Johnston County, preserves part of the ground where federal and Confederate soldiers met in bloody combat nearly 150 years ago. The three-day action at Bentonville in March 1865 was among the last major conflicts of the war and was the largest land battle fought in North Carolina.

Lessons From a Hanging

Via Looking in the Mirror

A Midwesterner coming of age in the 1970s probably did not grasp that society was slowly unraveling, though I suppose the signs were there for anyone who cared to look.

Our street was of the typical blue collar, working class variety, peopled by janitors, salesmen, mechanics, truck drivers, and housewives. Of America’s Four Founding Virtues, which sociologist Charles Murray discusses in his latest study, Coming Apart: The State of White America, 1960-2010, industriousness and honesty were common, while marriage and religion were on shakier ground. Was this because society had already begun to unravel, or was it simply the natural order of things?

There is little doubt that divorce was a fashionable feature of the times. While less than 20 percent of couples who married in 1950 divorced, half of couples who married in 1970 did. By the end of the decade, half the homes on our block had been visited by divorce. (Shacking up, however, remained taboo. Even the neighborhood’s obligatory hippie couple was married.)

Even then, marriages were not dissolved over trifles.

Is This Why Carbonite Dumped Rush But Not Ed Schultz?

The Right Sphere

A lot of folks have been asking why Carbonite would choose to pull its ads from Rush Limbaugh’s show for referring to activist Sandra Fluke as a “slut” but they still advertise on Ed Schultz’s show after he referred to Laura Ingraham the same way. I wonder if the fact that Carbonite’s CEO, David Friend, is an Obama donor has anything to do with it? From Open Secrets:

Seems to me what’s good for the goose ought to be good for the gander. Then again, consistency has never been a strong suit of Obama supporters now has it?

War For Millionaires

After the departure of conservative Southern congressmen in 1861, the old Whigs in the Republican party went unrestrained in their merger of government and corporations. Historian Charles Beard would later write of the War that it was not easy to tell “where slavery as an ethical question left off and economics – the struggle over the distribution of wealth – began.”

War For Millionaires:

As the election of 1872 approached, the tax and tariff issues were potent enough for [President Ulysses] Grant to take at least some action. Trying to shore up support among farmers and others, Congress approved a 10 percent reduction in tariffs on most items including cotton and wool textiles, iron, steel, paper, glass and other items. But these were baby steps with marginal impact, designed to preserve the whole protectionist system.

Throughout the assault on the [Civil War] income tax, opponents had considered the step of going to court to challenge the tax’s constitutionality. Some suits were filed, and parts of the tax were upheld by various courts, including the Supreme Court. But as the expiration of the tax approached, there did not seem to appear much sentiment in Congress to continue it anyway. Senator [John] Sherman [brother of General Sherman] fought once again to keep the tax alive. He asserted that one of the most solemn obligations of the federal government was to protect the property of Americans. It was therefore only proper “to require property to contribute to their payment.”

Sherman’s appeal was to no avail. Congress was more sensitive to the demands of the growing number of wealthy entrepreneurs, investors, and tycoons, who were at their moment of maximum influence. The power of the new wealthy rested on the newly consolidated railroads and the many large fortunes create by the Civil War.

The landscape of wealth had changed. Whereas New York City had had a handful of millionaires before the conflict, there were hundreds of millionaires afterward. Their fortunes were in the tens of millions of dollars. A.T. Stewart, the dry goods magnate, was worth $50 million, and other millionaires, such as William B. Astor, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and the banker Moses Taylor, were not far behind.

Before Congress abolished the publication of income tax returns, it was reported that Astor had paid more than $1 million in income tax, while Vanderbilt and Taylor had paid more than $500,000. After the war, many millionaires routinely engaged in tax evasion or tricks to hide their income. What they did not bother to hide was their vast influence.

In 1869, Grant’s friend Jim Fisk worked with [Northern financier] Jay Gould to monopolize the market in gold, driving up its price so they could make a killing. Instead, on “Black Friday,” September 24, 1869, a collapse in gold prices engulfed a vast number of speculators and investors.

Fisk and Gould managed to bribe enough officials to avoid prosecution, and Fisk remained close to his trusting friends in the White House. Years later the Credit Mobilier scandal revealed that the construction company owned by stockholders of the Union Pacific Railroad had ensnared many prominent members of the Grant administration and Congress.

As tax the historian Sidney Ratner notes, the Civil War debt “became one of the most powerful instruments in America for the enrichment of the rentier class, the leading capitalists. For the next forty years, farmers, workers, small merchants and other working-class Americans carried this debt burden, to the benefit of the rich.”

David Stockman: We Are Heading for a Massive Cliff in 2013

Via NC Renegade

David Stockman was the wizard of Ronald Reagan’s economic policies. Mr. Stockman’s credibility and success make his opinions and analysis worth reading. Here are some highlights of the interview presented at the end of the article.

  1. The U.S. Economy has become super-saturated with debt.
  2. There is no sustained net investment in our economy.
  3. The Fed is a patsy. It is a pathetic dependent of the big Wall Street banks, traders and hedge funds.
  4. I wouldn’t touch the stock market with a 100-foot pole. It’s a dangerous place. It’s not safe for men, women or children.
  5. Capital preservation is what your first, second and third priority ought to be in a system that is so jerry-built, so fragile, so exposed to major breakdown that it’s not worth what you think you might be able to earn over six months or two years or three years if they can keep the bailing wire and bubble gum holding the system together, OK? It’s not worth it.

Mansion servant enslaved by uber-rich New York family for nearly six years

Via Old Virginia Blog

A wealthy New York woman is facing criminal charges after being accused of keeping an illegal immigrant as an indentured servant and forcing her to live in a closet for nearly six years.

Documents posted on the Smoking Gun allege that Annie George, 39, and her now-deceased husband, Mathai Kolath George, hired an illegal immigrant from the Indian state of Kerala. The immigrant, identified only as "V.M.," was promised about $1,000 a month in wages to live in the family's 34-room, 30,000-square-foot home, known as Llenroc mansion, which houses a helicopter pad, 15 fireplaces, marble flooring, 24-karat gold gilded ceilings and a glass elevator. V.M. was tasked with taking care of the Georges' four young children, along with performing household duties in the mansion located about 20 miles north of Albany.

2012 Pippen/Pippin Reunion will be June 2nd and 3rd

This marvelous picture was taken at the 2007 Pippen Reunion by Carolyn Pippen at Dixieland. Cousin Takara Jenkins seems to be most curious about her Cousin Sophia Bird, my granddaughter.

Early Details - 2012 Registration Form

“I am astonished at the desperation of the elite media to avoid rising gas prices,

to avoid the president’s apology to religious fanatics in Afghanistan, to avoid a trillion-dollar deficit, to avoid the longest period of unemployment since the Great Depression, and to suddenly decide that Rush Limbaugh is the great national crisis of the week,” the former House speaker said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Well, what now?

I am so disgusted with the people of this country mainly the news reporters. After a beautiful (Veterans) day on a Monday with all of those wonderful men and boys marching to show their distrust in Obama and not one major news media had the balls to even mention it. How in the hell can those idiots sleep at night? Bill O'really ? is really a dip shit. supposedly for the people yeah right.. he is a arrogant bag of wind who simply is there to make it look like fox is really a news outfit.. yeah right and O'handily who so handily ignores the facts. The one man who did talk about the real situation of this country got booted off the air? Now how do they cover that up? simple the people don't really care as long as their favorite shows are still on... and more and more are going on the air, inane situation reality shows like Redneck Vacation and Bayou Millionaires? what the hell? How about Mud fishing? well that does have some what of a redeeming feature, if the country goes to hell those guys will be able to eat catfish for a while but who knows how safe that would be with toxic mud etc.

Now we have the "DoomsDay Preppers" ? what the hell is wrong with people? Now the people who are not really awake are being told how silly it is to be a prepper? We see a silly fat guy with his guns and worries about being invaded etc and a fat lady who is a food a holic toasting to the end of the world and then no less than one of my own neighbors who is supposedly sane showing his "SECRET" room where he hoards his supplies. now really folks how hard would it be to figure that out?

I am a prepper, have been all my life but now is not the time to go all out showing how much I have or where it is... I did that a year or so ago and promptly the first time we were gone came home to a empty storage room. Cleaned out... now it is taking a lot of time and trouble to replace what I had and it isn't easy as the cost is almost twice what it was when I started, Mostly I am really pissed off about the jars and the reusable lids on them... Well the redneck has come out in me and don't come on our property unless you have a invitation, our dog will announce your arrival well before you get to the gate. We will be ready. It has also cost us as we felt we had to put in some cameras so we can see who comes and goes. All of this should not be necessary. We are supposed to be a country of civilized people but alas we are not.

We have spawned a generation of useless eaters I am afraid. Used to be us the old folks that were called that but now I am not so sure. The old people still do most of the work, have some common sense left and if not completely fluoridated and drugged we are still the only hope I can see for our country. The only draw back is we are scared, scared of losing our homes, our jobs, our bank accounts and all we have worked for including our reputations.. well folks it is going to happen anyway sooner or later why not make it sooner and take the chance of making things right again...?

We fell for the hype on the TV and radio and in a effort to NOT BE A RACIST we allowed a huckster to take over the White House... What a joke. Not a funny joke but a joke never the less. There are still lots of people who will not see what is obvious and still hang on to the hope of change he professed.. They do not realize the change is here... we are no longer FREE.. We are the slaves and he is the master.. he and his ugly wife. Ugly from the inside out.

The dollar is in free fall... make sure to spend it quickly before it loses any more value. Stock up on everything you can find. Think about your day to day life and what you use the most and put in more supplies. Don't let anyone make you feel like you are foolish, it won't matter if there is a crisis or not you will still have the things you need without paying Obama's price for them

I don't watch TV very much but the past week we have had company and I did watch quite a bit and realized that it has really changed rapidly.. not too many years ago there were some rules maybe not written but the ads on TV during the early evening when children were still up and about were mainly common place... now? Oh My Lord, at dinner time we are being told to use napkins with wings, Victoria's seductive big breasted models selling bras, men with little peckers touting how to grow bigger ones and then there are the lovely couple in bed with the girl talking about his and her oils for more enjoyment? I hate to tell you men out there but if I had to use a special ointment to enjoy sex you would not be in my bed.... period....

I cringe and I am sure Sonny turns over in his grave when I think of Chasity Bono back on the TV with her/his Mom and Dad and the love they seemed to lavish on it..now looking on the Yahoo home page there grins a fat bloated perverted looking humanoid who seems to think it is a man? My God people what a abomination of humanity and the beauty of the body God gave us to cherish, and take care of.... And we applaud that behavior? We openly accept it with no qualms? What happened to morality and the ability and guts to say out loud that is wrong.? Have we all been drugged and over medicated along with brain washed by the criminal element of our country?

When was the last time you said Grace at meal time? seriously that has almost become a forgotten action. We still say grace but we also sit down to the dinner table every evening come rain or shine. We do not eat in front of the TV altho I do listen to Republic radio and John Stadtmiller at dinner time, it keeps me grounded so I know things are not right even though it may seem like it from our daily lives.

Here lately I have given a lot of thought about people in general, mainly how most are not even aware of any problems other than the high cost of gas, most don't have a clue about the cost of groceries going up as the manufacturers simply remove some of the products from their boxes... no one notices... and if they did they wouldn't raise much Cain about it, just take it in stride like good zombies.... the only thing that would really upset the younger set now would be to lose their games and their text phones etc... what happened to talking to each other? We are all human aren't we? What happened to looking into each others eyes and being able to see if the person was truthful or not? What happened to helping the neighbor fix his car, roof, etc...???? Today neighbors would simply report someone working on their car in the drive way after all the HO don't allow that... Or having a unlicensed car in your yard? The county doesn't allow that... so many damn rules and people who follow them. It will be a relief to leave this world and just be silent and peaceful and watch the clouds float by.

My past week has been really busy, Karen was here with her beau ( a really nice guy who is pretty much aware and awake) and Tim out did himself bringing home plum tomatoes that had started to get little spots on them and could not be sold... we peeled and sliced and dehydrated them for a couple of days then Karen put them all in the blender and made Tomato powder out of them... works so good. you need to try it. a case of tomatoes can be reduced to about 2 cups of powder which you can use in everything.. just a couple of tablespoons and you have tomato sauce or ketchup (catsup) or what every you need it for. We also had zucchini that was huge, way too large but we sliced and dried it with a sprinkle of seasoned salt and we have some great chips to dip and snack on.

I am suffering with a horrible cold and it is snowing outside yet the sun is shining? It is time to take a nap and regenerate some energy and get ready to listen to the races.... Oh Lord Yes...Tim is a Nascar fan... Can't help it folks everyone has their little faults and this is his... Actually it could be worse.

Gainful Employment Rule

David vs. Goliath

In 1986, I graduated from Penn State University. My costs to attend for four years are about the same it costs to attend there today for one year. In a little over two decades, the cost of higher education has skyrocketed; and what has occurred at Penn State is the norm. And in today’s job market, many students are unable to find employment in their chosen field – if they can find a job at all.

In an apparent effort to protect students from incurring high student debts, while at the same time not being able to pay them off, the Obama administration has enacted the Gainful Employment Rule (DOE Press Release). This rule is designed to punish institutions whose students graduate and their salary to loan-debt ratio is too high. In other words, too much of their income is going to pay back their student loan and these students are at a higher risk of defaulting on their loans.

The punishment for wayward institutions is a corresponding reduction in student loans. An institution that cannot extend student loans cannot survive. In theory it seems that the federal government is looking to protect unsuspecting students from predatory institutions; but upon closer inspection, this rule is designed for the federal government to seize control of higher education is this nation.

The major problem with this proposed rule is that it will only affect for-profit or vocational colleges. These institutions play a major role in developing young people to learn a skill and enter the workforce. These institutions fill a void left by traditional colleges and universities as they reach out to those who are not prepared for a four year school either financially, emotionally or otherwise.

Since this rule will only affect for-profit schools, its unfairness can easily be demonstrated.

Israel shelves Iran military option

Ron Prosor, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations says Jerusalem believes diplomacy is the preferred course to resolve the current nuclear standoff with Iran.

“We should really pursue and focus on the sanctions and the diplomatic elements in trying to bring the regime in Tehran to reassess the way they want to go forward,” explained the Israeli diplomat.

The emphasis on the diplomatic option would appear to be a shift toward the position of the Obama administration which has stressed stepping up the diplomatic and economic pressure on the regime of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

“We are very keen, very clear in saying there is still a lot to be done on the diplomatic front that is not being done. … It is a pity that this has taken so much time. … But, I think the sanctions, especially those on the central bank of Iran, can be very effective. We have to pursue that,” said Prosor in an exclusive interview Friday.

Fanning racial fires Whites: Black FDNY group barred us

Via Gates of Vienna

A tutorial workshop for the upcoming FDNY entrance exam turned raucous last night when the organization that represents black firefighters — which was hosting the Queens event — turned away whites who wanted to attend.

“This is absurd,” fumed Rob, a 21-year-old who was one of about 60 whites refused entry by the Vulcan Society at MS 72 in Jamaica and whose angry reaction drew 30 NYPD cops and school safety officers.

“My dad [a firefighter] was killed on 9/11. I always wanted to be FDNY,” said Rob, who did not give his last name, as about 110 black men received a test prep inside.

BBC Confesses: We'll Mock Jesus but Never Mohammad

Couldn't make this crap up.

The head of the BBC, Mark Thompson, has admitted that the broadcaster would never mock Mohammed like it mocks Jesus.

He justified the astonishing admission of religious bias by suggesting that mocking Mohammed might have the “emotional force” of “grotesque child pornography”.

But Jesus is fair game because, he said, Christianity has broad shoulders and fewer ties to ethnicity.

Mr Thompson says the BBC would never have broadcast Jerry Springer The Opera – a controversial musical that mocked Jesus – if its target had been Mohammed.

He made the remarks in an interview for a research project at the University of Oxford.

We Few, We Happy Few, We Band Of Brothers......

Re-post x4:)

Via memory jog from Dedicated Dad's comment on "War Is A Racket"

Morning of the Battle of Agincourt 25th October 1415, painted by Sir John Gilbert

He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,

Will stand a tip-toe when this day is named,

And rouse him at the name of Crispian.

He that shall see this day and live old age,

Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,

And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispin's:'

Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.

And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'

Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,

But he'll remember with advantages

What feats he did that day.

Then shall our names,

Familiar in their mouths as household words,

Harry the king,

Bedford and Exeter,

Warwick and Talbot,

Salisbury and Gloucester,

Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.

This story shall the good man teach his son;

And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,

From this day to the ending of the world,

But we in it shall be remember'd;

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me

Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,

This day shall gentle his condition:

And gentlemen in England now a-bed

Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,

And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Textbook biases for Islam are answered

Textbooks published in the United States have come up with some famously biased stunners on occasion. For example, what’s being taught from some of those books now includes:

  • The Jewish Temple in Jerusalem contained “symbolically, the throne of their invisible God.”
  • Jesus was a “Palestinian Jew” who grew up in Galilee amidst “militant Zealots.”
  • It was “a few followers” of Jesus who “spread the story” about his resurrection.
  • While Islamic Arab warriors “rarely imposed their religion by force,” Christian monks “by contrast,” were busy converting “peoples of Central and Eastern Europe.”
  • Israel is to blame for terrorist attacks by Palestinians because they were “angered over the loss of their territory.”
  • When the Jewish state of Israel was born in 1948, the nation and its neighbors “went to war.”
  • It was because of the “loss of their territory to Israel” that “militant Palestinians responded with a policy of terrorist attacks.”
  • “The Quran permitted fair, defensive warfare as jihad, or ‘struggle in the way of God’” and this was how Muhammad and his successors expanded their territory.
  • And while Jesus is “believed” by followers to be the messiah, it’s a fact that “Gabriel continued to send revelations to Muhammad over 22 years.”

Now there’s an easy way to alert students – and teachers – to those mistakes and make sure the truth is included in a discussion on the subject.

ACU Gives 23 in Congress a Perfect Score

Not impressed with some of them.

NEWSMAX

The American Conservative Union has announced its 2011 Ratings of Congress, awarding its perfect 100 percent score to nine GOP senators, 14 House Republicans — and no Democrats.

“Since 1971, the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization has annually graded Members of Congress based on their votes on key conservative issues,” the ACU said in a statement.

ACU Chairman Al Cardenas said: “With government growing faster than at any other time in the history of our country, the American Conservative Union continues to play a major role in giving the American people the tools they need to make informed voting decisions at every level of government.”

Cardenas went on to “applaud and thank the many Senators and Representatives who achieved perfect or high scores on our 2011 ACU Ratings of Congress. Their unwavering commitment to our shared conservative principles stands in stark contrast to the liberals in Washington who continue to rubberstamp President Obama’s failed agenda for America.”

The ACU tracks a wide range of issues before Congress to determine which votes serve as a clear litmus test separating conservatives from liberals.

The Senate received an overall rating of 62 percent for 2011, up sharply from 41.5 percent in 2010.

The Republican average was 83.4 percent, while Democrats scored a paltry 5.3 percent rating.

Republican senators who received a perfect 100 percent rating — called “Defenders of Liberty” by the ACU — are Tom Coburn (Okla.), Jim DeMint (S.C.), Orrin Hatch (Utah), Jim Inhofe (Okla.), Ron Johnson (Wis.), Mike Lee (Utah), Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.), and David Vitter (La.).

Nineteen Democratic senators received a rating of zero percent, including Barbara Boxer (Calif.) Debbie Stabenow (Mich.), Al Franken (Minn.), Harry Reid (Nev.), and Charles Schumer (N.Y.).

The lowest Republicans were Scott Brown (Mass.) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), both at 50 percent. The highest Democrat was Ben Nelson (Neb.) at 25 percent.

The overall House rating was 48.2 percent, with the Republicans averaging 81.5 percent the Democrats 6.5 percent.

Fourteen Republican House members were “Defenders of Liberty,” while 54 Democrats scored a zero percent rating.

The lowest Republican was Richard Hanna (N.Y.) at 40 percent, and the highest Democrat was Dan Boren (Okla.) at 48 percent.

Founded in 1964, the ACU states that it represents the views of Americans who are concerned with economic growth through lower taxes and reduced government spending and the issues of liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values and national security.
