It happened in the 200 block of South Florida around 5:47 a.m. Police officials say the 28-year old female victim called 9-1-1 to report a man was standing in front of her car and was refusing to leave.

Upon officers arrival, they found 29-year old Brandon Allen Stallings standing in the alley next to the victim's car.

As the officers approached Stallings, police say he then pointed a handgun at the victim's car and fired multiple times into the windshield. The victim was struck several times by the bullets. She was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital with what police say are life-threatening injuries.

Stallings dropped the gun and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit officers were able to arrest Stallings. He's been booked into the Potter County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Evading Arrest. Police say it's suspected that Stallings is the victims ex-boyfriend. Their investigation into the incident continues.

The absurd idea that compromise was ever going to work was absurd. The left doesn't compromise, instead it uses each compromise as proof of insincerity. The only way to beat the left is to never compromise with the left. Once you try to find common ground, then you've given up the fight in a fight that never ends.

"Our form of compulsory schooling is an invention of the state of Massachusetts around 1850.  It was resisted—sometimes with guns—by an estimated eighty percent of the Massachusetts population, the last outpost in Barnstable on Cape Cod not surrendering its children until 1880's when the area was seized by militia and children marched to school under guard."   From that point forward, literacy rates dropped in the state, and have not since recovered.

In case Race is the next god to fail, there is Climate waiting in the wings. Like "scientific socialism", its dogma is in fact anti-scientific, since when its predictions are shown false, it simply shifts the goalposts, so that it can never be falsified (in the scientific meaning of that term). Hence, falsified "man-made global warming" becomes "climate change". The Left really cannot beat a doctrine in which breathing is taxable and must be controlled by the state.

In issue No. 9 of al Qaeda's English language Inspire magazine, there's a section called Open Source Jihad. In it, the author uses pictures and diagrams to show readers how to start forest fires in America using what he calls "ember bombs" ... They talk about the correct wind patterns to set a forest fire in. The right season, the right time of year, the correct temperature—all designed to cause the maximum amount of carnage and death.

Our opponents, it is becoming clearer, wish us dead, or at least silenced. They cloak that essential truth with a bodyguard of lies. They believe, truly believe, that if they win the political argument in a rigged game in which both political parties participate that that will be the end of it—they will have won and we will have lost. They do not respect us because we do not respect ourselves.

Every sane person had better hope and pray against violence. This goes for you, Mike, and everyone like you. I understand your efforts and I know why you prepare. This thing could blow-out at any seam, at any moment, and it is only prudent to be ready if that happens. I, for one, would have far, far greater esteem for anyone ready—like me—to present themselves for imprisonment in order to demonstrate to the whole world just what this regime appears to be ready to destroy... the final and terrible resort to violence would yet be available.

There is a crash about to happen yet no one understands the noise nor will hear it. The United States of America is about to pay a $150+ trillion bill for decades of arrogance, waste, and spending on foolishness which will result in the collapse of Imperium yet the citizens as usual will never know it until the barbarians are inside the gates. The crash is not financial or economic. Sadly, it is the worst crash of them all: Our system of government.

Self-Igniting Fire Starter

Via Ol' Remus

I am always on the lookout for a new fire starter, and when I find a new idea, of course I have to try it out!

Well I have found a new interesting concept and I thought I might share my attempt with it.  It is a fire starter that has an ignition source, an accelerent, and fuel, all in one.  And an additional benefit is they are waterproof!  The idea here is to take a Strike Anywhere match, wrap it in toilet paper, and then dip it completely in paraffin.

I can’t take the credit for this idea as I saw it a few months ago on a YouTube video by the “intenseangler”.  I don’t recall how I happened upon the site, as much of it has to do with fishing,  but I was glad I did.

In the video, the small Strike Anywhere matches are used, which requires that the toilet paper you wrap around it be cut into thirds.  I don’t have any of the smaller Strike Anywhere matches, only the large kitchen type.  Therefore I was able to cut the toilet paper squares in half, making the Self-Igniting Fire Starter longer, and therefore larger.  It is recommended that you use a “soft” toilet paper and I used Charmin Ultra Soft, two ply, as this is all we use.

I will, as usual, use a photo format to explain what I did as it is easier to understand by seeing the process.  Of course, this isn’t brain surgery, and is a pretty easy process.  If you are interested in the video you can check it out at the channel indicated above.

Those who dismiss FEMA camps as paranoid ravings of tinfoil hat conspiracists would rather not dwell on the internment of 80,000 Japanese Americans and 30,000 Japanese non-citizens during the war years of the 1940s. Even the FBI's J. Edgar Hoover argued against mass imprisonment without due process, and dragged his feet in implementing it, but President Roosevelt thought it a splendid idea. FDR's intimates confided he took pleasure in the difficulties and subservience of common people. This order added pointless persecution to his guilty gratifications.

If we use occupied Europe as the measure, the internment itself was small scale and more disruptive than tragic—the Nazis could, and did, murder a larger number of inmates in one day art-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only-rev01.gif. Japanese citizens could voluntarily move inland rather than be forcibly relocated, but it wasn't an attractive alternative in 1942 America. Nor was evasion of either option realistic, Japanese Americans had registered with the Census Bureau and non-citizens with the Alien Registration Act. As is routine for blatant violations of the Constitution, or even simple justice, the Supreme Court upheld FDR's Executive Order in 1944 with the usual creative misinterpretations and artful omissions, even 'though for Japanese citizens it plainly and illegally suspended due process and the Fifth Amendment. The Court has consistently held Constitutional guarantees are "valid unless needed".

The Santa Anita assembly area was emptied in October 1943 and became an Army facility. The exclusion order was rescinded in January 1945 and the last internment camp closed in 1946, the inhabitants having been free to stay while making their arrangements. The Supreme Court has not yet closed. An oversight, doubtless.

In our time, and perhaps not coincidentally, the DHS has planned a 100 mile exclusion zone along the US borders and coastlines in their entirety. It's an area approaching a million square miles, which would require a security force at least as large and as well funded as the armed forces. The DHS couldn't make their intentions any more obvious than by acquiring twenty-seven hundred armored assault vehicles art-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only-rev01.gif. In a crisis, anything within this zone can be requisitioned, including the inhabitants, or areas can be depopulated through forcible evacuation and "free fire zones" established.

We're told a truly dire emergency is needed. Or an Executive Order. We're confident DC can arrange either one.

NC: Stop Release Of Permit Holder Info

Several NC Sheriffs refuse to give sensitive information...

According to a recent article in the “The Charlotte Observer,” several of North Carolina's 100 Sheriffs are standing up for your rights by not releasing sensitive information associated with Concealed Handgun Permits which they feel is a breach of privacy and beyond the scope of what is required by laws covered under the Freedom of Information Act.

Citing safety concerns, some have refused requests based on concerns over the identities of victims of domestic violence who still may be in danger, as well as dangers many gun owners would face if the information was made public. Sheriff Alan Cloninger of Gaston County has sent a letter to CHP holders within his jurisdiction explaining his reasoning for not releasing private information, again citing safety concerns. North Carolina Sheriffs, along with many other law enforcement agencies are realizing that the release of such information is not only dangerous but a serious breach of public safety and privacy.

Legislative attempts to stop the pressure

Currently, there are two bills in the North Carolina General Assembly that address this important issue that you need to be aware of: SB 28 and HB 17.

SB 28: "Gun Permit Information/No Publication"(Bingham).

Removes concealed handgun permit and handgun purchase permit records from public record, preventing abuses of the information by media outlets such as those by the “Journal News,” WRAL-TV and “The New York Times.” GRNC supports the bill.

HB 17: "Gun Permits/Restaurants & Confidentiality" (Burr, Hager, Hollo, Bell).

The restaurant carry language of the bill is identical to what GRNC drafted in HB 111, which failed to pass the Senate last year. The second section removes handgun purchase permit and concealed handgun permit information from public record. GRNC supports the bill.

Your voice must be heard

If left to their own discretion, politicians will cater to the loudest voices. These two Bills are important safeguards against the abuse of sensitive information. Your information should never be used as a way to sensationalize news organizations' efforts to gain ratings as they have so many times before. They don't care about your safety, they care about their own ratings. Your State Senators and Representatives need to know that you are watching these Bills closely, and that they have your support.

Thankful

I am so thankful that we own the best congress money can buy. Well, somebody owns it. But one alert Congress-thing, Maxine Waters of California, alerted the entire country with a devastating result of sequestration. She warned that 170 MILLION jobs could be lost to sequestration.

This is terrifying, especially when you learn that only 134 million people are working in the US. Sequester will be so catastrophic that they will have to hire 40 million people and then FIRE them to meet her projected job loss.

I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

By the way, have y'all been having trouble understanding what sequestration is? Bernard Obama is threatening to lay of millions & maybe even open the prisons (I made that up. He hasn't said that yet, but give him 48 hours), but what's it really all about?

Reducing federal government spending by an across the board 2% (two percent). It doesn't actually reduce government spending. After adjusting for inflation and exempting defense & other spending, the CBO estimates that even with sequestration, spending will increase by $110 billion over the next 10 years that sequestration will supposedly cut $850 billion.

Meanwhile, Ben the Beneficent is PRINTING $85 billion a month, while these folks are arguing & threatening to shut down the Yankee government over cutting $85 billion A YEAR.

Y'all, we beat the Italians to it. We have nothing but comedians in office already.

NCFIRE: Email to NC Leadership- HB141

Members of the NC General Assembly need our help. They need help moving HB141- DACA Beneficiaries/Drivers License Moratorium out of committee. Time is critical. The NCDMV will begin reissuing licenses to illegal aliens on March 25th unless they are stopped.

Please send the following message to the 4 individuals listed below. (Don't forget to send this email to all your friends so they can contact the Leadership as well)

"I urge you to support NC HB141- DACA Beneficiaries/Drivers License Moratorium. This bill is currently sitting in the Committee on Rules, Calendar and Operations of the North Carolina House. Chairman- Representative Tim Moore (R- Cleveland County).

This bill would give the General Assembly the time necessary to study all the ramifications of issuing licenses to DACA eligible illegal aliens in North Carolina.

I feel the decision of the NCDMV, to begin reissuing licenses to DACA eligible individuals on March 25th, was made in haste and below the level of Government necessary to make such a decision.

I strongly urge you to slow this process down by supporting HB141 and give our elected officials time to thoroughly study the effects of granting driving privileges to DACA eligible illegal aliens in North Carolina".

Most N.C. gun deaths are from handguns, not ‘assault’ weapons

 GUNS1.NE.020613.TI

In the wake of gun massacres in Colorado and Connecticut, President Barack Obama has urged Congress to pass a series of gun control laws that include background checks for all gun sales and a ban on the assault-style weapons used in the shootings.

But those measures in particular may have little effect on day-to-day gun crime in North Carolina, which overwhelmingly involves handguns, many sold and traded beyond even the beefed-up system of background checks envisioned in Washington.

For the decade ending in 2011, handguns accounted for more than 81 percent of all firearm homicides in North Carolina in which the type of weapon was known, according to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.

Rifles, which include the assault weapons that have dominated the political debate, accounted for about 7.2 percent during the same period, the agency reported. Shotguns accounted for more deaths than rifles.

Stonewall Jackson Versus the Worthies of the North

 http://www.thetravelingrichters.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Memorial-to-Stonewall-Jackson-with-lots-of-artistic-license-in-terms-of-musculature-for-both-Jackson-and-his-horse.jpg

The early victories of Southern armies were cause for much celebration across the Atlantic, and this was reported home by Confederate diplomats. The London Times, Morning Herald and Evening Standard reported the elation with which Jackson’s victory at Chancellorsville was received, and the widespread grief over his death.
Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman
North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission
"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Stonewall Jackson Versus the Worthies of the North:

From: A. Dudley Mann, No. 48, 3 Rue D’Arlon, Brussels, May 28, 1863

To: Hon. J.P. Benjamin, Secretary of State, Confederate States of America, Richmond, Va.

“Sir: The excessive joy occasioned on this side of the Atlantic by our dazzling victory at Chancellorsville has been tinged by inordinate sorrow. [General Stonewall Jackson’s death causes] civilization to mourn, as it has rarely ever mourned, for the loss of a public man.

The London Times of yesterday no more than reflects the general opinion of Europe upon the subject in the following paragraph contained in its leader:

“The Confederate laurels won on the field of Chancellorsville must be twined with the cypress.  Probably no disaster of the war will have carried such grief to Southern hearts as the death of General Jackson….Even on this side of the ocean the gallant soldier’s fate will everywhere be heard of with pity and sympathy not only as a brave man fighting for his country’s independence, but as one of the most consummate generals that this century has produced.

The blows he struck at the enemy were as terrible and decisive as Bonaparte himself.  But perhaps the crowning glory of his life was the great battle in which he fell.

When the Federal commander, by crossing the river twelve miles above his camp and pressing on as he thought to the rear of the Confederates, had placed them between two bodies of his army, he was so confident of success as to boast that the enemy was the property of the Army of the Potomac. It was reserved to Jackson, by a swift and secret march, to fall upon his right wing, crush it, and by an attack unsurpassed in fierceness and pertinacity to drive his [enemy’s] very superior forces back into a position from which he could not extricate himself except by flight across the river.

[That evening], Jackson received two wounds, one in the left arm, the other in the right hand. Amputation of the arm was necessary, and the Southern hero sank under the effects of it. He was only thirty-eight years old, and was known before the war as a man of simple and noble character and of strong religious faith.”

The conservative organ, the Morning Herald, also in its leader says:

“No end can be more honorable to any man [than] to die at his post of duty. To die of his wounds in battle, with the shout of victory still ringing in his ears, is a glory reserved to the soldier.

The sympathy that is felt in Europe for their grief at this immeasurable loss will add to the warmth of popular feeling for the men who have striven so long in a just cause and acquitted themselves so well.  A soldier of remarkable ability, he fought with the advantage of an earnest faith in his cause; and, controlled in all he did by a strong religious feeling, he fought the better still for believing that God was on his side.

He was animated by the spirit which rendered the soldiers of the Commonwealth irresistible in fight, which carried Havelock through incredible dangers to the gates of Lucknow in triumph. The Christian and patriotic soldier achieved the last and greatest of his successes in dying for his country. He perished doubly a martyr, and in his last breath attested the righteousness of the cause which he sealed with his blood.”

The Paris correspondent for the Evening Standard….remarks:

“I cannot forbear noticing the universal feeling of regret  created among the English colony in Paris by the sad tidings….He was a hero after our own heart….I can safely say deeper and more unanimous sorrow has not been experienced by our countrymen here.

The Northerners in Paris often express wonder at the universal sympathy for the South felt by Englishmen. They may learn a useful lesson from the tribute paid by our countrymen to Stonewall Jackson. Independently of the justice of the cause, independently of the disgust excited by the arrogance and boasting of the North, it is the presence in the Southern ranks of such men as Davis, Lee, Longstreet, Jackson, Stuart, Beauregard, and Semmes that conciliate the esteem of the world, as well as its admiration.  Stonewall Jackson was one of the most heroic figures that have been thrown into relief in the course of this gigantic struggle.

Look at the North, and we may ask: Quando et quo invenient parem? Low speculators, dishonest politicians, pettifogging tyrants, unhanged murderers, and strong-minded women, for whose conduct insanity is the only possible excuse – these are the worthies of the North.  The loss of Jackson has brought home this contrast to many minds, and, if possible, added strength to the general conviction in the ultimate triumph of the cause supported by such as he.”

General Jackson has lived long enough for the creation of world-wide, exalted fame; but alas! not sufficiently long for the interest of his struggling country. Nobly, most nobly, did he complete his high mission on earth.  In his separation from us let us console ourselves with the belief that his illustrious example will exercise as salutary an influence upon our citizen soldiers in the hour of battle as did his presence, and that his pure spirit will linger around his beloved associates whenever they may be engaged and guide to their accustomed achievements.

I have the honor to be, sir, very respectfully, your obedient servant, A. Dudley Mann”

Sotomayor, Kagan Browbeat Scalia over Voting Rights Act Argument

Sotomayor and Kagan, how I detest thee, let me count the ways.

Liberals have accused Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia of being the court's resident bully, but when two liberal female Suprem Court Justices--Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan--this week tried to browbeat Scalia and lawyers arguing against the Voting Rights Act's Section 5 pre-clearance requirement, the mainstream media hailed their efforts.

In oral arguments in Shelby County v. Holder on Wednesday, Scalia made the point that members of Congress have no reason whatsoever to vote against the extension of the Voting Rights Act and that he was "fairly confident it will be reenacted in perpetuity unless--unless a court can say it does not comport with the Constitution."

"I think it is attributable, very likely attributable, to a phenomenon that is called perpetuation of racial entitlement," Scalia said

Scalia's point was that once a bill has the effect of ensuring that minority candidates get elected from "minority" districts, it is almost impossible, in the political system, to vote against extending the act.

"Whenever a society adopts racial entitlements, it is very difficult to get out of them through the normal political processes," Scalia said. "I don't think there is anything to be gained by any Senator to vote against continuation of this act."

Scalia said there were "certain districts in the House that are black districts by law just about now" and even the Virginia Senators "have no interest in voting against this" because they would lose votes "if they do not reenact the Voting Rights Act."

"Even the name of it is wonderful: The Voting Rights Act," Scalia said. "Who is going to vote against that in the future?"

White House’s false sequester claims prompt media pushback

The White House’s media management team will be in the public spotlight this week following a series of days in which it leveraged the media to distribute what turned out to be misleading or false information.

President Barack Obama told reporters that Capitol Hill workers were facing pay cuts as a result of the looming budget sequester. Education Secretary Arne Duncan cited the same cause when he incorrectly claimed that a school district was already laying off teachers. And White House spokesman Jay Carney understated by a factor of 10 the number of illegal immigrants administration officials released in a bid to lower the cost of housing inmates in immigration detention facilities.

Those statements came as the White House sought to create public anger about Republicans’ refusal to vote for additional new tax revenues as part of a last-minute budget deal to forestall the sequester, which will force mandatory across-the-board cuts across much of the federal budget.

But the release of more than 2,000 illegal immigrants set off a wave of public anger, partly because of coverage by upstart media outlets that have not been allied with the White House.

Obama Pushing “Most Anti-Second Amendment Nominee” in Recent History
Contact your U.S. Senators right away!

Senators on Capitol Hill are telling Gun Owners of America that Harry Reid is twisting arms to get support for one of the most anti-gun judicial nominees in recent memory.

Her name is Caitlin Halligan, and she has a long track record in favor of gun control.  In fact, one Senate Republican said that she is the most “anti-Second Amendment nominee Obama has ever put forward.”

As New York’s Solicitor General, Halligan was one of the chief lawyers responsible for New York’s baseless and politically motivated efforts to bankrupt gun manufacturers using frivolous litigation. In so doing, Halligan proved that she places liberal political activism above fealty to the law.

Halligan’s public hatred for firearms was only matched by her zealotry inside the courtroom. In a speech on May 5, 2003, Halligan called for “handgun manufacturers [to be held] liable for criminal acts committed with handguns.”

Certainly, no other manufacturer of another item -- whether it be cars, baseball bats, or anything else -- would be held liable for the criminal misuse of its product. And, as Halligan well knows, the application of that principle to firearms would surely eliminate the manufacture of firearms in America.

After attempts of legal extortion of the firearms industry were repudiated by a bipartisan vote in Congress, Halligan’s office did not let up on attacking gun rights, signing a legal brief calling for New York courts to declare the federal Gun Makers’ Protection Act unconstitutional.

Finally, Halligan, in written testimony submitted to the Senate in connection with her nomination, attempted to conceal the extent of her anti-gun animus.

Halligan’s failure to provide information that would clarify her statements, thus keeping her testimony from being misleading, constitutes “fraud” against the Senate. As such, the only role she should play in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals is the role of a defendant.

But, of course, none of this matters to Harry Reid. He and President Obama are doing what they can to pack the Appeals Courts with radical leftists.

We have to stop this Reid/Obama court-packing scheme. Please act now, as Reid is pushing hard for a vote on Halligan’s nomination.

ACTION:  Click here to contact and demand that your U.S. Senators oppose the Caitlin Halligan nomination to the DC Court of Appeals and support ANY and ALL efforts to filibuster her nomination.
