WBTS Confederate flag donated to Virginia museum

Via SHNV

“I assure you, it will stop people in their tracks."
- Becky Poulliot, executive director, Hampton Roads Naval Museum

********************************

A Confederate flag that flew in the Civil War has reportedly finished a 148-year journey — and will now be displayed in a Naval museum in Virginia.

Capt. Henry Hendrix, director of the Naval History and Heritage Command, accepted the flag from the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society during a July 31 ceremony in Dayton, Va., Military.com reports.

In 1865, Lt. William Ladd, a Union soldier, took the flag off the Confederate States Ship Hampton as it sank into the Potomac River.

Letter to Museum of the Confederacy

Urgent From Afghanistan - Museum of the Confederacy

Gentlemen,

I am writing from Afghanistan.  I don't have the time to do so, but this issue is so important to me that it requires that I place a portion of my time away from fighting our enemies to address one of my worst fears - the dissolution of the Museum of the Confederacy and its assets distributed across several other museums.  I am a warrior and the descendent of many Confederate soldiers.  The memory of their sacrifice is just as important as those my brothers, sisters, and I have made for our nation.  The Museum of the Confederacy has been a depository of all things Confederate since its inception and THE place where their memory will remain for all times.  Many Confederate soldiers and their families gave freely to the museum so that their sacrifices would be husbanded for the future.  I, too, have considered what to do with all the uniforms, gear, letters, memorabilia, and items I have collected throughout my career and the 5 combat deployments I have made in defense of my nation.  To give my personal treasure to a museum dedicated to the perpetual care and remembrance of my sacrifice is a sacred trust.  Just as I will give my historical artifacts used in the defense of my nation to a museum, thousands of veterans and their families have also given their treasure to the Museum of the Confederacy for perpetual care and remembrance.  To merge with other organizations, remove the name, and distribute the collective memories the Museum of the Confederacy is a mockery to their gifts and the purpose for which they gave them.

You have a duty to perform to the good of the institution you represent and I humbly ask for you to perform that duty for which you were chosen. You have a sacred duty to serve this institution for a term before giving it to my generation.  The dissolution of it is not part of that duty.   Just as I expect any institution to honor my gifts and honorably perpetuate the memory of my sacrifice, I humbly request that the Museum of the Confederacy continue in its current form for the sole purpose for which it was created.  To do otherwise is to dishonor those whom the museum represents.

I ask as a warrior son who knows only so well that death is the least of our concerns.  Just like my ancestors, I am more than willing to sacrifice my life and all my future memories and pleasures for my country - as long as that my life is not wasted and that my sacrifice is honored.  The Museum of the Confederacy exists for the sole purpose of honoring these men and it needs to live in perpetuity for that purpose.  If not, then it is the responsibility of the museum to return those artifacts to the families from which they came rather than send them to other institutions for which the original purpose was not designed.

I am more than willing to take any position on the museum staff to include the president of the museum.  We must not let this memorial die.

Thank you for your time,

Semper Fidelis,

Mike Landree

Virginia Flaggers I-95 Battle Flag Project

The Va Flaggers are THRILLED to announce that we have finalized a lease to acquire property adjacent to Interstate 95, just South of Richmond, and will be erecting a 50’ pole, on which a 10 x15 Confederate Battle Flag will fly 24/7, 365 days of the year.

The flag will serve to welcome visitors and commuters to Richmond, and remind them of our honorable Confederate history and heritage. The location is also historically significant, as Confederate troops are believed to have camped in and around the area during the Bermuda Hundred Campaign.

Site work will begin next week, with a September 28th Flag Raising/Dedication slated.

We have received an excellent deal on a pole, with an internal halyard. Much of the site work will be by volunteers and donations, and we expect to be able to complete this project at a cost of just under $3,000.

If you are interesting in contributing to the project, please make a check payable to “Virginia Flaggers” (Note: I-95 Flag Project in memo) and mail to:

Contributions can also be made through PayPal here…

Donations are NOT tax deductible as we have vowed to NEVER have the burden of 501c3 status to prevent us from fighting the good fight to defend our Confederate ancestors.

Veteran Joshua Severance Handcuffed & Detained For Legal Open Carry In Vermont

joshua-severance

Joshua Severance was seemingly minding his own business en route to his father’s house when he spotted a police cruiser. Severance happened to be carrying a 9mm semi-automatic handgun that was clipped to his belt and very much legal in Vermont. The gun was not concealed because it was hot and Severance had removed his shirt. But in Vermont open carry is perfectly legal.

WCAX reports:
Milton resident Joshua Severance says he was visiting his father in Rutland City and it seemed like a typical Monday. The 26-year-old was walking down Summer Street to get to his father’s apartment.
“There was a cruiser sitting there parked, and it saw me. I had my firearm on my side, had my shirt off because I was hot, minding my own business just walking along, cops saw me,”
Severance said. Severance says the police then stopped him and began asking him questions about the 9 millimeter semi-automatic handgun clipped to his belt. He says he was expecting questions about the gun he legally owns, but wasn’t expecting to be handcuffed and detained.
While the police ran background checks, the National Guard veteran says he felt disappointed at the way he was being treated. “I can see pulling somebody over and asking them to look at the firearm or check the serial number to see if it comes back stolen, but putting somebody in handcuffs and throwing them in a cruiser and treating them like a criminal from square one– I don’t agree with,” Severance said.

Is Barack Obama an 'America hating, communist despot'?

Via Billy

 a_4x-horizontal.jpg

U.S. Rep. Martha Roby, R-Montgomery, fielded a doozy of a question during a town hall meeting co-hosted by the Wetumpka Tea Party on Monday in Elmore County.

Roby was asked by a constituent what she and her "non-communist colleagues" in the House might do to stop President Barack Obama.

Specifically, here’s how the man – who is unidentified – posed it:

"What you can do to stop these communist tyrannical executive orders laid down by this foreign-born, America-hating communist despot?" the man said, drawing applause from the room at the Elmore Community Hospital.

Roby thanked the man for his question and offered her response.

Never again: Victim shoots back in 2nd robbery

 http://www.wnd.com/files/2013/08/130802houstonshootsback-340x170.jpg

After being robbed at gunpoint three weeks ago, a Houston, Texas, man resolved not to be the defenseless victim of armed violence again.

So when three armed men tried to stick him up Thursday, he was ready. The man reached into his car, pulled out his own gun and fired back.

According to a KHOU-TV report, the man was smoking a cigarette in front of an office building called the Caroline Collective at about 7 a.m., when witnesses say three men tried to rob him at the curb.

The man then reached into his SUV, pulled out a high-caliber handgun and fired. Two of the suspects were injured, one critically, before wrestling the gun from the victim and then fleeing.

“There were three of them,” an unidentified witness told KHOU-TV. “They apparently had two guns and they were on him in a hurry. And he had the presence of mind to grab his gun and protect himself. I’m really glad he had a gun, because I think he might have been killed today.”

Top Republican challenges Boehner over Benghazi probe

 wolf

Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., is too diplomatic to name names.

But, when WND asked the 17-term representative if the GOP leadership supported his call for a select committee to investigate the mushrooming Benghazi scandal, he replied, “As of now, no. But I’m hopeful. I think we have now shown enough questions to meet the threshold.”

WND asked Wolf if that meant the scandal had reached a tipping point in his quest.

He said “I think so,” because of dramatic new revelations, including new reports from witnesses.

President Obama may call Benghazi a phony scandal but those revelations make it look like he has the CIA desperately covering up something huge.

Wolf, whose tenure extends back to Ronald Reagan’s 1980 victory, is leading a crusade to get to the bottom of it and he thinks he knows exactly how to do it.

He has given speeches on the House floor for 12 days in a row calling for a select committee to investigate Benghazi, a plan he explained in great detail to WND on June 28.

Heated fight: Issa subpoenas Treasury for IRS documents, accuses agency of obstructing probe

Heated fight over IRS targeting scandal on Capitol Hill

A top Republican lawmaker on Friday subpoenaed the Treasury Department for documents pertaining to the IRS targeting scandal, after accusing the head of the tax-collection agency of obstructing congressional investigations.

During a tense hearing on Capitol Hill held shortly before lawmakers headed out for summer recess, acting IRS chief Danny Werfel weathered tough questioning from Republicans including Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Issa claimed the IRS has been slow to produce documents, and that the documents it does produce are so thoroughly blacked out, they are useless to investigators.

"When you eliminate search terms unilaterally you are obstructing us by limiting the scope of discovery. Do you understand that, Mr. Werfel?" Issa said, complaining that the IRS had narrowed the date range for the requested documents.

The 10 poorest Cities

Via Billy

                                                                                http://www.usacarry.com/forums/attachments/politics/5443d1334525683-america-s-10-poorest-cities-image009.jpg

The most recent Census has brought into focus some alarming and distressing data that should concern every American.  The ten poorest major cities of the U.S. were pinpointed and identified by the percentage of population below the federal poverty line.  First of all, is it ironic that while we hear so much from the media of how poor Appalachia and the south is, how poverty ridden areas of Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia are, that none of the ten poorest cities are located in the south or southeastern U.S?

Perhaps the most telling correlation of this data reveals that ALL of the ten poorest cities historically have a Democratic Mayor and going back for decades.  These numbers reflect the ten poorest cities by percentage rank and the political party in power"

1 Detroit, MI  32.5% Democratic since 1961

2. Buffalo, NY, 29.9% Democratic since 1954

3. Cincinnati, OH 27.8% Democratic since 1984

4.Cleveland, ON 27.0% Dem. since 1989

5. Miami 26.9%, always Dem.

6. St.Louis 26.8% Dem. since 1949

7. El Paso, 26% always

8. Milwaukee 26% Dem. since 1908

9. Philadelphia 25.1% Dem since 1952

10.Newark 24.2% Democratic since 1907

Fighter aces who flew for the Axis other than Germans in Europe

Via Daily Timewaster

World War II was truly a world-wide conflict, involving many nations around the globe. There were more pilots involved in the air war than just the Americans, British, Russians, Germans and Japanese. This week I want to focus on the air war over Europe. Specifically those fighter aces who flew for the Axis.

Italians, Slovaks, Romanians, Hungarians, Bulgarians, Croatians and Finns all fought side by side with the Germans. Mostly on the Eastern Front against the Russians. The Italians, though their armed forces were viewed with disdain by many, fought valiantly in the air in the East and in the Mediterranean theater. This week, gli altri combattenti, the other combatants in the skies over Europe.

HK and I are currently in the great state of Alabama, prepped for class tomorrow and Sunday.

In about two weeks, we'll be in Ft. Lauderdale.  On our way out to Idaho, we'll stop for a class in Michigan.  In early October we'll be at Brock's Fall PatCon in North Carolina.  In all cases we are eager to meet as many Patriots as possible so we can all help take this process of Restoring Liberty to the next level.  Meeting one another, shaking hands, training, breaking bread - I have not yet found a better bonding and building medium than being face-to-face.
