DEBKA: The Tsarnaev brothers were double agents who decoyed US into terror trap

Via NC Renegade

I have read various articles concerning the subject, but wasn't going to post until  I saw this one from DEBKA. Worthwhile.

The big questions buzzing over Boston Bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have a single answer: It emerged in the 102 tense hours between the twin Boston Marathon bombings Monday, April 15 – which left three dead, 180 injured and a police officer killed at MIT - and Dzohkhar’s capture Friday, April 19 in Watertown.

The conclusion reached by debkafile’s counterterrorism and intelligence sources is that the brothers were double agents, hired by US and Saudi intelligence to penetrate the Wahhabi jihadist networks which, helped by Saudi financial institutions, had spread across the restive Russian Caucasian.

Instead, the two former Chechens betrayed their mission and went secretly over to the radical Islamist networks.

By this tortuous path, the brothers earned the dubious distinction of being the first terrorist operatives to import al Qaeda terror to the United States through a winding route outside the Middle East – the Caucasus.

This broad region encompasses the autonomous or semi-autonomous Muslim republics of Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Chechnya, North Ossetia and Karachyevo-Cherkesiya, most of which the West has never heard of.

Moscow however keeps these republics on a tight military and intelligence leash, constantly putting down violent resistance by the Wahhabist cells, which draw support from certain Saudi sources and funds from the Riyadh government for building Wahhabist mosques and schools to disseminate the state religion of Saudi Arabia.

The Saudis feared that their convoluted involvement in the Caucasus would come embarrassingly to light when a Saudi student was questioned about his involvement in the bombng attacks while in a Boston hospital with badly burned hands.

They were concerned to enough to send Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saudi al-Faisal to Washington Wednesday, April 17, in the middle of the Boston Marathon bombing crisis, for a private conversation with President Barack Obama and his national security adviser Tom Donilon on how to handle the Saudi angle of the bombing attack.

The Yankee Chaplain’s Looted Library

The plantation of Josiah Collins, Somerset Place, on Lake Phelps in Washington county was looted by invading Northerners; General James Johnston Pettigrew was born and buried at nearby Bonarva Plantation -- the area is named Pettigrew State Park.

The Yankee Chaplain’s Looted Library:

“Many years after the war, Dr. Joseph G.D. Hamilton happened to run across [General Robert F.] Hoke and his son-in-law at a restaurant in Raleigh. As the men sat together on the porch before dinner, Hoke rested quietly, gazing off in the distance.

In a tone designed not to arouse the reticent old soldier, Hamilton began to relate a newspaper story about an event that had occurred after the surrender of Plymouth. A Federal chaplain who had been denied officer’s privileges and “his” library called on Hoke, who responded favorably to his pleas.
After the chaplain left, the general noticed two large wooden boxes. When he enquired about the contents, a soldier responded, “They are the books of that Yankee chaplain.”

Hoke noticed that the top of one of the boxes was broken, so he removed a book. It bore the bookplate of Josiah Collins of nearby Somerset Place in Washington County. When the boxes were torn open, it was seen that all the books were likewise marked.

The chaplain was immediately summoned to Hoke’s headquarters, where the general dressed him down and stripped him of all privileges.”

Steering America Toward Titanic Calamity: The Schumer-Rubio Amnesty & Special Interests Benefit Act

Mike Scruggs

 http://www.ldjackson.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/illegal-aliens.jpg

The official title of the Schumer-Rubio U.S. Senate bill, S.744, sponsored by the “Gang-of-Eight” is “The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act.” Like most dangerous and enormously costly legislation its title is misleading. It is clearly an amnesty and special interest benefits act designed to legalize as many illegal immigrants as possible and maximize the legal availability of more and more cheap imported labor to its special interest users.

Its claims of tough border security are largely a façade, with an implementation goal too late to prevent a massive influx of more illegal immigrants, while opening the doors wide for millions of new foreign workers. The only economic opportunity will be for the foreign workers and more profits for special interests. American workers will get crushed as their real wages are driven lower by massively increased competition from cheaper imported labor. Many will be forced to join the unemployment or welfare rolls.

As far as modernization, it fails to address substantial problems of immigration explosion created by the extended family preference system

Under this act any illegal immigrant who has not been convicted of a felony or three misdemeanors and can offer some proof of being in the U.S. since December 31, 2011, and meets a few other nominal process requirements is IMMEDIATELY eligible for a status adjustment from “unauthorized” to Registered Provisional Immigrant (RPI) Status for six years, renewable for another six years. The Registration Fee is a $500 fine. Except for the technicality of registration fees called fines, this is by any reasonable definition Amnesty for between 11 and 18 million people. This amnesty only requires the HSD Secretary to notify Congress that a strategic plan to secure the border has commenced—just a paper plan without any actual progress. Technically, they will not be eligible for U.S. welfare and healthcare benefits. The Democrats will probably try to remedy that when the dust settles a little.

RPIs may be upgraded to Lawful Permanent Resident Status (Green Card) in 5 to 10 years depending on several qualifying factors. Why 10 years? Because the Congressional Budget Office is only required to estimate costs for the first 10 years.  This is an accounting trick that Senator Sessions (R, AL) is protesting, asking the CBO for a full estimate of costs. However, the Heritage Foundation is already in the process of updating its cost estimate for the attempted McCain-Kennedy-Bush 2006 amnesty. The cost should be at least $2.7 trillion including only Social Security, Medicare, and additional Obamacare liabilities. We already have a national debt of $16.5 trillion, so what’s a few more $trillion. RPIs can qualify for U.S. citizenship and voting in between 5 and just over13 years, depending on several qualifying factors. Drumming up public, media, and Congressional sympathy and tears for shortening the time required for citizenship can be reliably expected to occur quicker than the ink can dry on S.744 if passed. Another clean-up amnesty just like the six that followed the 1986 Amnesty could be expected soon thereafter.

There is a Border Security Trigger for commencing Green Card status and health and welfare benefits. Just like the 1986 enforcement measures that have never been implemented, they sound tough—90 percent border effectiveness, etc. But no one outside of a madhouse believes Barack Obama or Charles Schumer will actually permit any enforcement. It might interfere with their massive import of future Democrats. That is also why the act allows five years to phase in the Employee Verification program.

Border security is overblown as prevention for illegal immigration. Half of illegal immigrants enter on a legal visa and then go illegal. These will not have to worry about apprehension unless they commit a felony and could confidently expect additional amnesties following the post 1986 amnesty pattern.

Besides the massive amnesty, the bill calls for legal immigration to increase from 1.1 million per year to 2.6 million per year. Before the 1986 amnesty, legal immigration was about 300, 000 per year. In addition, there are other programs that will run legal immigration to a total of around 3.0 million per year. In sharp disagreement with the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Gang-of-Eight believes the U.S. has a labor shortage. Tell that to the 20 million Americans who want a full time job and cannot find one! Excess labor supply will, of course, also drive down wage rates for American workers.

According to Harvard Professor George Borjas, probably the most respected labor economist in the U.S, the annual dent in American wages from competition from imported cheap labor since 1980 is already $402 billion per year, about $2,800 annually per working American. Besides the immigrants themselves, special interest users of imported labor benefit by $437 billion per year. That is why they spend about $300 million per year lobbing Congress—reaping a very profitable return on investment.

This bill is about special interest profits and building an overwhelming base of solid big-government and socially liberal Democrat voters. The hope of converting socially conservative Hispanics to Republicans is based on much-loved misinformation. The truth is that Hispanics favor the Democrats by about 3 to 1 because they prefer big-government social welfare programs, most notably Obamacare.  They are also significantly less socially conservative than the myth, having out-of-wedlock children and abortions at about twice the rate of non-Hispanic whites.

The mainstream media, however, is trying to panic Republicans into joining the amnesty bandwagon. Recent research and polls, however, indicate that Republicans will gain no Hispanic votes for backing amnesty and stand to lose a considerable share of their conservative base by caving in to amnesty and open borders. As amnesties begin reaping overwhelming numbers of Democrat voters, the Republican Party will become a powerless, dwindling minority. Grassroots Republican conservatives are already seriously concerned about the national party’s lack of courage and increasingly politically correct abandonment of social issues. Republicans must defeat Schumer-Rubio or face ignominious extinction.

Kicked out of the SS for cruelty

The High Court against Untersturmführer SS SS Max Toybnera. 05/24/1943.

The verdict of the Supreme Court of the SS and the Police in the case Untersturmführer [Lieutenant] SS Max Toybnera (Taeubner or Taubner) on May 24, 1943, in shorthand, of course, form. In parentheses is given to the original German spelling of names and terms in the square - notes and explanations interpreter.

1). The accused is a fanatical enemy of the Jews. Heading to the eastern front, he set himself the goal of "lay", if possible, 20,000 Jews. In August 1941, he was given with his repair platoon 1st brigade of the SS, September 8, 1941, he departed from the Aris (Arys), East Prussia, and on 12 September arrived in Zvyahel [Zwiahel, he - Novograd Volyn]. From the Ukrainian mayor, he learned that in a local prison are more than 300 Jews mayor asked them to shoot. The defendant heard that the Wehrmacht was Jewish issues a certificate stating that they are not Jewish. Because, in his opinion, the Wehrmacht was too sentimental, he decided to flogging forces of his platoon. Outside of the village Ukrainian police forces had been dug ditch, near which the Jews - men, women and children - had to kneel. Then they were on the team shot shot in the back of the head with a close proximity.

October 17, 1941 the defendant arrived with his platoon in Sholokhovo. There he heard that the Jews speak about to set fire to "collective", and two Ukrainians were blown up by mines and were seriously injured. For these reasons, the defendant, and then carried by its own decision execution of Jews. While in Zvyahele 319 Jews were shot here, there were 191. Tomb was in the bush, so the execution could not be observed by outsiders. Unterscharführer [noncommissioned officer] CC Muller, did not belong to the part of the accused, but the latter has received permission to take part in the shooting, tearing at it out of the hands of children and mothers, holding them in his left hand, shot them and threw it into the grave. Although the accused and demanded an explanation from Muller about this method, but eventually gave him a free hand.

In the period from 22 October to 12 November 1941 the defendant was standing with his platoon in the small town of Alexandria. There, he learned that most of the Jews were "resettled", but in the city there are still Jews who are still hiding from the "relocation". He also heard rumors that the Jews are going to poison the wells. So he decided to clean up the Jews of Alexandria, once it due to the weather and road condition was stuck in his platoon and did not have to do. He gave the order to gather all the Jews in the location of their unit. Members of the Imperial Labor Service (RAD) expressed their willingness to dig ditches for execution. In Alexandria, 459 Jews were shot.

While shooting in Zvyahele Sholokhovo and proceeded in a relatively orderly forms in Alexandria were disgusting excesses. The Jews who had cut wood for rooms occupied by platoon, were beaten on the pretext that it is not working as it should. They were beaten with shovels and also what distinguished primarily shturmmann [Corporal] SS Ackermann (Ackermann). Shturmmann SS Vyustholts (Wuestholz) demanded that the Jews, beat each other to death, promising that the survivor of the match will not be executed. Jews really beat each other, but not to death. The accused was involved in the beatings and he, in particular, beat whipping Jewish women in the face. In between, he played the accordion song "Baby, you're crazy!" Before the execution of Jews also beaten in the cellar near the location of the platoon. One time a few Jews had to carry one wooden structure.

It was arranged so that the structure had collapsed and they were buried under the rubble. In this case, although the Jews were injured, but not killed. The executions took place not only now in an orderly manner, in many cases, individual Jews after the violence were simply gunned down around the corner. Once at the request of the accused Jew was hanged.

While the mili maintenance platoon Zvyahele and Sholokhovo readily agreed to the proposal to accept the voluntary participation of the accused in the shootings, as they considered it necessary for political reasons, in Alexandria majority, especially by age, did not agree with what the nature of the action taken and were in serious conflict with his conscience.

 Excerpts

Excerpts from verdict of the SS and Police Supreme Court in Munich, against SS-Untersturmfuehrer Max Taubner, passed on May 24 1943 before SS-Standartenfuehrer (Colonel) Dr. Reinecke (judge) and SS-Obersturmbannfuehrer (Lt-Colonel) Dr. Brause, SS-Sturmbannfuehrer (Major) Sukkau, SS-Untersturmfuehrer (Second Lieutenant) Gamperl and SS-Untersturmfuehrer (Second Lieutenant) Tarnow. Document index: Az. St.L. 29/42.

1. The accused shall not be punished because of the actions against the Jews as such. The Jews have to be exterminated and none of the Jews that were killed is any great loss. Although the accused should have recognized that the extermination of the Jews was the duty of Kommandos which were set up especially for this purpose, he should be excused for considering himself to have the authority to take part in the extermination of Jewry himself. Real hatred of the Jews was the driving motivation for the accused. In the process he let himself be drawn into committing cruel actions in Alexandriya which are unworthy of a German man and an SS-officer. These excesses cannot be justified, either, as the accused would like to, as retaliation for the pain that the Jews have caused the German people. It is not the German way to apply Bolshevic methods during the necessary extermination of the worst enemy of our people. In so doing the conduct of the accused gives rise to considerable concern. The accused allowed his men to act with such vicious brutality that they conducted themselves under his command like a savage horde...

2. By taking photographs of the incidents or having photographs taken, by having these developed in photographic shops and showing them to his wife and friends, the accused is guilty of disobedience. Such pictures could pose the gravest risks to the security of the Reich if they fell into the wrong hands...

Dismissal of the case against the remaining parties, 1 June 1943

The following has been established on the basis of the main trial of SS-Untersturmfuehrer Max Taubner... The following men were party to the punishable acts committed or ordered by SS-Untersturmfuehrer Max Taubner:

SS-Unterscharfuehrer Walter Muller particularly stood out during the shootings of Jews with the brutality with which he tore small Jewish children from their mothers. He held these children in front of him with his left hand and then, with his right hand, shot them with a pistol.

[three more SS-personnel accused]

Allowances have been made for the fact that the accused were, without exception, acting on the orders of and under the responsibility of Untersturmfuehrer Max Taubner. In this respect, their own culpability may be described as slight...

VERBATIM

Below are a series of e-mails between myself and the President of the Society of Civil War Surgeons, Peter D’Onofrio. This is an excellent group whose members have done service to me when I had questions regarding wounds received by Col John Mosby (this information was published in The Southern Cavalry Review, the newsletter of The Stuart-Mosby Historical Society) and Dr. D’Onofrio is a stand up fellow. The Society has a website and an e-mail for those interested in looking into membership. I do not publish this as any kind of criticism of the SoCWS, but rather of the Parks Department and its ongoing campaign of political correctness directed against Southern Heritage.

To All Members

There has been a change regarding wall tents and CS uniforms. We can now have 7-8 Wall tents (one tent already being spoken for). As for the CS uniforms, as long as we can somewhat disguise them we can have them in camp. [my emphasis - vhp]

*The following indicated that they would not attend due to the wall tent regulation:
[2 names withheld for reasons of privacy]
*Apparently, others took this “request” in the same manner as myself - vhp

My response to the above e-mail:

Pete,

Why is it necessary to "disguise" Confederate uniforms? They are, after all, part of history and I assumed that's what the whole thing is about! If we have become so politically correct as to discard history, truth and facts in order to avoid "offending" people who should not be at such an event in the first place if they find history offensive, it would seem that this country truly is dead or at least brain dead.

Val

This is the request by the park service.[my emphasis – vhp] They are setting the rules, not the Society. Perhaps I used the wrong word in saying "disguise." They would like to see any Confederates to down play their uniforms as this is a Union camp. Yes, I know that there were captured Confederates even on the first day, and I think we can use that scenario if any one asks.

Pete

Pete

I understand that it is not the Society making these rules obviously! But the idea that this is a "Union camp" and therefore there should not be any Confederate presence is plain nonsense! Unless the Union fought the Battle of Gettysburg alone (and sadly it did not!), then the appearance of the other side at the event seems to be a "given."

I have seen enough of the ongoing efforts at cultural genocide against Southern history and heritage to know that this is a policy that would be in place by the Parks Department period. Even if the event had been a Confederate victory, the same would apply. They would simply not have such events surrounding First Manassas or Chancellorsville lest they do "honor" to those evil slavers. It's too sad to contemplate and that's why I will have nothing to do with Gettysburg at all for any reason.

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. (AP) — Officials at the Veterans Affairs medical center in Hot Springs have removed a Confederate flag from a historical display after some patients complained. VA Black Hills Health Care System Director Steve DiStasio tells the Rapid City Journal that he will meet with the veterans next week to talk about the matter.  The flag has been a part of the display for decades.

DiStasio says he understands that it might be offensive to some, despite its historical significance.  He says there is no time frame for making a decision on whether to permanently remove the full-size flag, and a smaller Confederate flag that is part of a separate display.

The real domestic terrorists

Via Terry

In the wake of the tragic Boston Marathon bombings, it took mere hours for CNN to strongly hint – without anything so significant as evidence or proof – that right-wing extremists were responsible.

In this, CNN is merely following the trend over the last five years or so in which the government tries to criminalize anyone who disagrees with it. Therefore it should come as no surprise that Americans who support the Constitution and Bill of Rights are now being reclassified as domestic terrorists, despite the fact that we haven’t done anything wrong.

In the 148-page straw-man document entitled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right” (published Jan. 15, 2013), author Arie Perliger identifies three groups who “self-identify with the far-right of American politics” who are responsible for “the dramatic rise in the number of attacks and violent plots.” These groups listed are 1) the racist/white supremacy movement; 2) the anti-federalist movement; and 3) the fundamentalist movement.

The first category, the racist/white supremacy movement, is fairly self-explanatory, though I question how many people actually belong to this group.

The third category, the fundamentalist movement, is defined as “mainly Christian Identity groups such as the Aryan Nations [which] fuse religious fundamentalism with traditional white supremacy and racial tendencies, thus promoting ideas of nativism, exclusionism, and racial superiority through a unique interpretation of religious texts that focuses on division of humanity according to primordial attributes.” Once again, I question how many people actually belong to this group.

However the second category, the “anti-federalist movement,” is the one I found most disturbing … because it could conceivably include literally half the population of America.

Heritage’s Carafano: Obama’s ‘Head in the Sand’ on Terror

Heritage Foundation security and defense expert James Jay Carafano tells Newsmax the Obama administration is so eager to declare victory in the war on terror that it is “putting its head in the sand” and ignoring the rapid growth of non-al-Qaida terrorist groups.

Carafano, the vice president of foreign and defense policy studies at the conservative think tank, praised the post 9/11 homeland security effort as “very effective,” citing some 54 instances where attacks and bombings targeted the United States were thwarted. But he criticized the administration for downplaying the war on terror as if it already had been won.

In an exclusive Newsmax.TV interview on Friday, Carafano charged the administration has “defined their way out of the problem” by focusing only on al-Qaida.

“They’ve basically said that we are fighting al-Qaida central, and al-Qaida and its affiliates, where people are actually planning operations to attack the U.S. or its allies. Well, when you define the enemy that way, you look pretty good.

“But the problem is there are a lot of groups that hate us, that aren’t necessarily directly affiliated with al-Qaida, which could attack the United States tomorrow and could be a significant threat, whether it’s Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Iranian Quds Force, or other things. And the reality is you’re not always going to get the early warning or signs that, ‘Tomorrow, I’m just going to decide to attack the United States.’”

Patriot's Day and Guns

Via Billy

April 19, 1775, Patriots Day, is the day that we celebrate the Battles of Lexington and Concord by the Militia against the British. People don't remember or realize that it was 1775. This was before the Declaration of Independence and before the American Colonies had an army.  These Patriots had guts!

At five in the morning, roughly 30 Patriot Militiamen stood up to hundreds of well trained and equipped of British troops. The British troops were trying to confiscate the militia guns and cannons. It was gun confiscation, not taxes that started the Revolutionary War.

More @ National Liberty Federation

I think the best way to honor “Patriots’ Day” is to practice “rifle marksmanship” as a modern day militia rifleman. You should make sure you have ammunition and equipment if you are ever called to muster with the militia. If your budget allows, try to go to the range and practice.

Wild Brooklyn melee erupts as NYPD arrests Muslim teen for allegedly taunting Jewish subway rider

Via Billy

Stephan Stowe, 17, was charged with harassment after telling Jewish rider ‘They should have killed all of you.’ Police also wrestled a woman to the ground and arrested her after angry onlookers swarmed the station's platform, snapping video and yelling at cops during the incident.

The attempted arrest of an allegedly hate-mongering teen aboard a Brooklyn subway quickly turned into a wild showdown between cops and a roiled mob, according to sources and video obtained by the Daily News. The melee began when suspect Stephan Stowe, 17, and a group of eight friends approached a Jewish man wearing a yarmulke aboard a Brooklyn-bound 3 train just before 3 p.m.

Monday, police sources said Wednesday. "Assalamu Alaikum," Stowe said to the man, using a common greeting among Muslims that means, "Peace be with you," court documents allege. When the man ignored the greeting, Stowe allegedly became combative. "You think you're better than me?" the teen allegedly said. "We are cousins."

"No we’re not," The man shot back, and told Stowe to leave him alone. The suspect then started hurling ethnic slurs and called the man disrespectful, according to court papers.

Gun Control Bill Gets Pulled!

You can breathe a sign of relief now.

“The Gun Owners of America chimed in, attacking Republican senators who showed any interest in compromise, arguing that a national gun registry would arise from the bill.” -The New York Times, April 17, 2013

You guys were amazing! Your efforts have accomplished what, four months ago, many in Washington thought was impossible: a total and complete victory (for now) against President Obama’s anti-gun agenda.

But let's face it. We're never going to be able to let our guard down entirely, until the 113th Congress adjourns in December, 2014.

Senator Harry Reid has now pulled the gun bill from the floor. And it appears he would have to move to proceed in order to bring it up again - something that would require 60 votes to do so.

Moreover, if Obama tries to make another run at gun control, pro-gun senators are prepared to go on the offensive and offer amendments to back Harry Reid down. These provisions would include pro-gun amendments that:
  • Cut Justice Department funds for states with gun confiscation and registration (i.e., New York, Connecticut, Maryland);
  • Take another run at passing the Thune-Cornyn-Vitter national concealed carry reciprocity amendment;
  • Provide that no veteran can lose any constitutional right without a court order.
So it's time to celebrate your enormous victory and recognize those heroes who played a part.

1) First of all, there’s you! The Nutty Lefties now fear you guys more than any group in America. Give yourself a pat on the back for all your hard work. It has been noticed by many on Capitol Hill and even by the anti-gun media.

Just consider some of the recent headlines:
  • “Democrats blame ‘Gun Owners of America’ for gun control setback,” - TPM, April 8, 2013.
  • “Gun Owners of America out-hardlines the NRA” - Salon, April 4, 2013.
  • “Upstart group [GOA] pushes harder than the NRA,” - New York Times, April 3, 2013.

And then there’s what anti-gun Senators are saying:

  • “Schumer’s spokesman Brian Fallon took note of Gun Owners of America’s role in the debate, tweeting a link to the Times profile and saying the group ‘is making a deal on even background checks extremely hard.’” - TPM, April 8, 2013
  • “Democratic staffers likewise tell the paper [Slate] that other Republicans they’ve approached to co-sponsor a background check bill were quick to point to the GOA as the most obvious reason not to.” - Slate, April 4, 2013
2) Senators Rand Paul (KY), Ted Cruz (TX) and Mike Lee (UT)--and their entire staffs - deserve your thanks.

These three Senators led the filibuster and forced Obama & Co. to expend much capital in simply getting Reid’s gun control bill to the floor.

Honorable mention also goes to Senators John Cornyn (TX) and John Thune (SD) and their offices. While Cornyn is a key player on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Thune is the leader of the Second Amendment Task Force in the Senate. Both offices provided invaluable support in strategizing and marshaling the opposition to Reid’s gun control efforts.

Finally, we should not forget Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who adopted a very sound strategy in combating Reid’s gun control bill. Nor should we forget the words of the Declaration of Independence and our “firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence” for His defense of our rights.

3) The gun lobby that represents you. GOA and NRA stood together in opposition to gun control. Our presence was even able to pull another gun organization onto the right side - the one that announced it was originally supporting the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer provision. As we alluded to in a previous alert, that group later renounced its initial support.

4) The Senators who both supported the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster and opposed the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer provision.

Realize that many of these Senators who voted right were under INTENSE PRESSURE to vote wrong. GOA has heard of intense debates that occurred in some of the offices that voted right.

And yesterday, the Brady Campaign began using its platform on MSNBC to urge gun banners to call their Senators and hammer those who voted for the Second Amendment.

So it is imperative for us to not forget those who voted right!

With that in mind, we are listing below the Senators who voted correctly on the TWO MOST IMPORTANT VOTES: the vote AGAINST the motion to proceed on S. 649 on April 11 and AGAINST the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer amendmend on April 17.

There are 31 Senators who voted right on BOTH of these key votes, and this is who they are:
John Barrasso (R-WY) Mark Begich (D-AK)
Roy Blunt (R-MO) John Boozman (R-AR)
Dan Coats (R-IN) Thad Cochran (R-MS)
John Cornyn (R-TX) Mike Crapo (R-ID)
Ted Cruz (R-TX) Mike Enzi (R-WY)
Deb Fischer (R-NE) Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
Orrin Hatch (R-UT) Jim Inhofe (R-OK)
Mike Johanns (R-NE) Tim Johnson (R-WI)
Mike Lee (R-UT) Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
Jerry Moran (R-KS) Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Rand Paul (R-KY) Rob Portman (R-OH)
Mark Pryor (D-AR) James Risch (R-ID)
Pat Roberts (R-KS) Marco Rubio (R-FL)
Tim Scott (R-SC) Jeff Sessions (R-AL)
Richard Shelby (R-AL) John Thune (R-SD)
David Vitter (R-LA)
ACTION: Contact the Senators above and thank them for their pro-gun votes. If your Senator is not listed above, then he or she needs to be hammered.

And you might point out the following irony to those Senators who voted wrong: During a week when the Senate voted to infringe upon the rights of gun owners, the residents in Boston were cowering in fear and locked in their homes hoping that one of the two bombers didn’t go into their homes and take them hostage while they’re hiding from the cops. Gun control does not make us safer and does not stop bad guys from acquiring dangerous weapons.

How they voted. You can go to the links below, to see how your Senators voted on the most important issues:

(1) Votes where GOA scored NO as the correct position - the motion to proceed to S. 649 (the filibuster vote), the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer gun owner registry, the Feinstein gun ban, and the Lautenberg magazine limitation; and,

(2) Votes where GOA scored YES as the correct position: the Cornyn-Vitter-Thune concealed carry reciprocity amendment, the Burr provision to protect veterans’ gun rights, and the Barrasso language cutting off funds to states that release gun owners’ names.

Hammond is also firing back at President Obama for suggesting that the gun lobby blatantly lied to lawmakers and the public about Manchin-Toomey leading to a national gun registry.

“That’s called projection in psychological terms. That means he accuses other people of being guilty of what is, in fact, his own moral deficiencies,” Hammond said. “This group of people traveling with Barack Obama were up in Hartford, Conn., the day before, smiling and waving as Gov. (Dan) Malloy signed into law a statewide gun registry and a statewide gun ban which came only precipitously short of confiscation.

So having endorsed and loved and claimed victory over gun registration and gun confiscation, they then fly down to Washington, D.C., and the next day they say, ‘Oh, no one is talking about confiscation and registration.’ I mean, do they think we’re stupid?”

FBI Interviewed Boston Bombing Suspect in 2011

The FBI and other law enforcement agencies were aware of at least one of the Boston terror suspects for several years, and even failed to deport him after a domestic violence conviction in 2009.

The FBI in 2011 interviewed one of the brothers suspected in the deadly Boston Marathon bombings, a disclosure that raises questions about whether the government missed potential warning signs about the men's behavior.

The brothers had not been under surveillance as possible militants, U.S. government officials said. But the FBI said in a statement on Friday that in 2011 it interviewed Tamerlan at the request of a foreign government, which it did not identify.

"The request stated that it was based on information that he was a follower of radical Islam and a strong believer, and that he had changed drastically since 2010 as he prepared to leave the United States for travel to the country's region to join unspecified underground groups," the FBI statement said.

OPEN SOURCE WARFARE never goes away

VERBATIM

Boston is a reminder that:  Open source warfare doesn't ever go away.

It can be revived with a terrible suddenness, as we saw at the Boston Marathon.

The grievances and motivations  for attacks never die.  They can always find a corner of the Web to fester and grow, in groups too tiny to ever control.

The information needed to conduct attacks will always be available, and with each round of incidents, the information improves through testing.

Due to excessive industrial urbanization, the targets both in terms of people and infrastructure are thick on the ground.

Any single attack has the potential to ignite a series of additional attacks by other groups with similar, but different, motives.

Due to technological and behavioral factors, the quality of the attacks can better very quickly once a a conflict ignites.  Weeks can yield significant progress instead of years.

An entire city on lockdown for ONE Muslim terrorist? No, I ain't kidding, friends.  Have we had a declaration of martial law?  Not that I have heard.  Is this the Soviet Union?  Nazi Germany?  Israel, where your enemies are 9 miles away lobbing rockets at you?

No.  This is America: 2013.

This is what happens when Americans become disarmed cowards, dependent on the police for their protection, despite numerous Supreme Court rulings that police do not have a duty to protect individuals.

Behold, the lily-livered descendants of Captain John Parker and his citizen army, letting the jack-booted thugs invade their homes and imprison them there.

FOR MY CHILDREN: Wayne County, NC 1861-1865

[Note: This was written by Mrs. Lane so that her children's children would
have some idea of their turmoil during the Civil War. This was found in
the attic of an old house near Bentonville, North Carolina, many, many
years ago. The gentleman who purchased the house gave it to me, J.C.
Knowles, Jr., May 1989]

A story giving some of the experiences of the War of 1861-1865 and of the
times when Sherman fought the last battle of the War at Bentonville, North
Carolina, and of the privations of those who lived along the line of its
march in Wayne County, North Carolina.

I am a daughter of Mr. William D. Cobb and wife, Ann Collier. My father
lived on his plantation nine miles from Goldsboro, Wayne County, on the
south side of the Neuse River. He was a stock farmer and did not raise
cotton until the war began in 1861. All southern farmers then raised
cotton to help clothe the Confederate soldiers. We did not approve of
seccession, but wanted to fight for States Rights under the flag which
our fathers had fought for.

I was born and reared on the plantation. Before the war, the planters
employed governesses for their children, while young. Then they were sent
to preparatory schools before entering college. My sister and I were sent
to the Misses Nash and Kellock's Preparatory School in Hillsborough,
Orange County, in 1860, and we were there when North Carolina seceded
from the Union, and we helped with some of the other school girls, to
raise the first Confederate Flag over the Court House. North Carolina
seceded May 20th, 1861,

My father gave four sons to the Confederate service. They were among
the first to volunteer when Governor Ellis called for volunteers to defend
the State. My brothers, Col. John P. Cobb, Capt. Bryan W. Cobb, and Dr.
William H.H. Cobb, all volunteered as privates, but were made officers in
the 2nd Regiment of North Carolina State Troops. My brother, Dr. William
H.H. Cobb graduated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania just in time to get home
and volunteer. At first he was in the 2nd Regiment, but was later
transferred to the 4th Regiment as Assistant Surgeon. My fourth brother,
Rev. Needham B. Cobb was Chaplain of the 4th Regiment; all were first sent
to Fort Steel for a few days, then to Virginia, and fought under Lee. My
brother Needham's health failed the latter part of the war, and he moved
with his family to Raleigh.

After the death of Colonel Charles Yen, (First Colonel of the 2nd
Regiment), my brother John was promoted for bravery on the battlefield, from
Captain of Company H to Colonel, and brother Bryan W. Cobb was then made
Captain. My brothers Dr. W.H.H. Cobb and Capt. Bryan W. Cobb fought through
the war and surrendered with Lee at Appomattox. My brother, Col. John Cobb
lost a leg in the Battle of Winchester, Virginia, September 19th, 1864, was
taken prisoner and confined in Fort McHenry until Lee surrendered.

New Bern fell into the hands of the Yankees, March 21, 1862. My father
soon moved his family to a farm four miles from Bentonville (where the last
battle of the war was fought 1865). Just after he moved, General Burnside
came from New Bern on a march for Goldsboro, passing our place, but our
forces had burned the bridge at Spring Bank on Neuse River, six miles from
Goldsboro; after being repulsed by our troops, with his army, returned to
New Bern.

After a short time my father moved back to his home, and left his
daughter, Mrs. Nathan B. Whitfield living there. My father and her husband
were members of the Home Guard. After the Battle of Bentonville, Sherman
marched to Goldsboro, passing, and resting one night on my father's
plantation. The day before Sherman reached our home, my father called his
slaves together and said to them, "in a few days you will be free; Sherman
will be here and destroy everything; the crop is already planted; he cannot
destroy that. We have lived together in peace, as you know; the land, seed,
and fertilizer are mine; if you stay and work the crop, you can gather it in
two portions; you then select a man and I will select one and these men
shall say which portion I am to have." Our negroes remained on the place and
finished the crop.

Sherman had given orders to his troops when he reached Fayetteville to
destroy all property, private and public, which would be of any use to the
enemy; that he was going to wind up the war. The order is recorded in the
Congressional Records of the United States in Washington, D.C. His army
carried out his instructions along his line of march. They destroyed our
household furniture, leaving the bed on which my sick mother lay, and a
large dining table and a few chairs, which were once the property of a
Colonial Governor of North Carolina (Governor Tryon) whose furniture was
confiscated and sold at auction in New Bern, after the Revolutionary War,
and the dining room suite was bought by my grandfather, John Cobb, of
Kinston, North Carolina.

This table and chairs were left for Sherman and his officers to use while
they rested on our plantation. His army destroyed literally every useful
thing, filling all the wells on the place with dead hogs, shooting the cows
and all other living things, leaving what they did not want lying on the
ground. They rolled all the barrels filled with the year's supply of molasses
into the front hall, burst in the heads, and let the molasses run on the
floor, after which they brought quantities of rice, oats, peas, meal, etc,
and poured all of this on the molasses; then went up stairs, cut the feather
beds and shook the feathers down on it, and then ran horses over it, through
the house. They broke out all the window panes, broke doors and window blinds,
cut up the carpets and made saddle blankets for their horses. They killed
every living thing on the place, except the rats and dogs and carried off all
the remaining years supply of food stuff.

My parents and the negroes lived a few days on the dead fowls. The Yankees
moved my mother's maid with her family into the room adjoining my mother's
bedroom thinking they would be humiliated living in the house with their
former slaves. These negroes proved a blessing; they cooked for the Yankees
and thus got food for my parents, as long as the army was passing. Of course
the dead fowls soon got beyond being useful for food. So after the main
army passed, the stragglers who followed put a rope around my father's neck
and were going to hang him, but did not, as the negro men interfered and
drove them off. My sister, with her two children, who were then living on
the farm near Bentonville, was left alone with her slaves, while her
husband was with the Home Guards. No one ever expected Sherman to reach
North Carolina by way of Bentonville, but were looking for the Yankees to
come from New Bern, Bentonville being the last battle of the war, Sherman
made a triumphant march to Orange County, and the last remnant of General
Johnson's army of Confederate Soldiers surrendered to him in April 1865.

Our Government had a gunboat stationed at Kinston and trees all along
the banks of the Neuse River below the town of New Bern had been cut and
thrown in the river, thus keeping the river free from Yankee boats which
might come if New Bern fell. That is why Burnside came by land instead of
by boats. Also General Schofield and his army rested on our place while on
their way to Goldsboro.

In 1864 my sister and I were day scholars at St. Mary's, Raleigh, but
after Richmond fell we quit school and went in the hospitals as nurses. All
the wounded from Richmond and Petersburg were brought to Raleigh, and later
from Bentonville. Every available place was filled with wounded soldiers:
school buildings, fair grounds and private houses. The ladies of Louisburg
had sent a car load of cooked provisions to my brother Rev. N.B. Cobb, to
be distributed to the retreating army of General Johnson.

My parents also had sent a quantity of cooked food before Sherman came to
our home, to be given to the wounded men in Raleigh. My brother called some
of the Raleigh ladies to help distribute the food. Negro servants were
stationed on the side walks along Fayetteville Street, who filled baskets
for the ladies who stood on each side of the retreating army. Poor, ragged
(bare-footed many of them), worn and weary Boys in Gray. The City Officials
went down to meet Sherman the day before and surrendered the City and asked
protection for the people and property.

Wheeler's Calvary of the Confederate Army passed through the City at night,
next morning, Sherman came marching triumphant up Fayetteville Street, at
the head of his army. Several of Wheeler's men had turned back, to fire the
depot in which was stored all the remaining ammunition of the Confederacy,
and food supplies were piled around the depot. One of the men rode down the
street and fired on Sherman, turning down another street, and through
several other streets before he was captured near St. Mary's school. Sherman
wanted to hang him in Capitol Square but the city officials prevailed on him
not to do so. He was killed near St. Mary's. When the bomb shells in the
burning depot began to burst, the citizens thought Sherman was waging war on
the City. One twelve year old white girl was killed by the bursting bombs.
Guards were placed at every man's door to prevent angry soldiers from
entering private homes.

As soon as a woman was permitted to ride the train, I went with my uncle,
Col. George Collier and his wife, back to my old home, and to my distressed
parents. After reaching Goldsboro my uncle had to take the oath of
allegiance to the U.S. Government before we were furnished a ragged topped
ambulance, and two old blind cast-off army horses and a negro driver.
We had to cross Neuse River on a pontoon bridge, the real bridge having been
burned by our soldiers on their retreat. This bridge was made of planks
placed cross-wise on two lines of small boats (or canoes).

A regiment of negro soldiers was stationed there, with white officers.
The Colonel placed a line of soldiers on each side of the bridge, and with
two more leading the horses, we got in and drove across the bounding bridge
in a pouring rain. He had told us to get out before starting across, as the
blind horse might turn off and plunge in the river. When we reached home,
I found my mother still sick in bed, with her faithful servants waiting on
her. My parents and the negroes were then drawing rations from the
Commissary in Goldsboro, the negroes walking nine miles bringing their
portions, and my parents also, in bags on their backs.

On the plantation was a large Mulberry orchard, planted for the hogs.
These berries were ripe when I came home. There was a negro regiment
stationed near the house and the white Colonel told my little brother if he
would gather and deliver the berries to his soldiers, they would pay him
$2 per gallon.

The Yankees had destroyed ail the vessels on the place and we picked up tin
cans (some large and some small) on the camp ground, which Sherman's army
had left, and he and the negroes gathered and delivered many gallons of
berries and came back with empty cans and pockets full of greenback money
and feeling happy over the prospect of buying better food from somewhere.

My brothers came home with only the clothes on their backs. We borrowed
beds etc. from neighbors who did not live along the line of march, and when my
brothers and father changed their underclothes, they went to bed and the negro
women took their clothes to the branch one-fourth mile from the house, where
we were all forced to get drinking water, bringing it that distance in cans.

After the Battle of Bentonville my sister was left without food or protection.
An officer in blue advised her to take her two children and the two negro women
with her, and leave, as he could not protect her, but not get separated from
the two negroes. She left with them, walking four miles in the woods, just far
enough from the marching Yankee army not to be lost of discovered by them; she
reached a neighbor, widow Cogdel, whose son, a Confederate soldier had been
wounded, and was lying delirious with fever. The Yankees had not been there,
and Mrs. Cogdel was having dinner cooked for sister and the children when a
squad of Yankees, on horses, rode up, taking her horses, and firing the house
in several places.

My sister, Mrs. Cogdel, her daughter and the servants carried her son out on
a bed, to a field near the house, and there saw the house burn down. Just after
sunset, an officer in blue rode up and asked what they were doing there. My
sister replied, "To starve and die." After a few minutes he said, "My God, I
have a wife and little ones at home," and dashing off soon returned with an
ambulance and took them six miles further to a Mr. McCullen's where the
Yankees had been, but had not burned the house. There they spent the night.

The next morning Mr. McCullen found a cart wheel, and a buggy wheel and an
axle which the Yankees failed to cut or burn with other things, and with a few
pieces of plank, fixed a conveyance for them to ride in. She then went ten
miles to her mother-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Whitfield.

The Yankees had not been there, but while she was giving her experiences
quite a lot of them came. She did not live on the line of march, but these
men were stragglers from Sherman's Army which had passed on their way to
Goldsboro the day before. The old grandmother, 84 years old, lived with her
daughter and grand-daughter whose sons were in Lee's Army. The deaf old woman
had fallen a month before and was in bed with a broken hip. The Yankees
ordered her to get up, which she could not do, then one took her by the feet
and one took her shoulders, and tossed her across the room, going out,
locking the door, bidding none to go out or to come in. It was cool spring
weather and a fire was burning; as night came the fire gave light as long as
it lasted. The lamps and candles had been taken out before the Yankees came,
to be trimmed and washed.

As the fire grew low, the old lady begged not to let the light go out.
There was a very large box of paper patterns, used to cut the darkies clothes,
in the closet, which my sisters and mother-in-law cut in strips, and
one by one was held burning by the old lady's bed. The paper lasted till
daybreak. The Yankees destroyed almost everything except what was in their
room and a small quantity of provisions. My sister and the two negroes
stayed a few days and then went to my parents. They were riding army horses,
bareback, the make-shift vehicle having been destroyed by the last group of
stragglers. These were horses which Sherman had deserted when he replenished
his army with the horses of the planters along the line.

When she reached home she found devastation and sickness everywhere and
the whole air was reeking with dead animals. My father died the following
October 20th. 1865 after the crop was gathered. My mother sold a farm in
Tennessee, which enabled us to live more comfortably.

Before the negro regiment stationed on our place was disbanded, one of the
officers found stored in a barn on the river about four miles from the house,
a small quantity of corn which the Yankees had not taken away. He had the
corn (a cart load of it) brought up to the house and stored in a bath room
at the end of the back hall, upstairs. He had no waterworks or big bath tubs,
but did have the nice shower bath closets. The back stairs ran up in this hall,
and the windows being broken there was no way to keep the hungry starving rats
out, and at night they went up the stairs by the hundreds.

We would arm ourselves with sticks and beat among them, some nights getting
about a peck, and a hand full of tails, and some nights after, we would get
the bob-tailed rats. The corn proved quite a help in the way of food. We would
boil it in lye made from oak ashes, until the husk would come off, then soak
it in clear water until all the lye was out of it; then we would cook it until
soft and fry it in some of the fat white meat we drew from the Government.
This varied our diet of hard tack, fat meat, brown sugar and bad coffee.

We did not drink coffee during the war. My father had an order for coffee
and sewing thread, on our blockade steamer whenever she went from Wilmington.
The coffee was sent to the boys in the army, and the thread was used on the
sewing machine to make their clothes. Our coffee was made of dried sweet
potatoes, rye wheat and barley, all parched brown and ground together, putting
some of it in a little bag, we would drop it in the coffee pot of hot water
and let it boil ten minutes.

We made all sorts of things during the war. Drugs were hard to get for the
hospitals and all kinds of herbs, barks and roots were dried and sent to the
hospitals. Large beds of lettuce were planted and let grow a tall stalk, and
early in the morning some one would go out with a needle and slit the stalks
in several places; the milk would run out and harden on the stalk, and at
sunset some one would go with a little knife and piece of paper and collect
the hardened drops. This was used as opium; also rose leaves were dried and
sent with drugs.

My mother died December 1867. After her death my brother Col. John P. Cobb
and his family lived at the old home until he was elected County Court Clerk
and moved with his family to Goldsboro and several years later went to
Florida.

After my mother's death, her land was divided among her children and most
of it rented out. Later, after my brother moved to Goldsboro, none of us
wanted to live there, and so sold our portions of the land, most of it to
our white neighbors, and a small portion to some of our former slaves, who
paid for it in yearly installments of cotton until paid for. I lived with my
brother John at the old home, until I was married to Lieutenant William Penn
Lane, son of Rev. William K. Lane and wife Penelope Burford, who lived on
their plantation near Goldsboro, their house later being burned by Sherman.
My husband left the University of North Carolina and joined the 67th Regiment
of North Carolina Calvary. Col. John D. Whitford was colonel of the regiment.
He was in service in eastern North Carolina.

In the Battle of Cobb's Hill, April 1865, near Kinston, he was one of seven
men left of his Company; the others were killed or wounded. His picture, also
my brothers' pictures, are in "Clarks History of North Carolina State Troops
of the Confederacy". These pictures were taken and left with their parents,
when they marched away to fight for their liberty. This is true history.

An enterprising Yankee came south after the war and patented our home-made
War Coffee, and called it Postum, and later on reduced the same to a powder
and called it Instant Postum which requires no bag or boiling.

After passing through the horrors of war, we were subjected to the terrible
time of the Reconstruction days and bayonet rule of General Denby, of the
U.S.A. Government. At the first election after the war closed, the ignorant
negroes of the South were given the privilege of voting. There being so many
more negroes in the South than white men and they being instigated (by
Yankees, who remained in the South) to all kinds of lawlessness, no one's life
was safe, and a woman dared not leave her yard without a pistol for protection.
This was when the order of the Klu Klux Klan was organized and every decent
white man became a member. Oh! The horrors of Reconstruction Days!

Had the intent been to save the fraternal Union of the Founders and re-establish friendly ties between the people of the various States, looting, raping and pillaging the South made this quite impossible. Once the federal agent made war upon Americans, it was no longer a glorious Union and malice was directed against helpless old men, women and children.

Not Winning the Hearts and Minds of Tarheels:
“[T]he “corn-crib” and “fodder-stack” commandoes could look back upon a plentiful harvest between Fayetteville and Goldsboro. Meat and meal had been found in abundance. So skillfully had the “bummers” covered this region that the rooster no longer crowed in the morning because he no longer existed. Had the rooster escaped with his life, there would have been no fence rail for him to stand on.

[Northern General J.D. Morgan said] “I have some men in my command…who have mistaken the name and meaning of the term foragers, and have become under that name highwaymen, with all of their cruelty and ferocity and none of their courage; their victims are usually old men, women and children, and Negroes whom the rob and maltreat without mercy, firing dwelling and outhouses even when filled with grain…These men are a disgrace to the name of soldier and the country…”
--------
Elizabeth Collier, an eighteen year-old girl of Everittsville, entered in her diary:
“On Monday morning, the 20th [March], the first foraging party made their appearance at Everittsville. They asked for flour and seeing we were disposed not to give it, made a rush in the house and took it himself---the cowardly creature even pointed his gun at us – helpless women. Looking out, we soon saw that poor little Everittsville was filled with Yankees and they were plundering the houses….everything outside was destroyed – all provisions taken – fences knocked down – horse, cows, carriages, and buggies stolen, and everything else the witches could lay their hands on – even to the servants clothes.”
