Vandals tag Columbus statue with 'Black Lives Matter'
Via Billy
Vandals defaced an iconic statue of Christopher Columbus in Boston's North End by covering it in red paint and tagging it with the phrase, "Black Lives Matter."
The paint has since been removed, but a lot of questions and frustration has been left behind.
"Why here? It just seems so out of place," Jeanne Brady, of the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park, said.
There was surprise and sadness to find the Columbus statue covered in paint and tagged with the phrase "Black Lives Matter."

Securing the Political Obedience of Freedmen
South Carolina’s first reconstruction governor was former Northern General Robert K. Scott, who accomplished a tripling of the State debt through corruption and fraudulent bonds; his legislature voted itself a full-time saloon and restaurant at taxpayer expense. Scott’s successor, former Northern army officer Daniel H. Chamberlain was determined “to make his elected position pay,” though feeble attempts were made toward reform and Republican patronage which enraged black Republicans expecting favors for votes delivered.
Bernhard Thuersam, www.Circa1865.com
Securing the Political Obedience of Freedmen
“There is ample evidence of both black domination and the exercise of controls over black leadership by the white [Republican] leadership. South Carolina was unique among the reconstructed States in that blacks constituted about 60 percent of the population. This population advantage was converted into a substantial numerical advantage in the legislature, where Negroes held a two-to-one majority in the lower house and a clear majority on joint ballot of House and Senate throughout the nine-year period of Reconstruction.
During this same period they held the office of secretary of state (from 1868 t0 1877), lieutenant-governor and adjutant-general (after 1870), secretary of treasury, Speaker of the House, and president pro tem of the Senate (after 1872).
On the other hand, Negroes never held the governorship, the office of US senator, any of the eight circuit judgeships, the offices of comptroller general, attorney general, superintendent of education, or more than one of the three positions on the State supreme court.
Furthermore, there were recorded instances of black officeholders serving as mere pawns of shrewder white [Republican] colleagues. The northern-born county treasurer of Colleton County boasted to Governor [Robert K.] Scott that he “could control every colored man’s vote in St. Paul’s Parish and St. Bartholomew Parish.” The Negro treasurer of Orangeburg County found himself in jail charged with malfeasance in office, while the white mentor who had gotten him the appointment and directed his peculations went free.
On another occasion it was alleged that the white [Republican] political boss of Colleton County engineered the removal from the county auditor’s position of a well-educated Negro political enemy, replacing him with another Negro who was illiterate. The latter was expected to be auditor in name only, while another white crony performed the duties of office.
[The] reactions of historians to [traditional images of racial relationships often betray] more emotion than analysis . . . [WEB] DuBois, for example, accepted the idea of the essential powerlessness of blacks in South Carolina’s Reconstruction government in order to minimize the culpability of blacks for the corruption of that government, even though [this actually] contradicts his thesis of black labor’s control of the government.
However, the key advantage of the white Republicans probably lay in their presumed or real contacts in the North which enabled them to promise and sometimes deliver funds, patronage or protection. White Northerners often passed themselves off as representing the “powers at Washington” in order to secure the political obedience of the Negroes, according to [carpetbagger] ex-Governor [Daniel H.] Chamberlain.
Just after the passage of the Fourteenth Amendment, a committee of South Carolina’s Negro political leaders made a secret trip to Washington to confer with Thaddeus Stevens and Charles Sumner about the formation of a political organization.
But many white Republicans continued to advocate efforts to attract native whites into the Republican party and the appointment of northern whites to sensitive positions. This policy reflected their lack of confidence in black officeholders . . . “There is not enough virtue and intelligence among the Blacks to conduct the government in such a way as will promote peace and prosperity” [wrote one Republican].
In other instances, white Republican officeholders urged the governor to replace with whites those black colleagues whom they considered “un-businesslike” or incompetent.”

Hillary Clinton May Have Committed Treason In Benghazi By Facilitating Weapons Sales To Rebels Who Killed Americans
Via avordvet
While Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, she supported a covert exchange of weapons to Libyan rebels, some of whom then conducted the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, according to federal court documents obtained by Fox News.
Career CIA officer David Manners offered sworn testimony to the District Court of Arizona on May 5, 2015, claiming, "It was then, and remains now, my opinion that the United States did participate, directly or indirectly, in the supply of weapons to the Libyan Transitional National Council (TNC)."
The Democratic presidential front-runner even suggested the idea in a recently disclosed secret email to long-time confidant Sidney Blumenthal. Dated April 8, 2011, Clinton wrote, "Fyi. The idea of using private security experts to arm the opposition should be considered," reported the New York Post.

Birmingham board votes to remove Confederate monument from Linn Park
Via Billy
The Birmingham Parks and Recreation Board has taken the first step to remove a Confederate monument from Linn Park.
The board voted to remove the monument during a meeting on Wednesday.
Members also agreed to get the city's legal deparmtent to research any legal impediment in moving the monument.
The monument was placed in Linn Park in 1905 by the Pelham Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
That group does not exist any more, so the board said it will contact five other chapters in Birmingham to see if they will assume the cost and resposibility of moving the monument.
Board member and former Birmingham mayor Benard Kincaid said he wants to be respectful of history, but in light of the church shootings in Charleston, South Carolina he does not believe a Confederate monument should be in a city park in Birmingham.

IDF Appoints Special Team to Plan Strike on Iran
Via Iver
As world powers and Iran reach a deadline Tuesday - which may be extended - for talks on the Islamic regime's nuclear program, Israel is taking steps to prepare for a military strike on Tehran's nuclear facilities so as to defend itself from the impending threat.
Iran has refused to allow inspections of its covert nuclear sites and declared it will use advanced centrifuges as soon as a deal is met, meaning the leading state sponsor of terrorism could potentially obtain a nuclear arsenal within weeks, all while getting billions of dollars in sanctions relief through a nuclear deal.
The Hebrew-language Walla! reported Tuesday that it has learned from a foreign source that IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot has appointed Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Yair Golan to head a special team tasked with examining the military options against Iran.
The team would explore what kind of striking options are available to Israel after a deal with Iran is signed.
By appointing such a senior IDF official to the team, it is estimated that Israel is considering the signing of a deal to be a game changer which would require a serious reevaluation of the regional situation, and likely necessitate military action against Iran.

Flag of Contention
Via LH
In the wake of the Charleston, South
Carolina Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church shootings on June
18, 2015, Governor Nikki Haley called for the removal of the Confederate
Battle Flag from the State capital’s flagpole. Regrettably, even if her
call for action is successful, it would do no more to change the
reasons behind the hatred that drives one human to kill others than
legislation to ban the “N” word would go towards closing the
inaccurately named “racial” divide.
Many people
look at the behavior of the rioters in Ferguson, Missouri in August,
2014 and in Baltimore, Maryland in April, 2015 and make excuses for them
such as, “They are angry and have no other way of expressing their
anger.” But, the same people look at the illicit behavior of white
supremacists and say, “They are bigots and they have no excuse.”
In
their sentiments towards the white supremacists, they are absolutely
correct, but they need to apply the same standard equally to people of
every skin color. Bad behavior is bad behavior no matter who does it or
for what reason it is done.
Despite the unequal application of a
standard, there is another relevant point one can extract from these
observations. When people are unjustly treated and when they have no
viable means to address their grievances, they often turn to hatred and
violence as an outlet.
The United States has much to atone for
in its history and two of the most divisive matters in need of atonement
are the treatment of African Americans in our nation, especially after
the institution of slavery ended, and Lincoln’s War against the South
which is commonly and inaccurately known as the “Civil War”. These two
breaches of justice are closely related, but not as most people in
America today believe they are.

UPDATE: A Parody: Facebook to Ban Posts Containing the Confederate Flag
Via LH
Facebook, the preeminent global social media service, has bowed to pressure and will begin banning posts containing the Confederate flag.
The new ban, which some commenters have called “Confederate Flagging”, will go into effect soon after the July 4 holiday. Multiple violations will result in account suspensions.
Users who send or receive a post containing the flag or its imagery in any form will receive the following notification: “Content deemed offensive to one or more groups of individuals is blocked from public view. This content may include images or links to images that “depict, display, or promote the design and/or content of the Confederate flag in any manner.”
All monitoring and blocking will be controlled by Facebook.
The online community immediately reacted with a pushback explosion. Many condemned the media giant for bowing to political and social pressure, while others accused Facebook of imposing censorship and taking away free speech and expression:
Lets post away until we are banned, as if we'd lose much. :)

Reverend Manning on the warpath again. :) For quite a while I felt I had something in common with him, but dismissed it as he was from New York. Then I found out that he was raised in Red Springs, NC where my mother went to Flora Macdonald College.
Reverend James David Manning opens by saying, “There are men that are ready right now to defend the nation against the liberals in the north.” He says, “I want this to be clear, they are men, you may call them Confederates, you may call them southerners, you can call them what you choose…They are ready to defend this nation. Not only to defend their own home, their own states, that’s not just their cause.”
He continues, “They’re not only ready to defend their way of life, to defend their children from having to go to public schools where their children are taught that sodomy is right, that man with man is good and girl with girl is good, and Bruce Jenner becomes the order of the day. They’re not going to let you do that.”

'Dukes of Hazzard' episodes cut from TV Land's schedule

I cut back my DISH to the minimum which is fine since we rarely use it, but noticed that NEWSMAX has a show now. So far, each one has been non-PC.
Fans of "The Dukes of Hazzard" will have to find a new way to enjoy the 1970s sitcom set in Georgia.
TV Land has announced they have pulled all reruns of the show following Bo and Luke Duke off the air, according to Entertainment Weekly. While a representative did not confirm their reasoning for removing the series, it's likely due to the controversy surrounding the Confederate flag, which appears on the Dukes' 1969 Dodge Charger.

ACLU: ‘We Can No Longer Support Federal Religious Freedom Law’
Via comment by Shane on The Coming Persecution… What’s a patriot to do?
They only help out the commies anyway, so I don't think it makes much difference.
In an op-ed at the Washington Post, deputy legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Louise Melling writes that the organization will no longer defend the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).
With the militant LGBT rainbow flag incorporated into a map of the United States on its website, the ACLU — whose stated mission was once “to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States” — now states that while the organization supported the RFRA when it was passed, “we can no longer support the law in its current form” because “it is now often used as a sword to discriminate against women, gay and transgender people and others.”
