Donald Trump targets globalization and free trade as job-killers

While attacking Hillary Clinton and other career politicians, Donald Trump took aim Tuesday at two other prominent election targets: globalization and free trade.

"Globalization has made the financial elite who donate to politicians very, very wealthy ... but it has left millions of our workers with nothing but poverty and heartache," Trump told supporters during a prepared speech targeting free trade in a nearly-shuttered former steel town in Pennsylvania.

In a speech devoted to what he called "How To Make America Wealthy Again," Trump offered a series of familiar plans designed to deal with what he called "failed trade policies" — including rejection of the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) with Pacific Rim nations and re-negotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with Canada and Mexico, withdrawing from it if necessary.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee also said he would pursue bilateral trade agreements rather than multi-national deals like TPP and NAFTA.

Bridget M. Grimes: Born 1849 Galway, Ireland Died March 23, 1863 Richmond City, Virginia CSA

 

On March 13, 1863, Bridget M. Grimes was injured in the explosion at the Confederate Laboratory located on Brown's Island in Richmond Virginia. The confusion on that day and the days that followed led to various reported numbers of the dead and wounded. Bridget was reported as one of the injured in three Richmond newspaper publications and perished days later from her wounds. The written history of this event and the memorial tributes for these young girls and boys over the last one hundred and fifty one years have forgotten Bridget from her rightful place in Virginia, Irish and Confederate history.

Is Pluralism Enough?

For Burckhardt, the Renaissance (for the first time a distinct period in history) became the moment of cultural liberation, the breakthrough into the modern age of humanism, individualism, and secularism.  . . .

At the heart of this breakthrough was the Renaissance’s reflection on the human condition.

Traditional Christianity, as I have noted in earlier posts, contained within it an exalted view of the human being, made in God’s image and made for a relationship of immediate and eternal communion with God. In eastern Christendom Orthodox Christianity had maintained this anthropological optimism about man, but in the centuries that followed the Great Schism of 1054 a more pessimistic view of man had been established in the west. By the time Petrarch appeared in fourteenth-century Italy, this pessimism was great indeed. Soon it would be challenged directly by leading Renaissance humanists such as Giannozzo Manetti (d. 1459). His On the Dignity of Man boldly confronted one of the middle ages most widely published and influential anthropological treatises, Pope Innocent III’s The Misery of the Human Condition. Even more famously, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (d. 1494) issued his own On the Dignity of Man as a corrective to the pessimistic anthropology that had come to choke the culture of western Christendom.

Burckhardt himself regarded the “rediscovery” of human dignity to be the central achievement of the Renaissance, which alone was sufficient “to fill us with everlasting thankfulness.”

My last content post was on June 11: ‘Training, and how it relates to the Four Stages of Competence.‘ Since then I have been up at site for 10 days on a private class, and doing various admin and site cleanup and improvement since then. It’s been busy, but it has been very rewarding. The training on the recent private class was excellent, with a 3 day Combat Team Tactics (CTT), a 3 Day Combat Patrol (CP), followed by Force on Force Team Tactics (FoF) training and a final exercise utilizing UTM ammunition for various activities such as an ambush and dawn raid onto live OPFOR volunteers. This training is very rewarding for both the students and cadre. If you have not been to an MVT class, or it has been a while, then I am at  a loss for words because of the training opportunities you are missing. I could not be more happy with the advances we are making with our training classes and teaching techniques, and I simply want you to experience the benefits and be a part of it.

Warren’s Top Donors Include Individuals From Firms That Represent Corporations

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from the securities and investment sector.

Individuals working at law firms that represent major corporations and the Wall Street interests Warren condemns are also among her top financial backers.

Warren has long positioned herself as a blue-collar champion who takes on corporations and Wall Street interests, leading some to question how she can back Hillary Clinton. Clinton has collected $32 million from the securities and investment industry this election cycle, the most of any industry, on top of the $15 million the industry gave to her campaign for U.S. senator and the millions the Clintons have pocketed from their six-figure speeches to Wall Street.

Warren isn’t free from the industry either. Since she ran for Congress in 2011, she has collected more than $630,000 from individuals in the securities and investment industry, making it the sixth highest industry in political donations to her campaigns.

28 dead, 60 injured as three suicide bombers attack Istanbul airport with explosive vests and AK-47s

Footage appears to show the moment the explosion was detonated in what Turkish officials have declared was a terrorist attack

Three suicide bombers have killed at least 28 and wounded 60 in a 'major, co-ordinated' attack at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, opening fire with AK-47s and sparking a shoot-out with security personnel before blowing themselves up.  

Eyewitnesses have told how a hero policeman wrestled a suicide bomber to the ground just seconds before he detonated his explosives at the entrance to the airport's international arrivals terminal. 

It is believed the men were trying to pass through the airport's security x-ray machines at the entrance to the airport when they were stopped by security officers, and carried out their lethal attack. 

Reports tonight claim that ISIS is to blame for the attack, according to Turkey's Dogan news agency citing police sources. 

Turkish Airlines is the official airline partner to the Euro 2016 football tournament, being held in France.

Warren Ad’s Trump Flub

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s latest anti-Trump campaign ad has one big problem: It features a man who is not anti-Trump at all. In fact, Michael Levin, pictured in the ad with his family, voted for Donald Trump in the Massachusetts primary.

The ad shows Levin and his family in two clips. “In the first, he’s helping his daughter strap on a bicycle helmet. In the second, Levin and his wife are shown gazing into the distance. Warren’s voiceover during the clips declares: ‘They pay their fair share,'” reported Fox News.

 Levin told “Fox and Friends” Sunday that the “little girl you saw in that video actually came with me to the polls with her siblings to watch me vote for [Trump].”

SBC’s Mosque Building Support Is NOT Satirical – SBC Not Telling The Full Truth

 

In what seems uncannily like the infamous Friday data dumps by the current Presidential Administration, the Baptist Press dropped an article on its site on Friday, June 24 that is less than completely transparent. It leaves the reader with the incorrect view that the SBC is not involved in any way with mosque building efforts, which is patently false.

Under the headline, Mosque-building satirical rumor exposed as lie the article responds directly to “satirical news-like websites and blogs” that are claiming the SBC and the Tennessee Baptist Convention are cooperating in the building of Islamic mosques.

Pulpit & Pen – a site devoted to polemics, theology, and discernment, NOT satire – has been vocal about the certain fact that the Southern Baptist Convention is actively supporting the efforts to secure construction of a mosque in New Jersey.  (For more on the truth of the SBC’s mosque building alliances, see HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE)

I just read where the SBC is denying that the committee Richard Land was in charge of & which Roger Moore who now heads is not involved with buildings Mosques. They claim this is a rumor that was started on facebook by a publication like The Onion which is satire.

My research has revealed numerous legitimate Christian websites which are reporting this same story as well. One in particular, The Pulpits & Pens has done 5 articles covering this story. In their lastest story they showed copies of legal documents where the name of this SBC committee is on these documents listing them as a plaintiff against Bernard`s Township New Jersey for not issuing a permit for a Mosque to be built there.

Having been a life long Southern Baptist this story bothers me as it should every Christian regardless of denomination. On the one had I want to believe the SBC when they say they were not involved in Mosque building. On the other hand how does one deny copies of legal documents which bear the name of the SBC committee in question? Especially when there are numerous legitimate Christian websites reporting this same story.

As the old saying goes, “ where there is smoke there is usually fire.”

Transgender Ideology: Obama Bans Single-Sex Bathrooms at National Parks

President Barack Obama’s deputies have decreed that single-sex bathrooms will be eliminated in national parks to help make the nation’s outdoors into a transgender-supportive environment.

The Department of Interior tried to put a positive spin on the new ban. “As it relates to recently passed state laws relating to the transgender community, visitors to public lands and water sites are welcome to use restrooms that best align with their gender identity,” not with their sex, the agency said in an email to the Heritage Foundation.

Progressives are now insisting that each person’s feelings about “gender identity” is more important in law than the anatomical sex of Americans’ bodies. So they’re pushing government to undermine public support for the “gender binary” — the reality of distinct and complementary male and female sexes – and to promote the idea of fluid “gender identity,” even though cross-dressers comprise only about 1 in every 2,400 Americans.

“Officials at the State Department, including Secretary Clinton, learned almost in real time that the attack in Benghazi was a terrorist attack,” wrote Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., in a report supplementing the majority report.

Benghazi Committee Releases Final Report, Slams Clinton & The Benghazi Lie in Black and White

The U.S. House Select Committee on Benghazi released its final report on Tuesday morning, comprising some 800 pages of investigations and conclusions that suggest former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration were derelict in their duty to protect American diplomats from the most significant terror attack on the U.S. since Sep. 11, 2001.

The report also details how the Obama administration contrived to misinform the public about the cause of the attack.

The committee had already slammed a separate report Monday by its Democratic members, who had long maintained that the investigation was politically motivated. “Benghazi Committee Democrats’ obsession with the former Secretary of State is on full display. For over two years they refused to participate in the Majority’s serious, fact-centered investigation. The dishonest Democrats on this committee falsely claimed everything had been ‘asked and answered.’ They said the committee had found ‘absolutely nothing new.’ If that’s changed, they should come clean and admit it. If not, everyone can ignore their rehashed, partisan talking points defending their endorsed candidate for president,” an official statement by the committee declared.

Presumably in the rarified canyons of Wall Street, politics doesn’t matter much. After all, when things get desperate enough, Washington caves and does “whatever it takes” to get the stock averages moving upward again.

Here’s a news flash. That’s all about to change.

The era of Bubble Finance was enabled by a political abdication nearly 50 years ago. But as Donald Trump rightly observed in the wake of Brexit, the voters are about to take back their governments, meaning that the financial elites of the world are in for a rude awakening.

FINALLY! The Clinton Secret Service Tell-All Is Out Today

Former secret service agent Gary Byrne’s tell-all “Crisis of Character” has been called “the most anticipated book of the 2016 election.” For once, a book’s own selling point actually seems like an understatement. People have been waiting for this book — in which the Clintons’ former protector provides the dirty details on their time in the White House — for a long time, and its fallout is going to be absolutely explosive.

Although “Crisis of Character” did not come out until today, pre-orders have propelled it to the top of the Amazon Bestseller list for the past month. It has gone back and forth with the newest Harry Potter book for the #1 overall spot.

It’s not hard to figure out why. The little we know about its contents has been juicy, validating all we suspect about the Clintons while shedding light on so much more. Last week the Supreme Court of the United States voted that President Obama exceeded his authority when he granted exemptions from the immigration laws passed by Congress.

But the Supreme Court also exceeded its own authority by granting the University of Texas an exemption from the Constitution’s requirement of “equal protection of the laws,” by voting that racial preferences for student admissions were legal.

Is there a man in this assembly who, calling himself a Whig, and boasting of the Whig blood which circles in his veins, yet knows in his heart that he has imbibed the doctrines and pursued the conduct of the Tories? Is there an individual here, who, calling himself a State Rights man, knows in his heart that, like another Cyrsilus, he advised implicit submission to federal usurpation, and would, if he could, have laid Carolina At its footstool? Or is there a single man amongst us who, whilst pretending to admire the principles of the Revolution, knows in his heart that he not only approves the new-fangled doctrines of the President, but that he justifies and supports that Bloody Bill, of which the great objects are to make the federal Executive a despot, and the people of Carolina serfs and vassals? No! fellow-citizens—such are not the principles of the State Rights party. We have not forgotten the precepts, or dimmed the glory, of our fathers. 

We have not deserted the standard, or disgraced the cause, of freedom. We come not here to kneel to power, but to resist oppression. We come not here to clank our chains in honour of the tyrant who imposed them, but to defy his power, and break his sceptre into atoms. Strike your harps, then, ye Whigs of Carolina, and sing the praises of Liberty! Raise your voices, play upon a loud toned instrument, shout with a shout of triumph, and sing the glories of the Revolution! Who more worthy to celebrate the deeds of the Whigs of’76, than the Whigs of’32? Who more worthy to call Washington their father, than those who approve his conduct by imitating his example? Who more worthy to eulogize Jefferson, than those who believe with him that “Nullification is the rightful remedy,” and who, acting as he did in ’98, have added fresh lustre to his fame by another signal triumph of his principles? Who more worthy to extol the character of Moultrie, than those who have fought and conquered under his own Palmetto, or to laud the services of Sumter, than those whose cause he consecrated with his dying breath? Who more worthy, in short, to speak of Carolina, than those who have plucked her drowning honour from the deep, or of all that is precious, and endearing, and important in “Liberty, the Constitution, and the Union,” than those who have nobly defended and preserved them all?
