It's embarrassing when the French make more sense than the US: Emmanuel Macron: France Will Not Engage In ‘False Rewriting Of History,’ No Statues Are Coming Down

PARIS, FRANCE - JUNE 08: French President Emmanuel Macron makes a statement next to Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (unseen) during a press conference after their meeting at the Elysee Presidential Palace on June 08, 2017 in Paris, Kuczynski is on an official visit to France before going to Spain.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Sunday that his country would combat racism and bigotry but would not let violent rioters destroy statues or “rewrite” France’s history.

“We will be inflexible when it comes to tackling racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination, and new strong decisions will be made to reinforce the egality of chances,” Macron said, according to a translation provided by TIME. “But this noble fight is perverted when it turns into communitarianism, into a false rewriting of history.”

There Are More Than 9 Million Slaves in Africa Today. Do Black Lives Matter Only When the Oppressor Is White?

Via Cousin John

There are approximately 9 million men, women, and children living in modern slavery throughout Africa, according to a report issued by the Australia-based Walk Free Foundation.

The foundation’s Global Slavery Index revealed there is an estimate of 9,240,000 enslaved across the continent, living as forced labourers, forced prostitutes, child soldiers, and as child brides in forced marriages.

According to the report, Africa has the highest rate of prevalence for enslavement, with 7.6 people living in slavery for every 1,000 people in the region. The report also revealed that the rate of forced marriage (4.8 victims per 1,000 people) was higher than the rate of forced labour (2.8 victims per 1,000 people).

Legends of the Old Corps: Gustav Hasford and the “Snuffies”

Dennis Fisher: one of the "Snuffies"

"I hope you (and Foxy) are getting settled in nicely with family on the coast this week….the rain is here for several days and the green wall of grass, weeds, etc. is ahead of us in the race to see who wins. While staying indoors for the weather I ran across a website I had not been to in a while linked back through a GWOT veteran’s website and found this photo Above) from Vietnam that got my attention:

The link is from a story from Breach, Bang Clear that I read with great interest 1. because Vietnam, 2. because M3 grease gun & C-rats, 3. because.Marine combat photographer, 4. because ‘Snuffies’, among other things that all fed into a history I did know know of and yet reminds me of my late friend Jim Davis, the US Army photographer you helped me find Vietnam info on….the history of the ‘snuffies’ sounds very much like what might have happened to me if I had been a bit older and probably rated 4F due to my eyesight - but we will never know for sure. I got my photographic bug honestly, from my mother, who took pictures in the 30s later in WW@ old 8mm movies. Didn’t get into it for real until 1974 when in college, but the equipment is identical to what I used, the underwater Nikon camera (under the Marine’s left elbow), the Nikon F and aluminum screw top cans for film, most likely Tri-X….no GM Guidelamp M3 grease gun, however….shoot….

There is much, much more as well, I learned about the book that inspired one of the most well-known Vietnam movies on a par with Apocalypse Now and gave me a backstory of men I didn’t realize it touched….

So here is the link and perhaps it will fill in some history of the Marines there in Vietnam when you were there:    https://www.breachbangclear.com/legends-of-the-old-corps-the-snuffies/

Or maybe not….just thought you might like to read this….best, harry lynch 6/15/20"

The Short Timers, a novel by Gustav Hasford, was the foundation for Stanley Kubrick’s war film Full Metal Jacket, but it was a close-knit group of Marines called the “Snuffies” that inspired all the characters. Earl Gerheim became Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (made famous by R. Lee Ermey) and Private Joker was based (at least in large part) on Hasford himself. There were others in the book (and the subsequent Full Metal Jacket cast) inspired by “Old Corps” Marines too, all men who served with Hasford at Phu Bai, the Battle of Hue, and other places in Vietnam — including well-known Hollywood technical advisor turned actor Dale Dye.

There’s a story behind the story, as you’ll see in the Chris Hernandez story below.    DR

40% of GOP Voters Think Civil War Likely

CBS News Eye on Trends: The latest from the Election & Survey Unit
 June 12, 2020

With race-driven anti-police protests nationwide, one-in-three voters continue to believe America is on the brink of another civil war. Blacks are the least optimistic that the protests will lead to positive change but the most supportive of removing Confederate symbols from public display.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 34% of Likely U.S. Voters think the United States will experience a second civil war sometime in the next five years, but that includes only nine percent (9%) who say it’s Very Likely. This compares to 31% and 11% respectively two years ago. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Famous Assassination Guns

photos of guns used in famous assassinations

History can be transformed in a split second with the squeeze of a trigger. Famous assassinations of a president, pop-music icon, infamous criminal, or even the assassin himself can send shock waves through a nation and perhaps the entire world. Assassinations can have such a profound effect on those who were alive for them that they will always remember where they were and what they were doing at the moment they heard the news of the murder.

Sometimes the assassination of a famous person is for political reasons. Other times it might be revenge or greed. And there are those instances when the murder is inexplicable. Two common themes that run through the following assassinations (and almost every other one) is that they altered the course of history to some degree, and history has not yet forgotten them and likely never will.
Here are six assassinations—along with assassins and the guns they used—most of which have left people grasping for answers and sometimes crafting conspiracy theories to try to make sense of them:

Total Surrender to Anarchy’: English Police Force Advises Officers to ‘Take The Knee’ in Front of BLM Protests

LONDON, ENGLAND - JUNE 03: Protesters and police come together during a Black Lives Matter protest on June 03, 2020 in London, England. The death of an African-American man, George Floyd, while in the custody of Minneapolis police has sparked protests across the United States, as well as demonstrations of …

An English police force has suggested that officers ‘take the knee’ during Black Lives Matter protests in order to avoid unwanted attention from the leftist activists, a move which Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage described as “insanity mixed with cowardice”.

Hertfordshire Constabulary advised officers symbolically join the BLM movement by kneeling during a recent briefing for Operation Velour, claiming that the gesture of submission has a “very positive” effect on protests.

Protesters In Asheville, Portland, Nashville, And Chicago Try To Create Autonomous Zones. Police Aren’t Having It.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - JUNE 12: A sign inside the âCapitol Hill Autonomous Zoneâ in Seattle, Washington on June 12, 2020. The area named âAutonomous Zoneâ was formed after Seattle Police abandoned its East Precinct during protests against police brutality and the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died after being pinned down by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States on May 25, 2020. In an effort to replicate the “Seattle Autonomous Zone” in cities nationwide, protesters took to the streets of Asheville, North Carolina, Portland, Oregon, Nashville, Tennessee, and Chicago, Illinois, over the weekend. Warned by what’s happening in the “CHAZ,” though, police departments were quick to shut down those efforts.

In Nashville, the effort was over before it even began.

Which Side Committed Treason in the 'Civil War'?

The two people in America who seem to suffer the most from Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) are Mr. Kellyanne Conway (a.k.a. George) and “Republican strategist” Rick Wilson, two old GOP political hacks who apparently lost their lucrative gigs with the party when Donald Trump was elected.  They, along with a gaggle of other sour grapes, out-of-the-loop D.C. Republicans, have created something called “The Lincoln Project” which they intend to use to vent their hatred for the president.  Their first effort was to (informally) join forces with the self-described Marxist revolutionary founders of Black Lives Matter (and Antifa for that matter) to accuse the president of being a ‘’white supremacist.”

London is Being Ethnically Cleansed — The Rest of us Are Next: London saw swarms of Black Lives Matter marauders again this weekend. Seneca III sends this report.

Preamble

Today in Africa-on-Thames there were two supposed ‘protests’. Their assembly points, routes and final destinations had been designated and published to keep them separate at all times before the dispersal time of 1500hrs. Either by intent or by sheer incompetence the Metropolitan Police under the titular command of Commissioner Cressida Dick, but actually under that of the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, the Paki bus driver’s son, one time legal defender of Muslim terrorists and a Labour Party stalwart, failed miserably.
