Rep. Madison Cawthorn slams NC district’s mask mandate as ‘psychological child abuse'

 Via Cousin John

A congressman dropped in on a North Carolina school board meeting — and slammed the district’s COVID-19 mask mandate.

“Forcing our children to wear a mask is nothing short of psychological child abuse, period,” U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn, a Republican, told Buncombe County Schools officials on Thursday. “Their social skills are stunted.”

An ode to the Waccamaw

Waccamaw Indians

My heart bled along the Waccamaw,
where ancient warriors reigned.
I wonder if their spirits saw
as I kneeled there, pained.

Carolina! She beckoned me to rise,
and her warm sun kissed my face.
A glory came fore my eyes,
which is this Southern place.

Hail, you Carolinas of mine,
you’ve dearly blessed your son.
There’s naught I’d rather be than thine,
I am grateful for all you’ve done.

Your beauties are like Eden to me,
and I shall never forget you, amour!
You will be the first and last I see,
and there’s nothing I’d want more.

A Tarheel I was in the womb,
and that I have been all my days.
A Tarheel I shall be in my tomb,
having sung this final praise.

Repost 2014: Hedge Laying

 Via Bonnie Gadsden

Over two thousand years older than chain link.

A hedge with summer foliage. A living hedge not only keeps livestock fenced but also prevents soil erosion and water runoff. Living hedges are good wind blocks and snow collectors as well as habitat to birds, insects and small mammals. And they sequester carbon, rather than produce it, such as during the manufacture of chain link or plastic.

‘We Are a Serious Country’ – Hungarians Tell Tucker How and Why They Ended Border Crisis

 Hungary

While we were on the border… we saw two people who attempted to come illegally,” Carlson added, going on to describe how the Hungarians dealt with the incident.

“It was a very straightforward process, so straightforward that it was a little confusing to watch,” he explained:

They came over the border, they were immediately picked up by Border Patrol. They were brought to a detainment area. They were treated politely. We were there the whole time.

They were photographed. They were searched for weapons on the outside of their clothing and then they were escorted through a door, and we followed them. We thought they were going to further processing or to meet with their attorneys or some Soros-funded NGO, and then moved into some other part of Hungary to stay there forever, at least a few years.

But that’s not what it was. That door was the border, and as we followed them through, they were escorted back where they came from, into Serbia and they can apply for asylum somewhere else.
