Cold Snowy Day for a Global Warming Debate

Via comment by Anonymous on Greenpeace Activist Calls for Climate Change ‘Deni...

Stop sign covered in snow

It is a good day for global warming sceptics though the headlines read, “A Bad Day for Climate Change Deniers … And the Planet.” Climate change is defined by officials to mean global warming; and they insist it is warming even though we are cooling.

Time Magazine gets the climate change perversion prize, “Three new studies offer new proof of how bad the earth’s fever has gotten. It’s not often that the climate change deniers get clobbered three times in just two days. But that’s what happened with the release of a trio of new studies that ought to serve as solid body blows to the fading but persistent fiction that human-mediated warming is somehow a hoax. Good news for the forces of reason, however, is bad news for the planet—especially the oceans.”

What is perverse here is no mention of the real news for oceans, specifically the Northern Pacific Ocean, which is being polluted with radiation pouring out of Fukushima, is the greatest disaster to ever befall mankind. “Consensus holds that Fukushima constitutes the greatest radiological release into the ocean ever to occur.”

The Daily Mail responds with this headline, “NASA climate scientists: We said 2014 was the warmest year on record… but we’re only 38% sure we were right.  The NASA climate scientists who claimed 2014 set a new record for global warmth last night admitted they were only 38% sure this was true. In a press release on Friday, NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) claimed its analysis of world temperatures showed ‘2014 was the warmest year on record’. The claim made headlines around the world, but yesterday it emerged that GISS’s analysis – based on readings from more than 3,000 measuring stations worldwide – is subject to a margin of error. Nasa admits this means it is far from certain that 2014 set a record at all.”

Robert Felix from Ice Age Now said, “Pay no attention to the real-world climate or those guys behind the curtain, we are told. Just worry about climate monsters conjured up by their computer models …. And you should turn a blind eye to the billions of dollars in government, industry and foundation money paid annually to researchers and modelers who subscribe to manmade climate disruption claims.”

As of the middle of January ice covered 88% of Lake Erie and 34.1% of the Great Lakes overall.

What if Your Mosin Nagant was More Accurate?

 Spring Sear Polishing

Tweaking your Mosin Nagant rifle for tighter groups is not necessarily the easiest weekend project.

However, if you are the motivated type, you can finally take that step past the casual shooter and into the realm of the customized shooting enthusiast. Since I am almost obsessive about getting good groups at the range, my friends wondered why in the world I would buy a beat up old Mosin. I told them I wanted the challenge of taking an Eastern Block bolt gun and outshooting them and their fancy ARs at the range. It might surprise you that with a little ingenuity, it is possible to turn that old Soviet rifle into a finely tuned precision target-blasting machine—sort of.

A trigger job can accomplish a great deal. The included trigger on most Mosin Nagants is long, heavy, gritty, and creepy. None of these attributes makes for a very accurate rifle. I imagine the thinking of the designers was to get as many guns in the hands of peasants as they could for the least amount of rubles as possible.

To help make your peasant gun fit for a Tsar, a trigger job is a good place to start.

Prologue:

The smell crouched in silence. As Cooper peered through the screened door of Grasslawn, the great house on Beach Boulevard, the smell attacked with a paradox all its own; paradoxical because it reeked of both honeysuckle and rusty iron. Cooper’s common sense told him the two were incompatible, but here they were one and the same. Was the honeysuckle’s candied sweetness exemplary of the innate happiness of life, while the metallic rancidity of the iron was indicative of the predestined sadness that can befall it? An education began for the gangly young man on that sultry, July morning in 1938. One that would teach him life is a combination of both honeysuckle and rusty iron, each being inseparable, but intimately in tune with the other’s idiosyncrasies.

Cooper was not alone in his aversion to the paradox. Papa Barnes, Cooper’s grandfather and the local sheriff, had the same misgivings. Together they gazed into the dim darkness of Grasslawn’s entrance hall, discerning vague shadows of what lay beyond.

“Come on Coop,” Papa Barnes said as he opened the screened door. “We aren’t gonna learn anything lollygagging on the front porch.” The screened door opened with a shriek, but the house was saturated in silence.

Stepping into the entrance hall, the two men stopped dead in their tracks. At the end of the hallway was a body lying face-up at the foot of an elegant curved staircase. The body’s eyes screamed at Cooper and his grandfather. As they stared at the body, pencil-thin rays of sunlight crept through the folds of the thick drapery hanging at the windows. The rays scampered across the floor, illuminating what had fathered the paradoxical smell. The body lay fermenting in an immense pool of coagulated blood, which to Cooper reeked of honeysuckle and rusty iron. The fermenting blood had once given life to Sebastian DePellepoix, of the New Orleans’ DePellepoixes.

“Papa? Is Mr. Sebastian…”

“Dead? Afraid so. Appears he’s been dead for some time.”

“Poor Mr. Sebastian. He was a nice man and…Papa! Look at those letters! He must have scribbled them in his own blood before he died!”

“Yank those curtains back so we can see better.”

When Cooper opened the tasseled drapery, the sunlight splashed into the hallway and revealed yet another horror. A second body, its back covered in blood, lay face down on the floor of Sebastian’s richly-appointed study. His study was a gentleman’s paradise resplendent with leather-bound first editions and paintings of the French countryside.

“Boy, stay where you are,” Papa Barnes said. “Let me take a look-see.” Entering the study through a soaring arched entrance, Papa Barnes knelt beside the body, gently turning its head.
“Sweet Lord in Heaven!” Cooper replied. “It’s Johnnie Necaise!”

Upon discovering the murders, neither Cooper nor Papa Barnes was surprised someone had murdered Johnnie Necaise, but Sebastian’s death seemed a senseless waste. Papa Barnes attempted to roll Johnnie’s body over on its back, but he stopped suddenly. He moaned in disgust. He quickly let go of the body and put his hand to his mouth and gagged. The body was grotesquely disfigured. Papa Barnes’s reaction to the disfigurement, coupled with the body’s own reeking pond of garnet-colored blood, sent Cooper reeling backward. He ran to the screened door and out onto the front porch. Gagging over the balustrade, he spit up the breakfast his grandmother had cooked and wiped its dripping residue from his mouth.

Little did Cooper realize the smell that nauseated him that morning would follow him for the rest of his life. He would experience both happiness and sadness again and again: in the laughter of his family; in the unspoiled kisses of his wife; in a German prisoner-of-war camp; in the pleading eyes of his loved ones; in the fury of swirling waters. But all of that was yet to come. These murders were part of the present, not the future, and solving them would take Cooper on an odyssey. An odyssey that would wrap itself around the little town of Port Haven, Mississippi, and two of its most powerful families.

That odyssey would change Cooper’s life forever.

FDA could set millions of genetically modified mosquitoes loose in Florida Keys

Via Bill

Millions of genetically modified mosquitoes could be released in the Florida Keys if British researchers win approval to use the bugs against two extremely painful viral diseases.

Never before have insects with modified DNA come so close to being set loose in a residential U.S. neighborhood.

"This is essentially using a mosquito as a drug to cure disease," said Michael Doyle, executive director of the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District, which is waiting to hear if the Food and Drug Administration will allow the experiment.

Dengue and chikungunya are growing threats in the U.S., but some people are more frightened at the thought of being bitten by a genetically modified organism. More than 130,000 signed a Change.org petition against the experiment.

Even potential boosters say those responsible must do more to show that benefits outweigh the risks.

Charles Alan Dyer: Innocent Oklahoma Marine Still in Prison

It only takes an accusation! Imagine spending years in prison for something you were accused of, but didn’t do.

Now imagine yourself as a decorated Marine who has served his country during one tour in Japan, one tour in Iraq, been honorably discharged, and has never before been arrested for anything. Welcome to the world of Charles Alan Dyer of Duncan, Oklahoma.

Dyer’s unjust incarceration began on January 12, 2010 after his wife, Valerie Wylie-Dyer, allegedly falsely accused Dyer of molesting the couple’s then, 8-year-old daughter Hayley Dyer. Eight days later Mr. Dyer was formally charged with one count of Child Sexual Abuse and so began a trail of lies and legal malfeasance that would ultimately lead to Dyer being convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The alleged lies began with Valerie Wylie-Dyer approximately seven months before Mr. Dyer’s arrest when he was still in the Marine Corps and living in California and Valerie and Hayley were living in Oklahoma. This separation was reportedly agreed upon by both Dyer and Valerie as a way for the couple to save money for Dyer’s approaching discharge from the Marines. It was during this time of separation that Valerie reportedly began abusing prescription drugs to cope with depression and also began “drinking heavily”. It was also during this time that Dyer states that during a phone conversation with Valerie he found out, “my wife was cheating on me, doing drugs, and having group sex parties.”

"The same thing is going to happen here. Turn off the Free Shit Army Spigot and all hell will break loose. I'm not really sure what is holding everyone's civility back.

I was in the supermarket the other day pre-snowpacalypse and all eyes were rolling and looking at each other with nasty looks when the woman holding up the line took out her 'benefits' card wasn't working"

Crime is already a problem on Venezuela's roads and in its shops, and now trucks carrying food across the country are a target as shortages of basics like flour and chicken worsen.

A restriction on dollars for imports has worsened shortages since the start of the new year and food delivery has become increasingly risky, despite additions of GPS devices and in some cases accompaniment by private security guards.

"I won't transport food anymore because the streets are too dangerous," said Orlando Garcia, a 37-year-old driver from the western state of Tachira who has been ambushed twice.

Jan 26 1945: Audie Murphy’s single handed battle, kills 50, holds line

Via Terry

Winter in northwestern Europe, 1945 - conditions on the Ardennes front.

Audie L. Murphy had come a long way since he had landed in Sicily in 1943 as a Corporal and the runner for B Company, 15th Infantry Regiment. A string of promotions and medals had been accompanied by a number of wounds and incapacitation with Malaria. In October 1944 he had been awarded two Silver Stars and a battlefield commission – but had also been shot in the leg and during subsequent hospital treatment had had muscle removed after gangrene set in. Many men would have taken a long time to recover from such a wound but in January 1945 Murphy rejoined his regiment and soon was back in the thick of the action.

On January 23, the 30th Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division had reached the outskirts of the village of Holtzwihr, the wooded area known as the Bois de Riedwihr. They suddenly encountered 10 tanks and accompanying infantry and sustained heavy casualties before they were forced to withdraw.

A SYNOPSIS:

Katie Pavlich published a great piece today. So have Tim Stellar, David Hardy, David Codrea, Mark Walters and Mike Vanderbough in days previous.  I understand another piece will publish tomorrow in a major newspaper.  I do not know if it will be as scathing as those published by these reporters.  Time will tell.

Thank you to each. Not thanks for helping me. That is not their jobs nor would they compromise their investigative integrity or journalistic ethics to do a favor. The "thanks" are for covering the story, doing so unbiased, citing facts and evidence and mostly for having the courage to report on this administration when the national mainstream media wants to turn a blind eye.  If their is an award for reporters who write or speak the truth and ignore the blowback, it should be given to each of you.

This could all have been prevented and now can be fixed. I don't want their money.  I never did.  What I want is a public admission of guilt from Holder and a face-to-face apology from Jones and Brandon (honestly, out of respect for the office, I would never seek one from our President). Obama, Holder and Jones have to lead and face the situation. Until then I will battle them to the bloody end.

You are quickly approaching critical mass gentlemen.  You need to do now what you should have done a long time ago - conduct some serious risk assessment.  Read the public comments attached to these stories.  You are outed and you have failed.  I understand you are choking on your pride.  You forced me to gag on my mine when you falsely accused me of trying to kill my family and then defended the people who put that on me.

Usefulness of handheld automatic weapons.

When I lived in the Soviet Union, I heard people say that they didn’t need or want capitalist excesses of choices or resources. The notion that being poor but proud conferred an intellectual superiority is held by a few in America as well. It manifests itself often during discussions of automatic firearms. “Full auto is inaccurate and wasteful of ammunition”, people say. I say: “Stop trying to rationalize the lack of access to modern technology as a benefit of some sort!”

The rifle above is a CMMG M47 Mutant, an AR15 designed to work with an AK47 magazine. In select-fire form, it has a cyclic rate of around 500 shots per minute. This means that a quick trigger press yields single shots. A slightly longer press gives a 2-3 round burst with excellent control.

Massive terrorist attacks on US would spark martial law

One of the most important yet overlooked factors that will occur in the aftermath of a massive terrorist attack on the United States is that such an attack would spark martial law on a national basis.

Several national security experts were contacted who have no doubt that martial law will be declared.

This declaration would include not only forced curfews but mandatory confiscation of citizen owned firearms.  (Who's going to do this?  Preposterous.)

Judge alleges ‘fraud on the court’ by government attorneys in Dobyns case

Commenting on revelations about Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Department of Justice (DOJ) actions in the case of retired agent Jay Dobyns against his former employer, attorney David Hardy equated them with “a BATF and DOJ Watergate... or worse,” Friday.

Noting that actions taken over a civil lawsuit evidently have included concealing evidence, secret threats against witnesses, and surveillance of attorneys and witnesses, the new information lends further credence to Dobyns’ allegations and appears to show government lawyers engaged in a criminal conspiracy.

“For people like me, who have sympathized with Dobyns but tried to reserve judgment about his case, the documents push us further into the retired agent’s camp,” Tim Steller of the Arizona Daily Star admitted. “You can’t read the few filings that have been unsealed in the case without wondering why the Justice Department is going to such extremes and spending so much on what is, at base, a relatively minor contractual dispute that could have ended years ago.”
