In an era in which serious concerns are discussed regarding police abuse, government surveillance, standing armies, increasing division and strife and the potential loss of constitutional rights, American Bastille details the accounts of the imprisonment and sufferings of approximately 70 people at the hands of the State (including pastors, Judges, U.S. Senators, Doctors, Farmers, Editors, Foreign Ministers and women) from places like New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, California, Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, Indiana and Ohio. Marshall writes that their stories have been preserved “for the purpose of preventing, in the future, a repetition of the errors and crimes committed in the past, and to aid in the preservation of those rights, liberties, and franchises transmitted to us by the fathers of the Republic, to be protected, defended, and guarded by us, as a sacred trust.”

The fortifications lie in uninhabited or very sparsely inhabited territory. They consist of sand and stone walls or berms about 3 m (10 ft) in height, with bunkers, fences and landmines throughout. The barrier minebelt that runs along the structure is thought to be the longest continuous minefield in the world.

Would it surprise you to learn that another country built a 1,700-mile wall to keep illegal aliens out?  

Would you be surprised to learn that we are not talking about the Great Wall of China, but something built recently, in the 1980s, by a small, impoverished country with only a fraction of the resources of the United States?

If you know the country I'm talking about, give yourself a gold star.

The country I'm talking about is Morocco!  In the 1980s, Morocco made a land grab in the sparsely populated territory to the south called the Western Sahara.  It has a problem with illegals infiltrating, and so Morocco built a 1,700-mile wall to keep them out.  And it took only five or six years to build!

NC: Wayne County farmer charged after crop insurance fraud investigation

A Wayne County farmer has been accused on several fraud charges after a multi-target crop insurance fraud investigation in the Eastern District of North Carolina, attorney said.

James S. Wiggins, 43, was charged with various offenses against the United States, false statements to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation, and material false statements to the Farm Service Agency and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Investigation showed Wiggins and other people were filing false federal crop insurances claims and false federal crop disaster relief claims, structuring transactions to evade reporting requirements and engaging in various financial transactions to conceal the fraud.

Wouldn't want to match wits with the gentleman.

In order to have a clear and just conception of the nature and object of government, it is indispensable to understand correctly what that constitution or law of our nature is, in which government originates; or, to express it more fully and accurately — that law, without which government would not, and with which, it must necessarily exist. Without this, it is as impossible to lay any solid foundation for the science of government, as it would be to lay one for that of astronomy, without a like understanding of that constitution or law of the material world, according to which the several bodies composing the solar system mutually act on each other, and by which they are kept in their respective spheres. The first question, accordingly, to be considered is — What is that constitution or law of our nature, without which government would not exist, and with which its existence is necessary?

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper admitted to congressional investigators that he spoke with CNN about the Trump dossier close to the time the outlet published a scoop, according to a House Intelligence Committee report released Friday.

The report revealed that Clapper, during an interview with House Intelligence Committee investigators on July 17, 2017, first “flatly denied” that he had discussed with journalists the dossier or any other intelligence related to the 2016 election.

But during that same interview, he later admitted discussing the dossier with CNN’s Jake Tapper and possibly other journalists.

A few thoughts on our disastrous  trillion-dollar  military: 

It is unnecessary. It does not defend the United States. The last time it did so was in 1945.  The United States has no military enemies. No nation has anything even close to the forces necessary to invade America, and probably none the desire. A fifth of the budget would suffince for any real needs.

When President Trump lashed out Friday at former FBI Director James Comey for sharing memos about their conversations, the president highlighted the case of a lower-level figure who was given a tough sentence for mishandling classified material.

“Remember sailor!” Trump tweeted.

It was a reference to Kristian Saucier, the former U.S. Navy sailor who served a year behind bars for taking photos of classified areas in a nuclear submarine before being pardoned by Trump this spring.

Vandals trash Civil War cemetery: Topple graves, Confederate flag ‘ripped off hinges’, American flags ‘shredded’

Police are looking for vandals who trashed a Civil War cemetery in Georgia this week, ripping down the Confederate flag and toppling gravestones as they racked up thousands of dollars in damages.

“They messed up the Confederate flagpole,” said Ronald Eslinger, who oversees Nathan Anderson Cemetery in Ringgold for the Sons of Confederate Veterans. “Somebody come up there and tore the latch off the pole and stole the flag. They broke monuments, turned over some stuff, and stole stick flags from graves. Around the flagpole is where they did all the damage.”

Colt Walker Sells for $1.84 million, Smashes Records

The Rock Island Auction Company broke the record for selling the world’s most expensive firearm. The company sourced and auctioned a Colt Model 1847 Walker revolver, with its original case and accessories for $1.84 million dollars.

A true “unicorn” gun, the Walker is one of about 100 known to exist and the only known revolver with its factory belongings.

How Will Mass ‘Migrant’ Crossing Not Be an Unprovoked Foreign Attack?

 

“Migrant ‘caravan’ at U.S.-Mexico border prepares for mass crossing,” Reuters reported Thursday.

“Hundreds of Central American migrants from a caravan that crossed Mexico reunited in Tijuana on Wednesday and planned to cross the border together this weekend in defiance of threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to repel them.”

If allowed to happen, the criminal invasion – and ultimately that’s what it is – will be a direct result of a chain of circumstances aided and abetted by the Mexican government in violation of its own laws.  Mexican law requires foreign nationals be in their country legally and that their presence be beneficial. It is a criminal offense there to aid and abet illegal immigration.

Broward Deputy Union Drops Hammer On Sheriff Scott Israel

 

In an overwhelming vote, the Broward Sheriff's Office Deputies Association announced it has "no confidence" in Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and is going to ask Florida Governor Rick Scott to remove him from office over his handling of the Parkland shooting.

Out of the 628 officers in the union, 534 voted that they had no confidence in Sheriff Israel. Union President Jeff Bell said that it was the "union's first vote of no confidence against a sheriff."

Russia ‘won’t allow’ another US military action in Syria based on false flag – OPCW envoy

Russia’s envoy to the OPCW said it was crucial to avoid new false-flag attacks in Syria and that Moscow “won’t allow” US military action there, as he described details of Russian findings on the site of the alleged Douma incident. 

 

New false-flag operations against Damascus are “possible, since our American partners are once again threatening to take military action against Syria, but we will not allow that,” Russia’s permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Aleksandr Shulgin, said during a press conference in The Hague on Thursday.

The meeting was called by Russia’s OPCW mission and featured witnesses of the April 7 alleged chemical incident in the city of Douma. It highlighted the findings of Russian military experts, who were among the first to reach the site of the purported attack and locate the “munitions” that supposedly hit the residential buildings.

How does a nation reach a point where it will essentially kidnap a child from a loving, functioning family, yank that same child off life support, deny him care as he unexpectedly fights to stay alive, and then block attempts by a foreign government to rescue him and provide him top-notch care free of charge? How does a great civilization sink to such barbarism and tyranny?

There are two stories one could tell — one about policy, the other about philosophy. The policy story traces events like the nationalization of health care, the evolution of family law, and changing doctrines of individual liberty. It is far less important. Policy flows from philosophy, and the philosophy of government is the central reason for the monstrous injustice in Great Britain.

What's happening in England to Alfie Evans is a nightmare. Let's skip the debate on universal healthcare -- the British government has gone from refusing additional treatment for the young boy to preventing the efforts of others to treat the child at no cost to the British subjects.

Stephen Foster's statue removed amid criticism

 

A 118-year-old statue of the "Oh! Susanna" songwriter was removed from a Pittsburgh park Thursday after criticism that the work is demeaning because it includes a slave sitting at his feet, plucking a banjo.

In October, the Pittsburgh Art Commission voted to take the Stephen Foster sculpture out of Schenley Plaza and find it a new home. For now, it will remain in a storage lot, out of the public view.
