High School AP History Book Rewrites 2nd Amendment
Via Blue
Guyer High School (and obviously several others) are complicit in attempting to condition students to interpret the 2nd Amendment in a clearly opposite manner in which it was intended. The 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th are also misinterpreted as several commenters below pointed out.
This textbook, currently being used by Guyer High School, is attempting to redefine the Second Amendment to impressionable young minds. Parents, you must speak up and demand action.
Investigate your child's history book ASAP, and post more pictures in the comments below. Call your school and demand that revisionist history books like this are removed from the school district.
Textbook version: "The people have a right to keep and bear arms in a state militia."
Actual 2nd Amendment: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Did you catch the sleight of hand?
A militia is a body of citizens enrolled for military service, and called out periodically for drill but serving full time only in emergencies. It's a common man army of citizens, NOT soldiers. The citizens are called up in emergencies to protect the free State.
The 2nd Amendment says that a militia is necessary to protect a free State, so in order to be able to have a militia, the citizens have a natural right to keep and bear arms and the government cannot infringe on that right.
The textbook version implies that we're only allowed to keep and bear arms if we're in a State militia, a clear misrepresentation of the 2nd Amendment.

Truckers To Shut Down America

Breaker 1 9 calling on all Trucker to shut America down for three days October 11-13. The American people are bleeding out with no relief in sight, It is time to change the NEWS. Let us show our elected officials that we are 100% fed up with corruption and the blatant disregard of the Constitution that they swore to defend.
If the drivers refuse to move the trucks for that time frame, what are the big companies going to do? Fire all the drivers? They have to stick together just like the Bikers did. We can do it!
Pale blue dot: Voyager 1 signal from interstellar space photographed
NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft nearly 12 billion miles from Earth is still phoning home from interstellar space, and a new NASA photo captures that radio signal as pale blue speck in a cosmic ocean.
The space agency unveiled the amazing image Voyager 1's radio signal glow as seen by an array of radio telescopes on Earth to celebrate Voyager 1's arrival in its new interstellar frontier.
Researchers confirmed Thursday that Voyager 1 is officially in interstellar space. The spacecraft, which launched in 1977, became the first ever human-made object to leave our cosmic neighborhood and enter the space between stars. It likely did so on or around Aug. 25, 2012. [ Voyager 1 in Interstellar Space: Complete Coverage ]
Scientists can't "see" our first interstellar ambassador in the visible spectrum, but they can detect Voyager 1's signal in radio light.
The 36-year-old spacecraft's communications technology is lacking by today's standards. A smartphone has thousands of times more memory than Voyager 1, and the space probe's main transmitter radiates just 22 watts, about the same amount of power as a typical ham radio or a refrigerator light bulb, NASA said. But compared to many natural objects probed by radio telescopes, Voyager 1's signal is actually quite bright.

D.C. Shootings: Al-Qaida leader called for 'lone wolf' attack
Authorities in Washington say their investigation so far gives them no reason to believe Navy Yard shooting suspect Aaron Alexis, 34, with a Fort Worth, Texas, address, is linked to organized terror even though just two days earlier, al-Qaida’s leader had called for a “lone wolf” attack on Washington.
The attack Monday at the Washington Navy Yard left 13 dead, including Alexis, a military contractor, authorities said. The motive for the gun assault on the base was unclear and authorities even still wondered whether the gunman was alone, or whether there were others involved.
And at the Washington Free Beacon, a report from Bill Gertz confirmed that several online jihadists were linking Islamists to the violence.
He reported, “Several jihadists wrote in Arabic on Twitter shortly after the shooting began around 8:20 a.m. ET that it appeared to be motivated by Islamist extremism. Some used the hashtag ‘Al Qaeda’ to report news of the shooting.”

Whether or not the Federal Reserve decides to taper in September is now irrelevant. The only option the Fed has now is to the size of immediately. If it does not, interest rates on treasury bonds will continue to rise causing an acceleration of the current deterioration of the economy.

Economic Freedom in US Lowest Since 2000
Economic freedom in the United States is at its lowest point in more than a decade, according to conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation.
The United States scored 76 on The Heritage Foundation's 2013 Economic Freedom Index, the lowest score since 2000 and 10th out of the 185 nations examined.
The index, created in partnership with The Wall Street Journal, measures the impact of liberty and the free market in different countries around the world. The Index demonstrates the strong connection between prosperity and economic freedom, with metrics related to government spending, trade freedom and the rule of law.
Hong Kong received the highest rank, 89.3, followed by Singapore (88), Australia (82.6), New Zealand (81.4) and Switzerland (81). The worldwide average was 59.6.
The U.S. score has been declining for five consecutive years in terms of economic freedom. Only Ireland has posted a similar decline the past five years.
"On a worldwide basis, the advance of economic freedom has ground to a halt," the report states.
"The overall stagnation observed in worldwide levels of economic freedom has coincided with significant setbacks in countries previously regarded as leaders in economic freedom.
"In particular, the United States and Ireland, which had risen in previous years as high as fourth place in the rankings, have seen their scores drop substantially in recent years. Both suffered declines in economic freedom again this year."

Florida Man To Be Disciplined For Facebook Post About Islam?
Palm Beach County Public Affairs staffer John Jamason is being investigated for a Facebook post about Islam. There is every chance that he could be disciplined for making a "critical" statement about Islam on 9/11. Since when is it a crime to post a statement like this on one's personal Facebook page? Where is the man's right to free speech? Apparently free speech is a secondary issue when one of Florida's leading Muslim groups is offended.
John Jamason incited the wrath of Council on American-Islamic Relations Florida, Inc because of a Facebook post about Islam. On Friday, September 13, the group demanded that all social media posts made by Jamason be turned over to them for inspection. They asked for a public records request to the county commission asking for communication sent by Jamason from any country computer within the past 3o days. This includes social media comments or anything that would be deemed personal.
On 9/11.2013, Jamason wrote on his Facebook page," “Never forget. There is no such thing as radical Islam. All Islam is radical. There may be Muslims who don’t practice their religion, much like others. The Quran is a book that preaches hate,” the message said, according to WPTV."John Jamason is precisely correct. All Islam is radical. The Quran preaches nothing but hate. Everything he said is 100 percent truth and nothing that everyone truly aware with the nature of Islam has not said on social media and posted over and over again. This is free speech. But will speaking out cost Jamason his job?

Syrian Jihadist Slits Throat of Christian Man Refusing to Deny Christ, Then Taunts Fiancée, 'Jesus Didn't Come to Save Him'
Via Freedom Outpost
Ghastly attacks on Christians mocked as "Crusaders" in Syria continued unabated as Jihadists reportedly forced one man to convert to Islam at gunpoint and slit the throat of another Christian woman's fiancé and then told her, "Jesus didn't come to save him."
Residents who fled from the ancient town of Maalula in Syria told AFP that jihadists ambushed the town last week and forced a man to convert to Islam at gunpoint.
"They arrived in our town at dawn... and shouted 'We are from the Al-Nusra Front and have come to make lives miserable for the Crusaders," said one woman identified as Marie in Damascus, where many people from Maalula fled after rebels first attacked that town on Sept. 4.
One of the most renowned Christian towns in Syria, many of Maalula's approximately 5,000 residents speak Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke. Rebels want to tighten their control of the town for its strategic value as a launching point to level attacks on the highway between the capital and Homs, a key regime supply route.
On Tuesday, Marie and hundreds of others in exile in Damascus, attended the burial of three Christian pro-regime militiamen who were killed in fighting.
Adnan Nasrallah, 62, told AFP that an explosion destroyed an archway just across from his house that leads into Maalula during the fighting last week.

Alexis, 34, originally of Fort Worth, Texas, recently began working at the Navy yard as a civilian contractor, the station reported. The FBI confirmed his identity in the afternoon.
Alexis was armed with an assault rifle and a handgun, two law enforcement officials tell the Washington Post. One of the sources said he also had a shotgun. All the weapons have reportedly been accounted for. His aunt, Helen Weeks, told the paper that he grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. with his mother, Sarah, and father, Anthony.
At least 13 people were killed -- including Alexis -- and more were wounded at the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters building after at least one gunman opened fire after 8:20 a.m. Monday, a Defense Department official said.

When thousands of Muslims become refugees, then you can’t get the media to shut up about it for weeks. Thousands of Muslim migrants invading Burma became “refugees” and the media has spent the better part of a year ranting about how evil the Buddhists are.
But when Muslim terrorists attack a Christian city creating tens of thousands of refugees, you couldn’t pay the media to cover the story, whether it’s in Syria, Egypt or closer to home in the Philippines.

Philippine troops have started to battle their way into coastal villages in the south where Muslim rebels have held scores of residents hostage in a six-day standoff, sparking fierce clashes that have killed 56 people and displaced more than 60,000, officials said Saturday.
President Benigno Aquino III said more firefights were expected but assured more than 62,000 displaced villagers being sheltered at a sports complex in Zamboanga city that the rebels’ capability to sow trouble has been degraded and the government was working to end the crisis soon.

Who Is Vladimir Putin? Russia’s Formidable but Enigmatic President
Mike Scruggs
Not many Americans or Western Europeans really know Russian President
Vladimir Putin, but friend or foe, it is in our interest to know him
well. To know him, we must first shake off some of our cold war stereotypes
of Russia and Russian leaders.
The Russian Federation
replaced the old Soviet Union in 1992, after the collapse of the Communist
Party. Boris Yeltsin was the first directly elected president of the
new Russian Federation and served until his resignation on December
31, 1999. At that time, he named his recently appointed Prime Minister,
Vladimir Putin, to the office of President. Putin won the March 26,
2000 election running under the Unity Party banner with 53.4 percent
of the vote against 11 other candidates. The Communist candidate came
in a distant second with 29.5 percent of the vote. Putin served until
March 2008, when Dmitry Medvedev was elected President, and Putin was
named Prime Minister. Putin was elected again to the presidency in March
2012 and appointed Medvedev to the office of Prime Minister.
The Russian Federation
is not the Communist dominated Soviet Union, and Boris Yeltsin, Dmitry
Medvedev, and Vladimir Putin are not Joe Stalins. Putin, however, is
not an American. He is among the most Russian of Russians.
Putin will be 61 on
October 7 and has served 13 years as either President or Prime Minister
of the Russian Federation, the ninth most populous country in the world
with 144 million people, and the largest country in the world geographically.
Vladimir Vladimirovich
Putin was born in 1952 in Leningrad, now known by its original name
of St. Petersburg. His parents were Vladimir Spirodonovich Putin (1911-1999)
and Maria Ivanova Putina (1911-1998). His father was a Navy veteran
and served in the NKVD (state security police) during World War II.
He is said to have been a dedicated communist and militant atheist.
He later held some minor offices in the Communist Party. His mother,
a factory worker, however, was a devout Russian Orthodox believer, who
had the young Vladimir secretly christened in the Russian Orthodox Church.
She regularly attended services and took her son with her despite the
strong persecution of the Communist Soviet government. Her husband knew
this but did not report it to Communist Party officials. Besides Putin’s
paternal grandfather, Spirodon Putin, who was a cook in one of Lenin’s
country residences, nothing is known of his ancestry. The Putin surname
is a mystery.
Putin attended local
school number 193 near his family commune apartment in Leningrad. He
did not seem particularly interested in school until the sixth grade,
when he began to admire the intelligence officers in popular Soviet
movies. Because of this he also took up the sport of Judo, which he
practices to this day.
In 1975, Putin graduated
from the Law Department of Leningrad State University and received a
Ph.D. in Economics. His Dissertation was titled “The Strategic Planning
of Regional Resources Under the Formation of Market Relations.” Perhaps
no subject could have been more providentially influential on his career,
which would transition from Soviet Communism to increasing capitalism
in 1991.
Following graduation
from the University, he became a junior officer in the KGB (Committee
for State Security), the Soviet agency for internal security, intelligence,
and secret police. His job mostly concerned monitoring internal security
risks. The latter years of his work with the KGB were spent in East
Germany, but he returned to Leningrad after the collapse of the Communist
East German government. Putin speaks fluent German as well as Russian.
After 16 years with the KGB he resigned and retired with the rank of
Lt. Col. to pursue a political career in Leningrad. A strong reason
for this change, however, was that he disagreed with the KGB plot to
overthrow the reformer Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev. Putin’s reputation
as a KGB bad guy is exaggerated. He identified with the reformers, and
this was later viewed favorably by President Yeltsin and other reformers.
Putin’s years as Russian
President from 1999 through 2008 were a spectacular economic success,
using policies much closer to Reagan capitalism than Soviet Communism.
He persuaded the Federal Assembly to pass new tax laws including a flat
13 percent income tax and reduced profits taxes. The Russian economy’s
real GDP growth was 72 percent in 8 years. From 1999 to 2008, real income
increased by 2.5 fold, real wages more than tripled, and poverty more
than halved. Recognizing, however, the amount of control that Putin
has exercised from the top, some have called his policies, “state
capitalism.” Putin plans to make Russia’s oil and gas resources
a major factor in making Russia into an economic superpower. According
to Thomas White International analysts, Putin’s success is attributable
to “good macroeconomic management, important fiscal reforms, increasing
capital inflow, access to low-cost external financing, and a five-fold
increase in the price of oil and gas, which constitute the majority
of Russia’s exports.
Putin’s high public
approval polls, ranging as high as 81 percent and never yet below 62
percent, are principally the result of economic policies that have increased
real living standards in Russia by substantial degrees.
Putin has also pursued
a consciously macho public image campaign. Putin is 5 foot seven inches
tall (170.1 cm). His weight is a state secret, but it is obvious
that he is remarkably fit for a man nearing 61. He is a Judo champion,
and his photo ops often exhibit his bare-chested fitness riding horses,
fishing, and doing manly outdoor work.
Vladimir Putin and Lyudmila
Putina, his wife of 30 years, announced jointly on June 13 of this year
that they are having a “civilized divorce.” Not much has ever been
known of Vladimir Putin’s home and family life. His daughters Marinya
(28) and Yekaterina (27) have never been photographed by the press.
Vladimir Putin is a formidable political leader and an enigmatic mystery.
He should never be underestimated. His ambition is primarily to advance
Russia.
Obama: ‘Gun Control—We Had 80, 90% of the Country That Agreed With It’

Obama's Twilight Zone
Appearing on ABC News’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” on Sunday, President Barack Obama said he had 80 to 90 percent of the country agreeing with him in favor of gun control, but the he could not get gun-control legislation enacted because of a “faction of the Republican Party.”
Obama made the observation about the supermajority of Americans he believes favor “gun control” when Stephanopoulos asked him why the issues he had chosen to focus on at the beginning of his second term seem to have stalled.

Gun lunacy rides high in America
Via avordvet
Idiot.
Just when one might have thought that lunacy over gun policy in the U.S. cannot be exceeded, think again.
In the wake of the
Newtown massacre, Colorado adopted a universal background check system
and a modest restriction on the size of high-capacity magazines. This
was good news for everyone except gun sellers who don't want the sales
to felons and the insane to dry up (and those who think what for most
purchasers would be a five-minute background check is too much of an
imposition).
Since gun sellers call
the shots at the NRA, the lobbying group launched an effort to punish
Colorado legislators who stood up for public safety over gun seller
profits. Now, two thoughtful Colorado legislators have been recalled and
the NRA is crowing at having exercised its muscle once again.
Other states are trying to up the ante. Only last week, Iowa highlighted the nonsense by offering concealed carry permits to blind individuals.

UTAS 15 Round Bullpup Pump Shotgun – KSG Killer? UTS-15 – New Gun Review
UTAS-USA
http://www.utas-usa.com/
Any new gun in the market should face extreme scrutiny. This is particularly true of a new design, and even more so of a new concept, engineered into a new design. Back in 2011 we got our first look at a bullpup 15 round pump shotgun in the form of the Kel-Tec KSG. At the time, most gunwriters who got one were elated with the gun, including us. But part of that elation was that this entirely new concept had come from Kel-Tec, an American company that had already pulled off groundbreaking products like the PMR-30 and another bullpup, the .308 caliber RFB rifle. Nothing about the KSG was a disappointment. The engineering made sense, and the gun worked fabulously.
This year a new 15 round bullpup came into the market called the UTS-15 from UTAS-USA. It has the magazine tubes on the top instead of the bottom like the KSG. It has a built in flashlight/laser combo, and it says “Made in USA” on the gun, though UTAS is a Turkish company. We were finally able to get our hands on one this week, and like any other newly designed mechanical device, there are positives and negatives to the gun. Overall it worked well, but we did have some light strikes and mis-feeds. Understanding the differences between the UTS-15 and the KSG will be a big part of deciding which gun to try to buy.

More musings of a Liberty Junkie

“In Search of Mr. Jefferson’s Liberty” ended
with a contention that “consent” defines our personal status in
relation to government and liberty. This essay explores the meaning and
consequence of “consent”.
Our US Declaration of Independence says: “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…” Consent plays a critical role in defining social and political order.
Both the North Carolina Constitution of 1776 and our current Constitution of 1971 rely on “consent” as their source for authority: “The people of this State shall not be taxed or made subject to the payment of any impost or duty without the consent of themselves or their representatives in the General Assembly, freely given.”
Webster’s dictionary of 1828 defines consent as (1) A yielding of the mind or will to that which is proposed, (2) To yield what one has the power, the right, or the disposition to withhold, or refuse to grant. We use this word where power, rights, and claims are concerned. Consent often amounts to permission.
The philosophical appeal of consent theory is that it captures our nature as autonomous moral beings. Consent is an essential element in the delivery of justice under maxims of common law; e.g. “No man has the right to force an obligation on another with impunity.” Consent denies that force or coercion, conquest or de facto power as such, can place upon us any moral obligation.
Most of the abuses and usurpations of government can be traced to consent, often acquired by dubious means. The most insidious of the “dubious means” is the presumption that “free acceptance of benefits” grants an implied consent.
A legal contract is established whenever a benefit is accepted from government. Once you enter into a contract for defined benefit (protection and/or payment from the public treasury) you have ‘consented’ to be bound by the legislative jurisdiction and civil statutes of the state.
Citizens surrender unalienable rights in exchange for the privilege to exercise a limited political liberty, e.g. voting, jury duty, public office. “Rights … affirmed in the Constitution … (are) restricted … to the extent that they have been voluntarily surrendered by the citizenship to agencies of the government“. [City of Dallas v Mitchell (1922)]
The ‘vehicles of entrapment’ are the abundance of seemingly innocuous government ‘application’ forms: Taxpayer ID; Registration of births, marriages and land deeds; Social Security (FICA); Medicare.
Consent transforms property from Private to Public. A warranty deed is a conditional title in “fee simple”; a contract of feudal obligation. The term “real estate” means land recognized and regulated in government statutes. It became “real” in the jurisdiction of government, converted from ‘private’ to ‘public’ status, through consent implied by the act of registering a deed.
Eradication of all private property ownership was accomplished by reducing the status at law of the individual (via pauperization – FICA), and by eliminating lawful money from circulation (FDR 1933). Ownership is converted to ‘user’, and property subject to ‘rent’. Citizen-paupers receive benefits in the form of charity through entitlement programs which are ‘gifts from the public treasury’.
Once individual Americans lacked standing and could not alienate title with lawful money, all property purchased with worthless notes (Federal Reserve) was no longer held by right, but by privilege, subject to taxation and regulation. Since the New Deal, government has maintained a “creditor” relationship with regard to its “debtor” citizens.
Consent transforms liberty from Rights to Privileges. In a similar fashion to the conversion of property, all rights become conditional upon an agreement to receive benefits. The resulting privileges are subject to statute and regulation. This transformation is the reason that law enforcement and lawyers are able to say: “no rights are absolute”.
A right to travel is converted into a regulated privilege to drive a vehicle. Building permits are required for improvement on property not under mortgage or lien. Privilege licenses are necessary for business transactions between individuals. Carry permits are mandated for concealed weapons despite a 2nd Amendment protection that “shall not be infringed”.
Consent transforms life from Sovereign to Slave. When a private person becomes a citizen, s/he becomes a corporate officer of the government. Life itself is treated as indentured servitude, an asset of the state. This has dire consequences which manifest in such legislative obscenities as the income tax and the recent healthcare “tax on your life” (Obamacare).
Consent converts a “private person” into a corporate officer of the government; an entity subject to legislative jurisdiction and regulation.
Transformation is not a new phenomenon in America, it has accompanied our evolution from common law into statutory civil law. Progressive government in the 20th and 21st centuries merely accelerated positive law and affirmative legislation which has its roots in the early 19th century.
Property, liberty and life itself are held conditional to the needs of society. In granting consent, rights become subordinate first to society and then to the tyranny of a majority via democratic legislative process. Over time, rights disappear and privileges become arbitrary.
Jefferson’s world was one of absolutes: a sovereign God; a sovereign man created in God’s image; absolute and unalienable rights to life, liberty, and property. Religion provided moral guidance for interactions among men and common law provided the means to address “harm” and “damage”.
Rightful Liberty stands in bold contrast to the social philosophy of governments and their citizen-slaves. The fundamental purpose of government, to protect rights, is invalidated by the actions that accomplish social control. Consent has alienated the very rights that government was established to protect and defend.
What does this mean for our efforts to restore society and government to the principles of our country’s founding?
In the state of nature we had the power to do whatever it took to preserve our lives, our natural rights, and our property. We also had the right to punish those who violated the law of nature: this stemmed directly from the law of self-preservation.
Once consent to be governed has been granted, one cannot exercise absolute and unalienable rights. One can only ask permission to use qualified and conditional privileges that mock the memory of Rightful Liberty.
When social restrictions become intolerable, as they always will, there is no real recourse within a system enabled by your consent.
You cannot ‘elect’ a solution to the problems of social control and restricted liberty via polls when the root cause is your own consent …
You must withdraw consent and return to Rightful Liberty.

Several killed in shooting at Navy facility
***********************
A gunman opened fire Monday at the Washington Navy Yard — killing at least four people and wounding at least six more, including a security guard and a city police officer, authorities said.
The shooter was believed to be wounded, authorities told NBC News, and crews were combing the facility to make sure there were no other gunmen.
It was not clear whether the gunman was civilian or military.
The suspect has been described as a black male dressed in all black, carrying an “assault rifle” and a double-barreled shotgun.
A woman who gave her name as Terry Durham said a fire alarm went off, and as she and co-workers were evacuating, she saw a man down the hall raise a rifle and fire toward them, hitting a wall. “He was tall. He appeared to be dark-skinned,” she told WJLA-TV.
“He was a tall black guy,” said her co-worker, Todd Brundidge, who is black. “He didn’t say a word. He aimed the gun and fired our way, I couldn’t believe it.”
People frantically tried to run out of the building, Brundidge said.
