NC: Hundreds of gun parts seized from Cary home

Via safetalker

According to a search warrant made public Tuesday, investigators suspect a Cary woman of dealing in hundreds of counterfeit gun parts.

The warrant says the investigation began March 11 with a routine search of packages coming in from China at a DHL hub warehouse in Morrisville.

An investigator with the North Carolina Secretary of State's office was assisting Homeland Security with the search when an inspection of three packages addressed to a home in Cary were found with sights inside for AR-15 rifles.

The sights were marked with the A.R.M.S. brand name, but when investigators checked with A.R.M.S., they were told the parts are fakes.

CMOH Winner Tom Baker: Impressive is an understatement.

Via Daily Timewaster

As I commented on the above site: "Wow and why I never read fiction! Thanks. I read another on an outside bulletin board in Vietnam which impressed me similarly. Too bad I didn't take a photo or write down the name."

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty at Saipan, Mariana Islands, 19 June to 7 July 1944.
When his entire company was held up by fire from automatic weapons and small-arms fire from strongly fortified enemy positions that commanded the view of the company, Sgt. (then Pvt.) Baker voluntarily took a bazooka and dashed alone to within 100 yards of the enemy.
Through heavy rifle and machinegun fire that was directed at him by the enemy, he knocked out the strong point, enabling his company to assault the ridge.
Some days later while his company advanced across the open field flanked with obstructions and places of concealment for the enemy, Sgt. Baker again voluntarily took up a position in the rear to protect the company against surprise attack and came upon 2 heavily fortified enemy pockets manned by 2 officers and 10 enlisted men which had been bypassed.
Without regard for such superior numbers, he unhesitatingly attacked and killed all of them. Five hundred yards farther, he discovered 6 men of the enemy who had concealed themselves behind our lines and destroyed all of them. On 7 July 1944, the perimeter of which Sgt. Baker was a part was attacked from 3 sides by from 3,000 to 5,000 Japanese. During the early stages of this attack, Sgt. Baker was seriously wounded but he insisted on remaining in the line and fired at the enemy at ranges sometimes as close as 5 yards until his ammunition ran out.
Without ammunition and with his own weapon battered to uselessness from hand-to-hand combat, he was carried about 50 yards to the rear by a comrade, who was then himself wounded. At this point Sgt. Baker refused to be moved any farther stating that he preferred to be left to die rather than risk the lives of any more of his friends.
A short time later, at his request, he was placed in a sitting position against a small tree . Another comrade, withdrawing, offered assistance. Sgt. Baker refused, insisting that he be left alone and be given a soldier’s pistol with its remaining 8 rounds of ammunition.
When last seen alive, Sgt. Baker was propped against a tree, pistol in hand, calmly facing the foe. Later Sgt. Baker’s body was found in the same position, gun empty, with 8 Japanese lying dead before him. His deeds were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Army.

"Submission is slavery"

http://images.betterworldbooks.com/116/Zebulon-B-Vance-as-War-Governor-of-North-Carolina-1862-65-Yates-Richard-E-9781163191996.jpg

In answer to a letter suggesting that North Carolina negotiate a peace with the North in August1863, Governor Zebulon Vance replied that “the terms of the North were, lay down your arms & submit, the terms of the South -- leave us alone.” He added, “What would be the result of submission?....the confiscation of our property, the hanging of enough of our principal citizens to sate the Northern appetite for slaughter….and a public debt greater than that of any nation on earth – in short, the fate of the conquered….is what we should expect.”
Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman
North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission
"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Submission is Slavery:

A Northern student of the war once said to me, “If the Southern people had been of a statistical turn, there would have been no secession, there would have been no war.” But there were men enough of a statistical turn in the South to warn the people against the enormous expense of independence, just as there are men enough of a statistical turn in Italy to remind the Italians of the enormous cost of national unity.

“Counting the cost” is in things temporal the only wise course, as in the building of a tower; but there are times in the life of an individual, of a people, when the things that are eternal force themselves into the calculation, and the abacus is nowhere.

“Neither count I my life dear unto myself” is a sentiment that does not enter into the domain of statistics.  To us submission meant slavery, as it did to Pericles and the Athenians; as it did to the great historian of Greece, who had learned this lesson from the [Peloponnesian] war, and who took sides with the Southern States, to the great dismay of his fellow radicals, who could not see, as George Grote saw, the real point at issue in the controversy.

Submission is slavery, and the bitterest taunt in the vocabulary of those who advocated secession was “submissionist.” But where does submission begin? That is a matter which must be decided by the sovereign; and on the theory that the States are sovereign, each State must be the judge.

Pemmican: The Original MRE

Via Ol' Remus

Invented by the natives of North America, pemmican is the original MRE.

Pemmican was used by indian scouts as well as early western explorers as an instant, ready-to-eat, high-energy food. It was light, compact and high in protein, good carbohydrates, and sustaining fats.

Given the incredible amount of concentrated nutrients and calories, pemmican would be a fantastic addition to any bug-out bag

During my college years, my friend and I would use this (in addition to any wild edibles we found) as a primary trail food when doing extended “survival trips” during our southern-Utah explorations.
As an embarrassing side note, most of those times were spent barefoot while wearing only loin cloths (yeah, I know…we were indian wannabes at the time). In one way it was a good thing because it forced us to pay attention. We sure as heck made sure we saw anyone who we came across first before they saw us. This gave us time to fade into the bush and let them pass by. ;)
So anyways, back to pemmican…

Based on personal experience, pemmican is very sustaining and I found it far superior to any MRE or other trail food out there. It not only provides a lot of energy in a small package, it will also keep for many years.

In this article, I’ll be showing you how you can make your own pemmican

When was the last time a criminal submitted himself to a background check to buy a gun?   In fact, the 5th Amendment releases them from having to go through them! Don't believe me? Read the Supreme Court case Haynes vs. U.S. (1968), where the Court ruled that convicted felons have a Constitutional right to not register a gun, because to register a gun would be self-incrimination! Only people that aren't criminals can be punished for not registering. If the criminals aren't required to register, but you and I are, why bother passing so-called universal background checks?

Serbu Firearms Refuses To Sell .50 Cal Sniper Rifles To NYPD

 bfg50a_white

Back in February I informed you that several gun makers and those that sell them had decided to boycott selling to law enforcement in states that were putting forth legislation hostile to the Second Amendment. Within a week, that number had grown by over 700%. Now word is that Serbu Firearms, a manufacturer of bolt-action and semi-automatic .50 caliber sniper rifles, will not be selling their arms to the New York Police Department. The reason is obvious, New York’s unconstitutional SAFE Act.

The company’s founder, Mark Serbu, posted on the company’s Facebook page an email exchange between himself and a NYPD-FTS. The officer said that he was “assigned to the NYPD Firearms and Tactics Section. I have been directed to research a new semi-automatic .50 caliber platform for my department.”

Update: Victory for Florida Student Who Refused to Stomp on Jesus’ Name

Liberty Institute is declaring victory on behalf of our client, Ryan Rotela.

Late yesterday afternoon, Liberty Institute Director of Litigation Hiram Sasser attended a closed-door meeting with Ryan and university officials. In addition to apologizing on the university’s website, the officials apologized in person, agreed not to take any further action against Ryan, will expunge all academic charges from his student records, and will allow him to take the course under the supervision of an alternate professor.

The Florida Atlantic University student refused to take part in a “lesson” that involved writing the name “Jesus” on a piece of paper, putting the paper on the floor, and stomping on it.

Ryan was brought up on academic charges and suspended from class out of retaliation for reporting the incident to university authorities.

“We are thankful that the University has conceded and done the right thing, so that our client can continue pursuing his education without distraction,” said Sasser. Decades ago, the Supreme Court ruled that students do not leave their First Amendment rights at the schoolhouse gate…that is still true today.”

Thank you for your prayers and generous financial support. It is because of you that we were able to act so quickly and defend Ryan’s religious freedoms. Please, consider a gift today, to help us continue to defend students like Ryan across the country who are facing religious hostility. Every gift is critical in our continued effort to defend and restore religious freedom in America.

Operation PLUTO

Via Tom

United News Newsreel Operation Pluto (Pipe-Lines Under The Ocean) was a World War II operation by British scientists, oil companies and armed forces to construct undersea oil pipelines under the English Channel between England and France. The scheme was developed by Arthur Hartley, chief engineer with the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. Allied forces on the European continent required a tremendous amount of fuel.

Pipelines were considered necessary to relieve dependence on oil tankers, which could be slowed by bad weather, were susceptible to German submarines, and were also needed in the Pacific War. Geoffrey William Lloyd, the Minister for Petroleum, met Admiral Mountbatten, Chief of Combined Operations, whose area this was, in 1942 and then the Chairman of Anglo-Iranian. Hartley's idea of using adapted submarine telephone cable was adopted.

Recon, Raid and Ambush

Via avordvet

 http://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/rtb/Graduates/images/12-92.jpg

I don't know if my perception is skewed by what I read, but it seems to me that a lot of people in the Liberty movement believe that conducting light infantry style operations will be something that comes naturally. I think that this is a dangerous and foolish notion on both a tactical and strategic level.  Scotland would be free if Scots could work together beyond the clan level.

In Ranger School you really only do three missions.  Recon an objective, conduct a Raid on an objective, conduct an Ambush along a line of communication (which means road or trail).

That is it.

But you will do a Recon as a leader, as a rifleman, as a grenadier, as a SAW gunner, as a machine gunner pulling security.  You will do a raid as a Platoon leader, squad leader, platoon sergeant, team leader, RTO and Medic.  You will do an ambush and learn every damn job in the platoon until you can do it when you are so tired you have auditory and visual hallucinations.

Don't get the wrong impression, there are a thousand things that can go wrong conducting the basics, and a gajillion different variations on the themes (do your air assault in or use a zodiac?  or both?) but what it boiled down to is simply conduct a recon, raid, or ambush.

Here is what a raid looked like if whittled down to the absolute minimum.

‘Great Recession’ Gives Way to ‘Grand Illusion’

Despite a $1 trillion expansion of America’s money supply and the “most stimulative fiscal policy” in history, the U.S. economy has actually continued to decline over the last three years, according to U.S. News & World Report chief Mortimer Zuckerman.

“The Great Recession is an apt name for America's current stagnation, but the present phase might also be called the Grand Illusion — because the happy talk and statistics that go with it, especially regarding jobs, give a rosier picture than the facts justify,” penned Zuckerman, in an article published Monday in The Wall Street Journal.

After 2.4 percent annual growth rates in gross domestic product both in 2010 and 2011, the economy slowed to 1.5 percent growth in 2012, said Zuckernman, who noted that the cumulative growth for the past 12 quarters was just 6.3 percent, which amounts to the slowest of all 11 recessions since World War II.

“The country isn't really advancing, By comparison with earlier recessions, it is going backward,” said Zuckerman.

CBS Poll: Support for Tougher Gun Control Slips

Backing for new gun-control laws is slipping as more time elapses following the Newtown, Conn., shootings in December, according to a new CBS News poll.

The survey of 1,181 adults, conducted March 20-24, shows that 47 percent of Americans think gun laws should be more strict, 11 percent say they should be loosened, and 39 percent say they should be left as they are.

The 47 percent who favor tougher laws represents a 10-point drop from the 57 percent who said the same thing in the days just after the Dec. 14 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School left 20 children and six educators dead.

Pro-immigration organizations spending $1.5 billion to push for amnesty and more legal immigration

Via Matthew

With Congress once again slouching toward immigration reform, it makes sense to look for who is lobbying lawmakers to shape the coming legislation.

As it turns out, while Americans remain divided on immigration, the lobbyists are not.

The Sunlight Foundation, a do-gooder government transparency and accountability outfit formed in 2006, on Monday released "Untangling the Webs of immigration Lobbying," a report examining the organizations that have led the charge for changing the rules on immigration to the United States.

Sunlight dug through 8,000 lobbying reports filed since the last big push for immigration reform in 2007. Six-thousand seven-hundred and twelve of those involved immigration lobbying. More than $1.5 billion was spent on this immense lobbying push.

The report lists which business sectors were the most active lobbyists. The chart here lists the sector, the total of immigration related bills lobbied upon, and the top two issues. Click here for more explanation of the chart from Sunlight.

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.): Probe ‘rat’s nest’ in DOJ civil rights shop

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) on Monday called for an outside independent panel to investigate the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.

Wolf, in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, said a recent inspector general report raised numerous troubling instances of internal mismanagement that he said indicate the division “has become a rat’s nest of unacceptable and unprofessional actions.”

“One cannot read the report without concluding that the division has suffered systemic mismanagement,” said Wolf in his letter sent Monday. “It has become a rat’s nest of unacceptable and unprofessional actions, and even outright threats against career attorneys and systemic mismanagement.”

The DOJ’s inspector general found numerous examples of harassment in the department's voting rights division, but determined it did not prioritize cases in a partisan manner under President Obama or former President George W. Bush.

The lengthy report found that the often divisive nature of the voting rights section’s work — including reviews of redistricting cases, voter ID laws and voter registration issues — resulted in instances of harassment within DOJ.

Administration moves $500M in Palestinian aid, as agencies scramble to delay furloughs

As federal agencies scramble to avert or delay sequester-tied furloughs, the Obama administration continues to spend millions of dollars on foreign aid to the Palestinians – and seek millions more, despite past efforts by Congress to freeze the money.

The State Department confirmed this month the administration has moved forward with $500 million in aid, and is trying to secure another $200 million from Congress. Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland says the aid is important, because an “economically viable Palestinian Authority” would help regional peace and security.

The administration confirmed the transfers as President Obama, along with Secretary of State John Kerry, toured the Middle East last week. Obama met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, as well as top Israeli officials.

But lawmakers have heavily scrutinized a number of foreign aid transactions, given the fiscal crunch facing Washington. The capital was awash last week with memos and updates from federal agencies scrambling to manage sequester cuts and cushion their staff from the impact of furloughs.

Tor and all electronic privacy tool warning

 to_project_main

One of the reasons I started the Charles Carroll Society was to get the word out as I see it.  I have submitted this information to various websites but again the warning was not published.  Recently some additional information has come to my attention and I wanted to share it and warn you about trusting any online privacy products and especially Tor. Many liberty websites suggest using Tor.

“Tor, in case you don’t keep up with internet security and obscurity, is a network of nodes that randomize your path through the internet, making it harder to track what sites and services you use. ” Tor is a method of hiding your IP address while browsing the Internet.  It is supposedly design to give you some privacy while communicating and reading on the Internet.

I have some information for people who use the Tor Over-net system.  Tor was a DAPRA project.  DAPRA is one of the Department of Defense (DOD) research arms.  It is where they come up with great ideas to … make the DOD and intelligence communities better.  One of the primary agencies who worked with DAPRA to create Tor was the Office of Naval Research (ONR).  There is some suggestions that the entire Tor system is an  Intel honey-trap, even if it is not, it might be less secure than just browsing and here is why.

One of the most difficult things to do for the people who feel they have the right to listen to every conversation, is to figure out which conversation (on the Internet) to listen too.  There is so much traffic they don’t know which blogs to follow, and which information is “important.”  The large blogs, like Survivalblog.com are of course tracked, but the Charles Carroll Society?  Maybe not, why not?  Because they may not know about it (yet).  How can the Shadow community easily find the information they should focus on?  Well, let’s get users to self-identify information we want to track.
