** Luke Combs shares ways to honor southern heritage without a Confederate flag. (Pretty lame way. He has come under fire for being seen around Confederate flags. He should just tell detractors where to go.)
** Luke Combs' Confederate flag apology sparks discourse among country fans. (There have not been many black country music artists, just like there have not been many white rap, soul urban artists. However, watching all the black country artists performing on CMT, I'm beginning to wonder. But country does have the late great Charley Pride and Darius Rucker.)
** University buildings in Virginia once named after Confederates now honour African Americans. (James Madison University. Why must all renamings be for Blacks? Aren't there any whites who deserve names on buildings? From the Washington Post -- and we know where they stand on these issues. The Post points out that the school is named for the country's 4th president who also owned you-know-what. Guess what the Post would like to happen? Welcome Woke University East or the Harriett Tubman University.)

American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America by Colin Woodard; ISBN: 978-0-14-312202-9, Penguin, September 25, 2012, 384 pages.
American Nations is simply the most brilliant book I have ever read on American history. Almost every page is compact with some idea that overthrows “what every schoolboy knows,” and like every original and seminal book, it flows from a single powerful idea – in Woodard’s case, the idea that an American Union never existed. There are no “mystic chords of memory” swelling the chorus of Union except in the bombast of Lincoln’s rhetoric; there is no happily jiggered tumult of democracy pace Howard Zinn, where everyone eventually votes to slice off his chunk of the commonwealth; there is no “melting pot”; no “American exceptionalism”; no “propositional nation.” Woodard states at the outset:
There isn’t and never has been one America, but rather several Americas. (p2)]]

Washington and Lee University wants to scrub Lee's name
Last summer
80% of the Washington and Lee University faculty voted to remove Lee
from the institution’s name. The school has not yet made a decision but
presumably will not wait long.

Administration has been providing Internet presentations, which we
believe are too critical of Lee. Most significant among them during the
past five months are lectures by Allen Guelzo and Ty Seidule. The one by
Seidule is obnoxious as you can see from this YouTube video he did for the Association of the United States Army earlier this month.
Their
accusations should be answered. Therefore, the Abbeville Institute is
seeking donations of $7000 to finance production of a six minute video
by Phil Leigh like the one he did here on Confederate statues.
After watching Seidule’s video linked above we trust you will agree that this is a battle we must fight.

MAGA Marches Forward as Former Trump Officials Seek Office
Several former “America First” officials are considering bids for political office, as former President Trump will soon begin screening 2022 midterm candidates who are eager to forward MAGA policies.
Formal meetings with prospects could begin as early as March, according to Breitbart News.
Among those eying a run are Cliff Sims, the former deputy at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI); former Ambassador to Slovenia Lynda Blanchard, a top Trump donor; former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell; former White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders; former campaign adviser Katrina Pierson; and former White House aide Max Miller.

SCOTUS scoots past Penn. election law case

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a handful of cases related to the 2020 election, including disputes from Pennsylvania that had deeply divided the justices just before the election.

What seems clear is that Biden’s inauguration marks the hegemony of an American oligarchy that sees its relationship with China as a shield and sword against their own countrymen. Like Athens’ Thirty Tyrants, they are not simply contemptuous of a political system that recognizes the natural rights of all its citizens that are endowed by our creator; they despise in particular the notion that those they rule have the same rights they do.
In three options for how a conquering power might best treat those it has defeated in war. The first is to ruin them; the second is to rule directly; the third is to create “therein a state of the few which might keep it friendly to you.”
The example Machiavelli gives of the last is the friendly government Sparta established in Athens upon defeating it after 27 years of war in 404 BCE. For the upper caste of an Athenian elite already contemptuous of democracy, the city’s defeat in the Peloponnesian War confirmed that Sparta’s system was preferable. It was a high-spirited military aristocracy ruling over a permanent servant class, the helots, who were periodically slaughtered to condition them to accept their subhuman status. Athenian democracy by contrast gave too much power to the low-born. The pro-Sparta oligarchy used their patrons’ victory to undo the rights of citizens, and settle scores with their domestic rivals, exiling and executing them and confiscating their wealth.
