Appalachian State University students must walk past a “privilege board” denouncing their white, male, able-bodied, Christian, or cisgender privilege any time they enter the Student Union.

The bulletin board is located in Plemmons Student Union (PSU), which the school calls “the centerpiece of the Appalachian campus,” and was apparently put up by a student group last semester, but has been allowed to remain in place to date.

“This makes me wanna go to my safe space!”  

The bulletin board features fliers from the “Check Your Privilege” campaign started by professors at the University of San Francisco, and features memes with phrases such as “Look at all the privileges I haven’t checked.”

According to mayor Bernd Pohlers of the eastern town of Saxony Waldenburg, the asylum seekers refused to accept the work that was offered to them after they arrived in the country.

The local council spent £600 arranging for the men to have uniforms but were stunned when they were told they would not complete it because they were "guests of Angela Merkel".

The post-disaster politicking got under way in earnest on Friday, as Donald Trump appeared in flood-stricken Louisiana to give his image a presidential burnish, and as the White House announced Barack Obama would tour the area next Tuesday.

 A day earlier Louisiana’s governor, John Bel Edwards, had warned Trump not to show up in Louisiana “for a photo op”. Instead, he said, Trump should volunteer and make donations.

Edwards also defended the delayed visit by Obama, who has come under heavy criticism locally for not interrupting his vacation to come tour the disaster area.

The photo opportunity is a time-honored political maneuver after a natural disaster, and Trump put his own spin on it, traveling with an 18-wheel transfer truck full of supplies to hand out to crowds.

NC Guns: National hysteria hits home

On Saturday afternoon, while I sat in a funeral home chapel in Virginia, my phone vibrated softly in my shirt pocket.

About 45 minutes later, I walked out of the chapel and looked at the message from my wife to our entire family. There were reports of a shooting at Crabtree Valley Mall. She was warning our daughters, both now college students in Raleigh, to steer clear of that part of Glenwood Avenue.

I scrolled through my emails and saw email after email from colleagues at The News & Observer reporting bits and pieces of the story as they were learning them.

Another group of people at the N& O office were putting together the pieces in order to put a coherent story together for the website. People who were normally off on Saturday afternoon came into the office or went to the scene to help report the story.

As it turns out, there was no shooting. No one was hurt by gunfire (though some were hurt in the very real rush to get out of the mall.) Police say they aren’t sure what the noise was that several people reported hearing.

Ivanka Trump has been fervently campaigning for her father Donald, but the savvy businesswoman inadvertently donated money to his opponent Hillary Clinton when she purchased an ear cuff from an indie jewelry brand worn by Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Selena Gomez. 

After the 34-year-old ordered an $84 gold Helix Ear Cuff from Lady Grey Jewelry's website, the brand's co-founders and designers, Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader, took to the company's Instagram page on Tuesday to share a photo of the handwritten note they had sent to Ivanka.

The publicly shared message revealed that the jewelry designers donated the proceeds of the sale to various organizations, including the Hillary Clinton campaign, and while some fans admired their moxie, others accused them of being 'unprofessional' and 'tactless'.

Bombshell: Clinton Foundation Witnesses Coming Forward In Pay-For-Play Investigation

Today, New York Times Bestselling author Ed Klein has revealed on The Sean Hannity Show that sources have confirmed to him that not only is The Clinton Foundation under federal investigation, but also at least one Clinton Foundation insider is prepared to testify in a court of law against Hillary.

Reports of legal troubles for the foundation began last week when The Daily Caller reported that a joint FBI-US Attorney probe of The Clinton Foundation is currently underway. The charge is supported by a number of emails recently released by Judicial Watch, which suggest The Clinton Foundation engaged in pay-for-play while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State.

"We are a long way from Hillary Clinton sliding into The White House without having some real serious legal problems before this election," Klein told Hannity.

Hillary Campaign Vows To Destroy Breitbart

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign has sent out a fundraising email arguing the website Breitbart News has no “right to exist,” and suggests that if elected, the website will be shut down entirely.

“We’ve had a conservative media in this country for a while,” says the email, sent Thursday and signed by deputy communications director Christina Reynolds. “I don’t always like what they have to say, but I respect their role and their right to exist Reynolds’ acknowledgment that the regular conservative media has a *“right to exist,” though, is used to contrast it with Breitbart, which apparently has no such right.

*She should go to Vietnam and try that with a government entity and see how it works out. :)

Earlier this week, I showed how the reporting on a Bloomberg poll could be skewed to make results look more or less positive for a given candidate.

Today, we look at a Washington Post/ABC News poll that also purports to show a widening Clinton lead over Trump – by 8 points: 50% to 42%. This may well be the case. However, looking at the poll sample numbers, there’s some relevant context not reported in news stories.
