The ultimate irony is that African slaves certainly knew who forced their ancestors to endure the infamous Middle Passage to America. It was England, and later New England — the transatlantic slave trade operated by the fathers and grandfathers of their new abolitionist friends. How could the African now trust the descendants of those who carried them in chains from slavery in Africa to slavery in America?

The brigadier-general commanding recurs with great satisfaction to the conduct of his troops in their late battle, and desires to convey to them in the most public manner his full appreciation of their courage on that well-contested field.  Against superior numbers holding a position by themselves, you were all but successful. For four hours you stood face to face with the enemy; and when the battle ended, and it ceased only with night, you sent him cheers of defiance. In your repulse there was perhaps misfortune, but neither disaster nor disgrace; and every officer and soldier may remember with just pride that he fought at Olustee.” By order of, Brigadier-General [Truman] Seymour”
As described above by Brigadier-General Truman Seymour, commanding the Northern forces at Olustee, also known as the battle at Ocean Pond at the South, his troops fought admirably though overpowered by more numerous Southern forces. Olustee is about 40 miles west of Jacksonville, Florida.

The Economy, Stupid

 

Just as the Earth revolves on its axis each day and travels around the Sun in an equally regular pattern, so has world history tended to be cyclical in nature throughout the centuries, with many episodes seemingly being repeated countless times over.  In many cases the basic cause behind such recurring cataclysmic events as war, radical changes in political systems or the fall of nations and empires has involved economics.  A current example of the latter is the financial dilemma which now threatens to bring about the economic, if not the total, collapse of the European Union . . . namely where to find the more than eighty billion dollars in revenue that will be lost due to the United Kingdom’s secession from the Union.  A similar economic situation had faced Great Britain itself almost two and a half centuries earlier on the other side of the Atlantic.  At that time, thirteen of its major colonies, with a cry of “no taxation without representation,” declared their independence, seceded from the British Empire and joined together to form the United States of America.  Faced with the loss of a vast source of the revenue needed to fill coffers drained by its seemingly endless wars with France, Great Britain opted to wage war on its own colonies.

Opinion: Be Ready, Diagnosed Cases of Wuhan Virus Likely to Skyrocket Next Week, but That’s Not All Bad

 

Right now, the numbers are still relatively low for those who have been diagnosed with the Wuhan virus.

But get ready for it now, because when many more tests are readily available next week, the numbers are likely to skyrocket.

There are few things that are important to take in because while that’s not great, there actually are some good things in that rising number.

First, there have likely been thousands who had early exposure in places like Washington state that we didn’t know about because China lied for the first couple of months and people from Wuhan were still traveling abroad. Many likely had it/or have it but since most people who get it, have it only mildly, many may not even be aware they have it.

Rep. Steve King on Whistleblower Philip Haney’s Death: Investigation Should Reveal the Truth About ‘Patriot’s’ Murder

 

Since former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) staffer Philip Haney, who blew the whistle on the Obama administration allegedly scrubbing the intelligence on radical Islamists in the United States, was found dead from a shotgun wound to the chest, those who knew him are convinced he was murdered.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA), told Breitbart News that Haney was a good friend who had confided in him that he had enemies who wanted to stop his revelations before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2016, and that his upcoming book, See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad, would “name names.”

King said the first time he met Haney he was wearing a thumb drive on a lanyard around his neck that King believes contained the data that was scrubbed from his DHS hard drive. 

“I would bet the farm on that,” King told Breitbart News.

Marines thrilled with 'major advantage' offered by M320A1 grenade launcher after field tests

The classic M203-series grenade launchers used by U.S. troops since Vietnam are one step closer to extinction due to M320A1 field tests by Marines at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Plans to replace all M203-series weapons with a more lethal alternative by 2024 appear to be on track after feedback by members of II Marine Expeditionary Force.

“Reloading it and unloading it are easy compared to other systems we’ve had in the past,” said Gunnery Sgt. Jason Wattle, squad adviser for the Infantry Small Unit Leader course, Military.com reported Tuesday.
