The Battle Will Take Longer than We’d Hoped

We've been fighting these gun control battles for almost 40 years now. And we almost always win. But it's almost always a nail-biter.

And so it is on Obama's gun control agenda.

We'd hoped that we could stop the gun control bribe-o-thon early (and risk-free) by blocking the motion to proceed to the package. But thanks to sell-outs like Pennsylvania's one-term senator, Pat Toomey, we're going to have to take a different battle position and defeat the package at a later stage.
The Senate today overcame the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster and voted to move to proceed to Harry Reid’s gun control bill (S. 649). Where Reid needed 60 votes, the tally was 68-31. Click here to see if your Senator sold you out by voting to “move to proceed” to the bill.

Republican defectors who voted anti-gun were: Alexander (TN), Ayotte (NH), Burr (NC), (Traitor) Chambliss (GA), Collins (ME), Corker (TN), Coburn (OK), Flake (AZ), Isakson (GA), McCain (AZ), Heller (NV), Hoeven (ND), Kirk (IL), Graham (SC), Toomey (PA) and Wicker (MS).

So, here's where we are. Right after the Senate proceeded to the gun control bill, Harry Reid used his privileged recognition to put a bunch of amendments in place. In Senate parlance, they are referred to as an "amendment tree;" and they contain the universal registry bill, the Feinstein gun ban, and the magazine ban. These will be voted on in upcoming days.

As for the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer universal registry bill, don't believe the press' efforts to sugar-coat it. If you have ever had an "Internet ... posting" on (or related to) your gun, you can sell it only by going to a dealer and filling out a 4473 and getting the government's approval. Only a cave man would be exempt.

And once you have a 4473? Well, the ATF is going from dealer to dealer, copying the information on these forms, and feeding it into a database. But, says Toomey, he's against universal registries. This is where it would have helped if Toomey had consulted someone who knew something about guns.

Registration and violation of privacy.

First of all, Toomey’s anti-registry language prohibits photocopying the 4473's, but it doesn't prohibit going into the FFL with a laptop and copying all the information. Second, ATF takes the position that the data it's accumulating in a database is not a "registry," so Toomey's ban does no good. Third, guess what the sanction is for violation of Toomey's anti-registry language? Answer: Eric Holder has to choose to prosecute himself and his own department.

But this isn't the only bad thing about Toomey-Manchin-Schumer.

Section 107 of the sell-out also waives any federal privacy prohibitions under HIPAA to sending the names of Americans with PTSD, ADHD, and post partem depression to the gun ban database. But that’s not all.

Believe in Jesus, hand in your guns?

Because private shrinks will be able to add patients names into a federal database of the mentally ill - without due process - you will be at their mercy.

As Red State editor, Erick Erickson says, “Activist mental health providers will probably be overly aggressive in adding people to the list. Give it five years in liberal areas and people who believe in the physical resurrection of Christ will probably get automatic entry onto the list.”

And as for veterans? Toomey-Manchin-Schumer reinforces the proposition that bureaucrats in the Department of Veterans Affairs can take away veterans' rights without any due process. If a veteran has $30,000 to spend getting back the rights Toomey-Manchin-Schumer wrongly took from him, the sell-out creates yet another redundant money-trap for restoration of rights that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.

Repealing gun owner protections.

What if you want to travel across the country? McClure-Volkmer allowed you to do that with an unloaded gun in the trunk (18 U.S.C. 926A). But, under the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer sell-out, unless you can "demonstrate," to the satisfaction of the New York police (1) where you came from, (2) where you're going, (3) that you're legally entitled to possess the gun in the place you can from, and (4) that you're legally entitled to possess the gun in the place you're going, they will arrest you in New York.

The Toomey-Manchin-Schumer sell-out creates a Biden-like commission to insure that the cries for gun control continue.

Like sprinkles on a pile of dung, Toomey and Schumer steal some of the proposals we drafted and try to use them to get us to buy onto gun control. But it won't work.

The gun movement is united against this disgusting pile of gun control.

Here is the new battlefield. Because of the Senate rules, many of the upcoming gun control votes will need 60 (out of 100 votes) to move forward. That will almost certainly be the case with the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer proposal. And because the entire Second amendment movement - GOA, NRA, etc. - is against the Toomey language, it virtually ensures his amendment will fail.

And if Toomey-Manchin-Schumer doesn't pass, then Reid probably won’t have enough votes to overcome a second filibuster on the bill - as it would contain the original anti-gun language sponsored by Reid and Schumer. This all but guarantees that the legislation would die, as Republicans and a half-a-dozen Democrat Senators would then team up to keep the bill from getting the required 60 votes.

One last question or thought: Did we waste our time supporting the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster and fighting the motion to proceed? No, because we forced Obama to fire most of his ammunition, as he dragged his human props around Washington in an effort to exploit them for political gain.
If Obama had been able to wait to play this card until Toomey-Manchin-Schumer came up for a vote, that vote would be a lot harder for us to win.

But Obama has already played this card for his "they deserve a vote" theme. Okay, they're getting their vote. But by the time we reach the vote on cloture on Toomey-Manchin-Schumer, Obama's exploitation of the victims of Newtown will begin to be realized for the cynical exploitative political ploy that it is. And he will be less able to shift gears and use the victims for the theme “They deserve a ‘yes’ vote.”

ACTION: So contact your Senators. Tell them to vote against cloture on the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer sell-out.

Civil Rights Commission Members Urge Congressional Black Caucus to Oppose Amnesty

Three members of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights have sent a letter to the Congressional Black Caucus urging them to oppose amnesty. In their letter, the Commissioners ask if there are currently enough jobs in the country for minorities and they say no.

"The obvious question is whether there are sufficient jobs in the low-skilled labor market for both African-Americans and illegal immigrants,"  USCCR members Peter Kirsanow, Abigail Thernstrom, and Gail Heriot wrote. "The answer is no."

The Congressional Black Caucus has come out in favor of an amnesty for illegal aliens, and the president of the NAACP Benjamin Todd Jealous was the keynote speaker at yesterday's pro-amnesty rally in Washington, D.C.

But the Commissioners referred to a 2008 hearing where witnesses testified that illegal immigration harms Black Americans.

"The briefing witnesses, well-regarded scholars from leading universities and independent groups, were ideologically diverse," they wrote. "All the witnesses acknowledged that illegal immigration has a negative impact on black employment, both in terms of employment opportunities and wages."

House Judiciary threatens subpoena over DOJ kill memos

 

The heads of the House Judiciary Committee are threatening to subpoena the Obama administration for access to its legal justification for killing suspected terrorists who are U.S. citizens

In a letter to President Obama on Wednesday, committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and ranking member John Conyers (D-Mich.) demanded that plans to view the documents be finalized by Thursday evening or they will issue a subpoena.

The move comes more than two months since the panel first requested access to the detailed Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) memos, which lay out the administration's legal support for targeting U.S. citizens who are suspected of being terrorists, pose an “imminent threat” to U.S. national security and for whom capture is not an option.

“If arrangements for our review of these materials are not finalized by COB tomorrow (Thursday, April 11, 2013), the committee will have no choice but to move forward with issuance of subpoenas for the documents,” wrote Goodlatte and Conyers.

In a vapid and disappointing Wall Street Journal op-ed, the editors assert that Constitutional conservatives in the Senate are facing a political backlash by threatening a filibuster on gun control.

...a faction of Republicans [including] Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas ... late last month said they'll use the filibuster to prevent the Reid bill from coming to the floor. On Tuesday Minority Leader Mitch McConnell endorsed the gambit, and the Heritage Action for America PAC says it plans to "score" the filibuster as a key vote for election purposes.

In an instant, these GOP wizards have taken the onus off Senate Democrats and made Republicans the media's gun-control focus.

The Journal is -- as usual -- either over-thinking the issue or simply parroting the Boehner-Rove-McCain establishment line. You make the call.

Where are their principles?

Hey, schmucks: the Constitution and Bill of Rights aren't up for debate. Legislation developed in secret, without a deliberative process, left us with Obamacare -- a disaster in every sense of the word. And that is precisely what is occurring with the Senate's "gun control" bill.

No more "Gangs of Eight". No more secret deals between the AFL-CIO and the Chamber of Commerce that are hidden from the American people.

The Constitution and the Bill of Rights aren't up for election every two years with these temporary hack politicians.

Is it a winning formula to parrot losers like Reince Preibus, John McCain and John Boehner? These numb-skulls have spent more time, money and energy waging war on the Republican base than on the Marxist Left. This country is crumbling, economically and morally, and the Journal is cheering on the guys who cower in the interest of "moderation".

There is no moderation when it comes to our nation's highest law. There is either fidelity to it -- or infidelity.

CARTRIDGES FOR SILENCED SNIPING RIFLES

The sniper is the most efficient of soldiers. The current military emphasis on firepower, combined with the use of deterrent suppressive fire, has seen the number of small arms rounds fired per casualty inflicted rise from several hundred at the start of this century to tens if not hundreds of thousands in modern high-intensity conflicts. Through all this, snipers have maintained a rate of approximately 1.3 rounds per casualty.

The lethal effectiveness of snipers also makes them the most unpopular of soldiers with their adversaries. Detection of a sniper usually results in a mortar attack if not a comprehensive artillery shoot, so snipers have to be experts in concealment as well as crack shots. They also have to be prepared to change position rapidly as soon as they feel that their position might have been spotted.

Most sniping rifles are chambered for the standard military cartridge, currently usually the 7.62 x 51 NATO or 7.62 x 54 R Russian depending on historical allegiance. These are not ideal because a heavier bullet at a higher muzzle velocity would ensure better long-range accuracy, so specialist rifles are available with more powerful cartridges such as the .300" Winchester Magnum and the .338" Lapua. Some rifles go even further, being chambered for rounds of calibres up to the .50" Browning heavy machine gun cartridge. These are described in THIS article.

All of these rifles have a major disadvantage from the sniper's point of view in that they are very obvious in use. The muzzle report can be heard at great distances and although this problem is increasingly being tackled by fitting a sound suppressor, the sharp crack of a supersonic bullet still gives clear warning to the enemy that they are under attack. There has therefore been a continuing interest in a genuinely silent sniping rifle for covert operations, and there is a wider choice now than has ever existed before.

The problem is that a silent rifle has to generate a muzzle velocity below the speed of sound, which is at around 320 m/sec (1,050 fps) depending on altitude and air temperature. This is in the realm of pistol rather than rifle cartridges so it is no surprise that one of the first and best known of such weapons used such a cartridge. This was the De Lisle Carbine, developed for British special forces in World War 2, which consisted of a Lee Enfield bolt action rifle chambered for the standard .45" Auto from the Colt 1911 pistol (11.5 x 23 in metric) and fitted with an 210mm barrel and a massive suppressor. Initial examples used the standard Lee-Enfield stock but a paratroop version with a folding stock was also produced. The problem with the De Lisle was that although it was reportedly accurate to over 300m, the velocity of around 260 m/sec combined with a relatively light (230 grain / 14.9 g) round-nosed bullet which lost velocity relatively quickly resulted in a rainbow-shaped trajectory at long range, making accurate range estimation crucial.

The next development along these lines went some way to solving the problem. This was an American bolt action rifle, fitted with a target barrel, a silencer and a telescopic sight, which saw experimental use in Vietnam. It was based around a new cartridge, the .458 x 1.5" Barnes (actually 11.6 x 33 B), which was essentially a shortened .458" Winchester big game round, firing the usual 500 grain (32.4 g) bullet at just below the speed of sound. It was apparently not entirely successful, largely because the bulk and weight caused by the long, heavy target barrel didn't endear it to the troops.

Even this was not the ultimate answer as the bullet was still round-nosed and therefore quickly lost velocity and effectiveness at long range. This prompted the development of cartridges using very heavy, pointed, boat-tailed bullets of excellent shape to minimise the velocity loss. Initially these were modified loadings of existing rifle rounds and such loadings are still available in all standard military rifle calibres, as they have some utility where the users want to carry only one weapon for both covert and open use. However, these are not very efficient: the small calibres limit the bullet weight which can be used before the rifling can no longer stabilise the bullet's flight, while the cartridges cases are far too big for the small quantity of propellant needed to reach subsonic velocity. 

As a result, a new breed of specialised subsonic rounds has arisen in the past few decades. These can only be used in purpose-designed rifles, usually fitted with short barrels and a large suppressor. They are designed for maximum efficiency in the role, so have relative large calibres and use small cartridge cases to fire the heaviest practicable bullets. The smaller versions are intended for use in suitably modified military rifles which may also feature selective fire (the capability for automatic firing), the larger ones for use in bolt-action rifles. Some of the cartridges are also available with supersonic loadings (for use with or without the suppressor) so that users can be more effectively equipped for when covert use is not needed.

One of the first, and certainly the most prolific, manufacturers of specialist subsonic rounds is SSK Industries of the USA, who produce the Whisper range of ammunition. These include 6, 6.5, 7, 7.62 (.300 Whisper), and 8.6 mm (.338 Whisper II) rounds, all using cartridge cases with the same diameter as the 5.56 x 45 but just 35-36 mm long so they can be loaded with longer bullets while keeping within the same maximum round length. This enables them to be chambered in rebarrelled versions of the standard M16 assault rifle, and they can even use the 5.56 mm magazines. SSK also makes subsonic loadings of the 7.63 x 25 (.30 Mauser) and 7.65 x 21 (.30 Luger) cartridges, marketed as the Mini-Whisper and Micro-Whisper respectively, with pointed heavy bullets making them too long to be used in the pistols.  Other cartridges are based on the 7.62 x 51 NATO case, but shortened and again in various calibres: .302, .338 (Whisper I) .375  and .416 Whispers, the last of these (which has so far evaded my collection) being virtually straight-cased. These can be used in modified 7.62 mm rifles such as the AR-10 family, or when fitted with shorter bullets to keep the same overall length as the 5.56 x 45 can be used in an M16 with more extensive modifications and different magazines. Finally, even larger rounds have been developed: the .458, .500 and .510 Whispers, based on the .458 Winchester Magnum, .460 Weatherby Magnum and .338 Lapua Magnum cases respectively.

Does Congress Care about American Workers?

 

Amnesty and Higher Immigration Levels Make No Economic or Moral Sense

     The current immigration “reform bill” before the U.S. Senate is likely to have catastrophic consequences for the United States if passed. Calling it a “reform” bill is breathtaking deception driven by greed and unscrupulous lust for political power.

     Before the misguided 1986 amnesty, an average of about 300,000 legal immigrants were admitted to the United States every year. In the last decade, we have averaged a total of one to 1.5 million legal and illegal immigrants per year. The illegal immigrants have averaged about 500,000 per year. The result is that we have about 12 million illegal immigrants here, and a total foreign-born population of 40 million, most of whom have come since 1980. At nearly 13 percent, the foreign-born portion of our population is at a record high.

     A very basic rule of economics is that a shortage of goods or labor drives prices or wages up, but that an excess supply of goods or labor drives prices or wages down.

     In 1997, the Jordan Congressional Immigration Reform Commission, after more than six years of study recommended that immigration be limited to 550,000 annually in order not to harm American workers or stress the social and cultural fabric. Because big corporations and industry associations were pressing for more low cost foreign labor, however, Congress ignored the Jordan Commission recommendations. Consequently most American workers and their families have made negligible real progress in income and standard of living since the 1970s.

     The Center for Immigration Studies has just released a paper by Harvard Labor Economist George Borjas, who is a Cuban immigrant, outlining the unfortunate effect of excess legal and illegal immigration on American workers and their families. Borjas points out that the presence of legal and illegal immigrant workers make the U.S. economy (GDP) about $1.6 trillion or 11 percent larger per year.

     GDP, however, measures bigness but not prosperity. Prosperity needs to be measured by GDP per person or household. If all of Mexico immigrated to the U.S., it would make us bigger but not necessarily more prosperous. It could, in fact, create a huge welfare, healthcare, and health insurance drag on the United States.

     Borjas’s analysis indicates that 97.8 percent of the $1.6 trillion increase rewards the immigrants themselves in the form of wages and benefits. The net surplus is only $35 billion per year, just 0.2 percent of the GDP. But this is by no means the full story.

     Borjas and his associate researchers have frequently asserted that U.S. immigration policy, especially with its politically driven emphasis on importing cheap foreign labor, amounts to a redistribution of wealth from American workers and taxpayers to immigrant workers and those who use low-cost immigrant labor. 

     Now here is the bottom line of Borjas’s findings, which are in line with standard economic models:

“The immigration surplus of $35 billion comes from reducing the wages of natives in competition with immigrants by an estimated $402 billion per year, while increasing profits or the incomes of users of immigrants by an estimated  $437 billion.”

This standard or textbook model also tells us that illegal immigrants increase GDP annually by $395 to $472 billion, producing a net surplus of $9 billion per year. This reduces the wages of native workers by $99 to $118 billion and generates a gain for illegal immigrant labor users of $107 to $128 billion per year.

     It is no wonder that lobbyists spent $1.5 billion from 2007 through 2012 to initiate or influence immigration legislation.  It worked for big agriculture and big business but not for American workers and their families. Labor Unions have ignored the needs of their own members in the hope of getting more dues money from easily organized foreign workers. Nor has the plight of American workers been championed by the mainstream media. They are more concerned with the hardships on the immigrants who are displacing American workers and driving down their wages. Even many churches are ignorantly calling for amnesty and more immigration that will hurt the poorest American workers and their families the most. One problem for American workers is that the public is terribly ignorant on how excess immigration is hurting them. They are continually misled by the reverberating propaganda of an odd combination of business lobbyists and leftist political agitators. The mainstream media offers little corrective edification.

     On the left, they know that more cheap labor eventually translates into Democrat votes from a growing big government oriented welfare constituency.  If amnesty passes, it will probably destroy the Republican Party and marginalize both economic and social conservatives to permanent political impotency. One irony of all this is that the business lobbyists who profit from amnesty and cheap foreign labor may destroy economic freedom by continuing to flood the electorate with new voters who prefer increasing government management of the economy.  

     In addition to the labor effects of excess legal and illegal immigration, taxpayers subsidize education, healthcare, law enforcement, and other costs not borne by the employers of cheap foreign labor. The lowest estimate I can find for this by fairus.org is $84 billion per year, which is by no means all-inclusive. It does not include the Heritage Foundation’s minimum $250 billion per year for Social Security and Medicare liabilities should there be an amnesty. Nor does it include the looming impact of amnesty on Obamacare. Expanding guestworkers from the already bloated army of 700,000 is pregnant with huge fiscal and native wage suppression problems.

     Amnesty and higher levels of immigration make no economic or moral sense, when 20 million Americans who want a full time job cannot find one. Where is our respect and compassion for American workers and their families?

Rubio in 2010: I'll never support amnesty

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., one of a handful of names being offered as a potential GOP candidate for the White House in 2016, is working on an immigration reform plan that critics say may include some sort of offer of legitimacy for those who already have broken U.S. laws and are inside its borders illegally.

Or amnesty.

But in a little seen video filmed during his Senate campaign, Rubio claimed, “I will never support –never have and never will support – any effort to grant blanket, legalization, amnesty to folks who have entered or stayed in this country illegally.”

He also said, “I’m strongly against amnesty for a number of reasons. …The most important thing we need to do is enforce our existing laws. Nothing will make it harder to enforce existing laws” than to grant amnesty.

Dear Mr. Rawls:

I am a member of the UDC and we were former members of MOC. My husband and I keep talking about a trip to see the battlefields in Virginia, Gettysburg, the MOC at Appomattox, and to visit Richmond to see the White House of the Confederacy, UDC headquarters, Hollywood Cemetery, MOC and the monuments to our Confederate generals. However, now we will leave the state of Virginia off of our itinerary. I find it utterly disgusting that the flags of the Confederacy were removed from the chapel at VMFA and that the flags of the Confederacy do not fly at Appomattox MOC. I hope this is not correct.

My great, great-grandfather and three of his brothers served under those flags in the Army of Northern Virginia under General Lee. These boys were from Mississippi, not Virginia. My great, great-grandfather and one brother wounded were captured at Gettysburg and sent to Point Lookout Maryland POW prison; the other two brothers managed to survive with the regiment at Gettysburg to fight another day. The youngest was wounded near Petersburg and sent home to recover on furlough where he died four months later and was buried in the family cemetery in Cockrum, MS. The brothers in prison were eventually exchanged at City Point, with the wounded brother spending the remaining days of the War in a hospital in Mississippi. The oldest survived to be one of only ten remaining soldiers of Co. I, 17th MS Infantry to be surrendered by General Lee at Appomattox.

My ancestors spent most of their years of the War fighting on Virginia soil. I can only imagine if they were alive today what they would think to hear that U.S. Grant, a.k.a. the Butcher, was selected at the MOC Symposium as "Person of the Year" for 1863. I pray this is incorrect; otherwise, the world is going stark-raving mad! Who will be next year's winner, that kind-hearted, sensitive guy who said, "There is a class of people (in the South), men, women and children, who must be killed or banished before you can hope for peace and order." ...... W.T. Sherman? This disease of revisionist history, presentism, and cultural genocide is spreading from Virginia throughout the South and it will quickly destroy tourism for cities and states who foolishly choose to jump on the Cultural-Marxist Train.

Without a doubt it is the most concealable and comfortable holster I own.I carry my 45 in it and I can sit, squat and anything else I can do normally. It is a bit pricey at $88 shipped, but it is well worth it. I can wear it under a T-shirt and nobody is the wiser.

Missouri Secretly Shares Entire CCW List With Feds Against State Law

Missouri State Senator Kurt Schaefer confirmed today that the Missouri Highway Department did in fact share confidential CCW lists with the federal government in violation of Missouri law.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has twice turned over the entire list of Missouri concealed weapon permit holders to federal authorities, most recently in January, Sen. Kurt Schaefer said Wednesday.

Questioning in the Senate Appropriations Committee revealed that on two occasions, in November 2011 and again in January, the patrol asked for and received the full list from the state Division of Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing. Schaefer later met in his office with Col. Ron Replogle, superintendent of the patrol.

After the meeting, he said Replogle had given him sketchy details about turning over the list, enough to raise many more questions. Testimony from Department of Revenue officials revealed that the list of 185,000 names had been put online in one instance and given to the patrol on a disc in January.

I’ve been following this story for weeks and today spoke with Sen. Schaefer on my program about this issue. Earlier he stripped the Department of Revenue of their budget, around $3.5 million.

A Connecticut gun-maker announced on Wednesday it intends to leave the state, just six days after passage of restrictive gun control legislation, while two other manufacturers said they are considering relocation offers from other states.

Manufacturers also plan to lobby the state's congressional delegation next week "to make sure they hear from our side," said Mark Malkowski, president of Stag Arms in New Britain.

Stop the Amnesty and Guest Worker Bills

 

The new amnesty and guest worker bills would help establish the North American Union.

To learn what to expect in the way of amnesty and guest worker provisions in the new comprehensive immigration reform legislation being introduced in Congress this spring read “Permanent Amnesty, Temporary Border” in the April 22 issue of The New American.

The following quotes from that article provide an important perspective on the new Senate immigration bill:

But why should a place be found for those who sneak across the border and do not want to assimilate? Why can’t borders be enforced? In truth, the policy of providing repeated amnesties without enforcing the border does not make any sense — unless the intent is to eventually eliminate the border as part of a broader agenda to establish a North American Union. The evidence demonstrates this is exactly what’s happening….

The establishment of an NAU would do in North America what the Amsterdam Treaty did in Europe when it made the Schengen agreements part of European Union law — it would transform de facto (in fact) open borders into de jure (in law) open borders. In order to prevent this transformation, both sides of the internationalists’ agenda must be countered simultaneously: Illegal immigration must be controlled and amnesty denied, and new “free trade” pacts between the United States and other nations must be stopped and existing ones, such as NAFTA, repealed.

Exactly. The new comprehensive immigration initiative in Congress should be understood as part of a broader agenda to establish a North American Union. The intent of the reformers is to legalize the status of an estimated 12 million (more likely many millions more) by providing them a “path to citizenship,” aka amnesty, and to legalize the future flow of immigrants by providing a large-scale guest worker program. That is, the intent is to establish an open border by granting amnesty to the present illegal immigrants and by establishing a large-scale guest worker program as a legal option for future would-be illegal immigrants.

If successful, the new comprehensive immigration initiative would transform our de facto (in fact) open borders into de jure (in law) open borders, which, coupled with our nation’s family reunification policy, would set the stage for massive, unlimited immigration into the United States. This would signal the end of our existence as an independent nation, ending the very successful history of freedom of these United States under the Constitution, which began with the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the Constitution in 1787.

If we intend to restore and preserve our free and independent nation, we must oppose all amnesty and guest worker legislation, then work to repeal our existing “free trade” agreements, such as NAFTA and CAFTA, and stop any new “free trade” agreements, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

Contact your representative and senators and urge them to reject both amnesty for the illegal immigrants already here and guest worker programs for future immigrants. Congress needs to enforce the immigration laws we currently have on the books, which already provide for over one million legal immigrants each year.

Toomey lies to constituents about gun control deal

On Monday the Examiner learned that U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., was in negotiations with U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., on a compromise gun control bill that would vastly expand background checks to include private transactions, citizen to citizen.

No sooner had the Examiner published the stunning information that took even moderate Republicans off guard than Toomey's office was in damage control mode, denying that the senator was involved in any deal on gun control.

One of Toomey's constituents told the Examiner that he had contacted the senator's office personally to complain about the Toomey-Manchin compromise deal. He was told that the information was false, that the reporter who conveyed the information was wrong, and that the entire thing was the doing of Sen. Manchin's office, which was sending out false information in an attempt to pressure Toomey into a deal.

On Tuesday other constituents reported that they, too, had contacted Toomey's office to complain. But they, too, were told that the senator had no plans to compromise and that no deal was in the works.

Today, however, it turns out that everything Toomey and his staff had been telling constituents and the media about the gun control compromise deal was patently false. Toomey lied to his constituents.

Controversial gun legislation cleared a key Senate hurdle Thursday, as lawmakers voted 68-31 to start debate on the package which includes expanded background checks and new penalties for gun trafficking.

Senate Democrats, joined by 16 Republicans, were able to overcome an attempted filibuster by GOP senators opposed to the current bill. Those senators could still slow-walk the debate, but the Senate will eventually begin votes on amendments -- one of which is considered crucial to winning support for a final vote.

The White House called Thursday's tally an "important" but "early milestone," as both sides of the issue prepare for a grueling debate -- one that is being waged in Washington and on the airwaves.

The amendment likely to be at the front of the line is one from Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Pat Toomey, R-Pa., which would scale back the call for universal background checks. The plan would expand checks to gun-show and Internet sales, but exempt certain personal transactions.

Militia Members Sue State Police, FBI Agents Over ‘Mental Anguish’

Members of the Michigan-based Hutaree militia, who plotted to overthrow the government and kill police in a violent coup, have filed a lawsuit against FBI and Michigan State Police officers, claiming their constitutional rights were violated when their homes were raided and guns confiscated.

They’re seeking at least $25,000 in damages for each of the lawsuit’s 16 counts.

The lawsuit, which was filed by acquitted members of the homegrown militia in U.S. District Court in Detroit, are seeking no less than $25,000 in damages.

The Hutaree believed President Barack Obama to be the Antichrist and espoused dreams of creating a “Colonial Christian Republic.”  They were arrested in March 2010 after details of their plot were uncovered by federal agents.

Plaintiffs Michael Meeks and Thomas Piatek, along with Meeks’ parents Eugene and Sylvia Meeks, and sister Gabrielle Neely, claim FBI agents and a State Police officer showed a “reckless disregard” for their “rights” when raiding their home.

Gun Manufacturer Will Leave Connecticut Over Gun Control Legislation: ‘A Call to All Involved in Our Industry to Leave This State’

 A Connecticut gun-maker has announced Wednesday it intends to leave the state following the passage of gun control legislation it says tramples on the rights of citizens and does not show enough consideration for the industry.

Bristol-based PTR says in a statement posted on its website that it has not decided where it will move, but it has commitments from most employees to relocate. The company makes military-style rifles and employs more than 40 people.

PTR Vice President John McNamara said Wednesday that it expects to make a more formal announcement about a move within six weeks. The company encouraged other gun manufacturers to follow suit

“We feel that our industry as a whole will continue to be threatened so long as it remains in a state where its elected leaders have no regard for the rights of those who produce and manufacture its wealth,” the statement reads.

“We are making a call to all involved in our industry to leave this state, close your doors and show our politicians the true consequences of their hasty and uninformed actions. We encourage those in our industry to abandon this state as its leaders have abandoned the proud heritage that forged our freedom.”

ACTION ALERT-HB786-Licenses for illegals in NC

It's official....... North Carolina House Republicans have introduced legislation today in the state General Assembly to give all illegal immigrants in North Carolina a driver's license. The Bill is HB786. They are calling it a driver's permit, but outside of not being able to vote with it, it is in fact a driver's license. They also have added language in this bill that seems to gut the earlier E-Verify bill to keep illegals from getting jobs belonging to citizens. They added some small enforcement measures, but that is all for naught by giving illegals the legal right to drive. And basically they have said in the bill that local law enforcement won't touch illegals if they have one of these driver's licenses unless and until after they commit crimes. All but the worst illegal alien criminals will get a NC driver's license. With all of their aliases, which of the illegal immigrants multiple names will they check? And get this, to insult every citizen's intelligence, they are calling this legislation the "Reclaim NC Act". 

 

See below to take initial action. This is SERIOUS. We need the help of all citizens !! 

 

The Republican sponsors claimed that they talked to all "stakeholders" before writing the legislation. I know for a fact that other than NC LISTEN and NC FIRE, they only talked to cheap labor industry folks and believe it or not, they took input from several illegal immigrant advocacy groups. This was an apparent attempt to curry favor in a futile attempt to get votes down the road..... I asked the sponsors of this bill if they actually talked to any unemployed citizens about their bill.......there was silence. I guess unemployed citizens aren't really stakeholders??

 

The last time our state granted driving privileges to illegal immigrants, when Democrats were in power, our state became a magnet for illegals. The number of illegals dramatically increased by tenfold. Only four other states (New Mexico, Utah, Washington, and Illinois) give driver's licenses to illegals and obviously none of them are in the southeast USA, so we will see an influx of illegals to our state. We worked for eight years to re-tighten requirements for a NC driver's license and got it done but now the Republicans, who ran for election on our issue of immigration enforcement, are "giving the store away".

 

This is a kick in the gut to unemployed citizens who need jobs, especially low-skilled citizens who are unemployed. 85% of illegals do NOT work on the farm. Apparently Republicans want to make it easier for illegal immigrants to drive to a job that belongs to a citizen. This certainly appears to be a payoff to industries in North Carolina that hire illegal immigrants.

 

Two Immediate actions to take:

 

First, I hope you will call and email Speaker Thom Tillis's office and say kill House bill 786, the bill to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Otherwise "you are again throwing umemployed citizens under the bus", all the while pandering to illegal immigrants and giving them a driver's license.........(don't let them tell you it's a driver's permit only.......that's only deceitful on their part). They will probably try to BS you, so I would make comments and then hang-up. They found a few police officers who support this nonsense and they have already tried to sell it to me as a law enforcement initiative. It's appears to be a payoff to industries that hire illegal immigrants..
