Gun retailers can still offer curbside services to sell guns and ammunition to customers amid the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced in an industry letter published Friday.

Firearms businesses have been already deemed an “essential service” by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, even as thousands of “nonessential” businesses remain closed and the Trump administration is urging people to stay home to prevent the spread of coronavirus. (Other essential businesses include grocery stores, hospitals and pharmacies.) Gun control activists have criticized the decision, warning that increased gun violence could divert already strained health care resources away from responding to the pandemic.

The Commandant of the Marine Corps has decreed that all symbols of the Confederacy be removed from Marine Corps bases. Even, at least, the General class of officers in the Marine Corps has caved to political correctness.

Every time there is a soldier with an eyepatch or missing limb put before the cameras, one’s heart and respect go out to that purple heart recipient. Some people from the past also wonder what kind of leadership is leading. Once there was little doubt in men like Chesty Puller, or Smedly Butler. But any given day now, when some moronic order is issued, well, God help the troops.

Not surprising. Most officers beyond field grade have become no more than political hacks, including, apparently the Commandant.

At the end of war the South had not only suffered tremendous human losses, but was also materially and economically devastated.  Yet there was no Marshall Plan for her recovery put forth by the dominant faction of Northern political leaders.  Instead, Reconstruction was a plan to punish the South and remake Southern society, while continuing and even increasing her ruthless economic exploitation for the benefit of Northern commercial and industrial interests.   The total war policies of the Union Army and the exploitive policies of the Reconstruction governments had caused a famine in the South in 1866, while the North was enjoying economic prosperity and plenty. 

Although many private relief agencies and churches in the North sent some relief, the U.S. government sent no aid and continued to force its destructive confiscation and tax policies on the South.   All this was related to maintaining the political dominance gained by the Republican Party in 1860 and furthering the agenda of the Radical Republicans.   If the South could not be remade into a region of political vassal states to the Radical Republicans, the Republicans would lose their national power. Enfranchising and capturing the black vote was a primary strategy to that end. Destroying the economic, cultural, and political influence of former Confederates served that end, as well as providing the means for enriching opportunist carpetbaggers and government officials.

“Apple Inc. and Google unveiled a rare partnership to add technology to their smartphone platforms that will alert users if they have come into contact with a person with Covid-19,” reads a new report from Bloomberg. “People must opt in to the system, but it has the potential to monitor about a third of the world’s population.”

** Fauci later went on with Al Sharpton on MSNBC and and told Al Sharpton that he warned President Trump that “we were in real trouble” from the coronavirus.

GOP Lawmaker is First to Call for Dr. Tony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx to Step Down

 

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) joined Garret Lewis this morning on KNST AM 790 in Tucson to discuss the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

During their discussion Rep. Biggs made news by being the first member of Congress to publicly call on Dr. Anthony Fauci and and Dr. Deborah Birx to resign and step down. 

The Arizona Republican had this to say about Dr. Fauci, “He has said last week in one of the meetings I was on a conference call with that he has not taken into account societal, economic or social concert impact to any of his policies. And at the same time that I think that we are doing things that are right we are also doing things that are not right. In the sense that you got 17 million new people that are unemployed today based on Fauci’s policies.

History and Evolution of Body Armor

 

Naturally, many people would think of body armor as some new technology. Perhaps recently invented to protect modern-day men and women in both the armed services and law enforcement. The truth is, however, that the development of arms and armor began with the start of humanity. 

Throughout recorded history, and before that, the earliest warriors employed a variety of materials for personal protection. The idea was to protect against injury in combat, hunting, and other dangerous situations. Rudimentary body armor consisted mainly of protective clothing and shields made from animal skins. 

At some point, warriors fashioned shields from wood and much later, from metal. Much of the information on early armor is largely a matter of conjecture. It wasn’t until Homer wrote his epics, around 750 BCE, that there are detailed descriptions of shields, greaves, helmets, and breastplates that provide insight into the archaic body armor of ancient Greece.

Editor’s Note: When this review was first published the Mossberg Patriot Predator had just come out and wasn’t yet widely available. It has since proven itself to be a very versatile, reliable, and accurate option especially if you are on a budget. They are also now widely available. 

I fondly remember picking up my grandfathers old dusty, faded hunting magazines and reading about hunting rifles. Unless you were buying a rifle from Kenny Jarrett, or other custom builders, sub-MOA rifles were nary to be found. Sometime during the late 90’s or early 2000, factory rifles started to appear that could produce MOA results with factory ammunition. These days, companies guarantee MOA accuracy and owners seem to fly into a fit of panic if their new rifle fails to group 1.047 inches at 100 yards.
