that blamed “stupid white people” for the success in the polls of
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, calling them “the worst”.
Stewart was reacting to Trump moving into the lead over Democrat rival Hillary Clinton in several post-Republican convention polls released Monday.

A man was arrested after killing 19 people and injuring 45 others in a stabbing rampage at a facility for the disabled in Japan’s Kanagawa Prefecture near Tokyo, local media reported, citing authorities.

Minutes after the ordinance was passed, and under cover of darkness, city workers cut down the Third National flag from the soldier’s monument on the grounds of the Sutherlin Mansion, the Last Capitol of the Confederacy, where CSA President Jefferson Davis and his cabinet met for the last time. The tiny 3x5 flag had flown at the historical site for years, without incident.
One year later, to mark the anniversary of the cowardly decision, the Virginia Flaggers, with the generous support of Danville area residents, will raise our largest Battle Flag to date THIS SATURDAY, July 23rd on private land adjacent to the 29 Bypass in Danville. It will be the 14th massive roadside Battle Flag raised in Danville in the 12 months since the tiny 3x5 flag was ripped down, and the 27th raised in the Commonwealth since the fall of 2013.
Sky High Poles of Danville installed the 119’ pole this afternoon, which will fly a massive 30’ x 50’ Confederate Battle Flag.

France. Local authorities in Nice are resisting orders from France’s
SDAT anti-terrorism agency to destroy CCTV footage of the Bastille Day terrorist attack.
“This is the first time we are asked to destroy evidence,” said a
source quoted by French newspaper Le Figaro. “The CCTV department and
the city of Nice could be prosecuted for this, and also the officers in
charge do not have jurisdiction to engage in such operations.”
Interestingly, while many media sources framed the demand as a “request,” a Google translation of the original article in Le Figaro used the phrase “urgent legal requisition.” The paper further noted that SDAT cited “Articles 53 and L706-24 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and Article R642-1 of the Penal Code” in their effort to “erase 24 hours of images from six cameras named, numbered,” as well as “all the scenes from the beginning of the attack that took place on the Promenade des Anglais, on the night of 14 July.”
The French Ministry of Justice insisted the effort was aimed at avoiding the “uncontrolled dissemination” of images that could be used as jihadist propaganda. The government further claims the destruction of the video intended to protect the families of the victims.
Nice city officials aren’t buying it.

Elections Leaked DNC Documents Show Plans To Reward Big Donors With Federal Appointments

Democratic National Committee documents recently released by WikiLeaks include spreadsheets and emails that appear to show party officials planning which donors and prominent fundraisers to provide with appointments to federal boards and commissions.
The documents, which were circulated among top DNC officials in April, could raise legal questions for the party, says Ken Boehm, the chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group.
“The disclosed DNC emails sure look like the potential Clinton Administration has intertwined the appointments to federal government boards and commissions with the political and fund raising operations of the Democratic Party,” Boehm told The Daily Caller.
“That is unethical, if not illegal.”

Florida shooting: 2 confirmed killed, 14-17 injured at Club Blu nightclub in Ft. Myers

Club Blu in the early hours of Monday morning, according to Capt. Jim
Mulligan of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Police later said that the
two people who died were teenagers aged 14 and 18.
The pair were named as Ste’fan Strawder, an 18-year-old basketball player for Lehigh Senior High School, and 14-year-old Sean Archilles, a source told WINK News.
Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) reported that 14 to 16 people were injured.

incident took place during a ‘teen night’, with a local hospital stating
that one of those hurt is only 12 years old.

I have lived in Vietnam for over 10 years, but had never heard that the Catholic church was the largest landholder at one time. As Robert Edward Lee said, you will learn something new everyday until the day you die. The land in front of the magnificent church in downtown Saigon (above) was named John F. Kennedy Square until the Communists changed it. I plan on going back after Thanksgiving where I will travel to Long Xuyen to visit the Catholic church there (below) which seats 1,000 and make good on a promise I made 22 years ago.

In some northern provinces, more than a quarter of the population was Catholic and the church wielded significant clout. After the communists came to power in 1954, an estimated 750,000 Catholics migrated south, ballooning the population. Under Diem, Catholics held officer positions at double the rate of the rest of the population, according to historian Anthony James Joes; after the migration, as many as one in seven Saigonese were Catholic.
That position of prominence came to a resounding close in April 1975, when the North Vietnamese gained control of South Vietnam. Traditional communism had little place for religion, less so for one associated alternatively with colonialism and anti-Viet Minh sentiments.
Brutal crackdown
The results were brutal and immediate. One Jesuit official recalled to ucanews.com that half of the order's 12 priests were jailed.
"The new regime wasted no time in taking various measures against the Southern Catholic community," writes political scientist Nguyen Van Canh in Vietnam Under Communism: 1975-1982. "The new relationship between church and state in Vietnam requires the Catholic Church to endorse the party line even on ecclesiastical matters."
Arrests and harassment became common, work was scheduled so as to block people from attending Mass, and anti-Catholic raids were carried out on troublesome communities and churches, Nguyen recounts.

Syrian man carrying bomb dies in Germany; 12 wounded
A 27-year-old Syrian man denied asylum in Germany a year ago died on Sunday when he set off a bomb outside a crowded music festival in Bavaria, the fourth violent attack in Germany in less than a week, a senior Bavarian state official said.
Police said 12 people were wounded, including three seriously, in the attack in Ansbach, a small town of 40,000 people southwest of Nuremberg that is also home to a U.S. Army base.
The incident will add to growing public unease surrounding Chancellor Angela Merkel's open-door refugee policy, under which more than a million migrants have entered Germany over the past year.
