From Illegal Aliens to Undocumented Workers to Refugees–Leftist Word Games

The religious and political Left loves to play word games and if you understand where the Left is coming from you will realize that they use language as a weapon of war and that the words they spout at us don’t mean what we think they mean. That is part of their offensive against us.
Have any of you noticed with the big fuss over illegal aliens coming into this country by the millions how the terminology has changed. Awhile back the illegal aliens were called just what they were.
Then that was shortened to just “illegals.” A short time after that they became “undocumented workers” and they are now being relabeled as “refugees.” There is a pattern to all this, an evolution of the Leftist agenda, if you will.
Most Americans, except for the fuzzy-headed liberal elite, are not really happy with the influx of illegal aliens into this country. They are just old-fashioned enough to have the idea that people ought to come here legally or stay at home. There are some exceptions, but, in the main, this is where Americans have been at. The idea of handing out freebies and all manner of goodies to someone just because he managed to get into your country illegally doesn’t really appeal to most Americans. The feds soak us enough now without them adding anymore freeloaders to the dole for us to pay for.
At this point, I’d like to differentiate. The Mexican illegals that came here during the 1940s and 50s were a whole different breed than what we have to deal with today. Admittedly they came in illegally, but they were looking for a decent life, which they couldn’t get in Mexico, and they were willing to work and work hard to get it. When they got here and found work, in the main, they taught their kids to be thankful for America and they raised their kids to be good citizens. That’s not what we are dealing with today.

I think we ought to use names like that today. Think about it: Obama the Obtuse, Joe the Hairtransplanted, Nancy Nails-on-a-Blackboard, Boehner the Bland. It would add a rare element of truth to the political conversation.

The regime knows the polling, the regime knows they are operating from a position of weakness. The regime also knows the actual law is on YOUR side. Do not be afraid to state your position. A psychiatrist's patient ranted about a gun ban at a suburban medical complex before opening fire there, killing his caseworker and grazing his psychiatrist before the doctor pulled out his own weapon and fired back, authorities said Friday.
Dr. Lee Silverman emptied his gun's chamber, striking patient Richard Plotts several times, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said. Plotts by then had shot the caseworker in the face and fired several shots at Silverman, including one that grazed his temple and another that struck his thumb, he said.
Plotts had 39 unspent bullets on him when he was wrestled to the ground at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, just southwest of Philadelphia, and police believe he had planned to use them.

In an otherwise excellent article on the Hamas terror tunnel network in Gaza, the Jerusalem Post buries the lede. An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier in the field told the Post that while Hamas fighters offered fierce resistance when the ground operation began, now Hamas operatives are fleeing, abandoning their positions, leaving behind weapons and other material that the IDF is using to expand its assault on the terror group.
The source added that in recent days, a recognizable wave of demoralization has washed over Hamas's combat battalions. "They simply escape, leaving behind weapons and suicide bomb vests that were laid out for battle. This morning we stormed a position, and they just weren't there. I don't see a determined enemy. We have encountered stronger pockets of fighting in the past. But now, I would not give them a high grade for fighting spirit."

Pete Huttlinger: While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Eleanor Rigsby - Impossible Arrangement

Reading and watching your latest guitar thread I couldn't help thinking of Craven County guitarist Pete Huttllinger. He's probably the most famous guitarist most folks never heard of. Reason being that he primarily works as a studio guitarist in Nashville and plays acoustic guitar. I knew of Pete when I attended Craven Community college many years ago. I can't call him a friend. I never hung around him but saw him on campus all the time, usually with a group of cute ladies hanging around him. There is some story about him and (I think it was) Les Paul that I want to tell you but I can't quite remember the details. I'll get back to you if I do. Seems he was the only person that Paul or whomever the artist was, would allow to play a particular arrangement that he had written.
I'm much more into electric guitar music but Pete is great! He was having some health problems a while back. Don't know what his status is now.

Russia Has 15K Troops at Ukraine Border, Moving Heavy Artillery
Russia has now amassed around 15,000 troops along the border with Ukraine, the U.S. ambassador to NATO said on Friday, and the Pentagon warned that movement of Russian heavy caliber artillery systems across the border into Ukraine is "imminent."
The Pentagon went further, suggesting Russia is escalating the military action there. U.S. Ambassador to NATO Douglas Lute offered the troop estimate during a security forum in Colorado, saying there were "now up again over about 15,000 Russian troops amassed along the border with Ukraine."
Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said the U.S. has seen the powerful rocket systems moving closer to the Ukraine border and they could be put into the hands of Russian-backed separatists as soon as Friday. He says he doesn't have an exact timeline.
U.S. officials warned this week that they had new evidence that Russia intended to deliver heavier and more powerful multiple rocket launchers to the separatist forces in Ukraine. Warren told reporters Friday that the delivery could happen at any time, adding "it's that close" to the border.

Washington and Lee University has desecrated Robert E. Lee’s grave, but can remedy its error by restoring the Confederate battle flags and separating the chapel from university politics, the commander of the local Sons of Confederate Veterans said.
The Lexington-based Stonewall Brigade plans Saturday to battle the removal of replica flags from Lee Chapel with a downtown flag vigil starting at noon. That will be followed by an open forum at 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express to discuss how to respond to what it terms “grave robbery.”
“We feel that what they did is a desecration of Robert E. Lee’s memorial and gravesite,” said commander Brandon Dorsey. “It is borderline illegal, and the flags should be returned. No military servicemen should have the flags for which they fought removed from their gravesite.”

In November 1933, during the Holodomor, the greatest liberal of them all, FDR, invited Foreign Minister Maxim Litvinov to receive official U.S. recognition of his master Stalin's murderous regime.
On August 1, 1991, just four months before Ukraine declared its independence of Russia, George H. W. Bush warned Kiev's legislature:
"Americans will not support those who seek independence in order to replace a far-off tyranny with a local despotism. They will not aid those who promote a suicidal nationalism based upon ethnic hatred."
In short, Ukraine's independence was never part of America's agenda. From 1933 to 1991, it was never a U.S. vital interest. Bush I was against it.
When then did this issue of whose flag flies over Donetsk or Crimea become so crucial that we would arm Ukrainians to fight Russian-backed rebels and consider giving a NATO war guarantee to Kiev, potentially bringing us to war with a nuclear-armed Russia?

“The
thirtieth anniversary of Lee’s surrender (April 9, 1865) finds the
character of the vanquished General a model to which all may refer with
approval. “His modesty was his highest virtue,” said a learned critic.
Gen. Winfield Scott, commander of the United States armies, under whom
Lee served in Mexico, said, “He was the best soldier I ever saw in the
field.”
When
he surrendered the remnant of his army, which had been invincible so
many years, Gen. Meade, in conversation with him, asked how many men he
had at Petersburg, when his lines were broken, and Lee replied “Forty thousand.” Meade said, “I am amazed, and could not believe it were it
not you who said it.” [Grant’s strength was at least 110,000 men]
When
terms of capitulation were agreed upon, and the officer who had gone to
take an inventory of Lee’s army, reported to Gen. Grant, stating that
there were 8,000 men for duty, 120 cannon, etc., Grant refused to permit
the firing of any salute of victory. In every way he showed his
appreciation of the heroism and long persistence of Gen. Lee.
In
a tribute to his character, Rev. Dr. Henry M. Field, who was reared in
the Berkshire Hills of New England, a born abolitionist, but who
venerates the memory of his “Black Mammy” as do Southerners, visited
Lexington, Va., and concludes a tribute as follows:
“As
I took a last look at the recumbent statue, I observed that its base
bore no epitaph; no words of praise were carved upon the stone. Only
above it on the wall was the name “Robert Edward Lee,” with the two
dates, “Born January 19, 1807, Died October 12, 1870.”
That
is all, but it is enough, for any eulogy would but detract from the
spell of that single name: “One of the few, the immortal names, That
were not born to die.”
