He befriended the ashes of a Vietnam veteran. Now he has to let him go.

Via Thang Bui

He served three tours in Vietnam, went through special forces training and became a Green Beret. He received the Bronze Star with Valor, the Army Air Medal for Heroism in Aerial Flight twice and a number of other medals. He learned Burmese. He worked in counter-intelligence and some of what he did is still classified, Rivera said. He retired in 1978 with a highly distinguished service record.
The ashes were found in a St. Petersburg attic. Nine years after his death, a soldier is buried with honors at Bay Pines National Cemetery.

Larry Rivera drove over the Gandy Bridge with the ashes of a man he’d never met.

This was before he was on a first-name basis with the urn. It was before he figured out exactly whose ashes were in it.

No one was sure what to do. Not the tenants who found the black and gold urn abandoned in the crawlspace of their St. Petersburg rental home. Not the dutiful neighbor they gave it to, who knew the dog tags found with it meant they had to do something and called a friend at MacDill Air Force Base.

And not Rivera, who ended up with the ashes.

What Price Prosperity?

However, there are a few bright spots in this otherwise grim summary of our current situation. States such as North Carolina have enacted programs to attempt to spur on economic development for entrepreneurs in rural areas. However, the problem persists that states are being overwhelmed through an influx of migration from the north, and an emphasis on material wealth over kith and kin. Until there is a reset in our economy and society the diagnosis is rather dire. Southerners must take active steps within their local communities to support local businesses, teach their children to take an active interest in their heritage and elect officials who will not sell out the past and future generations for the benefit of the present

The news media rarely, if ever, focuses on the impact on society and culture the price of economic growth. Nor do politicians.   This begs the question, what price is extracted from society and culture in the pursuit of economic growth, in particular, when the central and state governments along with the central bank play key roles, namely in the of the growth of debt as an asset and not a liability, state regulation, tax revenue increases and regulatory capture by industry. The pursuit of prosperity has a dramatic impact on the demographic makeup of the South, our value system and ultimately the culture of the southern nation.

Fall in Love with America’s Only Wild Dog: All About the Carolina Dog

Foxhole

Most of the dogs we’re familiar with trace their origins overseas—the pug from China, the Akita from Japan, the French bulldog, or the Borzoi from Russia. Is there such a thing as a truly American dog? Why, yes. But while certain breeds originated in North America, there’s only one wild dog we can claim: the Carolina Dog.

The Carolina dog looks an awful lot like the Australian dingo, and is sometimes called the “American Dingo” or “Dixie Dingo” because of its Southern roots.

Man Up

The rule of law is the legal principle that law should govern a nation, as opposed to being governed by arbitrary decisions of individual government officials.

Tyranny can be defined by that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry. Also cruel and unfair treatment by people with powers over others.

I’ve written several times about how I believe the Rule of Law is and has been Dead. None of us have wanted to face the world we thought was coming in the future. It’s time to Man Up!

Our government officials don’t even try to hide it anymore.

Imagining Donald Trump’s Future for America

Image result for Imagining Donald Trump’s Future for America

How might we view the next few decades in an America shaped by the vision pioneered in this century by the 45th president?

Anyone who thinks President Trump’s victory is inevitable in 2020 is not paying attention. The entire weight of America’s profiteering elites is arrayed against him.

But what if he wins anyway? What if enough voters realize they’re being conned by the Democrats?

What if enough voters decide they don’t want to feel like unwanted usurpers in their own nation?

What if men and women of all ethnicities realize that despite the unrelenting avalanche of lies coming from the Left, America is a welcoming and inclusive nation and that the only way a society can stay healthy is by rewarding personal initiative?

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke said on Wednesday that police officers would go to the homes of people who refuse to comply with his proposed law banning AR-15s and AK-47s, if it was put into place, and seize the banned guns.

O’Rourke said during the Tuesday debate that people who don’t comply with the law, which is thought by some to be an infringement of the Second Amendment, would have their weapons taken away from them, but stopped short of saying law enforcement officers would visit houses to seize the firearms.

President Trump’s First 1,000 Days: In Spite of Constant Harassment from Deep State and Dems, President’s Accomplishments are Historic, If Not Miraculous!

President Donald J. Trump is celebrating arguably the best first 1,000 days for any President in US history since Washington.  In spite of the fact that no President since Lincoln has faced the massive attacks coming from his adversaries that this President has faced.

Below is a list of President Trump’s many major accomplishments his first 1,000 days in office.

Pelosi Again Refuses To Hold Impeachment Vote

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Cal.), has again refused to hold a House floor vote to formally start an impeachment investigation. I have previously said that the allegation of self-dealing in the Ukrainian call could be an impeachable offense if a quid pro quo is established. However, Pelosi has undermined the position of the House by refusing to allow a vote that preceded the investigations in the Nixon and Clinton impeachments. As I stated in a recent column, this is a mistake if House Democrats are serious about pursuing an impeachment. Recently, in the case concerning Trump tax records, one of the three judges dissented on the basis that there has been no vote to establish the start of an impeachment investigation. Pelosi seems to believe that she can hold a press conference and expect courts to accept that a formal impeachment process has begun. Some judges are likely to be uncomfortable with such an immaculate impeachment.

Pelosi announced Tuesday that she will not hold the vote despite calls from many to follow past practices.

Elderly Vet's Guns Confiscated After He Voices Concern About Potential School Shooting

There’s no reason for Americans to fret over “red flag” laws that give sweeping gun confiscation powers to local governments, right? After all, if you’re not a criminal, what’s the problem?

At least that’s the general response voiced by many on the left whenever gun owners speak up. But a disturbing incident in Massachusetts is raising hard questions about those firearms seizure laws, especially when it comes to due process.

According to LifeZette and The Martha’s Vineyard Times, an 84-year-old veteran had his legally owned firearms confiscated by local police after a waitress misheard part of a conversation between him and a friend.

The impeachment inquiry won't make Trump any less trustworthy to his supporters: (50% Approval today)

The impeachment inquiry won't make Trump any less trustworthy to his supporters

Wednesday, October 16, 2019
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove.
He has actually been able to shift the dial on what is deemed acceptable behavior and maintain a perception of trustworthiness, at least amongst his supporters.
Brad Parscale, Donald Trump’s campaign manager, boldly went on record stating an impeachment inquiry will “only serve to embolden and energize President Trump’s supporters and create a landslide victory for the president.” He may well be right, but whether or not the impeachment inquiry energizes his supporters might have nothing to do with whether or not Trump is vindicated.

Whether or not Trump is proven guilty of wrongdoing or of lying, for many of his supporters, the

impeachment inquiry is unlikely to prove him any less trustworthy.
