Woodward: White House Tells Me "You Will Regret Doing This"

Via Daily Timewaster

The Collectivists are reaching for one bridge too far.

My Resignation

Via III Percent Patriots

I spent but 4 years serving in the U.S.M.C.  That was 40 years ago. I have never deserted my Oath nor will I.  I'm not as young as then, not as capable nor as strong.  This one thing I am: more determined today to defend and protect whatever of mine that would be placed at risk by those of you who would subvert my peaceful existence.

I do not want this fight which you and your kind have instigated. This fight frightens me to my very core - not for my sake because I've been blessed beyond my deserving.  I fear for my children's children and what they will suffer in unacceptable loss of individual and collective freedoms.

I don't look to fight but I am armed and will remain so in anticipation of your conspiratorial aggresion which will inevitably reach out personally against me and mine. You have made this a personal fight and I take it very personally. When you do come, with your overwhelming numbers and machinery, I will not run. It has been expressed that your numbers in public actions display the level of fear you have of us. Your fears are well founded. God as my witness, when you come, there will be those of you who will not "go home safe".  We must not lose.  Nor may we neglect to rise up in fury with the full force of wounded Liberty.

Colorado Wants To Hold 'Assault Weapon' Owners, Sellers, and Makers Liable

Colorado Senate President John Morse unveiled the details of a new gun-control bill aimed squarely at those who own, sell or manufacture a class of weapons he says have “no public benefit” and “no business on our streets or in our forests”: military-style assault weapons.

The bill will hold gun sellers and manufacturers liable for damage caused by their weapons if they don’t conform to “the highest degree of care” in ensuring those weapons aren’t sold to future criminals. It makes owners of such weapons responsible for every shot fired outside the confines of a private residence.

“You fire this weapon, you own that bullet, whatever it does,” Morse said during a press conference announcing the details of the bill, which will be introduced in the state Senate on Wednesday.

The bill defines an “assault rifle” as any firearm other than a handgun, shotgun, bolt-action or lever-action rifle.

“These guns are four times as powerful as handguns,” he said. “That means they’re more effective at killing, they’re more efficient at killing, and they do a lot more collateral damage when they’re used.”

Tell us how you really feel - The time for petty negotiation is over. Such tactics will only serve to further arouse the hunger of the diversity beast. Insurrection fueled by the illuminating hatred of a thousand suns is the path to progress. Be not afraid. Let the filth and the flotsam know how you feel. Stand up for what is right and true for once in your life, and when they fight back with futile gestures of passive aggressive snark, drive your sword deeper in their guts. To the hilt. And don't stop until they're on their knees begging forgiveness. At which point you finish them off.

The Fiasco of Radical Reconstruction

 http://www.xtimeline.com/__UserPic_Large/46522/evt091204044400544.jpg

The study of the postwar Republican party often reveals a political organization seeking power at any cost, and an abolitionist movement that was simply an expedient for the destruction of the American South politically and economically. The transcendentalists and Unitarian radicals drifted off after the war without a cause to embrace; the Republicans had their desired political hegemony which would only be slightly interrupted by Grover Cleveland, and finally with Woodrow Wilson.

Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman
North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission
www.ncwbts150.com
"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

The Fiasco of Radical Reconstruction:

“By 1867, [Wendell] Phillips and “a little band of abolitionists he represented, like Robespierre and the Jacobins, believed that their will was the General Will” and looked for the federal government to establish and maintain an equal political and social position for the Negro in the South, by as much force as proved necessary. They were groping for something like the modern welfare state – foreshadowed as it was by pragmatic programs of the time like the Freedmen’s Bureau – but their intense hatred of the white South prevented a rational approach.

As a result, “Radical Reconstruction,” as it finally emerged from the Congressional cauldron, was a set of half-measures. Not faced was the problem of how a despised, impoverished, and largely illiterate minority was to maintain its rights in the face of a determined majority in full possession of economic and social power. The fiasco of Radical Reconstruction had begun.

Republican opportunism was important [in this fiasco]. There was the desire to get the Southern States readmitted to the Union under Republican control in time to deliver critical votes in 1868 and thereafter.

While idealists like Carl Shurz, Charles Sumner, Charles Francis Adams, and Horace Greeley were deserting the Republican party and the Reconstruction program to set up the abortive Liberal Republican movement of 1872, that cause of the Southern Negro was taken up and further discredited by political opportunists of the regular party organization.

The issues of the war were kept alive in the seventies and eighties as a Republican campaign technique – a way of recalling the “disloyalty” of the Democrats by “waving the bloody shirt.” In the character of Senator Dilworthy in The Gilded Age, Mark Twain has provided an unforgettable portrait of the Republican politician making unscrupulous use of the “Negro question” for his own ends.

The Reconstruction era was a perplexing time for intellectuals who had been antislavery militants before and during the war. Unable to support the sordid Grant administration and filled with doubts about the form that Radical Reconstruction was taking in the South, they had little to offer in the way of insight or inspiration.

William Dean Howells, who had once been a fervent abolitionist, intimated as editor of the Atlantic Monthly in 1869 that he was tired of the Negro question. Howell’s diminishing interest in the Negro, which reflected the disenchantment of the New England literary community in general, was further manifested in subsequent issues of the Atlantic.”

Fight Like a Girl: The Little Girl Speaks TRUTH

Remember our story about Katelyn Francis? We ran it about a month ago. Here's an English paper she wrote. You're gonna love it. This Missouri 13 year old 3-gun competitor is one of our heroes.

FIGHT LIKE A GIRL.

Everyone kept asking if I would post my English paper over the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 but my dad said I couldn't post it. Alot of people were asking if my school was ok with me writting about this subject, they are very supportive of my shooting and I'm very appreciative of that. My mom talked him into it so here it is:

The Assault Weapons Ban of 1994

By: Katie Francis

In 1994 Bill Clinton approved an assault weapons ban. The ban was not just for assault weapons; it also covered any magazines holding 10 or more rounds of ammunition. It also banned guns that had certain characteristics. If you had any of the following things on your rifle, it was banned: bayonet mounts, barrel shrouds, folding or telescoping stocks, flash suppressors or barrels threaded to accept them, and pistol grips (Wintersteen). If your pistol had any of the following, it was banned also: magazines that attach outside the pistol grip, any semi-auto version of a fully automatic pistol, barrels threaded to accept extensions, suppressors, flash suppressors, or hand grips, barrel shrouds, and pistols with unloaded weights of 50 ounces or more (Wintersteen). If your shotgun had any of the following, it was banned: magazine capacities of five shells or more, folding or telescoping stocks, pistol grips, and detachable magazines (Wintersteen). So did the assault weapons ban of 1994 work? The facts will show that the ban did nothing to stop or even slow down violent crimes with guns.

The crime rates during the ban were not reduced. The last year the ban was in effect, 5.7 out of every 100,000 deaths were from gun related crimes (Lott)."We cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nation’s recent drop in gun violence. And, indeed, there has been no discernible reduction in the lethality and injuriousness of gun violence" (Ban on Assault Weapons). In the study done by the U.S. Department of Justice, they found that "The ban has failed to reduce the average number of victims per gun murder incident or multiple gunshot wound victims"(Roth). This clearly shows that even with a ban on assault weapons, the crime rates did not go down.

Since 2004, when the ban expired, overall violent and murder crime rates went down instead of going up like the government thought they would. In 2003 the gun related deaths were 5.7 out of every 100,000 crimes, in 2011 the gun related murders were 4.7 out of every 100,000 crimes (Lott). "The ban did not produce declines in the average number of victims per incident of gun murder or gun murder victims with multiple wounds" (Assault Weapons).
From the years 1985 to 1994, the number of mass shootings were 173 (Assault-weapons). The number of victims were 766 (Assault-weapons). In the years 1995 to 2004, the years the ban were in effect, the number of mass shootings were 182 (Assault-weapons). The number of victims were 830 (Assault-weapons). During the ban the number of mass shootings went up by almost 10 shootings. This does not seem like very many. On the other hand the number of victims during the ban went up by over 60 victims. How could this be if the government banned the weapons that had the ability to shoot more people faster and were able to hold more rounds? It would seem that fewer people would be shot without all the so-called assault rifles around.

Ron Paul: Federal agents should be disarmed?

http://davidkretzmann.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/in-matters-of-principle.jpg

VERBATIM

In Ron Paul’s latest “Texas Straight Talk” titled When They Came For The Raw Milk Drinkers…,” he takes on the issue of gun control and armed Federal agents and says that if there is anyone that should be disarmed it is Federal agents, because the “use of force by federal agents to enforce unjust and unconstitutional laws is one of the major, albeit overlooked, threats to liberty.”

Paul writes, “While I oppose most gun control proposals, there is one group of Americans I do believe should be disarmed: federal agents. The use of force by federal agents to enforce unjust and unconstitutional laws is one of the major, albeit overlooked, threats to liberty. Too often Americans are victimized by government force simply for engaging in commercial transactions disproved of by Congress and the federal bureaucracy.”

Paul presented the numerous raids by armed federal and state agents on the offices of Rawesome Foods in Venice, California. Founder James Stewart, 65, has also been imprisoned. “For what?” you ask. Rawesome sold unpasteurized (raw) milk and cheese to willing customers – in a state where raw milk is legal! You cannot even drink milk from a cow without a federal permit!

Paul also pointed out that this is not the only case in which Federal agents felt the need to bust up “raw milk terrorists.”

“In 2011 armed agents of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided the business of Pennsylvanian Amish farmer Dan Allgyer,” Paul writes. “Federal agents wasted a whole year and who knows how many millions of our tax dollars posing as customers in order to stop Allgyer from selling his raw milk to willing customers.”

“The use of force against individuals making choices not approved of by the political elite does not just stop with raw milk,” the former Texas Congressman writes. Of course, Natural News, makes it a point to cover these injustices, and they are injustices. We’ve covered many of these incidents here at Freedom Outpost.

Paul also points out how Federal bureaucrats seek to crackdown on makers of gold coins as alternatives to the fiat currency produced by the Federal Reserve. “Bernard von NotHaus, the founder of Liberty Dollars, is currently awaiting sentencing on federal counterfeiting charges — even though Mr. von NotHaus took steps to ensure his coins where not used as ‘legal tender.’”

It gets worse. The Federal government ended up labeling Mr. von NotHaus a “terrorist.” A terrorist! Seriously?

“These type of police state tactics used against, among others, raw milk producers, alternative health providers, and gold coin dealers,” Paul writes, “is justified by the paternalistic attitude common in Washington, D.C. A member of Congress actually once told me that, ‘The people need these types of laws because they do not know what is good for them.’ This mindset fuels the growth of the nanny state and inevitably leads to what C.S. Lewis said may be the worst from of tyranny ‘…a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims.’”

Paul then issues a warning and a call to action.
“All Americans, even if they do not believe it is a wise choice to drink raw milk or use gold coins, should be concerned about the use of force to limit our choices. This is because there is no limiting principle to the idea that the government force is justified if used “for our own good.” Today it is those who sell raw milk who are being victimized by government force, tomorrow it could be those who sell soda pop or Styrofoam cups. Therefore, all Americans should speak out against these injustices.”

Walter Jones speaks for many

My representative.

February 27, 2013

Though some anti-war activists may say it is too little too late while others are saying better late than never – all in response to comments this past weekend by Rep. Walter Jones (R-District 3) – we know that our Representative in the U.S. House had his transformation years ago. However, no matter how he is viewed by the public, you can be sure the more conservative branch of the GOP is angered.

The Huffington Post reports that Jones, speaking at a Young Americans for Liberty conference in Raleigh on Sunday, said that former Vice President Dick Cheney would probably end up in hell for the Iraq War. “Congress will not hold anyone to blame. Lyndon Johnsonʼs probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney,” Jones said.

The YAL is a group that was formed during former Rep. Ron Paulʼs (R-Texas) 2008 presidential campaign. Jones credited Paul for helping him understand, “if youʼre ever going to send young men and women to die, it needs to be with the Constitution and debated by the Congress.” He also called the U.S. the drone policy “absolutely unconstitutional.” “When that drone comes to America from a foreign country, weʼre going to wonder what in the hell hit us,” he said.

True, Rep. Jones did come to condemn the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan after voting to invade in 2003, but since he came to his current understanding, he has been both unwavering and unapologetic – all while constantly supporting our military.

We applaud his honesty.

I don't know where else in the world that you can get this type of instruction for $20 per clinic.
I know that it is very difficult to find 22 long rifle ammo right now.

So, we have cut the number of rounds you will need down to 200. Please begin right now looking for ammo (if you need it) because it will be hard to find.

If you want to come and can't find any ammo, give me a call at 912.618.8112. I have a very limited amount of my stock that I will be willing to sell for $.10 per round (my replacement cost) to those that give me their word of honour that they don't have what they need to shoot the course. I don't want to sell my ammo to replace yours. Only to help you shoot the course and I only have a very limited amount.

I you want to come, please reply as soon as possible. I will send everyone who does a list of equipment, directions and motels (if needed).

Sell a gun to someone who smokes a joint, get 20 years in jail

It’s Looney Toons on Capitol Hill.

Everyone’s heard about the “red herring” Feinstein Gun Ban, which “red state Democrats” will vote down in order to pretend they’re “pro-gun.”

But the bigger danger is that Obama will sign “non-controversial” gun control which is just as dangerous, but no one but us is talking about.

Take the gun licensure bill which anti-gunners are trying to dub the “gun trafficking bill.”  In the Senate, the bill is S. 54, and was introduced by Judiciary Committee Chairman Pat Leahy (D-VT) -- although it appears that it could have been drafted by an intern.

GOOFBALL PROVISION #1:  The bill would impose a 20-year prison term if you planned (“conspired”) to purchase a firearm in order to give or raffle it to a person who, unbeknownst to you, is a “prohibited person.”

Who is a prohibited person?

Well, there are the 150,000 law-abiding veterans who are “prohibited persons” –- for no other reason than that a psychiatrist appointed a fiduciary to oversee their financial affairs.

But probably the biggest category of “prohibited persons” is persons who smoke marijuana.  Under 18 U.S.C. 922(d)(3) and (g)(3), you cannot possess a firearm in America if you are “an unlawful user of ... any controlled substance...”

In over a dozen states, marijuana has been wholly or partly legalized under STATE law.

It doesn’t matter ... if you even think about selling or raffling a gun to this expanding class of persons, you can go to prison for 20 years under S. 54.

GOOFBALL PROVISION #2:  The bill would make you a federal “prohibited person” if you are prohibited from owning a gun under “State or local law.”

What does that even mean?

In places like New York and Chicago, everyone is prohibited from owning a firearm without a license.  Does that mean that everyone in these jurisdictions is a federal “prohibited person” under S. 54?

What if someone applies for a license and is found not to have a need to possess one?  Under the slip-shod language of the Leahy bill, these individuals would probably become federal “prohibited persons” because the bill denies any person from owning a firearm if they are “prohibited by STATE OR LOCAL LAW from possessing, receiving, selling, shipping, transporting, transferring, or otherwise disposing of the firearm or ammunition.” (S. 54, Section 5.)

Oh, incidentally, under the Veterans Disarmament Act, states are required to send the names of 95% of their prohibited persons to the FBI’s NICS system -– or lose federal funding.

So now you will have millions of law-abiding citizens -- living in places like New York City and Chicago -- who have their names placed in the NICS system.  And the Leahy bill doesn’t address some very important questions related to their status as gun owners.

How will these banned citizens get their names cleared? The federal government has for years continued enforcing the Schumer amendment which defunds the ability of the ATF to restore the rights of non-violent prohibited persons. Will New Yorkers and Chicagoans get their gun rights restored after they move away from the localities that banned them from owning guns and which turned them into prohibited persons?

Again, the bill doesn’t say.  But we could expect that a few years from now, a future anti-gun President could use the language in S. 54 to impose a federal licensure requirement on these persons -- as part of a new 23-point Executive Action memo -- and make non-licensees federal prohibited persons (with all that that implies).

Maybe –- just maybe -– the courts would save us from the implications of Leahy’s goofball language.

But answer us this:  Why do anti-gun senators and representatives continue to push language which they know is fatally flawed –- just so they can say they “broke the back of the gun lobby”?

The solution is clear:  Senators –- if they are pro-gun -– MUST vote against a “motion to proceed” to any of this goofball legislation.  That is, they must vote to keep ALL gun control from even being considered on the Senate floor.

ACTIONClick here to contact your Senators.  Urge him to vote against any motion to proceed to goofball anti-gun bills like S. 54.

Liberty Institute: American Legion Should Be Heard in N.C. Veterans Memorial Case

Another veterans memorial is under attack.

Last week, Liberty Institute filed a motion on behalf of The American Legion and The American Legion Post 290 of King, N.C., seeking to have these veterans organizations included in a pending lawsuit over the constitutionality of a veterans memorial in King’s Central Park.

In 2009, the local Legion Post 209 donated half of the funds, and contributed to the design of a veterans memorial that includes a statue of a soldier kneeling before a cross-shaped headstone. Each year, The American Legion participates in patriotic Memorial Day and 9-11 events at the site.

In 2012, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which claims it is “dedicated to preserving the principle of church-state separation,” filed a lawsuit against the city of King on behalf of resident Steven Hewett. The group alleges the statue violates the U.S. and North Carolina constitutions because it contains religious imagery and sits on public land.

Journalist Bob Woodward blasts Obama "madness" in handling cuts

Via Billy

http://images.sodahead.com/polls/003549249/171415046_obama_lenin_posterlarge_718694woattribution_answer_1_xlarge.jpeg

Journalist Bob Woodward on Wednesday criticized Barack Obama's handling of the automatic U.S. budget cuts set to take effect this week, calling the president's decision to hold back on military deployments "madness."

His comments continued what has become a running dispute between Woodward, perhaps the country's best-known print journalist, and the Democratic White House over who is responsible for the across-the-board cuts scheduled to begin on Friday.

Last week, Woodward published an opinion piece in the Washington Post - where he is an associate editor - saying the administration was "wrong" to blame the cuts on Republicans.

That drew retorts from White House press secretary Jay Carney, who in posts on Twitter and later in comments to reporters blamed the budget stalemate on Republican opposition to including increased revenues in any deal to replace the cuts.

The $85 billion across-the-board budget cuts were mandated by Congress and the White House as part of the August 2011 deal to avoid a government default. The reductions are split between defense spending and domestic programs.

Woodward, who first gained fame in the 1970s from exposing the Watergate scandal during the administration of President Richard Nixon, wrote a detailed account in his 2012 book, "The Price of Politics," of the August 2011 deal that led to the cuts.

On Wednesday he attacked Obama for drawing national security into the budget debate.

Club for Growth Targets GOP Incumbents for Defeat

 http://sg.wsj.net/public/resources/images/NA-AX736_CLUB_NS_20090517214416.gif

The conservative Club for Growth has launched a website identifying nine GOP House members it calls insufficiently conservative, and urges readers to assist in finding challengers to take them on.

The site, www.PrimaryMyCongressman.com, went live Wednesday, Politico reports.

The nine incumbents represent districts where Mitt Romney earned more than 60 percent of the vote in last year's presidential election. All of them received lifetime ratings of less than 70 percent from the Club for Growth.

They are Reps. Mike Simpson of Idaho, Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, Rick Crawford of Arkansas, Frank Lucas of Oklahoma, Steve Palazzo of Mississippi, Martha Roby of Alabama, Larry Bucshon of Indiana, Renee Ellmers of North Carolina, and Aaron Schock of Illinois.

Club for Growth plans to rotate targets for defeat as next year's election approaches.

States Being Held in Unions Against Their Will?

http://www.tomwoods.com/wp-content/themes/tomwoods2011/images/slider/lcbanner.jpg

In our forums, a member asks Brion McClanahan, a faculty member at Liberty Classroom:
Watching your lectures at Tom Woods’ Liberty Classroom and am seeking other examples of sovereign political bodies forced to remain in a union.  Khrushchev forced Hungary to remain in USSR in 1956 so I often ask others if he shouldn’t be heralded as a hero too, along with Lincoln, given that Lincoln’s stated purpose was to maintain the Union, not abolish slavery. A war waged by the U.N. to keep a departing member in that body is another (hypothetical) example. Are there any other examples you know of that might also help me make this point?
Here is Prof. McClanahan’s reply:

There are countless historical examples of “sovereign political bodies forced to remain in a union.”  Too often Americans think that the only instances of forced centralization are found in the nineteenth-century United States and in twentieth-century Europe, but the general trend of history has been one of centralization and tyranny under a strict definition, meaning the arrogation of power to an individual or central entity.  This could be classified as imperialism, be it economic, political, or cultural.  Individual liberty and decentralization have been fleeting concepts in human history and are typically made possible only through dedicated efforts on the part of vigilant defenders, often at great cost.  Centralization and its evil step-child nationalism tend to conserve the imperial culture at the expense of tradition.  This is why the founding generation, a group of men well versed in the classics, understood that their political experiment—a decentralized federal republic—would quickly descend into monarchy unless Americans firmly embraced both republicanism and a dedication to the preservation of life, liberty, and property, and why no American should champion imperialism at home or abroad.  Simply put, imperialism and centralization are un-American.

Forbes Lists America's 20 'Most Miserable Cities'; Guess What The Vast Majority Have in Common?

Click to visit the original post

Forbes just published its 20 Most Miserable Cities List for 2013. The magazine left off several obviously more "worthy" contenders, perhaps because its decisions to include and exclude certain criteria were, to say the least, more than a little odd.

I have listed the magazine's top twenty following the jump, along with each city's mayor and that person's political leanings, showing a commonality the magazine's Kurt Badenhausen failed to observe:
20. Youngstown, Ohio -- Charles P. Sammarone, Democrat
19. Gary, Indiana -- Karen Freeman-Wilson, Democrat
18. Poughkeepsie, New York -- John C. Tkazyik, Republican
17. Cleveland, Ohio -- Frank Jackson, Democrat
16. Atlanta, Georgia -- Kasim Reed, Democrat
15. Atlantic City, New Jersey -- Lorenzo Langford, Democrat
14. Milwaukee, Wisconsin -- Tom Barrett, Democrat
13. Camden, New Jersey -- Dana Redd, Democrat
12. St. Louis, Missouri -- Francis Slay, Democrat
11. Toledo, Ohio -- Michael Bell, ran as an independent but is a lifelong Democrat
10. New York, New York -- Michael Bloomberg, Nanny State "Independent" since 2007; Democrat before 2001; ran as a Republican in 2001 just to get a spot on the ballot.
9. Waukegan, Illinois -- Robert G. Sabonjian, Democrat (see first paragraph following this list)
8. Stockton, California -- Anthony Silva, a Republican sworn into office by Democrat and former California Assembly Speaker Willie Brown.
7. Warren, Michigan -- James Fouts, Republican
6. Vallejo, California -- Osby Davis, Not determinable
5. Modesto, California -- Garrad Marsh, "non-partisan," clear Democrat sympathies
4. Chicago, Illinois -- Rahm Emanuel, Democrat
3. Rockford, Illinois -- Larry Morrissey, Independent
2. Flint, Michigan -- Dayne Walling, "nonpartisan," formerly worked for U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee, a Democrat
1. Detroit, Michigan -- Dave Bing, Democrat
Those who verify my links will notice that Forbes really listed Lake County, Illinois at Number 9. Sorry guys, a city is a city, and a county isn't. Waukegan is Lake County's county seat, and definitely deserves its spot on the list.

So the lineup (classifying Bloomberg, Toledo's Bell, Modesto's Marsh, and Flint's Walling as Dems, which philosophically is clearly what they are):

- Democrats -- 15
- Republicans -- 3
- Independent/not determinable -- 2

No CPAC Invite for Christie Because of ‘Limited Future’ in Republican Party

New Jersey governor Chris Christie was not invited to address the Conservative Political Action Conference because of his position on gun control, according to a source familiar with CPAC’s internal deliberations who requested anonymity to speak freely.

Christie has a “limited future” in the national Republican party given his position on gun control, the source tells National Review Online. As a result, the CPAC insider says, the focus of this year’s conference, “the future of conservatism,” made Christie a bad fit.

Christie, the source adds, is simply not a conservative in the eyes of organizers.

Brewer: Release of Hundreds of Illegals Ahead of Cuts 'Height of Absurdity'

Arizona officials — from the statehouse to Capitol Hill — were outraged on Tuesday at the Obama administration’s release of hundreds of illegal immigrants held in local jails to save money as huge budget cuts loom.

“I’m appalled to learn the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has begun to release hundreds of illegal aliens from custody, the first of potentially thousands to soon be freed under the guise of federal budget cuts,” said Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, who has long battled the White House on immigration matters. “This is pure political posturing and the height of absurdity, given that the releases are being granted before the federal sequestration cuts have even gone into effect.”

In Pinal County, about 70 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, Sheriff Paul Babeau told Newsmax that the release of hundreds of detainees over the weekend was “outrageous and unacceptable because there’s a direct and immediate impact to public safety of families in my county.”

“These are criminal illegals,” Babeau said. “They were headed for deportation — but now, they have received a budget pardon.”

An Advanced Placement World Geography teacher at a Texas high school who encouraged students to dress in Islamic clothing also instructed them to refer to the 9-11 hijackers not as terrorists – but as “freedom fighters,” according to students who were in the class.

Students at Lumberton High School were also told to stop referring to the Holocaust as Genocide – instead they were told to use the term “ethnic cleansing.”

John Valastro, the superintendent of the Lumberton Independent School District, told Fox News that the teacher did absolutely nothing wrong.

“What is more dangerous – fear and ignorance or education and understanding,” he asked. “From our standpoint, we are here to educate the kids.”

Valastro said the teacher involved is a 32-year veteran who was simply following state teaching guidelines.
“I don’t think my freshman-level teacher was trying to politicize radical Islam or anything like that,” he told Fox News. “I don’t think our teacher has..to my knowledge ever converted a single student to Islam.”

Arkansas Senate passes bill on concealed guns on college campuses

Faculty and staff members in Arkansas are one step closer to legally carrying concealed handguns on the state's college campuses.

The Republican-controlled Arkansas state Senate voted 31 to 4 on Monday to allow colleges and universities to decide themselves whether to allow concealed weapons on their campuses. The bill previously passed the Republican-controlled Arkansas state House 70 to 11.

The bill now goes to Governor Mike Beebe, a Democrat. He is expected to sign the legislation.

Dershowitz Takes New Shots at Prosecutor in Trayvon Martin Case

Famed defense lawyer Alan Dershowitz has launched a new attack on the prosecutor trying George Zimmerman for the murder of Trayvon Martin.

Florida State Attorney Angela Cory “has a reputation for always overcharging and then trying to reduce the charges as part of a plea bargain,’’ Dershowitz told Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.’

“She doesn’t want the case to go to trial if it’s at all possible to avoid so her tactic is to overcharge and essentially extort the defendant into pleading to a lesser defense.’’

His incendiary remarks come on the first anniversary of the death of 17-year-old Martin, who was shot by Zimmerman, a volunteer neighborhood watch captain, as he walked to a home he was visiting in Sanford.

Zimmerman, who was legally licensed to carry a gun, got into a fight with Martin and under the state’s Stand Your Ground law may have justification for the use of lethal force if he felt his life was in jeopardy.

Dershowitz enraged Cory last summer when he criticized her prosecution tactics, so much so that she called the Dean of Harvard Law School, where he teaches, to complain and reportedly threatened to sue for libel.

But the threat has not stopped Dershowitz from expressing his opinion about her.

GRNC Update: SB 124 & Sen. Brunstetter

An important update …

NC Senate Bill 124 ("Shoot Gun From Inside/To Harm or Incite Fear"): Many of you have expressed concerns that Sen. Pete Brunstetter might have introduced the bill as a means of undermining our recently enacted Castle Doctrine law. Brunstetter has replied he has no such intention and did, in fact, vote for Castle Doctrine.

By all accounts, the bill was introduced at the behest of law enforcement due to a shooting incident inside a Kernersville Walmart. Six lawyers with whom GRNC has consulted feel the bill would not undermine Castle Doctrine, but could have a negative impact on other lawful firearm activities. Sen. Brunstetter has indicated willingness to work with us on language, and GRNC is meeting with his staff on Wednesday. We will keep you apprised of the situation.

Hurray for Washington!

The culmination of last night’s Oscars broadcast with a Live! feed from the White House with Mrs. Obama (hangin’ with her military BFs) marks the official recognition of the Presidency as theater: like the old Western sets, no substance required.

From the very beginning, President Obama was elected based on his strong delivery of stirring words, “Hope and change,” with no serious vetting of his record or policies. Having been awarded the presidency, as the Oscars follow the Golden Globes, Mr. Obama was next awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, solely for his well-scripted promises for peace.

And thus the facade continues:

Magpul to Flood Colorado with Cheap 30-Round Magazines

Via TSP

 2011-07-08_09-07-39_338

Magpul just announced via Facebook that they are planning to install an express lane for Colorado customers to buy PMAGs directly from the factory, and will be offering flat rate $5 shipping anywhere in the state. Thanks to the impending legislation that would make simple possession of an inanimate object a crime, Magpul is going to do its best to get these mags into the hands of as many Colorado residents as possible before the ban goes into effect. Their limit will be 10 per customer, with full details to follow. Make the jump for the full skinny .

We are proud to announce that within a matter of days we will be going live with a new program. Due to a bill currently moving through the Colorado legislature, there is the possibility that Colorado residents’ ability to purchase standard capacity magazines will soon be infringed. Before that happens, and Magpul is forced to leave the state in order to keep to our principles, we will be doing our best to get standard capacity PMAGs into the hands of any Colorado resident that wants them.
