Politico Admits Democrats ‘Dread’ Fast Economic Rebound

 

The far-left Politico admitted Tuesday that Democrats are “dreading” the idea of a fast economic boom as America reopens, which explains the anti-science push among many Democrat governors to extend their pointless coronavirus lockdowns.

Thanks to these lockdowns, some 40 million people are unemployed, some 40 million lives have been shattered; lines at food pantries seem to go on forever; countless small businesses are in danger of closing or already have… Nevertheless, what America’s oh-so compassionate Democrats dread most is a quick economic rebound that might undermine their grasping desire to hold on to and obtain power.

Tommy Tuberville Criticized For Opposing “True Confederate History”

Yesterday evening, Roger K. Broxton, the President of the Confederate Heritage Fund wrote an open letter to The Dothan Eagle, criticizing former Auburn football coach and AL GOP Senate front-runner Tommy Tuberville for opposing “true confederate history”. The letter begins by citing the fact that Alabama is one of five states to declare April “Confederate History Month.”

“April is Confederate History Month in Alabama, as proclaimed by the state school board and governor.” the letter begins.

“Our Confederate veterans defended the voluntary union of independent states, established by the Founding Fathers, from Abraham Lincoln’s brutal invasion to collect his oppressive 200% tax on steel.”

‘A Year's Worth of Suicide Attempts in Four Weeks’: The Unintended Consequences of COVID-19 Lockdowns

Stay-at-home orders come with a host of unintended consequences that we have not yet even begun to measure or understand. 

The costs of the government responses to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic have been severe. New evidence suggests they could be even worse than we imagined.

An ABC affiliate in California reports that doctors at John Muir Medical Center tell them they have seen more deaths by suicide than COVID-19 during the quarantine.

“The numbers are unprecedented,” said Dr. Michael deBoisblanc, referring to the spike in suicides.
"We've never seen numbers like this, in such a short period of time," deBoisblanc added. "I mean we've seen a year's worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks."

Guidance is one thing; law is another

Recently, the Board of Health of the City of Nashua NH recommended that the Board of Aldermen approve a new ordinance.  This ordinance, a reaction to the Covid-19 virus, is named Nashua Ordinance O-20-18, "Relative to Face Coverings."  The ordinance may be viewed at https://www.nashuanh.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/6403

Let me begin by saying that if someone wants to wear a mask because they feel that it would protect themselves from others, I’m fine with it.  If someone wants to wear a mask to protect others from themselves, I approve.  These are their personal choices. 

As “guidance”, the ordinance contains several good ideas.  But as a legally enforceable ordinance (obey or pay a fine, or possibly be brought to court), the ordinance fails.  There are far too many deficiencies that act as anti-business measures, and others that cause unnecessary confusion.

The Army announced today that Maj. Richard H. Pearce, who it said deserted to Cuba more than 12 years ago, had returned voluntarily to the United States.

The announcement said that Major Pearce, 49 years old, of Birmingham, Ala., landed at Miami this afternoon and was flown to Fort Bragg, N.C., where the Army said “the disposition of his case” would be determined.

Highest-ranking officer to defect during in Cold War era was from Fort Sam 

 He was dismissed from the service and given a one-year prison sentence for desertion by a court-martial at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The sentence was voided, but he forfeited more than $200,000 in pay and allowances. (One year for desertion wonder how thy came up with that?)

He sure screwed up as if he had stayed in he would have probably retired as a LTC.

The Confederate Cavalry Leader Most Feared by Union Generals: “I’ll be damned if I’ll surrender.”

 

The battles of Fort Henry and Fort Donelson in February 1862 were the first two significant victories for the Union. They also demonstrated an important Union strategy that many believe was the ultimate key to Union defeat of Confederate resistance. They set out to dominate the water transportation lifelines critical to the Southern economy and military defense. They were eventually able to dominate these critical arteries with a “Brown Water Navy” of gunboats. The South had few such resources to oppose them.  Fort Henry was on the Tennessee River in west-middle Tennessee near the Kentucky border. Fort Donelson was about 12 miles to the east on the Cumberland River. The commander of Fort Henry was West Point graduate and engineering inspector Brigadier General Lloyd Tilghman, from Paducah, Kentucky. Tilghman had realized that both forts Henry and Donelson were defective defensive positions but put up a valiant battle before surrendering to a Union siege on February 6, 1862. Meanwhile he had secretly moved most of his of his troops to Fort Donelson.

The ‘Liberal Leaning’ Media Has Passed Its Tipping Point: A return to balance would be commercially unviable. The best solution may be an honest embrace of bias.

About 35 years ago I was sitting at lunch next to Jeane Kirkpatrick, a onetime Democrat who became a foreign-policy adviser to President Reagan and later U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. She was lamenting what she called the “liberal leaning” media. As the president of CBS News, I assured her it was only a “liberal tilt” and could be corrected.

“You don’t understand,“ she scolded. “It’s too late.”

Kirkpatrick was prophetic. The highly influential daily newspapers in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Boston are now decidedly liberal. On the home screen, the three broadcast network divisions still have their liberal tilt. Two of the three leading cable news sources are unrelentingly liberal in their fear and loathing of President Trump.
