The Attack on “Dixie” in Sports and Music

 

Sound was the first victim of the attack on southern heritage. In October 1971, the University of Georgia’s “Dixie Redcoat Marching Band”  dropped the word “Dixie” from its name and discontinued playing the song “Dixie” after the National Anthem. Many people, even to this day, will argue that “Dixie” was played and perpetuated to uphold white supremacy. But the tradition goes much further back in college football history, specifically to when the University of Alabama defeated the University of Washington in the 1926 Rose Bowl. The Atlanta Georgian labeled the 1926 Rose Bowl victory as “the greatest victory for the South since the first battle of Bull Run.” The Atlanta Journal argued the football team belonged in the pantheon of Confederate leaders Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson: “The Crimson Tide no longer belongs exclusively to Tuscaloosa and the state of Alabama. It belongs to the whole South just like the Stone Mountain Memorial.” In addition, after the Alabama Crimson Tide returned to the Rose Bowl in 1927, the marching band performed the song “Dixie” as the players stormed the field.

Every now and then one encounters an illustration of what’s wrong with conservatism, inc. that’s so egregious that one feels obliged to comment. And this happened to me just the other day! On June 14 Townhall featured an essay in support of John James, the Republican senatorial candidate in Michigan. This commentary almost managed to get me to donate to James’s Democratic opponent.

For those who don’t know, James is a black former army officer with a distinguished military record, a West Point graduate, and a successful businessman. The Republicans, for all I know, may have made a sound choice in deciding to run James. His standard GOP views and military prowess will probably serve him well in most regions of Michigan. At the same time, James’s racial identity might help him penetrate the powerful Democratic hold in the heavily black Southeastern corner of the state.

Fox’s Tucker Carlson noted Thursday that Obrador has previously proposed granting amnesty to Mexican drug cartels.

Mexican presidential candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) called for mass immigration to the United States during a speech Tuesday declaring it a “human right” for all North Americans.

“And soon, very soon — after the victory of our movement — we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world,” Obrador said, adding that immigrants “must leave their towns and find a life in the United States.”

He then declared it as “a human right we will defend,” eluniversal.com reports.

Trump rips media for ignoring Angel Families 'permanently separated' by illegal immigrant crime

 

President Trump on Friday blasted what he described as a media double standard on immigration, as he honored families whose loved ones were killed by illegal immigrants and accused the press of ignoring them to focus on the plight of migrants caught crossing the border. 

After a week of saturation coverage on illegal immigrant parents separated from their children -- a policy Trump reversed under public and political pressure -- the president stressed that so-called Angel Families have been “permanently separated.”

House Passes SNAP Reform With Farm Bill

The House of Representatives passed its annual farm spending bill late Thursday afternoon, shepherding through major reforms to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The reforms would substantially overhaul the work requirements associated with SNAP, by expanding the age of eligibility and the number of parents who are covered by it. Estimates suggest that anywhere from four to seven million adults currently on the SNAP rolls would be put to work should the requirements changes be implemented. Such requirements are likely to be popular: a 2016 survey found that 87 percent of people support work requirements, including 81 percent living in poverty.

I am convinced and terrified this is true. I am old enough to remember what by comparison seems only a minor transgression by Richard Nixon, did to this country. I am not sure our Republic can withstand what was done and survive. I would like to say Obama was sole cause, but he is just the latest. This has been decades in the making. When it started, how long has this been happening, I do not know. But I do know it started after Nixon left the White House. The FBI and DOJ was fully infected by the time Clinton took office.

Had they not been totally corrupt, he would have been forced to resign. Seriously, the top executive of any company, that was exposed forcing a blow-job from an intern. That would not fly anywhere but the President did it. And did it without any consequences.

Bush became President, 9-11, happened. And any semblance of honesty or justice vanished in the government. I’m not going down the rabbit hole on 9-11, but it happened at a perfect time in history. Technology advanced to the point 100% surveillance was not only possible but easy. Education had been devolving to the point most high school graduates had never taken a civics class. Hell, they didn’t even know what the word meant. The evil USSR was gone, and we needed an enemy. I’m not going to say the American “Shadow Government” planned it. But it was convenient and perfectly timed.

It was under Bush the FBI, DOJ, and others moved from their traditional rolls. They all became weaponized. They moved from servants of government to something darker. They all began aggressively doing their jobs. Not to protect America, but to empower themselves. Each of the alphabet agencies became little kingdoms. Seeking power, influence, money, and dominion. They existed to serve themselves first and foremost.

Then came Obama. A devoted and studied Marxist. An organizer with the smooth skills of the best charlatan. He used his smooth style, amplified by the media spin machine to take control. Like a king of the Middle Ages, he made these agencies, sovereign baronies. And those leading the agencies were knighted the barons of their kingdom. And nothing a baron wants more is to please his king. Because by pleasing the king, the king’s bounty flows to them.

And then came the election. Which I still admit surprised me. Not the outcome but that there was an election. Had Hillary’s succession to the throne not been guaranteed, I still believe there would have been no election. But with the anointed queen poised to replace the king all the barons were happy. Obama would have still held sway and influence. The barons could continue as planned. And America would be one step closer to tyranny.

Then came President Trump. And we can all see the shit-storm the followed.

I fear if America learns the true depth of corruption and treason. America may not survive.

Syrian Christian Priest Claims 80% of Syria Safe: Islamic State ‘Defeated’

 

The vast majority of Syria, about 80 percent, is now safe after more than seven years of war, prompting millions of internally displaced peoples (IDPs) to return to their original homes, a Damascus-based Christian priest who leads a humanitarian aid group declared on Thursday.

His comments came during an an event hosted by the Hudson Institute, which notes that with the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) mostly degraded, U.S.-backed Kurdish forces and their allies now control nearly 30 percent of Syria, while the Russian- and Iranian-backed regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad has consolidated control over much of the rest of the country.

Archimandrite Dr. Alexi Chehadeh, the director-general of the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development (DERD) of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, acknowledged that although “80 percent” of the country is no longer under jihadist control, the people’s humanitarian and stabilization needs have become more pronounced.

Time Forced to Issue Correction: ‘The Girl Was Not Carried Away Screaming’

 

Time magazine issued a correction Friday to an article about the iconic photograph of a two-year-old Honduran girl crying as U.S. Border Patrol searched her mother at the U.S.-Mexico border earlier this month.

The media claimed that the mother and child were separated after crossing the border illegally, under President Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy. However, it emerged on Thursday that the two were never separated at all and are still together.

In addition, the mother had left Honduras without informing her husband. She had also been deported from the U.S. in 2013. And her motives for migrating appeared to be economic, not for reasons that would qualify her for asylum.

Virginia’s Chesapeake City Council voted last week to donate rather than destroy a rare World War II firearm believed to have popularized the term “assault rifle.”

The Sturmgewehr 44 (StG44) was developed by German gunsmith Hugo Schmeisser in 1942 and was used by the Nazis through the end of the war. Germany produced about 426,000, but because few ended up on North American shores, NFA-compliant models are worth nearly $30,000.

If a million, or more, armed men crossed our border, or any border, it would be considered an invasion, yet if the same number of men, women and children illegally cross our borders, unarmed, seeking our wealth and playing upon our kindness, we are expected, by the Leftists, to welcome them with open arms.

The Far Left, funded by George Soros and other moneyed Globalist Oligarchs, has as one of its goals the destruction of the USA from the inside, by overwhelming the social welfare system, the hospitals, the criminal justice system and the educational system. Overwhelming the System with a huge volume of needy people is their goal. They do not desire to solve problems. They seek to create problems. From the chaos they create, they expect to gain eventual complete power. That is their game plan.

 Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen. John McCain’s former staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee, Henry Kerner, urged top IRS officials, including then-director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner, to “audit so many that it becomes financially ruinous.”  Kerner was appointed by President Trump as Special Counsel for the United States Office of Special Counsel.

The explosive exchange was contained in notes taken by IRS employees at an April 30, 2013, meeting between Kerner, Lerner, and other high-ranking IRS officials. Just ten days following the meeting, former IRS director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner admitted that the IRS had a policy of improperly and deliberately delaying applications for tax-exempt status from conservative non-profit groups.

Obama's cybersecurity coordinator confirms Susan Rice ordered him to 'stand down' on Russian meddling

Michael Daniel confirmed Wednesday that former national security adviser Susan Rice ordered him and his staff to "stand down" in 2016 in regard to Russian attempts to meddle in the 2016 election.

Daniel, special assistant to former President Barack Obama and White House cybersecurity coordinator, told members of the Senate Intelligence Committee that quotes attributed to him in the book, Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, were an "accurate rendering of the conversation" he had with Rice and his staff.

Daniel's staff reportedly responded to the order in "disbelief."

Appearing on the Fox Business Network, Mr. Dershowitz  thinks Rod Rosenstein should be subject to a Contempt of Congress charge for not providing documents legitimately demanded by Congress.

Also, he cannot imagine why Peter Strzok STILL has a job at the FBI when he is likely guilty of treason against the United States. Dersh thinks Strzok has a lot of dirt on other wrongdoers like Rosenstein at the FBI and within the Obama admin itself  and they fear if he is fired he'll start spilling the beans and implicate them in the most serious crime in federal law.  

For me, it boggles the mind once again, I have to ask the question, "where did justice go?"

When people commit crimes that are punishable by death, like Strzok and gal-pal Lisa Page did, and yet are allowed to keep their jobs and suffer almost no consequence  - something is TERRIBLY wrong with the justice system.

In addition to that, I believe Trump should declassify ALL the relevant docs so that the FBI cannot withhold them on the bogus basis of "national security".........which they have been using as a shield to protect themselves. This is still Obama;s FBI "crew."

If you don't think Obama operated more like a mafia 'don' than a president......when you see how Obama compromised all major federal agencies and turned them into his personal political agents and bullies, you'd have to be as brain dead as Jeff Sessions (apparently) is. .

The Honduran toddler pictured sobbing in a pink jacket before U.S. President Donald Trump on an upcoming cover of Time magazine was not separated from her mother at the U.S. border, according to a man who says he is the girl’s father.

Sanchez and her daughter had left Puerto Cortes, a major Honduran port north of the capital city, Tegucigalpa, without telling Valera or the couple’s three other children, he said.

Valera said the little girl and her mother, Sandra Sanchez, have been detained together in the Texas border town of McAllen, where Sanchez has applied for asylum, and they were not separated after being detained near the border.

Honduran deputy foreign minister Nelly Jerez confirmed Valera’s version of events.
