Biometric Database of All Adult Americans Hidden in Immigration Reform
Via Daily Timewaster
The immigration reform measure the Senate began debating yesterday would create a national biometric database of virtually every adult in the U.S., in what privacy groups fear could be the first step to a ubiquitous national identification system.
Buried in the more than 800 pages of the bipartisan legislation (.pdf) is language mandating the creation of the innocuously-named “photo tool,” a massive federal database administered by the Department of Homeland Security and containing names, ages, Social Security numbers and photographs of everyone in the country with a driver’s license or other state-issued photo ID.
Employers would be obliged to look up every new hire in the database to verify that they match their photo.
This piece of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act is aimed at curbing employment of undocumented immigrants. But privacy advocates fear the inevitable mission creep, ending with the proof of self being required at polling places, to rent a house, buy a gun, open a bank account, acquire credit, board a plane or even attend a sporting event or log on the internet. Think of it as a government version of Foursquare, with Big Brother cataloging every check-in.

Surgeon: Stonewall Jackson death likely pneumonia
Historians and doctors have debated for decades what medical complications caused the death of legendary Confederate fighter Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, felled by friendly fire from his troops during the Civil War.
Shot three times while returning from scouting enemy lines in the Virginia wilderness, Jackson was badly wounded in the left arm by one of the large bullets the night of May 2, 1863. Blood gushed from a severed artery. It took at least two hours to get him to a field hospital, and Jackson was dropped twice in a stretcher before his arm was amputated. He died days later at 39.
Scholars have long questioned whether it was an infection or pneumonia that killed Jackson, who gained the nickname "Stonewall" early in the war and went on to be lionized in the South and feared in the North because of his military exploits.
On Friday, the 150th anniversary of Jackson's death, a trauma surgeon with experience on the battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan revealed his diagnosis of Jackson's death after reinvestigating the medical record. After reviewing the 1860s files and subsequent reports, University of Maryland surgeon and professor Joseph DuBose told The Associated Press that Jackson most likely died of pneumonia.
DuBose is confirming the original diagnosis given by Jackson's personal physician, the famed Confederate doctor Hunter H. McGuire.
"You would be hard-pressed to find someone more qualified than him for the treatment of this injury and taking care of Stonewall Jackson," DuBose said. "I do defer to him in some regard. I kind of have to. He's not only the treating physician; he's also the only source of information."
McGuire's original medical notes were lost when he was captured by Union soldiers. He recreated them from memory three years later for the Richmond Medical Journal.

Everything You Were Never Taught About “The Great Emancipator”
Despite being stretched for time in just about every aspect of life, I just can’t seem to help continually signing up for the great classes over at The Mises Academy. But after a lifetime of being “educated” by the “public” (government) education system, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Our nation’s schools veer away from any controversy over the most revered figures of the State, and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone more revered than “The Great Emancipator”, Abe Lincoln.
The standard tale of “Honest Abe” is that he was just a hard-working honest fella who made an unlikely run for the Presidency, freed the slaves and united the country before being brutally murdered while watching “Little Orphan Annie” (I may be foggy on some of the details.) This tale may provide us with warm and fuzzy feelings, but it doesn’t quite provide us with the truth about Lincoln’s presidency.
Let’s see what Wikipedia has to say:

We Don’t Grasp the Yankee/Marxist Mindset
Via SHNV
There were some leaders in the South during the War of Northern Aggression that watched Northern armies get defeated again and again and they wondered why the Northern government just didn’t give up and let them go and end all the carnage on both sides. As sincere as these men were, they did not grasp the Yankee/Marxist mindset, just as many do not in our day.
They did not realize (and still do not) that the prime agenda of the Yankee/Marxist is to remake the world and all its people in his own image. He can never stop until he completes this task. His combat against those who deviate from his holy agenda is ongoing and never-ending. He seeks to get his own way and push his own agenda—no matter what—and no matter how long it takes. This is the Yankee/Marxist’s “holy” calling—all must be remade in his image and for that to happen all memory of Almighty God must be done away with so that all anyone ever remembers is the Yankee/Marxist “deity.”
He’s not there yet and in God’s economy he never will be, but that doesn’t keep him from continually trying.

Ex-constituents ask judge to sentence Jesse Jackson Jr. to hard time
Via SHNV
Several of former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s (D-Ill.) constituents are asking a federal judge to show him no mercy when he hands down his sentence.
The charges of using campaign funds for personal use, which Jackson has pleaded guilty to, are worse than murder, Chicago resident Gregory Ritter said in a letter to U.S. District Court Judge Robert L. Wilkins.
“[M]urder would be a lighter crime, as these defendants have used the political hopes and dreams of the constituents as a blank check for deceit,” Ritter wrote. “The crimes of this magnitude are not like a traffic ticket.
“While the act of being a hypocrite is not punishable. The violation of this magnitude has made our democracy shiver.”
Jackson admitted to spending $750,000 worth of campaign funds on televisions, appliances, movie tickets and jewelry. His sentence is expected to be handed down July 1.
The former congressman faces up to four years in prison, but his lawyers have pleaded with Wilkins to show leniency. They note Jackson’s doctor has described him as being mentally unstable.
Some of Jackson’s onetime constituents say Wilkins should throw the book at him.
“The congressman comes from a prominent family and has been afforded the best education that a lot in our society has not,” wrote Tiny Hawkins, of Markham, Ill. “I am asking that you do the right by his constituents and treat him as you would any other person.”
She said Jackson “did absolutely nothing for our district for the time he served.”
Hawkins said that her mother had asked Jackson to talk with Markham Mayor David Webb about a drug problem in their neighborhood, but “he refused to do so.”
Martin Dettmer, a dentist in Wheaton, Ill., asked the judge to “apply the full force and limits of law allowed in sentencing.”

Who At The White House Is Giving A Tremendous Amount Of Pushback To CBS On Benghazi?
Sharyl Attkisson, of CBS News, has been one of the few reporters who is “a persistent voice of media skepticism on Benghazi,” according to the Washington Post. It’s nice to know there are still some in the media who are persistent voices of media skepticism when it comes to our government. After all, that really is part of what the First Amendment is about; holding government accountable through freedom of speech and freedom of the press. However, she’s now claiming that she has received “a tremendous amount of pushback” from the Obama White House.
“I’m a political agnostic,” she says. “I don’t think about who’s good and who’s bad. I just go where the story leads. . . . People can say what they want about me, I don’t care. I just want to get the information out there.”
Not only does Attkisson, say that, but she lives it. She claims that she is not partisan and has already demonstrated that she will go up against the administration in her coverage of the Justice Department’s gun running operation, Fast and Furious, won her an Emmy for investigative reporting.
Attkisson believes she is being stonewalled by the White House in her investigation of Benghazi, specifically the Obama administration’s non-response to a petition for documents requested back in November under the Freedom of Information Act.
The Washington Post recounts her sentiments:

"Raleigh Lib Takes Issue With Living In The South"
Via NC Links
Senator Berger’s new tax plan leaves little doubt about his vision of North Carolina. Mountains of empirical evidence to the contrary,
he won’t let go of his admiration for the South Carolina-Mississippi
model. Whether this is the result of ideological passion or sheer
denial, he’s dead set in his determination to develop a moon light
and loblollies policy. In fact, not only Berger but the whole
Republican legislature seem to be living in an airtight bubble of Deep
South envy.
Republicans operate on the assumption that the entire state shares their worldview. Even though Triangle residents support serious gun control by a 23-point margin, the
GOP just voted to allow murder weapons on greenways in a city with more
park space per square mile than anywhere else in the country. It’s not a
coincidence, then, that Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham voters already
support Democrats on the generic legislative ballot by fairly robust
margins. Of interest to the likely U.S. Senate candidate, Berger himself
is deeply unpopular in Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh-Durham and
Wilmington.

Desensitization Training: Police Practice Fighting “Angry Parents”

From time to time, I have been highly annoyed with the school that my daughter attends. I have set up meetings with teachers, principals, and administrators. I have brought in paperwork and pleaded my case on a variety of topics. I have made scathing remarks. Once, I even had the utter audacity to argue a point with the principal with my daughter right there in the room, which is apparently a no-no because it “undermined the authority of the principal”. However, I haven’t yet gone on a rampage against which the police would need to come in and defend the school against me.
They must do things differently in Puyallup, Washington.

VA FLAGGER DOCUMENTARY PRODUCER MAKES CITIZENS ARREST OF VANDALS ATTEMPTING TO DEFACE THE JEFFERSON DAVIS MONUMENT ON MONUMENT AVE. IN RICHMOND.
On Thursday evening, May 9th, VCU Film student Rob Walker left class after turning in his short film, “Va Flaggers at Oakwood” for his final exam.
At approximately 9:00 p.m, he drove past the Jefferson Davis Monument on Monument Avenue and observed two young white males at the monument. Suspicious, he circled the monument to try and find out what they were up to. On first glance, it appeared they were doing something to the iron fencing.
When Rob pulled up in front of them, he saw that they had a screwdriver, and were attempting to scrape or carve something into the stone of the monument. He immediately called 911 and dropped the phone in the car seat so that emergency personnel would be alerted and be able to record the confrontation.
From the car, Rob yelled at the men to stop what they were doing and drop the screwdriver. They refused, and began swearing and shouting at him.
I should mention that Rob is a US Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was injured in, but survived the attack on the USS Cole.
Rob also used to drive a Taxi, and carries with him at all times, from his days as a driver, a cattle prod/club, with a taser on one end.
Armed with the club, he approached the men and again, told them to drop the screwdriver. The man with the screwdriver refused, and waved it at him in a threatening manner. When the man came closer, Rob punched the club into his chest and tasered him, at which time the man was rendered helpless and Rob was able to subdue him. At this point, the other vandal ran off, skeered.
As the subdued vandal came to, Rob (who, by the way, is 6’ plus a bunch) was able to keep him on the ground by resting his knee on his back, and applying his body weight with his knee. Meanwhile, the vandal who ran away had returned, and taken position across the street. After a few minutes, the punk must have decided the police weren’t coming, most likely because they had not seen Rob call them. He then picked up a stick and came back over to the monument, apparently to attempt to free his partner in crime. BIG mistake.
When the man swung the stick at Rob, Rob blocked it with the club, broke the stick in two, and tagged the vandal with the taser. Down went the second vandal... lying helpless on the ground beside his friend.
Until the police arrived, Rob held the screwdriver wielding vandal down, and, as necessary, reached over to give the other punk a gentle tag of voltage each time he recovered enough and attempted to escape.
When the police arrived, they handcuffed the vandals and proceeded to give Rob a lecture about how risky it is to make a citizen’s arrest, especially over an offense so “trivial” as misdemeanor vandalism. Rob told them that he does not consider vandalism of a Confederate monument “trivial”. He said that if he attempted to spray paint graffiti on the White House, snipers would take him out with one bullet to the head, so what he did was quite gentle in comparison.
On Veterans’ Day, 2012, Rob happened upon the Va Flaggers as we were out bringing awareness to the vandalism to the RE Lee Monument the night before. He stopped to interview us, was intrigued by what we were all about, and has been following us ever since, documenting our efforts, and along the way, gaining a whole new respect for the Confederate Veterans we honor.
Flagger Victory in Capital of the Confederacy
We do not believe there are ANY coincidences or happenstance in what has transpired since we began our work 20 months ago. There is no denying God’s hand in this… in bringing Rob to Monument Ave. last November, and then, miraculously again last night at the exact moment and time to prevent what could have been irreparable damage to one of our most treasured monuments AND facilitating the first arrest (that we are aware of) of these punk vandals that have no regard for the rule of law: neither God’s nor man’s.We encourage each of you to send a note of thanks to Rob Walker, for his bravery and courage in protecting the Jefferson Davis Monument, a NATIONAL treasure, and his help in apprehending the worthless individuals who sought to desecrate it.

Ariel Castro, Cleveland Kidnap Suspect, May Face Death Penalty
An Ohio prosecutor said he may seek the death penalty against Ariel Castro, the Cleveland man charged today with the kidnap and rape of three women he allegedly brutalized for a decade while allegedly inducing abortions in at least one of the captives.
"Capital punishment must be reserved for those crimes that are truly the worst examples of human conduct," Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty said today, indicating that Castro will likely face additional charges of aggravated murder related to the pregnancies.
The death penalty is applicable under Ohio law for the "most depraved criminals who commit aggravated murder during the course of a kidnapping," McGinty said.
Castro allegedly induced abortions in one of his victims, Michele Knight, 32, on at least five separate occasions by punching her in the stomach.
But another alleged captive, Amanda Berry, carried a child to term, delivering the now 6-year-old girl in a plastic kiddie pool, police said.
Castro today was charged with four charges of kidnap, one for each woman and the 6-year-old child whom Berry delivered while in captivity. He was charged with three counts of rape.
Bail was set at $2 million per case, for a total of $8 million. Castro is an unemployed, former school bus driver.
Castro, who also reportedly told investigators he is a "sex addict," is being held in isolation at an Ohio jail.

Parents of Slain Navy SEAL: The White House Is Responsible
The grieving parents of a Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan say major blunders by the U.S. military and the White House led to his death — and described how his body and the bodies of other soldiers were "desecrated'' in an Islamic ceremony at an American base.
"As our son's body lay there [with the other soldiers], their first amendment rights and freedom of religion were violated,'' an emotional Bill Vaughn told "The Steve Malzberg Show'' on Newsmax TV.Vaughn's disturbing claim came in the midst of a Congressional probe of an alleged cover-up in the facts surrounding the deadly attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya last Sept. 11th.
The couple are pressing for their own Congressional investigations into the downing of the chopper — why it happened and what mistakes were made. Aaron Carson Vaughn, an elite Navy SEAL died on Aug. 6, 2011 when a helicopter carrying 30 American troops was blasted out of the sky.

Today is Confederate Memorial Day in the Carolinas

Today, May 10th, in North Carolina and South Carolina, is Confederate Memorial Day.
I am reminded of the local “Sons of Confederate Veterans” Confederate Memorial Day celebration, which I attend every year. When last I spoke to the gathering I spoke of the Confederate Soldier, or as I sometimes refer to them, the “Southern Knights.”
As it was a celebration of the southern warrior, I spoke on the attributes of the Confederate soldier… who he was, what he was like, what he did, what he felt, why he did what he did, and why he felt he MUST do what he did, and so on, and so forth.
When one studies the Confederate soldier, one quickly comes to understand that there has never been, before or after the American “War Between the States”, a warrior quite like the “Southern Knights”. As a combat soldier, he was more akin to the various “special forces” of numerous militaries around the world than he was to the “regular” soldiers we are acquainted with today. He was a killing machine… with good manners.

Is Benghazi Obama's Watergate?
Via avordvet
While political pundits and media analysts who live in an alternative universe (also known as the left-wing) scream conspiracy theory from the rooftops, we are witnessing an historic event playing out in the form of the Benghazi hearings. Reminiscent of Hillary Clinton's infamous accusations of a "vast right-wing conspiracy" when the House impeached her husband, everyone from Al Sharpton to Debbie Wasserman Schultz is demonizing the House Oversight Committee for staging a "witch hunt" in order to understand what happened the night that four American citizens were murdered by al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists in Libya. But despite Obama and Clinton's combined political savvy (coupled with a complicit and disinterested mainstream media), a Shakespearean tragedy that will make Watergate look like child's play may very well be unfolding.
In the face of Clinton's "What difference, at this point, does it make?" and Jay Carney's "Benghazi happened a long time ago," three "whistleblowers" appeared before a Congressional committee on Wednesday to begin to fill in the facts that the administration has been obfuscating. And just as it ignored repeated requests for additional security in the lead up to the attacks, was derelict in its duty to save American lives as the tragic events played out, and then trivialized the significance of what had transpired, the administration continues to stone-wall and obscure the truth. But with so many unanswered questions, the Obama machine may finally be in over its head.
We knew going into Wednesday's testimony that within two hours of the initial attacks on our consulate, the White House and State Department were informed that the Islamic militant group, Ansar al-Sharia, claimed responsibility. One email that stated, "Update 2: Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack," was addressed to the White House Situation Room. And yet, the administration continued for weeks to blame the attacks on an anti-Muslim video that sparked a spontaneous protest. But as the facts trickled out and the election neared, it became obvious that the administration was not being honest, perhaps fearful that its claim that "al Qaeda is on its heels" would have been proven just one more politically motivated fable (which it was). But with the lies bolstered by the likes of Candy Crowley who ambushed Mitt Romney during one of the presidential debates, Obama went on scot free to win the election in November.

Letter from New York: A Tyrannous Central Government

-
I was recently asked why I associated myself with "neo-Confederates" because, after all, I had a brain. Below is my response. It is heartfelt and I wanted others than just the one to whom I sent it to read it. I cannot say that it is anyone's opinion but my own, but some may find points of agreement:
----------------------------------------------
I have given considerable thought to your query on my “neo-Confederate” contacts. If I put in everything, you would have an essay and I’m sure your curiosity does not extend to that degree so I will try to keep it short.
The South was right and I am not alone in that belief. Hear the considered opinion of Lord Acton—a giant of his and any other time. Acton in a letter to Robert E. Lee, said:
“I saw in States’ rights the only availing check upon the absolutism of the sovereign will, and secession filled me with hope, not as the destruction but as the redemption of Democracy…. Therefore I deemed that you were fighting the battles of our liberty, our progress, and our civilization, and I mourn for the stake which was lost at Richmond more deeply than I rejoice over that which was saved at Waterloo.”
After over ten years of research, I now know that what I revered for most of my life was an illusion and that our present national condition is the consequence of more than 150 years in which the original vision of most—but not all—of the Founders has been replaced by a central tyranny which at least used to pay “lip service” to the will of the people. My conclusions are summed up by Professor Jay Hoar, an historian from Maine (not Mississippi) who said:
“The worst fears of those Boys in Gray are now a fact of American life—a Federal government completely out of control.”
Of course, I have been assured that Hoar’s opinions are suspect because he spent time in the South. But if Hoar had lived on the moon, that would not change the fact that he is correct. Our “no-longer-federal” government is completely out of control and cares nothing for anyone’s consent, much less that of “the governed.”
And finally, I must bring forth the words of Ulysses Grant who said,
“The questions which have heretofore divided the sentiment of the people of the two sections—slavery and state's rights, or the right of a state to secede from the Union—they (Southern men) regard as having been settled forever by the highest tribunal—arms—that man can resort to.”
And with that unchallenged sentiment, I realized that we no longer have any law but the law of the jungle—the survival of the strongest. Antonin Scalia—a conservative—said the same thing when asked about the constitutionality of secession. Grant and Scalia were not talking about what was called after the war “the abitrement of the sword,” that is, acceptance of a military defeat by such men as John Mosby and Robert E. Lee, but the actual belief that triumph in arms somehow bestowed legitimacy upon one side of an issue! If right is determined by might, then Hitler wasn’t “wrong,” he was merely bested in war! Had he won, his adherents would have every moral “right” to build the same type of monuments to him that we have built to another tyrant and war criminal, Abraham Lincoln! As well, if we accept Grant’s and Scalia’s premise, then we are then forced to agree with another well respected conservative, John Bolton, who said that the United States government killed many Southern civilians during the Civil (sic) War without due process and it was the right thing to do! I reject that philosophy which apparently is now—and has been—the philosophy of this country for at least 150 years (ask the American Indian)! If the right is determined by the strong rather than by the law, then why bother with the law except as a subterfuge to hide that fact from the ignorant and the naïve?
I stand with those whom you call “neo-Confederates” because they are waging an admittedly losing battle to preserve their history, their symbols and their way of life—Christian Western civilization and I would prefer to die with the righteous than live with the Spirit of the Age. They cannot win because the tide of history is against them but for those who think that their loss means nothing to “America,” I assure you, the symbols, history and heritage of the “The United States” will soon follow the symbols, history and heritage of The Confederate States. The latter can no more be allowed to remain in our Brave New World than the former. Already we see American—not Confederate—flags being censored in our schools lest they “offend” our Third World “guests”—invited or otherwise.
I am almost 72; my husband is almost 75. we are already “dead” in the eyes of Obamacare as is my handicapped son who is just another expensive “useless eater.” My daughter and her husband have no problem with the current regime—and by that I mean all of them and not just one political party. Indeed, I echo the sentiments of Patrick Buchanan who stated that the two parties are merely two wings on the same bird of prey. I have no grandchildren, nor will I have any so I am not overcome with angst about the future. It is sad to see the end of “the Great Experiment,” but actually it ended before it really began. The seeds of its destruction were sown at its birth. Patrick Henry was right when he declared that the Constitution was nothing but a plan for the installation of a tyrannous central government despite every effort to prevent that from happening (bye-bye Bill of Rights!). Benjamin Franklin was right when he said that when the Congress discovered it could use the People’s money to buy elected office in perpetuity the Republic was dead. Today, we are merely seeing these warnings played out. The final death blow was struck in 1865. We are only now coming to the last dying gasps.

Don’t let your Senator fall for his "superficial" changes!
You guys unleashed a torrent of grassroots activism in response, and we are starting to get great feedback as to where Senators currently stand.
Within the past 48 hours, we have seen clear evidence that West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin and his staff have openly lied about the status of talks with two Republican Senators.
Manchin is claiming that two Senators who originally opposed his background-registration check amendment would flip their votes if "superficial changes" were made to the text.
But at the request of Gun Owners of America, a prominent constituent spoke with his U.S. Senator in regard to the allegations that Manchin was making about that particular Senator. The constituent reported that his Senator called Manchin's representations a "lie."
In a separate case, Manchin claimed to have been in talks with a particular Senate office; but three staffers who would have been part of those talks denied the truth of Manchin's public representations.
Since Manchin had earlier lied about the status of talks with Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn, a standard operating procedure is becoming clear: Manchin is obsessively lying in order to create a false sense of momentum.
Manchin is not the only Bloomberg puppet in the Senate. On Tuesday, California Senator Barbara Boxer filibustered an amendment that would extend firearm owners' protection in national parks to Army Corps of Engineer projects.
But, in a Senate where a senator's word has traditionally been regarded as sacred, the first-full-term West Virginia senator has shown a tremendous willingness to engage in open fraud in order to destroy the Second Amendment.
Manchin is now circulating a list of bribes he is trying to use to buy off Republican votes which GOA predicted would happen. Some of these bribes, like an amendment which would supposedly ameliorate the nasty implications of his amendment for rural states like Alaska, are merely superficial and ineffectual.
Others, like opening the NICS list to local police, are just massive violations of individual rights allowing many names to be inserted into the NICS system without due process.
ACTION: Click here to contact your U.S. Senators. Warn them that, in violation of the Senate's most sacred traditions, West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin is engaging in fraud, lies, and bribes in order to advance gun control.
